As a first-time customer, I came in with what I thought was a simple issue--my 2017 Toyota RAV4 key fob suddenly stopped working. I'd replaced the battery before, so I tried that again... nothing. My (very mechanically inclined) husband tried too--still nothing. That kicked off the search for a replacement, and wow--what a frustrating experience. The dealership quoted me $600 to replace and program a new key. Automotive locksmiths were all over the place--$180, $250--and the whole process felt vague and transactional, like you couldn't get a straight answer without jumping through hoops. Then I found Avondale Auto Repair through the Costco Auto Program--and everything changed. Rick answered the phone, and within seconds I felt reassured. He was straightforward, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest. Instead of trying to sell me something, he explained the pros and cons--how aftermarket keys often don't last, and how they source directly from the dealer but can usually save customers about $100. No pressure. Just real, helpful information. When I came in, that same feeling continued. The shop itself is clean, bright, and welcoming--nothing like the typical auto repair environment. Nathan (Rick's brother-in-law) was at the front desk and immediately made us feel comfortable. Friendly, genuine, and incredibly helpful. Before recommending anything, he opened up my key and inspected it to confirm it wasn't just a battery issue. That alone told me everything--I wasn't being upsold. They were actually trying to help. Then Rick came back from lunch and did the same thing again, just to double check. I paid a deposit and they said they'd call once they got the key from the dealership. It took a few days. Even though they were short-staffed they week of my FOB order, Nathan handled everything with professionalism and kindness. He called three different dealerships to track down my key (since it was out of stock everywhere), coordinated the order, and made the whole process seamless. When I posted a project, a 60,000 mile service for my 2015 Infiniti Q50, they were the fastest and first to reply. Once I received a few estimates, that's where I went to get the work done. The service at Berman's Infiniti was $2,499 plus tax. Avondale did everything and more for $1,260. HALF! It included replacing every fluid - oil, brake, trans, differential, coolant - plus all filters, tire rotation, throttle cleaning, and more. I had the car in at 8:30 and it was done by 4:00. I've waited at Berman's 3 hours just to get an old change and tires rotated. Not only that, but the guys there were great to deal with, especially Nabor. I'm moving out of state soon, but if I wasn't this would be the only place I would take my car. I cannot recommend Avondale Auto Repair highly enough. Make it 6 stars. read more

I honestly have never had such a great mechanic experience. I took my car in for some suspension work, but also had a few other things that needed looked at. I had been taking my car around to a few different shops in the area, and wasn't really having any luck, so I was pretty exhausted by trying to explain everything, but right away, they were just like "we'll just do a full inspection of everything!" I wasn't fully confident that they'd catch much (as other shops had not been able to catch anything going on). I took the car in right as they closed on a Wednesday, and by like 10am the next morning, I was sent a link to TekMetric - an app they use to document their entire process, including photos, diagnoses, and individual notes from the tech. The total on the repairs was MUCH higher than I anticipated, and I was a bit freaked out, but when I called them, I spoke with the person who inspected my car, and we went through each item individually over the phone, and discussed what was immediate safety concerns, things I SHOULD do but could get away with, and things that are more preventative measures that will need to be addressed down the line. They were very upfront with me about the timeline, which was a very quick turnaround. I've seriously have never been so impressed with a shop before. Their labor cost per hour was a little bit higher than what I saw from other local shops, but honestly, for this level of service, and how confident I was moving forward with the work, it was worth it. read more

