I have been bringing both of my cars to Ron and his team for six years now and they are exactly what I want in an auto mechanic: incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, fair and most importantly, honest. Finding someone you can trust trust with your car is not easy. There are so many businesses where you are left wondering whether you really needed the repair you were sold or whether you were charged fairly. I have never felt that way here. There is a reason this business has been around for so long and is trusted by so many people. Ron knows what he is doing and explains things clearly. I have recommended Ron and his team to multiple people over the years and every single person I have sent their way has come back grateful for the recommendation. I have known Ron and had him service/work on our cars for over 30 years - when he was the chief mechanic at another highly rated shop and then followed him to Speedline when he opened it. We've had Toyota 4runners, Range Rovers, Tahoe, suburbans, lexus, BMW convertible - and we only trust Ron and his mechanics to work on all our cars. The special sauce to Speedline is Ron and his honesty along with skill. This is an industry that can easily take advantage of people, but Ron will NEVER do that. Can't tell you how many times he tells me I don't need tires or work done, etc. In fact, when we were in LA for 2 years, something didn't feel right in the car (Suburban) as we drove the I-5 highway for 6 hours to Sonoma. Instead of pulling into a gas station or mechanic along the way, we pulled over and called Ron. He told us exactly what to do and what not to do- and then exactly what to do once we got to our destination. When our safety was at risk - we called Ron; nobody is more honest, trustworthy. I've also sat in his lobby while waiting for repairs on my car(s) many times. My experience every time I've witnessed a customer complain or even yell at Ron (or his employees) are those that are rude, demanding and likely have unreal expectations - no matter where they go. This morning i locked myself out of my car with all of my belongings inside, i had to run into a nearby coffee shop to borrow a phone, and the baristas recommended Speedline to me! They specially said, "they're great people", and they were so right!!! :D Speedline sent two super kind and professional gentlemen right to my apartment within 5 minutes, and they got me in my car within another 5!!! There are times he could have told me it required more extensive work and I would have paid it, but turns out it was something simple. The most honest, thorough and reasonable garage I've used since I started driving in 1965. I was told by a friend that I needed to replace the shocks. I found Ron on Yelp. Ron asked me if I really wanted to spend money on something that did not replacing? (Turned out my friend needed a shock absorber and the car's shocks were fine). These guys are great. My battery had died and calles these guys to help. They sent a guy out to jump my car, and ordered a new battery so it would come ASAP and get me on my way, as I was late to a work event. Got it there and they installed the new battery and got me on my way. I've been going to them a few years now and they have always been awesome! read more

My battery died just as I was leaving work last night. Thankfully, a coworker gave me a jump, and I made it home. The next morning, I started calling around for a tow and replacement battery, but when I reached out to this shop, Ron said he'd send someone over to jump the car in five minutes (I live just down the street). Sure enough, I had barely walked back out to my car when one of his team members pulled up with a jump starter. We dropped off the car, and just a few hours later, they texted to let me know it was ready. The whole process was easy, fast, and incredibly friendly. Had gotten oil changes here before with no issue. I called because a different auto body shop noticed something wrong with my car (issue with wheel axle) during an oil change and I wanted to get a quote for how much it would cost Speedline to do it because I've never had my car repaired and I don't know much about the process. The man on the phone was incredibly rude and said "That's a lot of money, good luck with that" when I was trying to explain to him what the other body shop told me. He then told me to stop interrupting him and then hung up the phone before I was done talking. Stunned at how rude he was to a potential customer. We have been going to this shop for years! It is so nice to have a mechanic you can trust but these guys really go above and beyond that! They are extremely knowledgeable, assess and fix the issues in a quick but efficient way and are welcoming and friendly! The last time i took my car in it was making a horrific sound! He did an inspection and it seems there was just a piece of gravel that had got stuck near the breaks it popped out on the way over but he made sure to look at the car and make sure rooter was fine. He didn't charge me a dime and when I went to pick it up he gave my kids a matchbox car each! Thank you Speedline!!!! read more

I thought I found a good garage in Chicago, and I was even recommending it to all my friends. We're not car-savvy, so when I called today to ask if they could make a repair, I got a very snappy response that was very rude when I asked 3 questions about what my car needed. Went in in-person to ask to talk to a manager about it and was told it was probably the manager who I talked to. Sorry but if your customer service is plain rude, I will find another garage to use, and I recommend others do as well. The unfortunate part is the main guy behind the counter is very good at customer-facing interactions, I was hoping all employees would be as good. Edit: Take a look at Sharon G.s review, she calls out the owner for the bullying, gaslighting replies. He replied to me too below, acting like nothing happened. Notice all his replies to low ratings are almost all caps, and only promoting the business and not addressing the review? That's how you know the owner is lying through his teeth and doesn't GAF. It looks like any time he's having a bad day he's a complete jag to anyone he wants, so I caution anyone reading this review: even if you've had good experiences before, how long until this guy decides to unload on you because he can't handle his emotions or run a *polite* business? read more

EVERY MECHANIC SHOULD BE LIKE SPEEDLINE!! I have been going to them for a couple years and have always been impressed with the work that they do. This last time, they made a pretty big mistake with my car. Doesn't matter what the mistake was. What DOES matter is that they owned the mistake and took care of it right away. At no point did they argue with me over cost. All they kept telling me was "This is how we do it". My dad used to always tell me that we all make mistakes. Have come to the shop for other work with no issues until recently. Yes The owner is very snappy even when asking questions about an oil change. Spent over $1500 replacing stolen catalytic/o2 to find out a week later the engine was completely blown. He tried to blame my son saying that car has been driven hard. Well my son drives the car like two days a week for 15 minutes, so no he wasn't driving the car "hard". It was an oversight that should've been caught before the catalytic was replaced. PERIOD My son is a young driver and didn't realize when the car is making a noise, You stop driving it and bring it in immediately especially if you just picked it up. Went here for the first time to get new exhaust on my 2003 Honda Odyssey, they also did oil change, cabin air filter change, and checked for emissons test.
