Tried this place for the first time today. It was really good. I went in for some take out, not much space for parking. Inside was very small, but clean, and organized. There is a picture of the menu on here, the prices have gone up about a $1 but still priced reasonably. I ordered 2 volcano rolls, absolutely delicious, the salmon was very fresh, I also got a Cali roll, and a spider roll, both very good as well. Took about 20 minutes to have my order ready, well worth the wait. I'll definitely be back! read more

Delicious, fresh, beautifully presented sushi and excellent (cheap!) teriyaki. It definitely feels like a FG-esque, family-oriented place, not metro sushi bar- but the food doesn't suffer from the hybrid environment! If we're only going to have on teriyaki and sushi venue in Forest Grove, I'm glad it's at least these guys! I should have know it was going to be bad when I heard the other patron say to the waitress as she brought the check that he never even received his main course. 2nd red flag should have been when the waitress did not even know what Hamachi was saying "if it is Red Snapper we have it". Then it just went down hill from there. She stood talking to herself with our order of Miso trying to figure out who ordered it - finally I gestured her over and then at the very end, just like the patron at the beginning, we get our bill WITHOUT receiving all of our food ... her stating we didn't order anything else. The MISO, which she spilt a bit on my daughter, tasted like it was rehydrated from a store bought packet. The Spicy Tuna Roll that we did receive was good though. All in all I would not waste my time or money again. read more

This was ok. Maybe it's difficult to review sushi, but the food didn't really blow me away. It's was good. The service was aweful. If the service were better, we probably would have come again, as it is very close to our house and we love sushi. But the service was garbage. We were left at the table for at least 20 minutes before someone came to even take a drink order. Then we waited another 45 minutes for the food to come to us. We didn't order the whole menu, maybe three rolls? On top of that............our drinks didn't come until after the food when we reminded them we ordered something. Insult to injury? I never got mine at all. I asked for it four times then gave up when the check came. Don't bother with this place. The food migh be ok, but you'll give yourself a headache trying to keep calm through poor treatment. read more

Service is a hit or miss when I go. I've seen regulars come up and order, chat, get their food, and leave while I was still waiting for my called-in takeout of the same order. Other times, the service is prompt and professional. In spite of that, the food is ALWAYS amazing. I love the salads, rice, sushi nigiri, sashimi, and the terriyaki chicken. I've never had a negative experience with the food, and I only ever get take-out for me and my coworkers, so I don't really have an issue with the customer service one way or the other. It seems like a pleasant college hangout spot most days, and it's cool that they seem to know alot of the kids' names, so I might try going there to get some work done, but for now, I'm really happy just for the food. read more

I've been to Japan twice and FG Sushi gets very close not just in presentation but in taste to the real thing, both in their sushi menu but in their bento, udon, and sushi menu. It's a great price as well! It's very filling as well, although they tend to be swamped around dinner time. It's easier to order take out for dinner. read more

I'm giving FG sushi only 2 stars because I feel like they have a lot to work on. I don't feel like the customer service is great especially when you are dealing with the owners. Also, the last time we were there they told us we couldn't order fish because they were all out... we got up and left and so did the other customers that were in the restaurant. We were really disappointed because we have heard good things... we might give it another shot if we are desperate.. but I just don't know if we will be going back. read more

Forest Grove Sushi. The name alone would make most avoid it in favor of Beaverton or Portland establishments. The thing is, however, I haven't eaten at a better sushi place than this. People have raved about Mios, whose service is definitely great, but whose sushi is definitely second to Forest Grove Sushi. It gets frustrating when people tell me how much they love this or that sushi place, but they haven't even been to the one in their own backyard. It's pretty straightforward: Sushi, Bento, and Udon. The flavor, however, is far from standard. It blows the rotating sushi places right out of the water. As soon as they set the WHITE ginger (none of that pink crap that is not fresh) down in front of you, you'll know you are in the right place. Try their green tea: there are pieces of brown rice floating in it (like the Japanese meant for tea to be). They even closed their sushi menu down for a month during the tsunami. You wanna know why? The sushi chef was at home in Japan HELPING his family and friends. If that's not authentic, I don't know what is. read more

My kids and I love this place nice clean cozy atmosphere. Friendly and attentive server. The food is delicious. We love the shrimp pizza, shrimp lovers rolls, terryaki chicken, california rolls and shrimp tempura. sometimes I'd get a craving for sushi and would settle for safeway prepackaged sushi so I wouldn't have to go out of town, but FG sushi house spoiled me its so fresh and yummy, I can't even look at store bought california rolls any more. Maybe that doesn't sound like a compliment because I actually ate the store bought stuff, but I had been to atleast 4 or 5 other sushi places before, hot pot in sushi, todia etc... and the store bought stuff was good enough in a pinch. and now its not at all... so if FG sushi house ever stops making sushi I'll be devistated...its such a guilty little pleasure. read more

