Let me preface this all by saying for my own selfish reasons, DO NOT COME HERE. Me and the girlfriend went foraging for food; she--cranky and taking it out on me; me--hungry and tired. She woke up and couldn't find her prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich in the fridge from last night--we found out my brother took a bite and said "it tasted a bit like wine and thought it went bad so I threw it out..." *FACEPALM*...why? because that meant for me? DOGHOUSE. the wrath came down on me for her wrathful hunger rage. Enter saving grace. In a panic, I scrambled to Faicco's place for whatever reason thinking it was a sandwich place and was a bit let down that it seemed more like a deli....huge mistake stepping foot into this place...the smells instantly drove my mouth insane--my salivaries were orgasming with the smells of fresh sauces and just sunday dinner all over.... The line seemed to take forever--I mean honestly...what the hell people...go find things to do and get the hell out of the store we wants food! Our order: 1lb domestic Prosciutto, 1 Mozzarella Ball (though i'm curious about the smoked moz) 12 prosciutto balls 6 rice balls 6 potato balls. 1 loaf of bread (sesame seed loaf?) Ambitious? maybe...but we were hungry and if it was any good my family would be all over it...and I needed out of the dog house....but then I had the thought "if this place ends up sucking...then i'm never getting out..." The prosciutto balls we picked at on the drive home--we had one and tried to put it away...but then I reasoned "if we eat one more we have an even 10 and they don't have to know" she replied "I knew there was a reason I loved you"...SCORE. We get home with every intent on making sandwiches... while getting the balsamic out and prepping the cheese i took a bite of the prosciutto and my gf tried the cheese and took one look at each other...an intent on a civil meal turned into a primal slaughter. forget slicing the bread--we tore chunks of bread dipped it in the balsamic, took a piece of prosciutto and cheese and just ate like starved 3rd world children... we now have half a pound left, like 1/3 of the cheese, half a loaf, and half of the balls...sucks for the rest of the family....but now i'm ready to pass out...oh man.... never again............ .... ....we'll be back soon..... read more

I went for my first time and am totally impressed by the selection of meats, sausages and prepared foods. Take it from a guy named Vito: this is the only place to buy Italian sausage and other Italian delights (Braciole, dried hot or sweet sausage, fresh mozzarella, etc). Everything is fabulous, except the Italian Bread, which is a tad hard for me. Hell, that is just me being extremely nit picky. My dad took me here 45 years ago, when they were allowed to have sawdust on the floor. Now, the place is spotless, incredibly clean. My wife can't eat pork, so I buy her the Chicken sausage and I swear, it is just as good. A place that has been around for years and whose reputation is in line with reality. A true Brooklyn institution and landmark. Actually one of the reasons why I would never move away! We buy food from here and bring or ship it to friends and family all over the country. I would say you can't get this food anywhere else, but that is not technically true. I spotted similar items at "Eataly" on 23 Street. They were twice the price for half the portions. This is seriously HEAVEN! So I took the train from Philly into New York to visit the bf. The bf was having dinner with his family so I decided to pick up a prosciutto and mozzarella sub from the train station. I only ate half since it was getting late and wrapped up the other half for the morning. I woke up and it was gone!?!! I was very upset. You know that Friends episode with Ross and the turkey sub.."YOU ATE MYYYY SANDWICH!?!" I know it wasn't the bf's fault but his brother's (who threw out the sandwich thinking it went bad!!) But I could not help feeling miserable the entire morning. You know how they say when one door closes, a window opens? Faccio's is the ultimate window. I recall seeing Faccio's on a blog somewhere and had it bookmarked to visit. I thought it was a bit like a cafe but it wasn't the place where I could go order a sandwich. But the place is very charming nonetheless. A bit of a tight squeeze from all of the customers waiting, it was overwhelming. Take a number, wait your turn. It's the real deal. But no lamb and only veal cutlets. Shucks. The sausage seemed to be the golden calf here. Bought some sausage. Then right in front of my FACE were these rice balls and prosciutto balls. Never had a prosciutto ball. He put one in a state fair fried basket for the road. Now the prosciutto ball is basically fried ricotta and a little prosciutto mixed in. Although Italian, it looked at home in that fried food basket. But it was so good. And I had a moment standing there thinking, "Do I have to walk back into this MF?" The next two nights I worked the sausage into some pastas. The sausage here is the Michael Jordan of sausage. Faicco's Pork store is as good as it's gets! INCREDIBLY tasty sausage---this is the ONLY place we buy it--cheese and parsley wheels, hot fennel, cocktail sausages--YUM. BEST fresh mozzarella EVER....every time I get it for parties, it gets rave reviews. We also love the rice balls, Prociutto balls (to die for) and fried ravioli's. (although I think the prociutto balls are a bit overpriced if you ask me). Great sausage breads, salami's, olives, you name it, they have it and one is more delish than the next. Their stromboli's are also excellent. The store is also pristine and clean....and even though most times it's packed....it moves very quickly. The chicken cutlets are sliced thin, perfectly cut, and ready to be fried or baked. If I'm having a bad day, Faicco's is definitely my 'go to' for comfort food! Faicco's is hands down the best butcher in the Northeast. My grandmother has been shopping here longer than I've been alive (so at least 30 years, let's just leave it at that). Every Christmas Eve, we all look forward to the stuffed pork loin that she gets from Faicco's. Whenever I come back to visit family, I stop in and make sure to stock up, particularly on the sausage rings (amazing grilled!), rice balls, potato croquettes and prosciutto balls. Most things have already been said so I'll keep it simple: They are spotless, which you want a place that handles meat to be. When all the reviewers say this, they are not kidding. Best sausage ever (links or wheel, doesn't matter). You can tell by how it sizzles on the grill, yet doesn't start a grease fire. I get on a "Line" , Im next.. a guy walks in and the guy behind the counter waives him to the rear of the store and takes his order. When he finishes another guy walks in and he does the same. You are not going to find a better Pork Store in Brooklyn. The sausage is the best. Personally I love the plain with fennel and the HOT which are sooooo hot. If you are having a BBQ, people will die for the broccoli-rabe sausage and the sausage ring is always a big hit. The veal cutlets melt in your mouth, don't pass them up. FYI, this place is immaculate. What other pork store do you know of that actually has giant plate glass windows allowing the public to look in a see them making the sausage? Delicious Italian butcher. Smells amazing, incredibly clean, huge selection. The homemade sausages are all top notch. I make it a point to pick up at least 3LB's of various links to take away with me. My favorite of the sausages is the Broccoli Rabe. They also have great chicken breasts which they'll pound out till you can see through them. It makes ordering a pound of chicken last just a bit longer, as I get a bit more filled off the increased surface area of the chicken. Rice balls are great, though I always seem to eat all of them that I order on the walk home. They're extremely creamy (yet still with discernible rice grains), cheesy, and have a prosciutto center that adds a delicious flavor. I understand there's a Manhattan location, and they make sandwiches there. I've never seen anyone get one at this location. I wish they offered them here... Prices here are comparable to a Manhattan butcher, dont expect to be getting a bargain here. read more

