Well staff as a whole was nice. A lot of bus tours pull in here, sometimes blocking entry to the parking lot. But according to staff..buses take priority over other vehicles. Did encounter people vaping weed in the hotel lobby bathroom. Shortly after checking in someone called my room pretending to be a Marriott employee asking for information about my reservation. A little upset that a desk employee told me when buses were at the hotel there was a lot at bttm of property except that my brother's gf is handicapped with cerebal palsy. Bus traffic seems to be a big part of traffic at the hotel. According to the desk buses have 15 minutes to unload people in the front so just be aware if you pull in and see a bus. You will get stuck waiting for the bus to be unloaded. The owner is very nice and staff is pleasant. Just a few problems really. Extremely clean. Very busy hotel. read more

Quick over night visit last night. We checked in about 7:00 pm and were greeted by 2 super sweet ladies at the front desk. We asked them about local places, such as restaurants and entertainment and the lady with the lighter hair, glasses and beautiful earrings happily accepted the challenge. The room was beautiful. I'm rating this Motel two stars and not one star because the rooms were acceptably clean, which is more than I can say about the common areas, and the beds were relatively comfortable. Outside of that, everything else about the Fairfield by Marriott in Auburn, MA gets a one star ! We arrived early and were told by the Front Desk Clerk that check in time was not until 3:00pm and there were no rooms. The clerk did not take our name not did she offer to get us into the first available room. She didn't even offer to place our two suitcases and multiple carry items into a locked room so we could walk around and explore the town unencumbered by luggage, backpacks, and handbags. Left with no other option we put our luggage & bags in the small lobby seating are, sat on a couch and watched "The View" until we became nauseated. Finally, after an hour of camping in the lobby looking like a bunch of homeless people, the clerk told us she could get us into our room. This is how our stay began. Amenities: - No pool - No spa - Small ill-equipped gym - Laundry room with a broken washer - "Free" breakfast... If you like to wake up BEFORE 9:00am while on vacation (10:00am on weekends) - Limited parking near front entrance - No view to speak of - No major enemies nearby unless you classify Dunkin Donuts or Applebee's an amenity. ** I don't consider the free breakfast an "amenity" when you limit the hours of availability to such a narrow time frame and require people to wake up very early to avail themselves. Guest Services/Relations: - One star - When I asked the Front Desk Clerk if they had a wine glass or any glass so I could have an evening glass of wine and she said no. She referred me to a store across the street. Seriously, there are not any drinking glasses in the entire building?? - When asked when the broken washer would be fixed the clerk had no clue... But she once again referred me to the laundromat next door. - No central A/C. All A/C units are loud window mounted units. Overall Assessment: - Two stars - Save yourself the time and aggravation and choose another hotel/motel that is nearby where you will get better service, more amenities, and a greater overall experience. read more

We stayed there on April 5, 2023 and they put us in a room that had a broken bed that they knew was broken. when my husband takes to the desk clerk about it she acted like he disturbed her and was short with him. They had no other room to put us in. it was an inconvenience and they did nothing to compensate us for it. Stayed here for a week in September. The staff was fantastic and super friendly. Very attentive to what we needed. We originally booked a King size bed but we ended up having 2 extra people with us so they were able to change it to 2 queens for us. The breakfast was good. Nothing super fancy but we got what we needed. The room was very clean. We got clean towels whenever we asked. And with 2 extra teenagers, it was a necessity! I am traveling back up there in Jan for a few days and will be choosing this hotel again. read more

Our room stunk so very bad! The maid service was awful! The pool and spa was disgusting. They never had coffee there and they had bugs flying in on the fruit. The refrigerator in the marketplace didn't work so I can get anything cold. The drinking fountains were out of order. They didn't have cups in your room. The maid would only leave us two towels no Kleenex and no cups left in the bathroom to rinse your mouth. Complaints were left on deaf ears. I had written a complaint and I spoke to the manager on the phone and sent him an email he's not even apologetic he said he felt like I was not telling the truth. This location is one of the best Fairfield Inn & Suites I've stayed at. The girl working the front desk, I believe her name was Jennifer, was wonderful. She was engaging and had a smile throughout each transaction with her. When I needed water, she was happy to provide it, and when my tooth brush broke she happily hooked me up with a new one. The hotel is easy to get to, right off of highway 90. There is plenty of parking. Additionally the surround area has plenty of stores, including a CVS. The room was clean and updated. In the morning guests are welcome to a complementary breakfast buffet. The food was plentiful and fresh. When the coffee ran out, the attendant was quick and happy to refill it. read more

