I love this restaurant and it honestly hurts me to give them a 3 star review. However, the service and food was subpar at our last visit. Our server started off strong but after our food came out she was missing in action. We had to flag another server down to get out check. We never saw her again after the food came out, so I assume she was off or went on a break. Nonetheless she left us hanging. The Pork Schnitzel with a mushroom & parmesan spaetzle is hands down the worst meal we've ever had at steins. The spaetzle was macaroni noodles with a ton of sauerkraut. The pork was dry and over cooked. Prior to this experience I've always loved everything we've ordered from here. The restaurant is always loud and relatively crowded but the drinks and beer selections are always great.

Great location, but parking can be a bit tricky. I came here on a Saturday around 2pm and the lot behind the restaurant was completely full. Thankfully, there's a public parking garage just a block away, so it wasn't too bad. Our server was super nice and gave some great recommendations. The tuna nachos were really good, they came with pita chips, and the sauce on top made them even better. We also ordered the pretzels, which came with jam and mustard for dipping (such a good combo!). The truffle fries were served with ketchup, and I asked for ranch and received I believe it was a jalapeño ranch and it was delicious. Overall, great vibes and a perfect spot to chill with friends!

Was craving a burger and beer with a college buddy. It was a toss-up between Stein's and a not-to-be-mentioned burger joint. Steins has better beers, to Steins it was. Started out with their fried calamari and it was excellent. Light, not greasy with just the right about of breading. Squeezed some lemon over those bad boys and it was on. I love the calamari there. My burger and fries was just what I wanted on a chilly Saturday afternoon. My buddy also rocked a burger. If I remember correctly we washed the tasty burgers down with Munchner Pils Pilnser. That hit the spot. Service was good, as always. I have to remember about Steins whenever I am on downtown Mt. View. I always seem to forget (d'oh!) And here are some pics.

Beer is usually good here and the appetizers. The nachos had more chip and sauce than other toppings.

Heard so much about this place in downtown Mountain View so I had to check it out myself. Came on early Friday afternoon and wasn't busy at all. Was greeted and sat down immediately. This place looks like a go to spot for everyone in the evening because the music was dope as I Shazam some the songs lol. What we ordered: Ahi Tuna Nachos: Really good just too much sauce for me. Calamari: Really crispy and not greasy at all Lobster Linguine: My daughter ordered this and it was really good. Paired with the bread made it even better. Pork Chops: Pork chops were flavorful and good I just didn't care for the sauce on it too much. It was too rich for me , but overall still good. Carrot cake & Cookie were really good. I'd recommend both desserts. Must try if your in Mountain View

Steins is a place to go with a big group so you can share some of their tasty starters. My go-to is the Ahi Tuna nachos or their truffle French fries. My favorite thing to order is their grilled cheese and tomato soup - yum! When the weather is nice, I enjoy sitting on their patio. They have umbrellas for sunny days and heaters for cold days. The bistro lights are particularly lovely at night. The service is generally good but can get a tiny bit slow sometimes when it's super busy and it's a little pricey but fun to visit once in a while. Their bathroom could be a bit tidier but overall it's a decent place to grab some food and drinks with friends, especially if you enjoy beer!

Decided to try this place for that first time and watch the USA FIFA game. You could tell it was busy with soccer fans and the employees were understaffed but they were all working super hard. The beer selection is excellent and the pretzel as an appetizer was wonderful. But, the main course wasn't anything special. We got the chicken sandwich and the Hawaiian burger. Overall happy with my experience but if I go again I would go for the beer and appetizers only.

Nice place in Mountain View for large gatherings, as they have lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Met up with college friends here a couple of Fridays ago. We had reserved a table for ten outdoors. Drinks were flowing when I got there (most of my friends were local and had arrived before me) and I ordered a wheat beer, which I enjoyed. Of the several appetizers we ordered, the tuna poke with wonton chips stood out. Service was good, bathrooms clean and prices reasonable. I found street parking a block away, but this can be tricky during busy weekend evenings. Happy to return.

Don't know why we haven't tried this place sooner. Love the outdoor patio space and the bar is really spacious. The beer flights were really good and highly recommend the fruit flights. They have a good selection to try here. I was a big fan of the fish tacos. The sauce is a bit spicy but it had a nice crispy crunch to it paired with the soft flour tortilla, perfect. The sweet potato tots were also delish and the jalapeño aioli sauce keeps it spicy. Parking lot does get busy but there is street parking here so no sweat!

Steins Beer Garden is my go-to in Mountain View for a fun, casual night with friends. Their cocktails are always on point (big fan of the Bourbon Old Fashioned and French Kiss), and it's one of the only places I can reliably get a Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen--basically the only beer I'll drink! Food-wise, I've tried a ton: the fresh-baked pretzel with pub cheese and tomato jam is a must (even my pretzel-snob friend approved). The slider sampler is a blast--PB&J bacon sliders are the winner, but the cochinita pork and buffalo chicken ones are super flavorful too. Chicken strips and cajun fries are crispy and addictive, and the nachos taste great even if all the toppings sit mostly on top. The vibe is perfect for groups--warm wood decor, a roomy patio, and that buzzy beer garden energy. Service is usually great, though it slows down when the place is packed. Still, Steins never disappoints for a laid-back, good food + drinks night out.