I 100% recommend this shop! Sammy is amazing! I definitely will be telling all of my friends and family to go to the shop! If I ever need to work on my car I will definitely go back. I knew exactly what was wrong with my car before going to the shop and was told by a dealership that I had to take apart my dashboard and that it was gonna take four days to get my car fixed!!! From my own knowledge and research, I knew that the dealership was just probably trying to take advantage of me or just trying to make some money off of me. I knew that the issue was not something that would take four days to replace and was pretty sure that I also did not have to take apart my dashboard! Sammy was remarkably honest and upfront with me. I called him several times as I was calling around to different shops. He got my car done in 3 hours! My appointment was at 10am and by 1pm my car was done! The service I needed was replacing my blower motor and blower motor resistor, my cabin and engine filters replaced. Sammy made sure it was done quickly. Excellent service. Responsive. Super nice! Quality work and everything was handled digitally. They provided pictures and descriptions of the issues after inspection. They even have a multiple choice system for you to select which repairs you want to commit to. The only issue is they forgot to replace my rear wiper. But as soon as I brought it to their attention they apologized and addressed it immediately. So a small ding for the oversight. I went in to get my oil changed and also get the back bumper on my car because it didn't have one. I also asked them to look over the car and tell me if I needed to do anything else. Usually when I do that, I end up with a list of stuff like power steering fluid on my car with electric steering, but instead they sent me an easy-to-read quote with a list of each thing my car needed, a picture and description of why it needed what it did, and an option to approve each individual thing. I approved them all because they were very reasonably priced and I could see why my car needed them. They changed my oil, air filters, tires, and back bumper and did stuff like an alignment in one day! I'll be returning for all of my oil changes and anything I need for my car. I was very impressed for my first visit here. The phone call to make the appointment was promptly answered. Their waiting room was clean. My oil change and overview evaluation did take a bit of time but I figured it would being a Saturday. All was good until I got back to my daughter's new garage and after having it parked and leaving the new garage, my kids noticed a fair amount of oil on the new garage floor! Initially I thought it may have been leftover from the oil change but by the end of the week it was definitely determined not to be. They were most accommodating in having my car immediately seen & apologized for the inconvenience. It was determined to be a faulty new oil filter causing the problem. I rate them 4.5 stars only bc it was an inconvenience and used up more time than I had planned. I rate them 5 stars for customer service as they upgraded the oil filter recognizing they had previous issues with the oil filter they initially used and my oil change confirmed their suspicions at no extra charge to me & provided me with oil cleaner for the new garage floor my car caused at my daughter's. That is good customer service and for that I would definitely go back. read more

I found this autoshop through a Google search and they were able to schedule a last minute appointment for my Jeep Wrangler. It was a bit confusing to find the entrance of the shop because they only have 1 driveway facing the street but once I pulled in, I walked into the lobby and was helped right away. I needed an oil change and full inspection ahead of a long roadtrip and it was complete within 2 hours despite how busy their shop was. They sent me text notifications and didn't try to upsell me on any unnecessary services; it made me feel like I could trust them, especially because of how friendly their staff in the lobby was. read more

I coordinated to have a pre-purchase inspection completed for a car I was buying out of state. The dealer brought the car to the shop where it was inspected and I paid $128.40 around April 7, 2021. The inspection I received was a pdf containing a list of checks and just a check mark symbol next to each one without any detailed information about the inspection item. Each item checked just had a green check mark next to it but no elaboration on details. The inspection suggested that nothing was wrong with the car. I was a little concerned with the vagueness of the report so I called the shop and spoke to someone about the condition of the car. The most I could get out of them was that "the tires might need to be replaced within the next 6 months". I ultimately decided to purchase this car. When the car was delivered, I soon discovered a lot of issues that should have been obvious if the inspection really happened. The car was delivered to me in CA around a week after the inspection. The car was delivered with 2 nails in the front tire. The right side of the car was visibly 2 inches lower than the left due to suspension problems, tires were worn unevenly, cracked, dated 2016, and rear tires only 1/32in above legal tread depth, the rear lower control arms were bent and rubbed together and against the rear sway bar when driving causing an audible noise, broken headlight level sensor on delivery caused by bent rear lower control arm hitting it, oil leaks present at the oil filter housing gasket and oil pan gasket that leaked 7 quarts of oil in fewer than 4k miles of driving, power steering rack leaking power steering fluid into the tie rod boots, battery outputting a low voltage triggering dash lights, worn brake pads with less than 30% life left, airbag light was intermittently on after delivery, parking brake didn't engage properly causing the car to roll when parked on a hill, coolant was low, disa valve was unplugged on delivery, faulty oil level sensor on delivery (no way to really catch this one ahead of time), audible noises from drive belt tensioners and pulleys on delivery, cracked drive belt and ac belt on delivery, and oil leaking through exhaust side camshaft position sensor to its electrical connector. I suspect the dealer bribed for a false inspection. Knowing very little about cars at the time, many of these issues were still very obvious on delivery day. I wish I knew about these issues before purchasing the car because it would have allowed me to negotiate price with the dealer. I feel I ended up way overpaying for the car in the condition I received it and I directly blame the shop that conducted the "inspection". I have serious doubts about this shop's priority of customer safety to pass a car with such safety issues on an inspection I purchased. Nails in a tire, blown suspension (when I removed the old struts, I could collapse them with my hands), bent/broken control arms, and faulty airbag systems are things that kill people. None of these issues were noted in the report and none of these issues were disclosed when I called to question the inspection report. I wouldn't advise anyone to trust this shop. read more

