I loved going here when I first found them. Never had an issue, always so nice. Always gave good estimate on price and time to fix my car. I've had other work done here besides brakes. I've had 2 major issues at this location: The first issue was with my front brakes. The pins used in the calipers SHOULD BE GREASED so the brakes can close and open easily. These guys did NOT grease the pins. This caused my brake pads to stay closed and keep closing onto the rotor, eventually using ONLY THE CALIPER to stop my car! Brake pads were completely gone! My new mechanic had to use a blowtorch to heat the old pins so he could remove them. He spent about 10 minutes doing this for EACH PIN. He couldn't believe that Brakes for Less did this. From this mistake, I needed new rotors as well as pads for my front brakes. My mechanic showed me the proper way to grease the pins and my brakes are working 100% better than they had before. This NEW, second problem is with my rear brakes. I had them replace the rotors and brake pads. They removed the stock bolts from the calipers and replaced them with bolts THAT AREN'T EVEN FOR CALIPERS OR EVEN A CAR! The bolts broke/sheared off on one of my calipers and my car needs repair ASAP. "If the proper bolts were used, they'll last forever. They don't just break off like this!" is what my mechanic told me. He said whoever did this had no business trying to work on a car. My mechanic told me he believes they are doing things to my car so I would come back to have them fix it to get more business. He's seen it happen before. I'm not saying that, he is. My mechanic assured me that a "REAL" mechanic would NOT have done these things. This has been my experience here. I LOVE giving good reviews any chance I can. Can't do it here. read more

Brakes 4 Less - Bolts broken or sheared off of caliper! - Auto Repair Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I thought I had found excellent close by in the neighborhood mechanics and service, however, to the contrary I was a victim of fraud and deception. I had a malfunctioning speed sensor that Brakes4Less diagnosed (without doing a diagnosis) as a faulty clutch that needed replacing, a transmission replacement, first quote: $1,000, then raised to $1,300. Based on their evaluation, I found a repair shop that only does transmission replacements for $1,000 and contracted them to do the work. Brakes4Less refused to do a diagnostics, insisting it was a transmission problem and referred me to the VW dealer, that diagnosed sensor replacement. The fact is, I did not have a faulty clutch and required a speed sensor repair, at considerably less cost. B4L lied and created a bogus repair for profit. I had had rear brakes repaired and they created a problem by not replacing a lug nut that would, over time, require another repair service. BRAKE4LESS are crooks that will sabotage a vehicle's performance to cause create future repairs. DO NOT USE THOSE CROOKS. read more

Alvaro is a very dishonest man. I took my car in because it had an oil leak. He said the Valve cover gasket had to be replaced. I let him do the work. The leak continued. I took it to another mechanic and he said the the valve cover gasket was never replaced. Needless to say I had to pay someone else to do the same job again!!! Down below you will see the picture of the oil leak. Prior to this I also had my breaks done. He charged me 430.00 dollars to replace the rotors in the front, replace all 4 pads front and back, and the shoes in the back. The brakes kept squeaking. I took the car back to him 2 times and he kept saying my brakes were fine. When I took it to another mechanic they told me the rotors had never been replaced or the shoes in the back had never been replaced either. All he had done was change all the pads. Again, I had to pay someone else to do the same job. The engine light on my car was something else he had "fixed" and charged me another 480 dollars and the engine light is still on. I have given this man so much of my money and time that I can never get back. I trusted him and took my car there several times thinking and trusting that he was getting the job done right. I was sadly mistaken. If you don't want to get ripped off this is not the place for you. read more

This was a great recommendation from a friend. They solved a long-standing oil leak issue, cleaned my engine and resolved a problem with my power steering going in and out. Alvaro the owner is so cool! He pointed out a potential future problem with my serpentine belt being exposed to excessive motor oil. Now I know what to focus on next. (Or let them do.) I called around town frantically last minute at 3:30PM, and these guys were the best priced compared to the big guys (Jiffy, Pep, C-X, Firestone). Not only were they the best priced, but they were available IMMEDIATELY, super friendly, allowed me to watch (because I wanted to learn - I'm typically a DIYer if I can), switched the rotors and the breakpads on the front axel in 30-40 minutes. The teamwork was inspiring. The friggin icing on the cake was I noticed something small was wrong with the car at the very end, and they fixed it for free.
