If you're in need of some major pampering but don't want to take out a small loan or use up your entire tax return, Fabu in downtown Decatur is the perfect place to go! I've enjoyed their Petite Package twice (most recently this weekend)... it's a 1/2 hour aromatherapy Swedish massage and a 1/2 hour botanical facial for $75. (Or free if you have a super great boyfriend who knows that you need some R&R! Woohoo!) Tina gives an awesome massage! I lost all sense of time but I'm fairly sure it lasted longer than 30 minutes. I was a blissed out puddle of goo by the time Lisa was starting on my facial. She asked me about my skin care regimen and gave me some great pointers, without any pressure to buy anything. She mixed up two samples for me to take home, as well. My skin was happy and glowing from all the attention! I have really sensitive skin, too, but the products were gentle and I haven't had any breakouts or irritation. If you sign up for the Fabu e-mail list, you'll get notices about all the specials they have throughout the year. I've been here for an eyebrow waxing, too, and I highly recommend it! I don't splurge on waxing often (the nail place does it for $8, but it's not nearly as relaxing)...but they had a deal one month for 30% off, so I went... and I swear my eyebrows have never looked so good! 25 minutes of very careful grooming will do that, I guess. And whatever sort of skin calming cream they put on me afterwards worked wonders. (I usually leave an eyebrow-waxing session looking like I got a third-degree sunburn while wearing a ski mask.) In fact, as I recollect my amazing eyebrow waxing experience, I'm wondering why I don't splurge on that more often.... hmm, I should make another appointment. read more

This place needs to go out of business. My lady was going here to get her brows done and during one of her visits they caused a chemical burn on her face that caused her great pain and damaged her skin. They didn't offer anything to make up for this - in fact, they said it was probably due to some medication she was taking that reacted to the chemicals. If that's the case, why didn't it happen before now? The manager flat-out refused to do anything to compensate for the damage done. Fabu, you suck. The only reason you haven't seen big ol' angry me come through your doors for compensation is because my girlfriend is MUCH nicer than me and begged me to not get involved. I hope I deter at least some people from walking through these doors. read more

I have a horrible habit of squeezing my skin upon the first sign of a blemish, attempting to force out nonexistent pus and oil until it bleeds and becomes an unsightly scab. And then I continue to pick it until I spiral into a deep depression and finally let it heal. Thus I succumbed to the Hand-Picked Scoutmob deal for Fabu Face Spa. The esthetician, April, applied an Eminence Organic Fruit & Vegetable peel, which heated up and slightly itched my face per the paprika. April spent a significant portion of the 70-minute session rubbing my scalp, encouraging circulation in my face, and massaging my neck and clavicle area - honestly, I sort of hoped she was going to go lower. I particularly appreciated April's music rotation: a lovely classical assortment. How refreshing to relax to Chopin as opposed to Enya or echoing Shawnee chants. This is the first facial from which I departed with a noticeable improvement in my skin without any redness or other irritation. I of course felt the need to purchase a high-end exfoliant containing persimmon or hibiscus or something like that from the storefront. I called Fabu Face Spa in order to book a facial and bikini wax. The woman who answered the phone put me on hold for 5 minutes and then hung up on me. When I called back, the woman (clearly not concerned with how I was treated) merely stated that she was "ringing up a client." As a 1st timer to spas, I had an amazing time at Fabu. The staff is super friendly and I cannot say enough about Tina, the masseuse. The swedish massage was my gitft to myself for my bday, and my body could not have been happier! At first, I was nervous, but she managed to calm me down, giving me advice and suggestions about the different techniques she could use, in order to make my experience the best! I love Leslie at Fabu! I've been going to her for my eyebrow waxes and occasional facial peels for about a year and a half now. She does an awesome job, is very professional yet personable and easy to chat with-not awkward like it can be sometimes (or maybe that's just me?). Mixed review - fabulous massage, bad facial. When talking about the products before the facial, the technician mentioned that it was a paprika product, and would feel warm. I asked her if it was OK for sensitive skin, and she assured me it was. The product felt quite hot when it was on, but I stuck with it because of her comment. My face was red and puffy yesterday, and today I have sore spots around my nose and mouth. I also have a small bruise on my face from a painful extraction. I don't think this was a good treatment for sensitive skin. I would not get another facial here, but I would definitely get another massage from Mo - she found sore muscles I didn't know I had. read more

