We come here a lot, and the sushi is pretty good for small town ethnic food, but the owner seems pretty hard to deal with. We have never had the same waitress twice in about a dozen trips, or even SEEN the same waitress twice. They hire young girls who quit. The owner stands at the counter and barks orders at them, and I'm guessing they don't like it! The new trainees get our orders wrong sometimes, but we go back because we live nearby and the food is good. If you like chicken, the bento special is a good deal. Charbroiled and a little chewy. Gave this place multiple chances. Same results every time. Horrible service and always manage to mess up the order. They could care less about the customer. They make you wait 30 to 45 minutes for your food and when they mess it up they make you wait another 20 minutes. When you complain to the owner he doesn't even try to make it right. When I asked for a discount he insulted me by trying to take one dollar off my bill. This place has the worst service I have ever experienced and I will never be back. read more

This place has it all. The food, the service, the atmosphere definitely hit the spot tonight. Though a bit secluded in location, FG Sushi is definitely worth it. To begin, the salad was fresh and the dressing was phenomenal. I heard it was a secret and now I definitely know why - if I had the recipe, I would be rich. It's so light yet satisfying, with a hint of citrus! The sashimi was incredibly fresh and melt in your mouth. All the rolls and the noodles (we had the dragon roll, grasshopper roll, and yakisoba) was a hearty portion and hit the spot in flavor town. On top of the food being so worth it for the price, the service was friendly and I definitely felt at home. The man in the front, I believe he's the owner, even introduced himself to me and shook my hand while they were busy and mopped with customers! That's the homey atmosphere I look for in restaurants :) If you're ever in the neighborhood and looking for great sushi with friendly faces that care about your dining experience, hit this place up. read more

We recently moved to Forest Grove and were wondering where good places to eat were. My husband drove by this place on his way to find the post office, and said it looked neat so we stopped in. The restaurant is really small & cozy, feels more like a living room with some tables and chairs. Service was quick, helpful, and hospitable. The food was super good! We each got a bento dinner (spicy pork for me, beef for him) and a spicy tuna and tuna pepper roll. Serving sizes were ample, and price was pretty comparable to what you'd find elsewhere, if not a bit cheaper. The tuna rolls were actually spiced, which is a pleasant surprise from the norm. This is an OK place on forest grove really the only place that serves sushi outside of a buffet near Safeway, gross. Fish could be fresher but the vent boxes are food. If you're looking for fresh tuna, salmon , crab, you probably won't get it here but a teriyaki chicken plate for under $6.00 is a great deal. read more

On any given day you ask anyone in my family where they want to go eat and you'll more than likely hear at least one, if not all three of us say...SUSHI! Generally we'll head east and visit one of the conveyor belt style sushi dining places. Yet on this particular night, we decided to stay in town and show some locally owned and operated love. When we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and kindness and within minutes had given our order and received our drinks. That's where the hospitality ended... We waited for almost an hour and even spoke to the owner twice that it seemed to be taking quite a long time for our order to arrive. After watching two other families come and go since our order had been taken, I decided to walk to the counter to find out what the hold up was. After rushing to the back and flitting around, we were told by the waitress our order (that she took) seemed to have gotten lost. When the owner heard the commotion, he hurried over to find out what the problem was (we had already spoken to him twice about the situation). I explained to him, with frustration, that our order seemed to be 'lost'. He then went to the back and within seconds came out with our order bagged up because it had apparently been submitted as a To-Go order. He hands me our food without so much as an apology, let alone an offer to remake it (it'd been sitting for over 45 minutes) and still charged me full price for the entire experience. Needless to say, I'm hoping this was an isolated situation, but I won't be going back to test that theory. Which is really sad because we, as native Grovers, like to spread the hometown love and eat locally whenever possible. I hope this review saves you the hassle of going through what we went through that day. read more

Sweet Sushi in The Grove, went here the other night for the first time, my girl has been here before and has yet to have a bad meal. We got for are starters The Tempura Plate, Gyoza and Edamame all were great. For dinner we had the Tobiko, The Firecracker Roll, The Smoked Eel Roll and Tuna Nigiri all was top notch...The place is very clean and the decor is modern and fresh, service is spot on and the wine selection is fair with local wine from Sake-One, go try out FG in the Grove you won.t be let down.... read more