This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. The staff is very friendly and the food is great. My wife only gets the chicken teriyaki box with spring rolls. She is addicted. I was stuck on the Marina roll for a while, but I have since branched out. I haven't found a sushi roll I haven't liked yet. But I am determined to keep trying. The saki is cold, unless it's warm, and the green tea is perfect. You have to love the tea cups. read more

I have reviewed this little place in the past with raves,. not feeling so happy about them lately. I have tried to call in an order several times. I've had difficulty getting through but this time someone answered, I think she did not understand me saying "I would like to place an order to go".. so it sounded like the phone was dropped and I was eventually hung up on. Sad. I did manage to get though tonight at 8:35pm on my way home from work, they supposedly close at 9pm. I asked for a combo order that includes a California roll but the man said they were out of rice for any sushi???? What!!! Wow! So he said we will substitute spring roll or pot stickers in place of it. I opted for pot stickers (this was plural hence the s) :D) No reduction in price. I got there at 8:45 and they had the open sign on with all the chairs up like they were closed. I was told I should always order earlier to get sushi, (I'm thinking,,, OK I guess I will have to do that) When I got home to see what was in the box... there was 1 extra pot sticker...still thinking ok well... then I see that the beef teriyaki had some noodles in it and it's suppose to be all rice... WTH** What did this come from??!! Yikes! could it be someone else's plate?! It looked as though there was half an order and it was thrown on in randomly, not like the usual order I have had over the past few years.. I feel as though they don't care about the customer and I'm not sure but it looked like I got scraps that were left overs and had to pay 11.95 for it. I really am disgusted.. My wife and I love this place. We typically go for the lunch teriyaki special if that means anything but we have eaten here at dinner and have loved it even then. They place is nice but rather small. Always clean, although a very odd Starbucks feel for a layout. They have a TV on all the time but some of the oddest sporting programs to watch in a restaurant. The food is great and the service is amazing. The waiter is always courteous and great when it comes to explaining new things to us. I love sushi and while Syun Izakaya is better when it comes to a sushi restaurant this is the place I like to go to since its about half the price. read more

Great sushi for a great price. They have a good selection and a good bento lunch special. If you want to go at dinner time be ready for a wait. They have a small wait staff and have a lot of call in orders. I recommend calling it in and eating it at home. The inside setting is limited and they have 2 outside tables for the summer. read more

I tried this for the first time. It is nice and clean. I had chicken teriyaki and the portion was good size. I had Gyoza and they were good, my children liked them and the sause was very good. I recommend this place. Only thing was small parking space. Prices were favorable. read more

FG sushi has good sushi and good prices. They recently got a new waittress who is friendly and quick. The reason I give four stars instead of five is that FG sushi is often understaffed. They usually have just one waitress and a man behind the counter who is either the manager or the owner. He barks at the waitresses which slows them down. Another small pet peeve is that they are chinzy on ice in their drinks. read more

Have come in now a couple more times, and I do like the veggie sushi rolls. Everyone is very friendly. So far, this is my favorite restaurant in Forest Grove. My only pet peeve is that it can get pretty cold in there. They did have the heater on last time, but there are a lot of cold drafts at the tables. I still think they could do with some better lighting, and not having the tv on to the news or something like that. Maybe, have it on something more like nature with some nice music in the restaurant. But, it is a small town. Though, it's the little things that make a restaurant, and they just need some little touches here and there to make this a better restaurant. read more

Dined here a number of times for both lunch and dinner. Always had excellent service and exceptional food. Although I am not a big sushi fan I really enjoy their combo and bento boxes. The miso soup is a welcome starter on a cold Winter day, and the hot green tea is also excellent. The tempura shrimp is as light as a feather. Since I'm not a hard core sushi fan I can't comment on that side of the menu. I'll leave that to others with more knowledgable palates. read more

I love this place. I used to be vegetarian, so I would order one of the four or so veggie options and they were so cheap! Between $3.50-5.00 for 6-8 pieces. The other options with fish are rather cheap too. I had the Volcano Roll today, which has baked salmon, crab, avocado, and cream cheese. It was so good! Someone else on here mentioned not liking the TV, and I have to agree. I think it's because it's such a small space in the first place that the big TV really stands out. Anyway, I would recommend this place to any sushi lover. It's a clean, pleasant environment. read more
