BED BUGS! BED BUGS! BED BUGS! Do I have your attention yet? If I could give 0 stars I would. My stay at the Fairfield Hotel was nothing short of a horror story from start to finish. Upon checking into my room, I discovered bedbugs. Shocked and disgusted, I immediately informed the desk attendant, who displayed a shocking lack of concern. Her solution was to offer me another room, as if moving me to a different room within the same potentially infested property was a satisfactory resolution. When I expressed my unwillingness to stay on the property due to health concerns, the attendant callously suggested canceling my reservation. Requesting to speak with the manager only added to my frustration, as I was informed that the manager was unavailable and I was unable to receive contact information for them. I would have to return at 7am to have any hope of speaking with them. Unwilling to risk my health and safety, I decided to gather my belongings and check out immediately, asking that the manager contact me the next day. Only after intervention by a Marriott VP did the manager bother to call, at which point they claimed that Ecolab (Ecolab offers water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions according to their website) had inspected the room and found no evidence of bedbugs, despite clear photographic and video evidence I had provided. To add insult to injury, when I questioned what type of insect could have been in the room if not bedbugs, I was met with dismissive responses claiming there were simply no bugs present. As a precaution, I had to spend several hours of my vacation time doing laundry to ensure that I didn't inadvertently carry any bugs home with me. In summary, my experience at Fairfield Hotel was beyond disappointing--it was appalling. The staff's indifference to a serious health hazard, their lack of transparency regarding the issue, and their refusal to take responsibility or offer a satisfactory resolution are completely unacceptable. I strongly advise against staying at this establishment and will be pursuing further action by contacting the health department and keeping my case open with Marriott executives. This experience has not only ruined my vacation but has also left me questioning the hygiene standards and customer care practices of Marriott-affiliated hotels.

I stayed here one night for business in the Moon Twp area. The views of the Ohio River from KY room were probably the best thing about the stay. I got there early to check in, as I usually do at many Marriott properties and it's never been a problem, unless they're fully booked, but the guy checking me in immediately told me "check in is at 3PM!" I explained that I knew this, but it's never been a problem, if there are rooms available. About this time a lady, very pleasant and friendly came up and told him to check me in. She looked at my account and then proceeded to do all the things he didn't do (acknowledge my loyalty, etc). Incidentally I had occasion to ask her for toothpaste the next day and she was extremely as professional, polite, and helpful! The room was moderately clean, yet in need of updating and refreshing. There were black, long hairs all over the ceiling in the bathroom and on one of the bedside tables. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls, there were patched cracks in the ceiling. It just needed to be refurbished! The outside of the building really needs to be repaired and repainted, it looks deserted. The bed was decent and comfy and I got a nice sleep. The TV and remote worked well, so did the WiFi. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay, but I'll stay closer to my meeting location on the next trip.

A solid place to stay on the river at Neville Island with plenty of rooms overlooking it & the bridge. Sometimes you'll hear traffic, but it's a low susurration & rather soothiing. Updated decor & clean. There is a firepit outside beside the river & is a wonderful place to unwind. They also have a small pool & fitness center, but I've never used those. They have a "convenience store" to purchase snacks & sundries. There is also a small business center where you can print directions etc... Breakfast is included and is a full breakfast (eggs, bacon, pastries, waffle-maker etc...) There is coffee & usually a fridge & microwave in the room. This location is not a far drive from anywhere in Pittsburgh & it's easy to get dahntahn or to Kennywood...!! It's also close to Old Economy Village, which if you're looking for some interesting history of an early "planned community" that's low key, this is the ticket. Note that there is only one restaurant (King's) which is not open late & not much else around so if you're hungry eat in the city if you're a late arrival. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

The front desk lady was wonderful. However, the hotel was dirty. The elevator was dirty. Then the hallway had not been vacuumed in while. I always check the bedding and look for signs of bedbugs in every hotel and I found filthy mattress cover, dirty wall with something dripping down it. So I did get another room and it was better but there was something on the wall by the headboard as well.

View from our room window! Don't worry about hearing car noise from the highway bridge - I listened closely and never heard any noise.

We originally had another wedding venue booked, but when we visited the Mayernik we knew we had to make the switch. We chose a Friday afternoon because we able to save a little bit of money, but also book other locations on the property to make it a full day experience for our guests. The Mayernik has some suggested vendors, but the only requirement is from choosing from one of their 3 food vendors. We tried each over time and settled on Remo's...who created an amazing meal for us. It was high quality and reasonably priced. Our wedding ceremony was at 1230, followed by a brunch reception. For the ceremony we opted for the extra cost of chairs to be set out and I'm glad we did. It was a beautiful day and I would have been uncomfortable forcing everyone to stand during our ceremony. After the reception, we invited a few guests to an after party at The Cabin, one of the smaller locations on the property. Leading up to and throughout the day, Jennifer was attentive and made sure all our details came through without us worrying. She even helped organize and pack things up at the end of the night. I was never worried during the experience and knew she had it handled. If I had to do it again, I'd pick the Mayernik as our choice venue. What a great day to remember!