This is a quaint little sushi/Japanese food spot close to the University. My family and I came here one night because we were craving for some kind of rice dish for dinner. They were really busy that night so the service was really slow. After being seated it took at least 15 minutes for someone to approach us. We placed our order consisting of some entrees and some sushi dishes. The server seemed flustered and in a mad rush. She came back with glasses of water that were barely half full. ??? Ooookay.... Our entrees didn't come till almost 45 minutes later and they forgot the sushis so we waited an additional 20 minuted for those to come. I understand it was really busy and they seemed short-staffed on that night but it doesn't take away the frustration we felt as customers. The one thing we have to give them credit for is the good food. It really was very good so we did leave full and satiated. Hopefully, if we find ourselves here again the next time we're in town the service is better and the food is just as good. read more

Just ate here last weekend with a group of friends. I am no Sushi expert, but I will say what I had, the spicy tuna rolls, crab rolls, veggie and eel rolls were delicious. I have also never had raw salmon or octopus, and found them to be very tasty and fresh. The staff is very good and the price is excellent. For 6 of us and the amount of food we ate ( all guys who had been drinking beer all day )it came to $88. I would come back here for sure. There isn't a lot of places to sit, maybe 20, but I heard they were expanding. read more

Extremely disappointed in FG Sushi tonight. I'm a loyal customer and have eaten here hundreds of times, and I'm usually not the type of person to take it to yelp to share bad my feelings about my experience dining. Tonight I ordered a roll (where no where on the menu did it mention having mayo on it). It comes, and has a huge drizzle of WHITE mayonnaise on top along with a spicy mayo. Appalled, I asked to have it re-made (again, no where on the menu mentioned mayonnaise being anywhere near this roll). It was brought back to me, and I was told that the "mayonnaise had been scraped off for me". Ummm..... I could've done that myself...? What if I was allergic to mayonnaise? I ate three pieces and set my plate aside, too grossed out to continue. I'm normally one to tip 25-30% as I've been a waitress for several years of my life, however I was appalled at the fact that the restaurant would rather present it to me the way I had sent it back rather than take a small loss of a couple dollars (IF THAT) and re-make it for me. I guess the customer's happiness is second priority, right after the restaurant pinches every penny they can. Definitely should've stayed home tonight. read more

Have never dined in at this restaurant but their takeout is fantastic and we get it almost weekly. Can't beat their chicken teriyaki bowl for $5.00, perfectly cooked chicken and rice with a side salad topped with homemade citrus dressing. Their sushi rolls are great and decently priced. read more

I absolutely hate Sushi. Just the though of it is unappetizing to me. Luckily, I was dragged kicking and screaming into Forest Grove Sushi for lunch. THEY HAVE THE BEST CHICKEN YAKISOBA NOODLES! FG sushi is great if you have that little craving and don't want to drive to hillsboro. Their rolls are all very similar, CA based or deep fried. They do have baked rolls which is unique, I didn't like the monkey brain roll tho. The sushi tastes like it was just made with the different temperatures in the roll. It's not bad sushi by any means, just wish they had different rolls. The atmosphere was quite and enjoyable. There is very limited space to sit and park. Next time, I think we might order to go! read more

Got take out a few weeks ago- order was messed up as all the other reviews tell you. I tried to triple check before leaving but the owner couldn't or didn't care to get the attention of the server chatting with her visiting friends who said "uh that bag I think" when prompted. He assured me it was my order once again. I drive 20 minutes Home, pick up my phone, and am told to return to get the proper order. I'm irritated, but I would have been fine... had they not been extremely rude upon my return, nearly faulting me for having taken the order I repeatedly tried to check in about. When I asked if the order was made when we ordered, they indicated yes- a full hour and some before. I kid you not, this supposedly professional food establishment gave us hour and a half old sushi that had been out the door with a different couple. They did not make it fresh, they gave us food they gave to people we don't know, gave the food we took to people who don't know us. No apology for the inconvenience, no offer to remake the order. I actually told them that I was disappointed as I was leaving and hoped that the food didn't make me and my partner sick- it did. We were in and out of the restroom for about 6 hours. Thanks FG sushi, we now know where the bar is because you fall so far short of it. Never ever eat here if you value your time, money, enjoyment, or physical health. read more