My husband had to go to a Trade training course being held at this hotel/motel in Auburn, so I decided to join him on his 2nd night there. The Fairfield Inn is part of the Marriott Corporation and you can see alot of the same characteristic from of the Marriott brands. I thought this was going to be more like a Motel 6, but I was totally wrong. Nice rooms, a little small, a really comfortable king size bed, a swimming pool and free breakfast before 9AM, not just bagels & danishes, which they did have but a make your own waffle station, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, fruit, pretty good for a economy hotel. right off the highway (Mass Pike, I-90). I was ok with the hotel as the fairfield inn is the lower end of the marriot chain of hotels and a bit more economical but for the Auburn area, this was the best I could get I thought ... the folks behind the desk were super courteous but the room smelled like mildew pretty bad ... like the sheets were washed and then left in the washer or dryer mildew. The hotel was super noisy and could not sleep very well because of it .. then the only thing saving this hotel was a pretty decent breakfast in the morning. I dont think I will stay here agian unless I have to. read more

Adequate Lodging To start it's a Fairfield, Marriott's econolodge. This particular location does a decent job of being updated and keeping clean. After a year of ups and downs, and a pretty long and stressful day, I decided I wanted to end 2015 with a nice long bath and to sit in a quiet room to watch the ball drop. I was surprised there was vacancy but jumped at the chance when I discovered they had some, along with a decent size tub for a nice bubble bath. The rates were very reasonable considering it was New Years Eve. The room only ran $200. My most pleasant surprise was that while pre-cleaning the tub there wasn't an obscene amount of filth in the jets. Which means there housekeepers do their jobs when it comes to cleaning the rooms thoroughly. Everything was comfortable with the exception of the bed. It was too soft and worn. That is the only thing I would have changed about the room. Despite being able to have a fun shower and relaxing bath, my rest was not a highlight. Fortunately I was off the next day and able to go home and have a decent sleep. I think I may stay there again but I haven't really made up my mind considering the comfort, or should I say discomfort, of the beds. There is also a continental breakfast downstairs with waffles and other things. Another highlight is checkout is at noon so there was no rushing the next morning while packing up heading home. Grateful I was able to have a relaxing New Year's celebration along with a quiet/long bath. Happy New Year, everyone read more

I stayed at this hotel this past week and I can tell you that it has maintenance issues I'm really frankly surprised that Marriott hasn't checked on this franchise it's not up to the quality a Marriott standards. For example, there is molding missing in the room the shower would fill up the tub as you're taking a shower. The air conditioner was off and on working I think they have some maintenance issues or a maintenance problem in the hotel. I unexpectedly checked out and then wanted to check back in and had a room rate of about $118 a night. When I spoke to the girl after checking out she put me on hold for an extremely long time and then came back on the line and said the best rate I can give you is 149. I asked her why would it go up from the 118 and why is it showing the internet for 114 to which she capitulated and said fine I'll do 114. Why would you try to jack up a rate on a frequent guest who already had a 118 rate? I'm just not sure that they have the Marriott Hospitality message I think it's a franchise just like a Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn type environment. The breakfast area has limited choices of fruit some of it was clear meaning old it was not good and they have powdered eggs scrambled eggs everyday which is not common in Marriotts in fact if you get the eggs from Marriott they're much better tasting than these powder eggs so I'm just saying that I'd look like somebody has a gift wrapping of a Marriott name but in reality it runs like a Comfort Inn and it's challenged both in service and maintenance and in fact even service when you try to jack around frequent traveler customer rates. I read the other reviews and I couldn't figure out why they were two stars at first and then I stayed there but I realize now it just needs a lot of work so I would tell you that if you want the service level of a Comfort Inn or a challenge Hampton and wrapped in a Marriott name then this is the hotel for you. Upon checking I asked if I could have the same room and she said it was taken I said I need a quiet room so that I can sleep to which she gave me the room right next to the elevator and right above the check-in desk so that I was awoken at 2, 4:18 and 5:30 a.m. my question is why would you put somebody in a noisy room when they specifically asked to ask for a quiet room? They were not sold out! Why would you treat a frequent traveler in this manner is beyond me because I won't be back. I also run a team of consultants who will be out there for the next 6 weeks and I had to move them over to another hotel as result of this poor service and maintenance challenged hotel. I am hoping that Marriott will go out and do a full inspection of this property as I feel it's far below Marriott standards. How do I know? I used to be a Marriott GM and opened many hotels in my career and I can tell you this is far below the Marriott standard based on my experience. read more

