Get all your picnic needs here. Friendly servers. We've been here when it's been massively crowded with lines out the door in early October and in late May when we had no issue ordering ice cream immediately. Even though I am giving this a (4) stars its truly the only time I have been disappointed. The staff has no energy, high school kids that need a lesson in hospitality and knowledge of things they sell. The girl scooping ice cream couldn't tell you where the fudge was from and they sell it. Literally next to the register. You could sell the best product in the world but you still need an educated and trained staff. I live here in Bandon, I love the food. I love the cheese. I love the ambience It is absolutely a beautiful building inside and out. There's a little creek that runs along the side where you can hang out in the shade. I buy the little premade gift boxes they have for my family every year for Christmas. " they just love it " they are very generous with their ice cream as well and it is yummy. Most of the staff that I have dealt with is very polite spot on and have really good suggestions, especially when it comes to buying the variety boxes of cheese. However, there are two women that work there that judge you by your appearance. I because I am a local patron of the face route creamery I have been known to go in there with shorts and T-shirt in the middle of August , new shorts, new shirt Nike tennis shoes. I walked in to pick up three bags of cheese curds as I had family coming from Portland to visit. The woman smirked at me and looked me up and down. She asked me if she could help me or if I was lost. I told her I was in there for three bags of cheese curds and then asked her. Why would you ask if I was lost? She told me that this is a very nice establishment and most of our business is tourist business and we are not accustomed to seeing people walk in with shirt and shorts. I told her that that was rude and continued with our purchase of three bags of cheese curds. So if you are a tourist, I would not recommend going there wearing a shirt and shorts brand new or not. Other than that, I would highly recommend the face rock creamery. When they first opened up, they had to most perfect Havarti cheese I have ever ate. EDIT: I did finally get a response from the info email address. They did refund the purchase price of the cheese, offering an explanation that "USPS does not allow the shipper, just the receiver, to dispute the shipping charges". Adjusted my rating to denote the eventual effort to make things right, and expect Face Rock will be filing a claim of their own to compensate themselves for their loss. Still, 2 days after the point in time the problem was reported is pretty long. Original review: While an in-person experience may be significantly better, I can't say their online shop/service instills any sense of loyalty or willingness to buy from them. My one and only experience has been extremely poor. To start, their info and orders email accounts don't appear to be manned, or they just chose to ignore the messages I sent to both addresses, with my order number in the subject. I started emailing them when USPS had miss-routed my shipment asking if it would survive the extra transit time, should I be concerned, etc. No responses to any of them. When my shipment finally arrived, a full 6 days after it was shipped out which in and of itself was a full 5 days after my order was placed, the cold packs had long since given out, the cheese was at 72 degrees Fahrenheit, definitely not refrigerated or safe. So I did exactly as their FAQ on their website stated to do, I called their Orders and Shipment department the next day (they were closed the day my package arrived), which rang to voicemail. No big deal, I left a voicemail with my name, phone number, order number, and the issue. After 3 hours, I didn't get a call back, so I called again. This time I finally talked with someone who essentially did not care and told me to file a claim with the post office, but she'd talk with her manager and see what they could do and call me back the following morning. If you're guessing I never did get that call, you're correct. Since Face Rock has made it clear they have no interest in working with me to make things right or help, I've filed a complaint with Shop and with my credit card. Thanks for making my one and only experience with your company so poor that my friends and I no longer have any interest in your products. I hope the $30 you got from me was worth it. read more

Cheese is a 10/10, and they have a board that shows wine and cheese pairings. Went off that and was able to pair a riesling wine with an alpine cheese. So good! Only bummer was that they didn't make their own icecream... you can get Umpqua icecream anywhere. read more

Was up at my Aunt's house in Bandon, and wanted to hit this place up! I got some ice cream (Cranberry Cheesecake) and some cheese (Vampire Slayer garlic cheddar, and some Aged Cheddar cheese). Ice cream portions are MASSIVE. A childs scoop is literally 3 scoops. A regular is like 4 scoops. The cheeses were great! A little pricey, but worth it for the quality. The cheese they make here is a very good quality and has a large variety of types of cheese. Today I went in to order a philly cheese steak sandwich. We sat there waiting for quite a while until I pulled out my receipt to check what time I purchased the sandwich. It took 30 minutes before I got it, cost 8 bucks and they squished it flat in a panini press! I kid you not! This philly on a hoagie roll was less than half an inch thick! Check the pic! I put my water bottle next to it to show just how flat they smashed it. It was also very light on ingredients. The cheese making is done in an area visible but walled off by glass, fascinating to watch them make cheese. The wines are a variety of local and well known brands, the ice cream is absolutely smooth and creamy Umpqua Dairy, but the food... well, 3 out of 4 isn't bad I suppose, but to make me wait 30 minutes for a sandwich I could slip in my wallet?!? read more

Hubby questioned and the checker claimed we didn't buy the right things. We LOVED this place! We came back the following day for another round! Our first go round, they had many flavors we hadn't tried in addition to some of our favorite, so we gave them a shot. Absolutely delicious! I'm sensitive to dairy but sometimes I risk it all, surprisingly, I wasn't affected by the creamy which was an added bonus! Honestly, we were CONFUSED at the prices!! One scoop of ice cream was $1.25 the staff did not PLAY when it came to scooping, they really know how to scoop Unfortunately, when we came back the second go round, the line was out the door. We were faced with having to change our mind on our flavors when it was our turn. Again, the flavors were some we hadn't tried before but overall we enjoyed what we chose. There is plenty of seating down stairs and up stairs with plenty of napkins on the table. Much appreciated, sincerely a toddler mom. I had high hopes of getting to taste local made cheeses and watch production. But I had to ask for a sample and they broke out bags of the two cheeses that were being promoted as specials. Most verses in showcase are not made there, just for sale. We decided to get the five cheese sampler tray and picked from a lust of 10 cheeses. It came with nuts, a few crackers, dried apricots and cranberries, fig jelly( imported to Miami, Fl) and the cheese. Ordered a draft beer that was literally 1/3 foam head. Cheese was ok, liked two better than the others but decided $28 or so a pound was way too much . So $34.79 spent and had a good snack! read more

This is a great place with cheese samples and wines to match. There is also a very nicely priced ice cream bar for the coast. (Umpqua ice cream, very good) However they also make sandwiches and this is where my complaint comes from. Face rock makes sandwiches unbelievably skimpy. 8.50 for one piece of cheese and one piece of dainty meat between the bread. I love this place but I will never order food here again.
