Disorganized & Frustrating Cancellation Process…read more I signed up in May for a $89/month membership after taking a free class. Unfortunately, I never made it back, so I submitted a cancellation request through their app about two months later. That's where everything went downhill. I received a vague one-line email saying my request was "initiated" but needed more information. I replied multiple times asking what was needed--no response. I called, left voicemails, and sent several text messages over the course of months. Still nothing. Meanwhile, I continued to be charged for August and September despite actively trying to cancel. I eventually had to stop payment through my bank. Even after that, I kept reaching out about using the credits I had already paid for. Every time, I was told "Rich will call you back." It took two more months to finally speak with him. Then I was told I only had 30 days post-cancellation to use my credits--something that was never disclosed when I signed up or during my attempts to cancel. Even worse, I was told the only way to use the credits I already paid for was to reactivate my membership and start paying again. To top it off, I found out my account had been sent to collections with no prior notice. This entire experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and completely avoidable with proper communication. Make sure you fully understand their cancellation policies--and get everything in writing--before signing up.

I received 2 minutes of one on one instruction about punching combos and then joined the class to be thrown into complicated, intermediate cardio regimens that quickly overwhelmed me. I am a larger girl, I am not in the best shape, nor am I very athletic. If you are like me and you are attempting to get your feet wet in a new fitness option, I don't recommend an intro class at Title Boxing club. There might be other boxing classes that are more beginner friendly and more adept at catering to beginner skill sets. Also, if you don't already own a pair, you will need to buy $10 hand wraps prior to starting class.

After hours and hours of work and eating very healthily, I just wasn't seeing the results I wanted. I was considering hiring a personal trainer at my (old) gym but hesitated because they were all rather unseemly and I didn't want to have to spend much one-on-one time with any of them. Not when they seemed to think that my face was about 9 inches south of where it actually was whenever I talked to them. Family members had been talking up CrossFit for years and it had always fallen on deaf ears. "Blah blah blah ..CrossFit" I was completely turned off by just the thought. I had read plenty of people's anti-crossfit blogs and was quick to say "See, CrossFit is just a bad fad." Then there was the expense. But after looking at what I would be paying to hire one of those meathead trainers vs paying for a month's membership for CrossFit, it was actually considerably cheaper ($150/mo). What was the harm in trying? It can be hard to find if you don't know where you are going. 630 is located in the same large business complex as DeEtta's Bakery, but in one of the industrial buildings in back. Behind Naperville North HS's baseball field. I walked into this "box" at 630 and from the moment I stepped foot, I knew I'd never return to a standard gym again. No meatheads walking around pumping in front of mirrors. There were no women wearing makeup and jewelry, walking on treadmills while they watched TV and yacked on the phone(major, major pet-peeve). In fact, there were no treadmills at all. No TVs. No mirrors. No glitz. Just a few row machines, bar bells, pull-up bars, ropes, kettle bells, jump ropes etc... no fancy equipment. It felt like a nearly empty room comparatively. It wasn't empty though; it just lacked distractions. The people are supportive. They cheer you on. Give you high fives. Push you to do more. And they notice when you're not there. It's a community. The first week, I was doing things I'd never done before at standard gyms. And every day, there was a butt kicking workout (WOD) planned out for me. I just show up and do it. People are at all levels. From college age kids to retired individuals. It's literally for everyone. I'd always read stories about people trying to lift too much and then getting injured doing CrossFit. It was always one of the negatives I clung to before trying CF myself. That was not my experience here. They watch your form. Sometimes I'm told to increase my weights but sometimes I'm told my form is off because it's too heavy and to drop to a lower weight. Nobody wants anybody to get injured; nobody is being irresponsible with my health and wellbeing, but ultimately that is up to the participant. I love that there's no yearly contract to sign. No sign up fees. It's just your flat monthly charge. Once you sign up with them, you can pay online or make adjustments to your account. CrossFit ruined me from ever joining a regular gym ever again. I honestly find them to be completely repulsive now. I still keep a membership at a regular one, in case I want to have a run and the Chicago weather doesn't welcome it. I'll use an occasional treadmill, but walking into the standard gym always gives me an immediate reminder for why I'll never again be that girl who goes to spin classes, only working the same few muscles. It's all so mind-numbingly boring to me now. Boring, yet distracting. I don't miss the women in the locker room putting on make-up and perfume *before* they head out to the floor to pretend they are going to workout. Or people who are more concerned with how they look while they exercise rather than how they're performing. I don't miss working out with TVs surrounding me. And I certainly don't miss the spin classes where I had to listen to Nickelback!! Joining CrossFit 630, was the best decision I ever made.