We requested a king bed with a fridge and microwave, which is exactly what we paid for. We got a room with a queen bed, with a torn and dirty mattress, no microwave or fridge ( they did not have any is what we were told).Bathtub did not hold water. The whole place is very worn down and seedy. Its not a great location either, seemed like it would have been close the DCU center, but the traffic is bad. If you are booking for DCU Stay in the slightly more expensive places close by. It will cost you $25.oo to park anyhow, so you can factor that in.. its the equivalent of a Days inn, so for 90.00 a night, the value isn't there. I think these folks have a problem with prepaid reservations , so I would avoid booking through a third party- expedia, etc. read more

One one hand, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the lounge spacious, there's a small gym, and despite its toxic smell, a large pool. On the other hand, the staff were a bit odd. Breakfast was sparse. Oh, and there was that minor incident where I turned on the hair dryer, sparks flew, then it burst into flames. That was a real bummer. read more

I was here on a rewards stay and wish I could get my points back. Comfortable room except that the toilet ran all the time. Reported it to the desk, but no one came to fix it. Irritating. Then I went to the 'business center' and there was NO MOUSE - rendering the computer unusable. The young man at the desk said they were aware and would have to order one. Really drive down the road to Staples and get one for $9. Then, at breakfast, the coffee kept running out. The attendant didn't check it until guests would look for her and ask for coffee. Only then did she start brewing a new pot. This could be a lovely hotel. But the staff doesn't seem to care about customer needs. This is either a newly constructed or newly renovated Fairfield. Public areas are modern and clean. Rooms are nicely appointed. The only thing I saw that didn't look like new was some peeling wall paper in the bathroom. Very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was well stocked and the attendant was working hard to keep it stocked and keep the area clean. Jackie at the front desk was extremely helpful in allowing us to check in early and to find places to eat nearby. Very friendly staff member! Be aware that WiFi does not work in room 134 and is extremely flaky and unreliable in public areas of the hotel (including the lobby) despite showing a strong signal. read more

Exactly what we were looking for as a quick stop over on our way home from NH to NJ trip, right off the Mass Pike but outside of Worcester! This was a reasonably priced room for a one night stay. We arrived around 6:00pm, took a quick shower and went out to dinner (Cedar Street Grille - Excellent). The front desk help were SUPER FRIENDLY and welcoming after a long day of traffic and driving. The room was clean and the bed was super comfortable and it has a mini fridge!!! They do serve breakfast and it smelled good, however we just wanted to get on the road. For all of you looking for a spot close to Tree House Brewery, it's about 15/20 minutes south of this hotel. We would return to this hotel! read more

Very clean with an extremely friendly staff. We had a short overnight stay with them but the staff made an impression! Our room was really clean and the whole hotel seems pretty new. The breakfast bar was clean and fresh along with a very friendly attendant. The bed was amazingly comfy, I think sometimes the bed comfort and Fairfield is hit or miss and this one was dead on great...felt more like a Marriott bed and less like a Fairfield inn. read more

In fact, one left money on the bed which was gone, bed left undone but at least new towels. After explaining the situation the manager, he responded with 'So what do you want from me?' Housekeeping is way below average. I have complained to front desk and they were very nice, but admitted they have problems. When I checked in I discovered my bed had not had the linens changed. Again, when I complained, they were very apologetic, but come on, not changing sheets when someone checks out? In addition, the bathroom floor is filthy. The morning breakfast is OK, but nothing special. The pool and hotub is one bright spot. read more

This hotel is nice looking but it has some issues. The elevator buttons dont always turn on when pressed. The hallway was freezing. They need to heat it up when outside temperatures are in the 30s. After a customer checks out, maintenance needs to check the plumbing. My room had a sink that didn't drain well at all. At about 3am, I can smell a detergent soap smell. Looks like it was coming from the vents. Except for the front desk, the rest of the staff seems unfriendly, not smiling or saying hello. read more

