I had a slow leak and the first dealership I went to recommended a whole new tire, which, including labor, was pretty darned pricey. One of the mechanics there took me aside, though, and recommended Cars Need Tires. I went, and bang: instant service, and honest. No, I didn't need a new tire. It was a simple patch job. One, two, three, the job was done, and the price was so low I could barely believe it. How often nowadays do you get your car serviced with no waits, no delays, and a price you're happy to pay? My family has been bringing our vehicles to Tom for well over 22 years. He knows luxury vehicles. He worked on my dad's Jag when it was brand-new in the 90s and then many cars later he actually fully restored the vehicle in the early 2000's and got it in working condition. I've trusted him with every car that I've owned, from the Buick to the Nissan and now even my new vehicle. Tom is honest and does amazing quality work. My parents have trusted him for years and now my brother, I and mom still support his business and the next generation (my niece) has even brought her car to Tom. Honestly, for me, there's no other option. Tom's amazing in our book.

His prices were fair and he answered all of my questions. I love how honest he is and how he called me to provide updates. He didn't have a part in store for my oil change and called me to provide me with the option to go elsewhere or wait until he could get a new part. I decided to wait because I trusted him. I had a service B performed on my Mercedes and asked that he also check my entire car to see if there was anything else that needed to be repaired. He later called me, found that my rear breaks were worn and provided me with a quote of the cost and I asked if he could replace them. On the day I picked up my car, Jerry was very friendly and took time to explain everything to me and even helped me replace my car license plates and put on my registration sticker. I don't live in Rochester, but when I rolled into town wth my 15-year-old Subaru, the exhaust system (resonator and exhaust pipe) just fell apart. I could tell it was busted because suddenly my meager 2.6 liter engine sounded like it was revving for a Nascar race. I only had a day in Rochester to burn, so I set an appointment for 8am at the nearest Mavis which seemed to be the safest bet for getting a quick turnaround. When I arrived on the dot at 8am, they informed me they didn't have an exhaust mechanic and redirected me to Cole Muffler (also a Mavis branch) across town. When I got to Cole/Mavis, I was greeted by Tyler (? I think) and he let me know that they would inspect the car and let me know ASAP what needs to be done. After 20 minutes or so he escorted me to the car and pointed to the exact parts that were failing (rusted) and why they should be replaced. He gave me the option of letting the less rusted pipe stay. No upsell. I opted for the full replacement because it was time for this car (16 years old). He told me it would be 1.5-2 hours so I took a long walk. When I got back the car was in tip-top shape and the bill was less than I feared. They charged for parts plus $160 for labor. This included a new resonator and new exhaust pipe. Didn't need a new muffler. Total was about $650 including labor. I really appreciate this branch of Mavis/Cole for attending to the needs of my car in such a professional manner, and on the spot when I needed to have the car for other business in Rochester. This branch brings a positive vote of confidence for Mavis, even if it isn't on their main sign.

The people at D&B Auto, Bruce in particular, are honest, competent, knowledgable, patient--everything you could possibly want in auto shop mechanics. Or, for that matter, friends. This is a fine shop; not only in their service, but in the thoughtful advice they give. I'm a fan for life, and will be taking my car there as long as D&B is standing. Bruce: you rock! And by the way: everyone hates wait times, but not everyone knows that less than a five minute stroll away is the Abundance Co-op, a somewhat hippy-dippy but amiable natural foods place with a large cafeteria area, good coffee, free books, soup and sandwiches, internet.
