So we saw this restaurant on ig and it'd looked nice so we went. First the waitress was clearly under the influence of something because she was spaced out she couldn't remember what we were saying. Anyway we ordered the rasta pasta which was awful . I had the chicken in mine, wide had the shrimp. Tasted like bland tiny piece of blackened chicken with pasta that was so hot and spicy I couldn't even finish it, covered in onions. Drinks were small and overpriced $20+ per drink. Plates were dirty and smelled like grease. The only think I liked was the nice decoration inside the establishment. Let me be clear in stating that I am only reviewing my experience, not the food or alcoholic drinks. I would rate the service 5 stars, because our server was very nice and attentive, and the overall attitude of the waitstaff was cheerful and welcoming. The inside decor of the restaurant was beautiful, and it definitely had a club/lounge feel, if that's what you're looking for. I was a little taken aback by the food prices though, because they seemed a little inflated. For example, I was looking to order this dish called Rasta Pasta, and it was $22 before adding any protein. That raised an eyebrow, but wasn't exactly a deal breaker. However, I was definitely surprised to see that it was an additional $14 to add shrimp to the dish. So I'm supposed to pay more than half of the cost of the meal just to add protein? Disappointing, but I just attributed it to the fact that I was ultimately paying for the ambience and experience as a whole. Ultimately I ended up not ordering food though, because we arrived when the kitchen was close to closing, and I don't usually like to order at restaurants doing those times. My friends ordered some drinks we ordered a hookah for the table. The hookah was good and drinks looked nice but since I wasn't drinking that night I just asked for water. I was served water in the smallest cup I've ever been served water in at a restaurant, comparable to a juice glass. I didn't understand this, because my friends that were drinking alcoholic beverages were drinking out of regular sized cups. Nonetheless, I was there to catch a vibe so I just chilled out and took it all in. That menu and water experience is why I took off a star. The other star I took off is because I was charged $10 for self parking (not valet) upon arrival. I live in the city, and the last thing I expected coming to a restaurant way in Duluth, was to be charged for parking, especially a restaurant that is in a shopping plaza with several other businesses. This restaurant shares a parking lot with Taco Mac (who isn't charging for parking), to give you some perspective. This is a beautiful space with a lot of potential to be great, but I hate feeling like I'm being "nickel and dimed" when I'm trying to patronize a business. Honestly had it not been for the DJ this place would deserve ZERO stars. Let's start with the "Valet". There is ample parking spaces in the strip mall lot this place is located in but management has taken it upon themselves to block them all off with cones forcing you to Valet in DULUTH. Mind you that you can see the front door from where they park your car it's literally 100 feet. My date and I valet. Valet tells us it will be a 10-15 minute wait since we don't have a reservation it's about 11pm at this point. We say fine, pay the valet he takes the car and drives it 100ft. We get to the door and the bouncer tells us it's at 45 minute wait. (Yes, even though we were just told it was 15 minutes by his coworker ). We ask to wait at the bar he says no, we ask to wait in the lobby entrance area (what type of of sit down establishment doesn't have this) he says no and tells us we have to wait in the car. The valet walks up and I ask why he told us it was a 15 minute wait he said "I mean 15-45 it be different wait times". I started to ask this boy if he was a product of APS but it was Ramadan...he don't really understand how Ramadan saved him that day. So we walk back to the car and wait (my date said we shoulda made him drive the car to use since we valeted but I wasn't trying to be petty during Ramadan.) after about 20 minutes he comes and tells us we can come in. Remind you after he parked my car I had my keys the whole time. What kind of valet doesn't keep your keys? Fast forward we're inside. We sit. We wanted a dinner table but they sat us at a hookah/coffee table even though we wanted to eat not smoke hookah. Please make sure you know what you like to drink and don't try your luck on their nasty cocktails that taste like robitussin. They won't allow you to send it back or take it off your bill. We ordered wings as a appetizer. They say 8 American Deli sized wings down in front of us y'all for $18. They were nasty! Also note we got the appetizer AFTER our entree and dessert. The GM brought them to us and when I told her we ordered them she just looked at us with those lashes and said "I mean do y'all y'all still want them or not.". No apologies for them being late or offer to