They could never get rid of me. If you want the best full-body workouts, you have to give it a try. You do movements that you won't do working out solo. The workouts are so creative. I had switched to Lifetime at the beginning of 2021 because of the childcare center. I am already back to F45. No classes compare. You get a personal trainer d/t the smaller class sizes, hands- on corrections and modifications when needed. The owners are truly gems. I find myself talking in their awesome accents when I get back home They care about their clients' feedback and take it into consideration. Special shout-out to trainer Julie - she better never leave. So, if you want to get in a great workout, be surrounded by a personable and fun gym community and leave talking in an English accent, look no further.

Being Jewish, I asked a front desk staff if they could put a Menorah up since they were putting a Christmas tree up. The answer immediately was, "I don't think so". I asked her if she would ask Amy-the owner if this was possible. The next day when I came in for my workout, the same front desk person said she asked Amy and the answer was no-without any explanation. I sent Amy three emails over the next several weeks to discuss and she never returned any of them. I hurt my back last month and have not been able to workout. I sent Amy an email asking her if I can talk to get about crediting me for the month I missed. Guess what, she never returned me email ‍. Also, I have tried to call the studio several times over the last few days and no one answers the phone. Very disappointing because I like all the trainers, the workouts, and the people I work out with.

I always came back because I love the gym and their programs. Here's my full story so that hopefully management flags it and I can get some support because they refused to work with me: Todays January 5th. I joined this year and took advantage of a 3 month promo of returning members $50 for 3 months. I used all 3 months and understood there was a 30 day cancellation policy. I went in specifically more than 30 days in advance to fill out my cancellation form because I joined another program that was more affordable. December 3rd I went in and spoke with a woman who was helpful, and shouldn't be named in this issue, to specifically sign a cancellation form with enough time to respect their policy. She told me that I may as well also fill out a freeze form while I was in there, so that it's covered as well as an option if I changed my mind before cancellation on January 4th. I thought that was fine but was in there communicated obviously that I was cancelling. Why would I come in to freeze it, and also be signing a termination contract? That wouldn't make sense. I called last week twice, only got a voicemail both times, and left messages both times to make sure my cancellation form was processed and that I didn't change my mind. Again, when in there I specifically said I was cancelling and filled out that form, while only filling the extra freeze form so it was available if I changed my mind. This Monday I called for a third time and got a man that seemed somewhat personally upset about me leaving the gym. He said he couldn't find either of my forms and that "he'd just have to take my word for it," but insisted he'd send both forms again electronically and to back date it to when I cancelled in December. He said he'd freeze my account while he discussed this with management so he could find out what to do so I wouldn't be charged January 4th. Obviously implied by the paragraphs above I was charged the full $170 yesterday. Today the 5th I got a call back from Veronica telling me that they would not honor the cancellation form OR freeze form because they were waiting to hear my final "decision" as if I'm still up in the air as a potential client after this length of effort to cancel properly, get told to fill a freeze in case, clarify I'm cancelling, call multiple times to do their job knowing this would happen and leave two voice messages, call again Monday to find out all my stuff was lost and he'd figure it out, then get a call after they got their money saying they'll be honoring neither form. The hell is wrong with this gym and why do I feel like I had to cover myself 5 times over, while doing their job and calling to make sure they did what they said they'd be doing anyway, just to be called a day after they took money anyway? This location scammed me. I have absolutely no idea how anybody cancels a gym membership here. Their final staff members I talked to were extremely firm and dismissive with a black and white "no" you're being charged as if their job was on the line and my payment personally was their money. I asked if there was anybody else I could talk to at all and the woman on the phone said no "she talks to the owner often," and asked if I was allowed to dispute the charge on my end. I'll never join Orange theory again after this handcuffing to swindle less than $200 and staff members acting like they'll live and die by one month of my membership. I was asked to fill out two cancellation forms, the hell.