First time at Stein's Beer Garden in Mountain View and it was a great experience. We came by early afternoon--it was light on patrons, which made for a chill vibe. We chose to sit inside since we were playing some games, and it ended up being the perfect spot to hang out. We'd already eaten lunch, so we just stuck to drinks and a dessert. I ordered the Typhoon (or something like that)--tasty. Refreshing and well-balanced. We also tried the cruller donuts, and they were surprisingly good--light, sweet, and just what we wanted to snack on. Service was perfect--attentive without hovering. The staff made us feel welcome and relaxed. There's tons of outdoor seating too, which we'll definitely check out next time. Overall, a great spot to unwind, sip, and hang out with friends. Will definitely be back!

    Yummy drinks.

Nothing says summer vibes than ice cold beer and an outdoor patio. Come before 6pm to snag HH special which is $ 2 off starters and select drinks. Starters were on pricy side but portions were generous in my opinion I tried the Fruilly which was a fruit beer with strawberry notes. Lightly sweet and refreshing, especially if traditional beers are too bitter for you. The pretzel was warm and scrumptious and accompanied by a trio of dips that were very tasty. Truffle fries and Mac and cheese rounded the food items.. why not since I was sharing and we made it in time for HH. Both were good but nothing extraordinary, I would certainly order again. My favorite was the pretzel maybe because it goes so well with beer.

I bought three tickets for the First Friday event scheduled for 8/4, from 4-8pm with chef Stephanie Izard. When I arrive at 6pm, I was told at the check in table that many of the food items were already out, and that I could request a refund. They told me to go in anyway, and to check out what was available. I waited thirty minutes in one line to get a bite of salmon, which was delicious, except the advertised item was sea bass, which they had run out of. Then they ran out of the salmon too, before I could get a second bite. Next, I waited in line to meet Chef Stephanie, but she stepped away from her station when I got to the front. I also found out it was a shrimp based dish (and the veggies were also cooked with shrimp paste), to which I am allergic to. All of the other food items were out. We left the event still very hungry, and I asked to speak with someone about the refund. They took down my name, number and email and said someone would call me the next week. No one ever did. When I called back to follow up, I again was told they would call me. They again did not. I would expect more professionalism especially when I'm being charged $344 for one bite of food. So this is a warning to all who are contemplating a future First Friday with guest chefs - you better arrive at 4pm, or else there will be no food left. **updating to add to I was contacted and offered a full refund and an apology

The space is sleek, modern, and light-filled, making it a perfect spot to gather with friends for lunch or evening drinks and bites. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Deviled Eggs: A must-order appetizer! Topped with tobiko/caviar, crispy shallots, and chives, they are incredibly creamy with a nice pop of texture and savoriness. Korean Fried Chicken Wings: Crispy, perfectly glazed in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, and topped with sesame seeds. Served with a cool dipping sauce that balances out the heat wonderfully. Tacos (Carnitas & Shrimp): Both taco options were served on warm, fresh corn tortillas topped with pickled red onions, cilantro, and served with a side of slaw and spicy salsa. High quality and super flavorful. Roasted Cauliflower: A gorgeous mixture of purple and white cauliflower tossed with a rich green pesto and drizzle of spicy red pepper sauce. A phenomenal vegetable side with a great kick. French Fries: Golden, crispy, well-seasoned, and served in a massive bowl--perfect for sharing across the entire table. Overall: Excellent presentation, generous portions for small plates, and a super welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're stopping by for creative craft cocktails or grabbing a bite with a group near campus, Horsefeather delivers. Highly recommended!