take them off the bill or comp them. Now what if we said no what would have they done? We ordering shots. A shot of crown is $13. THIS IS DULUTH NOT SOUTH BEACH. So sick of these establishments with this velvet furniture yall got at Ross, grass walls, and neon lights thinking that justifies overcharging people. The only reason we didn't hit a Korean spot was because they closed at midnight but we literally could've gotten way more for our money and still spent less than we did here. Now let's get to the food. We both ordered the Rasta Pasta. It's very much a typical black Atlanta restaurant menu . I got it with oxtail he got his with chicken. Now the oxtail was good but y'all when I tell you they had the audacity to charge $22 for just Rasta Pasta with no protein just sauce a bell peppers. The bell pepper chunks were so big y'all. It was definitely giving my 10y/o child cooking me mothers days Rasta pasta in the kitchen. They really down bad. Then it was my dates birthday. I'm thinking you get a birthday dessert comped or something. We spent like $250 in here just us 2. Why they charge us for that. Now maybe I shouldn't have assumed but damn even Ruth Chris gives you a free dessert and this place is for damn sure not Ruth Chris. The service was terrible. I shouldn't have to beg to spend my money with you. It took like 30 minutes for my date to get his first drink and they didn't even know how to make it. Now why the birthday boy waiting on drinks? We tryna order shots back to back and can't even do that. They also had the nerve to try and shame me for wanting regular water. They wanted to charge me $5 for Fiji water I said no the water from the dispenser with lemon is fine. Y'all we had two servers and they both sucked. Then when it was time to leave the valet was gone. Because the atmosphere is not versatile for date night or other events I will give the atmosphere a 3/5. The decor is beautiful and modern-a great place for pictures 5/5. I discovered this place through TikTok and it lived up to the hype. It's a beautiful place that gives a city lounge feel without it being in the actual city. A good place to lounge and take pictures. While the food and drinks are on the pricier side, I definitely say that it is worth it. I forgot to take a pic of the wings but they were $18 but definitely huge and flavorful. We almost went somewhere else after pulling up to a shopping centers parking lot and seeing cones in several of the spaces, but decided to pick one that didn't have a cone that was in front of another closed for the day business. Walked to the front door and a security/valet guy tells us that it's $10 to park in the parking lot. So I got back in the car and moved to the other end of the shopping center across the road and have to walk through the grass to get back to the front door. #1: this is listed as a restaurant not a night club and #2 THIS IS A SHOPPING CENTERS PARKING LOT WITH SEVERAL OTHER BUSINESSES. So this $10 parking thing is the most ridiculousness I've ever seen. If I didn't come from Alabama to support a black business, this nearly turned me around to just go somewhere else to eat. The service was great, music is extremely loud, drinks were sweet but good, food was good but portions were off for the price especially on the lamb but overall prices are about what they should be for food cost right now. I'm a bartender and know the industry well so when we ordered a $45 hookah and a flight of tequila drinks that was $100 why was our bill $200? The bartender who was very rude and looks like she hates her life and everyone around added a $30 gratuity charge didn't say anything and then pulled up the tipping screen when we paid with our cards. Lastly my friend signs then she goes oh this is wet I can't use it when SHE put it in some water her damn self. Decided to try this place out with a few friends on Friday night. We get there and park in free parking. Walk to the door and the bouncer said there's no list and if you don't have a reservation that he would wave for you to come in only if we paid for valet. Why would I pay for valet in a public parking lot. That was the first red flag. We ended up being able to go right on in. The waitress asked where would be like to sit so we chose a table. Once we ordered drinks she comes back and says we can't sit at a table if we're not ordering food. That should have been stated before seating us. Second red flag. So we move to another area with a sofa and a small table. We get our drinks and order a hookah (over priced). We order another round of drinks and this time when she comes back she says y'all are approaching your 2 hour limit. Third red flag. Again this was not stated to us when we entered. At this point we say just bring the check and we're out. There's way too many rules and stipulations for this overpriced and overhyped restaurant. Rules need to be stated upon entering. And the whole parking lot situation is crazy! Do better! It's only good for a good photo op for IG. Don't waste your time! read more