The standard is low here, our first room smells like marijuana and the sheets weren't changed. We requested to be moved, we were given keys to the adjoining room. Which also had an odor, we pulled back the sheets and found crumbs, glitter and a massive amount of hair. We asked to speak to a manager and was advised one wasn't available. We were told we were checked out and all set to go. When I asked if checked out meant we were going to be charged I was told yes. I explained they weren't providing us with a service we were willing to pay for and needed to refund our money. About 30 min of back and forth we were told the bill would be adjusted. I wish zero stars was an option. We booked this hotel because we were visiting family Thanksgiving weekend. We arrived late Friday and upon check in, I noticed the room had an odor. It was also right next to the elevator so it was very noisy through out the night. One of the night stand lamps was missing a light bulb. I figured I would just go to sleep after driving 6 hours, I was exhausted! The next morning, I was looking forward to soaking in the hot tub. We got our bathing suits on and arrived to the pool room. The hot tub was freezing! I think the pool was warmer! I informed the front desk that it was broken and their response was, that they were aware and there was no one on site to fix it. Unexceptionable. The whole reason I went with this hotel was the location and the pool and hot tub. I have no interest in a Siberian ice bath. Get upstairs to our room dying for a hot shower and the temp was luke warm at best. I went to the front desk again and shared my experience thus far and they offered to move our room. New room smelled a lot better and had a much warmer shower temperature. Sunday morning, bright and early, I was awoken abruptly by fire alarms. No explanation why other then there is no emergency. Also I was told that the hot tub will not be fixed. They have to order a part. I was pissed. They offered me a $200 gift card to Marriott hotels. Why would I ever want to stay at the Marriott again? I rarely give/attempt very hard to NOT give ANY establishment a 1 star. This hotel doesn't even deserve the 1 star. If Yelp had an option to give it no star, I would've gone for that. My mom and I were driving through to Boston and needed to stop at Auburn for the night. We saw this hotel and decided to stay the night there because we've always been a loyal guest of Marriott and as a rewards member, Marriott has always been extremely friendly and gracious towards us. However, FROM THE MOMENT we stepped in here, the two front clerks gave us nothing but attitude and looked down towards us even though we were paying the same rates as other hotel guests. It started off with a misquote for the night. She said, one night would be "134.99" but right as we're paying, she's says, "oh sorry, it's $139.99, I hope that's ok." When we asked if we could have a room that over looked the parking lot since ALL of my personal belongings were in the car, they immediately said they misplaced the layout of the rooms. Without a moment's hesitance, the two front clerks rushed us out saying they HAD to help the people behind us (only there was no one behind us). When we realized the room they had placed us in was not what we asked, we tried to call front desk with no one answering. We were forced to go downstairs to try and speak with a manager. The ladies said no manager was available and when I asked if they had any surveillance on the parking lot, Karen (one of the front desk clerks) said in a snotty bitchy attitude, "you're liable for your own things." At this point, we, as guests, customers, and loyal Marriott stayers, did not need this sort of hostility. I mentioned that I was going to speak with corporate Marriott about this situation, and she started shouting at me about taking this matter to corporate. Needless to say, my mom and I left and stayed at a Hilton where service was unbelievably OVER the top. The manager personally saw to it that I received my student discount and got us a room overlooking our car and assuring us the peace of mind that we were looking for but did NOT get at the Marriott. IF for some/any reason, you are ever ever in Auburn, DO NOT come to this Marriott!!!! There is a much better Hilton just next door that actually TREATS their guests like humans. read more

After staying here about six months ago and, having thoroughly enjoyed it, we decided to stay once again and were not dissapointed. The staff is excellent, being always very courteous and helpful. The front desk guy spoke loudly and clearly so my grandmother could understand him; when we were sitting in the lobby someone else offered to make us fresh hot coffee; and the next morning when I was about 20 minutes past when the breakfast ends, I asked an employee who was still putting things away if the eggs and sausage were all done and he said yes but immediately offered to heat some up for me anyway, and later asked how it was as I was eating. I was surprised but very happy to find this level of service from regular staff who aren't working for tips. We arrived late the night before and were cold, but sitting on a comfy couch in front of a gas fireplace in the cozy, recently updated lobby sure did the trick!