As others have said, I 100% recommend this shop. I have an old 2007 Lexus that had multiple, expensive problems, including faulty catalytic converters, engine coolant temperature sensors, among others. I was searching for a shop that is reliable and honest, and I'm so happy that I found Avondale Auto Repair. I can't say enough great things about Sammy. He is professional, knows what he's talking about, and walked me through in detail all the issues with my car. On top of that, the cost for all repairs was incredibly reasonable. I have my own car scanner, so I already knew the problems with the car and a proximation of how much money it would cost to repair those. The codes in my scanner and the ones from this shop were on the same page--the shop didn't come up with unnecessary or made-up fixes--and the cost estimate I was given was on par or below I was expecting. Moreover, in previous months I had gone to another auto repair shop and the Lexus dealership, and their repair estimates were significantly more expensive than here. My car has been running smoothly since the repairs and my personal scanner show no codes anymore! I'm telling my friends and family to come here to get their cars fixed. Do yourself a favor and look no further than this shop. You won't find a more reliable, honest, and reasonably priced place. It was great to feel that I was being taken care of. The workers here are extremely nice and considerate, I took a car I was considering buying here to get inspected. After the inspection they gave me a full list of everything they checked (which was everything) and listed if it was good or not with an explanation. It was very thorough. After inspection, one of the mechanics even took it for a test drive to see what it was like while driving, he ended up noticing some issues that led to me not buying the car. They also took me into the garage and pointed out anything I had questions about. They even pulled me to the side so I could speak with the workers alone without the seller. The entire process of fixing some major issues with our Nissan Rogue involved a good communication loop via texts and calls with updates on the progress of the repairs. You get to decide what you wanted fixed (includes a price estimate) before they do any work which gives you a feel of autonomy. Customer service was great. Lobby was spacious enough and the wait time for what I was getting done was reasonable.

After getting new tires at Costco, we were given a phone # to call a local person to do the alignment since they don't do this service. YELP to the rescue to see what others thought! All the previous reviews are right on! It took about 2 hours, so we walked around the neighborhood and shopped. All future recommendations for upkeep on our car were printed out with descriptions on the cost and what needed to be done. No pressure, just information for preventative measures on a 20 year old car. I would only suggest that a steering wheel plastic cover be incorporated into the service since the mechanics grease from his hands got on the wheel. It would just be a nice touch, one which Costco employed for the tire installation Luckily, we had hand wipes at the ready! read more

Because of this company's partnership with Costco and AAA, as well as available payment plans, I was able to work with Dimitri to strategize how I'd handle my car's issues. The team made sure I got my car home and that I was squared away for the next round of repairs within the week. I'll be able to get to work safely and without worry of breakdown. Work takes time but this shop is efficient. Times, quotes, and procedures are communicated clearly and effectively here.