I took my mom to Fabu Face Spa for a birthday facial last week. My mom had a 70 minute facial with the owner, Jessica, and I had a 70 minute facial with Lisa. Both were INCREDIBLE, and here are a few things that really stood out to me about our experience: * The Spa itself is beautifully decorated. From the moment that you enter, you feel like you are in an oasis. It's obvious that no detail has been ignored - there are even beautiful wood sculptures on the ceilings that you can admire during your treatment! * The Fabu staff is professional but also very warm and welcoming. They've perfectly struck the balance between being clinical and friendly. * The facial itself was very thorough and tailored to the individual client. My mom and I compared notes after and learned that we had each had unique and incredible treatments. * Lisa demonstrated a deep background knowledge of skin care that you do not often see. I have had a rash on my face for months that even the dermatologist misdiagnosed. Lisa immediately identified it as an allergy to my toothpaste. Toothpaste! So simple! So brilliant! Today I wanted to try a brow wax and tint. I already have a pretty thick brow and usually get them waxed but never tried tinting. I have never been to Fabu Face Spa before and had a great experience! I have always had my eyebrows waxed in a salon but never in a spa. This was very relaxing and my brows look amazing! I highly recommend Michelle. Just recently had a waxing and was very pleased with the results. After years of getting threading (so painful), I decided to start getting waxed instead. It was absolutely painless in comparison. There was no part of the process where I felt uncomfortable or unsure, the mark of a true professional. After marking the rest of the day off because I thought my face would be a red mess, I left feeling and looking (almost) completely normal. Michelle also gave me helpful tips on how to avoid breakouts because of my sensitive skin which is something I've never been asked or told in the past. I had the eyebrow henna application and it was wonderful. The staff member who did the service was so nice and helpful. I have fair skin and she assured me it wouldn't look to dark once applied to my face. She cleaned up my brows and shaped them nicely too. I can't say enough about this spa. I was in Atlanta for work and checked out Fabu on a whim and am so glad I did. My skin had been acting up because of the heat and change in weather and I was having more breakouts than usual. I booked an appointment with Lisa L after reading her profile on the Fabu website and had the best facial ever!! After evaluating my skin, Lisa was able to decide which treatment would be best to treat my troubled skin. Lisa was very gentle and knowledgable. She informed me of what she was doing every step of the way, while still leaving quiet time for me to doze off. It was an amazingly relaxing facial and scalp massage. I was most impressed by how well my skin cleared up within a few days. Whatever Lisa did worked and I was happy to attend work functions later in the week with a glowing face. I would highly recommend Lisa L for your facial. My ONLY negative = I do not live local and can't experience her healing hands on a regular basis! I really liked this place and will go back. I have to say that I don't love the more formal spas that seem too haughty; Fabu was much more relaxing and casual. I had the Steamy Wonder body treatment with exfoliating scrub and then an eyelash tint. Oh-la-la. I had a great body scrub and then was 'tented' neck down and had steam treatment on my body, nice. The nice oils from the scrub just heated into my skin all the while receiving a facial and head massage. Afterwards the excess scrub was wiped off. I felt wonderful and my skin was sooo soft. My only negative comment would be that the bathroom is dingy and borderline unacceptable. read more

I just got my first set of eyelash extensions. April provided these and was very good at explaining the details of what she was doing and how to care for them. Heres what to expect: First, make sure to empty your bladder. You will be laying down for a while. They arent easy to do so it takes time. Make sure you have the time to relax and let her do her magic. For me she tinted my eyelashes which makes them rich and full looking already. This is a quick process but sometimes will sting a tiny bit (but is 100% safe). She will use saline if there is any sensitivity. I had none but she was good to warn so i would know it is natural. So, once you are laying down, she has to tape your bottom lashes down. she applies so salve so the tape doesn't irritate and then carefully lines the tape up. It is a VERY weird feeling. The next part is she tapes your eye lids up a little. not open, more like a lift. This helps her work on the best surface. Basically your eyes will now be closed for a while. The feelings of the application are generally very light. Its a neat feeling, kinda like eyelash tickles. every now and then are some pressure or a sensation of the tweezers touching your eyelid. Nothing hurts though. As she applies lashes she starts from the bridge of your nose side and works her way out. She goes from side to side (eye to eye) to keep them balanced on each side. My eyelashes have never looked so great! They are very natural and dont need ANY mascara! I imagine if i added that i would have the sexiest eyes ever! April was extremely professional.