I originally worked with the event coordinator Shannon, who was wonderful: very accommodating, available and informative. She notified me that she was leaving her job as event coordinator approximately 2 weeks before my wedding! I was a panicked bride after hearing this...what a nightmare! Shannon made our transition to Suzi, another event coordinator at the Center, extremely smooth. Although Shannon was pleasant to work with, I am so happy to have had Suzi coordinate my event. She is extremely personable, accommodating and flexible. I really felt like she was there for me on my wedding day. She took care of everything, from the last minute decision to move the ceremony inside to fluffing my train before I walked down the isle. She helped us clean up at the end of the night and my family and friends all loved working with her. The Mayernik Center is difficult to reserve, so I would plan to book at least a year ahead, preferably more if you want a Saturday date. I had a Friday wedding and would recommend it if all the Saturdays are taken. We did not have a DJ, but used the Mayernik Center's sound system to play music. It worked perfectly. The only reason I am not giving the Center 5 stars is that they do not have chairs available for outside ceremony's, which makes outside ceremony's very difficult. If you are looking around for an event location in the North Hills check out the Mayernik!

Live music was really relaxing and for once I can genuinely say it was at a good volume (I think I'm aging). The restaurant has recently been remodeled. Over 10mins goes by and we have to track down the server to get them. More than 30mins goes by when the server comes out and essentially has to ask for our orders again, keep in mind the restaurant is essentially empty, she says something was wrong with the system but the food would be out in 3mins. Nope. We sat around a bit longer and watched the staff takedown tables as if they were about to close. Finally the food arrived.....and to say that we've had a better meal at eat n park isn't even a joke, my mom's salmon was completely dry and overcooked $37, I got the pasta bar $28, when I went over the station was an absolute mess, obviously hadn't been cleaned from the day, I'll say again it was empty, when he was making my pasta, he literally bent down to the floor to grab the noodles -really! So we walked around the building to the patio area and walked into the dining room using the dining room door entrance, but there was no host area. So we walked back outside for a third time and went to the bar area, where they seemed confused why we were asking to be seated at the dining room because we were in the bar area. All of this wasn't a big deal and could be easily resolved with a few signs directing customers on the seating process. Lastly, the place is called Sophia's but inside the menu says Sophie's. I don't know if this place is Sophie's or Sophia's or maybe a combination of both? The ambiance at the bar had a fun vibe, but the dining room area seemed like they didn't put much effort into making it feel cozy and welcoming. I would love to see the place add some booths or more decor so that it felt less like they just put some tables in an open room. It has so much potential!! Now once we got seated, we were told they had no drink menu, just 3 drink specials. Ok so we ordered the specials. Drinks were very good and came in fun colors and glasses! Our waitress was nice but was not very attentive. She was helpful when we asked about the menu and was very knowledgeable, but we had to flag her down for things like water, our check, when we were ready to order, etc. Now let's get to the food. We got the potato croquettes app which was devoured quickly. They were little mashed potato bombs and came with a mystery creamy dipping sauce. They came out hot and had great flavor and so did the mystery sauce! I wish more came with the order, but that may have been me just being hungry and wishing I had more because they were so delicious! The waitress recommended the chicken Romano and the bourbon jam burger. My chicken Romano was fine - a decent meal. The chicken was VERY thin and the accompanying pasta had no flavor, it just tasted like I was eating plain noodles with parm sprinkled on top. I know chicken Romano is supposed to be thin, but this was so thin that I got more egg/parm batter than chicken, which made my meal taste more like scrambled eggs than chicken. I do have high expectations for chicken Romano specifically, so I wouldn't say don't order it, I will just say it's not going to be the best you ever had. My friend had the burger and said it was very very good! They had a fish sandwich special and I had major FOMO when i saw the waitress serve that sandwich to another table - it looked fantastic! It was huge and thick on a puffy brioche bun. I think I would go back here again just to try that fish sandwich. This place, very randomly, also has sushi. I don't eat sushi, so I can't comment too much on it, but they did have an extensive sushi menu and I did see a few of them plated and they looked so good it also made me wish I did like sushi! Lastly, they only had 2 dessert options, chocolate cake and cheesecake. We got the chocolate cake and a huge piece came out that was so rich it almost tasted like fudge, it was great! Because of how rich it was, we could only have a few bites and took the rest home - I guarantee not a crumb of that cake will go to waste! Overall a pleasant experience here. I would get the potato croquettes and chocolate cake again and try the fish sandwich or maybe the crab cakes for my entree.

Alaskan Roll - 4 stars - This roll had eight pieces and contained salmon, cucumber, and avocado. Crab Cakes - The crab cakes themselves were meaty and tasted pretty good (4.5 stars), but the sides of peas (3 stars) and potatoes (4 stars) were very plain. Chicken Romano - My husband ate part of this entree. He called it "gross." I taste-tested it, and I thought that the chicken romano (3 stars), peas (3 stars), and noodles (3 stars) were not quite what I expected from a restaurant. I used a coupon from their website to get the appetizer for free, and my husband also ordered a soda. The total price was $62 plus a tip.

Long story short, HIP notified my BFF via email only one week before her wedding that, to comply with the fire marshal's mandate, their venue would no longer be able to accommodate her wedding. Fortunately, the bride and bridal party were able to miraculously find another amazingly accommodating venue that same day, but HIP's handling of the issue was nothing less than classless. What was already a stressful situation was exacerbated by HIP's incompetent and unsympathetic actions, including (but not limited to): - delayed communication of the venue's inability to host the wedding - being unresponsive to requests to finalize details of the venue transition (yet still having time to post videos to social media about the situation) - trying to charge ridiculous prices for minimal venue involvement ($2,500 just to use the venue as a hotel and to take pictures there), - and claiming the rented tables were damaged when they were returned (even though they were already damaged when provided in the first place) just to be able to keep the $500 deposit We're so thrilled that the wedding turned out well despite the frustration of having to deal with HIP, but their behavior and attitude were completely unprofessional and, quite frankly, rude. If you're looking to have your big day at their venue, I'd recommend thinking twice. Give your business to people that truly have your best interests -- and not just your money -- in mind.
