Second time coming here for a blinking D light on my Honda Pilot. My regular mechanic recommended a transmission shop, but I thought I would try him again as he did so well with my last issue. I needed my Jeep Wrangler's front calipers (as well as pads/ rotors) replaced and was quoted $940 at another shop. I called this shop on a whim and received a significantly lower quote. What's even better, when I dropped off my Jeep for the repair, Aviv called to inform me that I only really needed the sticking caliper replaced as the other one was fine. This of course lowered the quote even more; I'm sure other shops would've taken advantage of this situation. I was completely impressed by the honesty and quality of work at this shop! This is my go-to auto shop for everything from oil changes to advanced auto repairs! Everyone is kind, and they have speedy service. They update me on my car as soon as they possibly can, and they call me as many times as possible - which I appreciate because this is unheard of in most shops. It's obvious they care about you and your car. A little while ago, the owner suggested I invest in wheel locks because he knew how many tires were being stolen off peoples' cars in my own neighborhood. I did buy wheel locks, and because of his advice I feel my car is secure. These guys do a much better job than my own dealership; I think that speaks volumes. I had to start looking for a new place to take my car this week because the guy that I've always taken my car to recently retired (Omar at O&J Auto). I am a previous Omar customer at O&J's Auto. I recently moved and had to look for a new mechanic. BIG MISTAKE! I am so glad Aviv has taken on his customers. I called them yesterday looking for help with a car problem. I couldn't get to that side of town to bring it to them, but they helped me tremendously with telling me about actual pricing of the car and what the mechanic should be doing. The mechanic tried to overprice his service/parts by almost $200 and if it wasn't for Aviv helping me out, I wouldn't have known that. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough!! If there were more than five stars available, they'd get 'em! I have had 3 different cars serviced here, and they have diagnosed and repaired each one at lower prices than most other shops (today's brake job was $80 less than I was quoted elsewhere!). They do NOT try to talk you unto unneeded repairs, or gouge you in any way. They don't talk down to you - they explain exactly what is needed. Needless to say, they do great work. Factory Muffler in Chicago replaced the muffler and pipe in my 1996 Honda Accord in June of 2009. They charged me $320 and it took approximately 2 hours. Aviv and his receptionist were amazing. They're both able to clearly articulate and communicate with you about the what's and why's of your repair. They call you by name, they give you reliable timeframes, and they're able to order parts from other locations and have them delivered the same day. Aviv actually took me into the garage and clearly explained and showed me what was going on with the muffler. They're also able to have a reasonable conversation with you about what you should expect considering the age and mileage of the vehicle. They're not trying to oversell you on anything - they just fix what needs to be fixed at a reasonable price. I feel lucky to have found Factory Mufflers, because now I have a 'guy' who will help me with my car, and I don't have to feel so intimidated about shopping and bartering on the price. Don't be fooled by the name, they'll fix just about anything on your car - not just mufflers. If you're doubtful, just call them up first. I am particular about my car and he has always worked with me to make me extremely happy every time I leave his shop. When I wanted original parts for my repairs, he either gets it or let's me bring them in. He has continuously taken a look at my car when I have smaller issues and has never given me an issue about it. His repairs are done on time or before. And he has always taken out the time to answer any questions I have, even when he's been busy. But it's not fair to only speak about Aviv in this review. Everyone at the shop does a great job. I have not ever left feeling like I need to check anything to make sure it was done. I know it was done and done right. The most honest human being you will ever meet!!! Would give him 10 stars if I could. Just wanted to review this auto mechanic shop for a while, and finally got around to it. Recently I had some tire issues, and decided to go to a chain place, where the guy came back with a $3000 bill for a litany of things that needed to be done. I knew that I didn't trust the persons sole judgement so I decided to go to this place, because from previous encounters the guy who runs this shop is the most honest person I have ever met. Turns out there are some things that need to be done to my car, but according the Aviv it was only going to be $700. In fact just to give you an example of how honest this guy is, while the work was being done I told him about the $3000 bill from the other place and told him that I was wondering whether or not I should tell him, and he totally understood and even went as far as to explain the logic the other place had in giving me that bill, and explained why he thinks some of those items were unnecessary for me at this time, or unnecessary altogether. As someone who is not very car savvy, it is hard to trust auto mechanics because what they say goes, and because it is their business a lot of people have reason to be disingenuous. Aviv is a very honest human being that will not lie to you or be unreasonable. I'm pretty sure that if I win the lottery and needed someone to watch my millions of dollars without stealing a penny this guy would be the first person I would call. Please give him your business, good hearted people like this need to be extolled. I'm so upset...so upset that I didn't find this place sooner!! The staff was extremely professional and the price was exactly what I was told it would be. They did my brake pads and rotors in no time and gave me top of the line hardware. For brake pads only they are extremely competitive with pricing. Dealership wanted $265 per brake pad. Firestone wanted $200 per brake pad. Factory only wanted $80 per. I ended up having to get rotors too because I rode with my car grinding for so long but that's my own fault. Overall, great decision to go to Factory. I'll be back and telling my friends! read more

Unfortunately my car wouldn't turn on, and the battery wasn't the problem. Factory muffler were able to fix my car quickly and without having to tow my car. They were VERY honest that the problem wasn't serious and while I expected to spend over 2K for the repair, It costed me $250. I recommend working with this auto repair company. read more

Went to the Skokie location and had a great experience. My climate controller (dial that controls temperature) was broken. Jack fixed it in 20 minutes and charged me $45. Mazda had tried to charge me $160 for inspection to diagnose the problem, not including fixing it. These guys are honest, competent, and overall fantastic. read more

I cant believe I've never reviewed this place. I've been coming here for years. So, for my 50th review, yeah I know, can you believe it, 50, I'd like to celebrate by giving my favorite and most honest mechanic his well deserved accolades. Aviv, the owner, has always taken the time to explain to me and his customers what the problems are and what to look for in the future. He's never given me the old "better get that fixed because you might crash or take your life if you don't " bit. Believe me, I've heard that more than once in my life from OTHER shady mechanics. Not these guys. They will explain to you what's wrong, how they will fix it, if anything else looks suspect and a timeline of when you should expect to be suspect. I'll explain. last time I went in because I had a blow out of my rear passenger tire on 294 at 10pm on a Sun. Yes, dark and construction strewn. Well, I changed the flat to the full-size Pirelli spare. I finally made it to Factory Muffler 2 days later. They put my baby on a lift and showed me that all my tires were riding on half wire and half rubber from wear and tear I'd put on what now seems the original set of tires ( my baby has 119k miles, yes one hundred and nineteen Thousand miles). They gave me options. These guys gave me options. They didn't just see the Pirelli and say, "ok, you need 4 more Pirelli tires, they gave me 3 other options, including one that involved keeping the full-sized spare. They also warned me of my wearing brakes, not "you better get brakes or you're going to crash when you leave". They calmly said that I had some time but to watch for certain symptoms before bringing it in. A savings of about $250. Cha-ching, considering what I was in for with the tires. All in all, this place is stellar. The service, the work, and above all, the honesty and integrity that comes with bringing my baby (Audi) here. Kudos to Factory Muffler for continuing to surpass my expectations. read more

This is the best shop ever! They are honest, their work is high quality and their rates are very reasonable- I have used them on a number of occassions; to replace my muffler, they fixed my clutch, oxygen sensors, turn signals, and accurately diagnosed mechanical problems on my 13 year old car, Suburu forrester, and suggested easy and inexpensive bandaid treatments opposed to spending alot of $$ to repair.
