My husband did some research, called around and we took the vehicle to Christian Brothers Westchase (Tampa, FL). Turns out the water pump, which is built into the engine in this vehicle, so the labor costs are astronomical. The Flex was sitting at 141,000 miles so my husband decided to ask Christian Brothers Westchase to handle the 150,000 mile maintenance. All the parts would not arrive in time so we left the vehicle in Tampa and drove home my mom's vehicle instead. My parents had plans to drive through Atlanta a couple weeks later and could trade out vehicles at that time. When the Flex returned back to Marietta it didn't sound the same to me, the primary driver. As a busy working wife and mom to three, although it sounded noisier the vehicle was running fine so I didn't make it a priority to get it checked out. After school released, we drove to Orlando in early June 2021 (less than two months later) and the Flex started driving funny. Next think I know we're stranded on Western Way (behind Animal Kingdom) with my three kids and parents at 8pm on a Sunday night. An Uber delivered my mom and kids to our resort while my dad and I waited for a tow. We paid extra to get the Flex to Christian Brothers Clermont since that was the company who most recently did previous work. I was told this time it was a failed fuel valve (evap purge valve). Again, I drove another vehicle back to Marietta. I spoke with someone and described the louder than previously normal engine noises so it could be addressed before pick up and was told it didn't sound like anything was wrong. I drove roundtrip from Marietta to Clermont and back all in one day to return the borrowed vehicle and pick up my Flex. It still sounded loud to me but again was back to driving fine otherwise. All this time, since before April, the check engine light on the Flex would come on and go off randomly. The shops would clear the code when it was in, and it would eventually go off...then come back on. Needing to get emissions checked on the Flex, about mid-summer, I drove by Christian Brothers Acworth and they ran the code. This time I was told it was a catalytic converter, this was surprising since one was replaced in 2018 and one in 2019. We took it to the shop that did the work in 2019 to get the catalytic converter replaced. This did not solve the check engine light problem. I reached back out to Christian Brothers Westchase wanting them to take a look at the Flex again, to see what was causing the noise and check engine light. I offered to drive back to Tampa since my kids were still on summer break. I was instructed to visit the closest Christian Brothers location to our home, which happens to be the Smyrna location. Christian Brothers Smyrna got off to a rocky start. Trying to schedule Flex drop off was complicated, my husband and I had to juggle our work schedules to live with one vehicle. The Flex was at the shop for three days, when we thought work was getting done, but then were told the technician got covid and had been out for the week. The second time the Flex was at the shop for three days, they insisted other work needed to be done. My husband approved the additional work but then we were not charged when that work did not fix our problems. Trying to schedule for the Flex to return to CBS, I had reached my wit's end while on a phone call with Stephen at CBS and he offered me a rental. The plan was for Christian Brothers Smyrna to re-do the entire timing chain job that was previously done by Christian Brothers Westchase in April, at no cost to us. The Flex stayed with Christian Brothers Smyrna for over two weeks. In the mix of the timing chain job, we were informed the second catalytic converter was bad. Over the months, we learned that the catalytic converters would fail over time if the timing chain was not on correctly...and I was also told a bad timing chain job would cause the fuel valve to fail (our June issue). CBS also replaced the catalytic converter at no additional labor cost to us. Since each Christian Brothers location in independently owned, the Smyrna location tried to work with Westchase to split parts and labor expenses (since the initial fault falls on the bad timing chain job done by Westchase) and continued to express disappointment in working with their sister store. The Flex problems caused much stress and headaches over the months, we're so happy to be done. Stephen and his team at Christian Brothers Smyrna definitely went above and beyond to right the problems for us. I cannot recall their names now, but the sweet woman who always answers the phones and another gentleman who works in the front office were always so kind and helpful even though I'm sure they wanted to run for the hills every time they saw me. We appreciate Christian Brothers Smyrna for the dedication they have to their clients.

AAA towed my car the next morning (Wednesday). Exactly one week later, Christopher called to inform me they can't figure out how to make the keys. WTH?? A week??? After researching car locksmiths, found Mandy Miller with THE LOCKSMITH CO 404-574-8556 and she was out the next day, had the key fob and two keys programmed that afternoon. 3 hours....vs a week. BUT.....gets better. The Star Award goes to the mechanic that left my window down during the wettest week of the year. Found 2" of water on my floorboard. Can you say LIVID!! Found none of Patrick's compassion when that happened. I have taken excellent care of this car for the last 19 years and hope for their sake problems don't occur down the road due to this neglect. Not only can these people NOT think out of the box, they could care less about the safety of your car when it's on their lot. I wouldn't recommend these people to fix a bicycle. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
