We walked by and saw it was not busy. So the Mrs. Decided on the mani-pedi combo. I was going to wait outside but they said I was welcome to sit in the massage chair next to her, turned it on. I appreciated getting in without an appointment Friday afternoon. We must have just hit a good time since it really filled up. We got manis and pedis. The staff were friendly and social. I liked that we didn't have to wait or move for the mani. Another manicurist performed the service while we relaxed in the comfortable pedicure chairs. I'd definitely go back when I'm in Calistoga. I've been to nail salons from the east coast to the west coast and this is by far the best salon I've ever been to, I came in around 6 to get a full set done and she did my nails to perfection well after closing. The customer service is amazing and the nails are mind blowing I live on the other side of the country and I'd definitely make the trip to get my nails done here again. I have been living in the Bay Area for over forty years. Last fall, I started to go to F. A. R. The owner Nhi and Risa are the best manicurists I have ever had! The way they use the gel technique is far superior to anything I have experienced and the nails do not weaken. The place is super clean, they are always polite, and always on time. The place is very quiet and calm. I don't have a lot of experience with their pedicures, but they use disposable liners and their cleanliness standards are top notch. Ridiculous stingy pedicure service even for 30 dollars . The technician spent a total of three minutes on grooming my toenails including the filing. Basically one file swipe per toe. The massage was basically someone applying lotion to my feet and she only applied one coat of color on my nails. When I showed my daughters they said I had no paint . I also asked to have my callous removed and although she said I didn't have any she used the tool on me for one minute when I got to the counter to pay the 30.00 service she added 10.00 for the callous removal . Friend and I went for manicure and pedicures. The water was ice cold. I had to request warmer water. The man doing my pedicure cut my toes several times despite me saying "ow" multiple times. The "massage" was him rubbing his sharp nails up and down my legs several times. When painting my nails, more nail polish was on my skin then the nail. When I asked him to fix, he tried to cut more of the skin. The manicure paint chipped within minutes and he could not file the nails properly. Polish seems old. There was not one positive thing I can share about this experience, except that my friend could not stop laughing until it was her turn. So sad this is the only place we could find in Calistoga that could do nails. read more

I am not one to write bad reviews but this experience was so bad I must. I've gone to this salon a couple times over the last few years. Each time was subpar at best, hence not returning with any frequency. Since it is right down the street from my home I decided to give it a last go. Worst decision ever. If I could give negative stars I would. My big toe nails were cut so short they are well below the toe itself, a good 1/4 of the nail gone. Worse yet the edges on both big toes were uneven. I asked more than once to have them filed to be straight before polishing. After multiple asks, and fails, the nails were still uneven and borderline jagged. I finally filed them myself, as the technician kept cutting, filing and failing. The owner/manager was working on a customer next to me and never once stepped in to get things done correctly, or offer a concession. To cap off the worst pedicure I have ever received, an hour later the big toe nail is bubbling and chipped already. For these slipshod results and experience I had to pay $47.84 which included an unknown service charge. Never, ever, again. read more

DO NOT rely on making an appointment!! Two weeks ago on a Saturday I called and made an appointment, to go on my lunch break. I arrived and all nail techs were busy. I informed the owner that I had an appointment and she let me sit there for 20 minutes before someone started my manicure. I was very disappointed, but still willing to give them another shot. Today I called at 1:30 and set up an appointment for 2:00. When I showed up I told the owner that I had an appointment for 2pm and she asked if I could come back, I said no and she asked if I could come back after work and I said no. All she could say was a passive sorry. I will not be giving them my business anymore. AND I will not be sending them any business as I work for a hotel in town. Don't waste your time. read more

Very unhappy. The girl did a nice job on the mani/pedi but the atmosphere was very cold. I tried to make conversation but she did not speak. No one talked to anyone. Women came in for services but they did not have enough help to accommodate them. They left. They never turned the jets on the manicure tub. I just had my feet soaking in a tub of plain water. No salts or oils were ever added. The girl rubbed my legs and bottom of my feet after she polished my toenails. The woman next to me waited for 45 minutes with her feet in plain water before they started on her. I thought she was going to leave. Unfortunately I will not be returning. read more