I have been shopping here for years!!! It's clean, its organized and the guys working there are amazing. They work quickly and get you in and out as fast as they can (i go on the weekends and its packed!!!). The sausage is incredible as is the fresh mozz, rice balls, proscuitto balls, etc. I even pick up the homemade meals like eggplant parm or chicken francaise for the nights i dont feel like cooking and they are so so good! But i have to say, their lard bread is hands down the best friggin thing i have ever eaten! I do have to add that i noticed they are listed as "pricey" above. I dont think they are pricey by any means. Do i spend a bunch when i go there (between $60 and $70 per visit)? Yup. But its because i buy a TON of stuff :) read more

They make excellent Hero's, their Broccoli rabe rice balls are a must get on every trip. Their pork products are in another league compared to any other places I've been too. DO NOT MISS their Italian Special Sandwich and rice balls!! The sandwich is packed with capicola, soppressata, prosciutto, and mozzarella plus your choice of sauces & vegetables. The prosciutto rice balls are super creamy. Don't forget to ask them to heat the rice balls if you want to eat them right away. I'm ashamed I haven't reviewed my favorite butcher shop of about 15yrs Every cut of meat; beef, pork, & veal is terrific. The house made sausages like the Fennel ones are great, they even have really nice prosciutto balls and rice balls and lard bread made all the time. Once in awhile I may grab a sandwich or a ready to heat Veal/Chicken Parm dinner. ****Pro Tip: they make their own stromboli type bread where you tell them how much you want by sizing your two hands apart like an imaginary ruler, you know what I mean? This is not a stack em deep and sell em cheap operation, freshness & quality is of the highest concern. I've never left here thinking i overpaid for my selections, I usually feel like I bought more than was necessary, because gluttony is my default mode. Every person in the store is extremely friendly & pleasant, and happy to answer any questions or customize a cut to your special requests. There's a number system for when it's busy ( like leading up to holidays) I like it when a place has a system ( like Bagel Boy in Bay Ridge!!) If you go in when they are not super busy, yI guarantee you will be greeted with a 'Hi, how can I help you' The place is impeccably clean, and at different times of the day you can also watch them butchering cuts and making sausage in a butcher room off of the main showroom/counter case. You can get a great view of this from the sidewalk. It's that type of transparency in butchering that ensures you are receiving the freshest of products. They do close out before 6 everyday, and early on Sundays, and one more tip, keep your eyes peeled in the summer for their signs announcing their vacation of a few weeks, they close and give every employee vacation all at one time. Let's start with the basics. This is a family business handed down through the generations. They were raised as children behind the scenes learning to first clean everything, leaving it like it was new. So first off you will see with your eyes how immaculate this store is. They make the sausages mozzarella and other items before your eyes in a glass enclosed kitchen for you to see. As you enter the main store from the outside you will see the sparkle of the clean glass and maintenance to everything including the building to the standards the Faico family was raised with. For me this is the first I look for when making a selection. If it was a resturant I went to for the first time I would first visit the rest rooms BEFORE I would invite my family in. Sorry however 'A greasy spoon environment does not suggest good food to me' Now let's talk about the meat! If you ever had the privilege of visiting up stairs you would see the 'drying rooms' with the sausages hanging from stainless steel racks curing till perfection ready to sell to his customers who have been coming for generations! It doesn't matter what it is they sell, before it goes out to the customers the Fiacco brothers Louie and Matthew have seen it meets thier standards. Both brothers still behind the counters serving you as they have their whole lives under the family s hand.