Definitely a family style dinner, order multiple things to try! Made a reservation couple weeks in advance for a week night dinner for 2. Celebrated our anniversary and couldn't be more happy we came to Ethel's Fancy. Service was great, everyone was friendly and explained the menu and process. Helped making some personal recommendations and the food came out quickly. The only dish that came out very slowly was the dessert, we did wait about 25 - 30 minutes just for the softserve, but all other dishes came out in a moderate time. Rouge de Bordeaux Milk Bread, comes with cultured amazake butter and some salt. Comes out super warm, puffy, and soft. Very nice pull and the butter is super decadent. Very great take on a japanese shokupan, we were hesitant at first, but it makes for a good appetizer 5:5 Warm Sesame Pancakes were like those mini sesame mochi pancakes at chinese dim sum, but the texture was slightly airy. The sauce to accompany it was unlike anything i've had, smoked trout, avocado and yuzu. The avocado was not over powering and the cream on top was whipped. Amazing pairing. 5/5 Sashimi of Kanpachi, japanese cucumber salad as the base and dressing with the kanpachi sashimi. I will say this was the weakest dish of the night. While still good, it was a bit too tart, it overpowered the other natural flavors. Fish was still very good, tender and not fishy, but again, over powered but all the tartness in the dish. 3/5 Yellowfin Tuna on sushi rice - this was a great shareable plate of upscale poke. The tuna was great, no fishy taste, perfectly seasoned and the smoked kira had an amazing pop of flavor. Very rich and decadent dish, absolutely loved the harmony of a slight smokey flavor to the nice rich, umami savoriness. 5/5 Crispy Caledonian Prawns - Absolute star of the night. We could not stop talking about these prawns. Big plump prawns, fried perfectly, where the prawn itself was not dry but the shell had a shatteringly crispy exterior definitely slightly coated with a starch to give it a nice crunch. The chili ramp sunomono was a great touch, not spicy at all but added a great touch of flavor that complimented the crispy prawns. Could devour plates of these! 6/5! Sword-Fish Katsu Style - A great take with sword fish, flakey but not overcooked, great thin crispy katsu. Accompanied by kumquat and cauliflower, helps cut down the greasiness. The sauce with it was a buttery tart sauce. This was a lot better where the tartness helped the fried fish. It was like eating a fried fish burger without the buns. I really enjoyed this one. 5/5 Lastly we ordered a softserve with peaches, shokupan croutons and a caramel dressing. We had to wait about 25 minutes just for the small softserve so we were a bit surprised as other dishes came out relatively quickly or in an orderly fashion. It still tasted great as a little small dessert but definitely was surprised by how long it took. 3/5 Overall, we were very happy with our experience at Ethel's and it definitely lives up to the standard it sets. I can't wait for other new dishes to try and come back in the future.

I have a severe tree nut allergy. Before ordering, I informed our server of my allergy and asked him to identify every dish that contained nuts so I could safely participate in our family-style business dinner. He assured me he would take care of it and specifically pointed out one dish that contained hazelnuts. Later, a golden beet dish was served to the table with no mention that it contained cashews. After taking a few bites, my tongue immediately began tingling. When I asked if the dish contained nuts, our server had to go back to the kitchen to check. He returned and explained that the dish did, in fact, contain cashews and that he didn't know they had recently been added to the recipe. This is exactly the type of mistake allergy protocols are supposed to prevent. Even after it was confirmed that the dish had triggered an allergic reaction, the plate remained on our table until I specifically asked for it to be removed. At the time, I was over six months PREGNANT and traveling alone for work. I had to take Benadryl, leave my business dinner early, miss the remainder of the evening with my colleagues, and spent much of the night vomiting, experiencing gastrointestinal distress, and recovering before a full day of meetings the next morning. I recognize that ingredient changes happen. What is unacceptable is failing to communicate those changes to the staff responsible for protecting guests with serious allergies. The next day, I immediately sent a detailed email to the restaurant's management and owner explaining what happened and asking what changes they planned to make to prevent this from happening to someone else. I never received a response even 2 months later. To make matters worse, I later learned they only removed the charge for the single dish that caused the allergic reaction, despite the significant impact the incident had on my evening, as well as my colleagues, and the obvious seriousness of the situation. I'm incredibly fortunate that my reaction did not progress to anaphylaxis. Another guest may not be so lucky. If you or someone you're dining with has a serious food allergy, I would think very carefully before eating here. A restaurant can make mistakes, but how it responds afterward (or shall I say lack of response) says just as much about its commitment to guest safety; and in my experience, that response was deeply disappointing.

Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.

The food, however, was not especially impressive. I would not rush back for the food alone. The quality and presentation do not match the price tag. Also, "broma" means "joke/prank" in Spanish, so naturally I found myself wondering whether the two Black Iberian pigs on the wall were part of the joke. :) I would come back for the vibe, the bar area, and maybe to give the food another try.

With my mother currently at Stanford Hospital, I've been eating on the go constantly and witnessing this excess firsthand. Then came Brenya. This incredible young server didn't just bring me fantastic summer cuisine--she brought pure heart. When she served me an extra dish of Mexi corn fritters simply because she couldn't bear to see good food go to waste, it moved me deeply. Her empathy, thoughtfulness, and natural alignment with the Zero Waste spirit lifted my soul at a time I truly needed it. Bravo, Brenya, and bravo, Wildseed! You have a customer for life. I'll be back! XX

Everyone ordered different dishes so we could try a lot of things from the menu. 1/5 Athenian Eggplant - Far too sour and the flat bread was SO HARD. Even carb lovers didn't want to finish it. 4/5 Green Falafel - Came warm and the tzatziki sauce was pretty good. 4/5 French fries - Sauces were interesting. 1/5 Mushroom bao - ONE small piece of fried mushroom in each of the two baos that came out. It was stuffed with sour lettuce instead. 2/5 Corn pizza - That coconut mozz was not it for me. 3/5 Chicken sandwich - Solid. Drinks were good! What's up Doc was my fave. Located in the corner of the plaza next to CVS. Good service.
