I came here for one night while I was visiting the Longwood Gardens. It's just two miles away and very convenient. I got here for a early check in, but the front desk would not even see if it could be done. I came back at 3pm and was delayed because their system when down. The woman at the front desk was not friendly or recognize my status with Merriott. No even a thank you for booking with them. This will be the last time I stay here. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel others should be aware. I booked a non-refundable rate and fully understood the terms. However, when my travel plans changed, I contacted the hotel in advance. The front desk staff reviewed my reservation and explicitly approved the change to my stay. Based on that conversation, I had every reason to believe everything had been handled correctly. When I checked out, I discovered I had been charged for an additional night anyway. Rather than explain what happened or investigate the discrepancy, the front desk attendant repeatedly avoided answering my questions and seemed more interested in talking around the issue than resolving it. After several attempts, I asked to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, the interaction only became worse. The manager was dismissive, rude, and visibly irritated that I questioned the charge. She rolled her eyes during the conversation and bluntly told me I would be charged regardless of the reservation change that had previously been approved. There was no attempt to understand the situation, acknowledge the conflicting information provided by her staff, or offer any reasonable customer service. As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I don't expect special treatment--I simply expect honesty, professionalism, and for the hotel to honor commitments made by its staff. If there was a mistake, own it. If the change shouldn't have been approved, explain that respectfully. Instead, I was met with indifference and an attitude that left me feeling like my loyalty and business meant nothing. Mistakes happen. Poor customer service is a choice. Unfortunately, this stay will be remembered not for the property itself, but for how poorly a straightforward issue was handled. read more

General Manager (Cheri Orr) was extremely rude with no concept of customer service whatsoever. Assigned us to an extremely noisy room on the first floor near a major highway and refused to accommodate after repeated requests claiming the hotel was fully booked. Lied straight to our face. We could go and book several types of different rooms right then and there on their website. Didn't acknowledge corporate booking or show any semblance of understanding or desire to accommodate or offer another solution for the noise or compensate us for the sub-par but otherwise expensive service. Looking at the other reviews here, seems like this is the attitude of the management - anti-customer. Would avoid at all costs. Too bad it's close to the Gardens but there are other hotels that will not treat you like that. read more

Our suite was fine. But we only stayed for a night, and breakfast was a circus. The space isn't large enough, and my husband and I had to eat our oatmeal in the lobby. (self-serve, no empty seats) Also there was no hot water coming from the faucet in our sink on a very cold morning. Finally, the elevator got stuck right after we got on and the door closed. I pushed the emergency button and heard voices coming from an outside dispatcher, but no one ever came to see what the trouble was. Thankfully, the door opened after about ten minutes. read more

Front desk, housekeeping, the ladies that prepare breakfast, everyone working here is wonderful The regular rate is a bit expensive. I stayed for about a week. Their gym is decent, about half the size of a regular room. They have an indoor pool, cucumber water, water fountain, and always available coffee/tea/hot chocolate station. Business center in the front, ample parking. Their laundry room has one washer and one dryer and is coin operated. $0.25. Their breakfast is just amazing. I love it. They have 2 kinds of Chobani yogurts, 3 different yoplaits, skim or fat free milk, 3 kinds of cereal. Apple juice, OJ, cranberry cocktail or water. Protein: either turkey sausage or pork sausage. Or one of the former and bacon. Cheese egg omelet or scrambled eggs, hot sauce, salsa, cheese. Breads: breakfast breads like pound cake cliches, English muffin, toast, bagels, cream cheese, peanut butter, jelly, honey. Waffle maker/syrup. Oatmeal and fixings. 2 kinds of fruit,hard boiled eggs, apples, oranges, bananas. Their housekeeping staff is working nonstop. I see them working all of the time! They do a good job of maintaining rooms. They always make it a point to stop by rooms to clean and will leave a note under your door, if you have your privacy door thing on. read more

Was here for a wedding. Was there 2 nights. The front desk either did not understand English or they were just purposely ignoring requests. The couple had welcome bags, they gave out the wrong ones and then refused to give out the correct ones to the appropriate guest. The bride had to go down to get the bags she made to give to her guests. Side note, The woman at the front desk was talking negatively about the bride to another employee in front of her guests! The front desk check another couple into a room they knew the air conditioner was broken. We asked to be near our other wedding guests, we were put as far from them as possible. Asked for toilet paper and the woman at the front said we can't do that, we would have to wait for the house keeping manager to arrive because the other house keepers didn't speak English. The breakfast was typical for continental. The coffee was blah. There is a Dunkin down the street. This hotel was in a convenient location for the venue. If looking for room blocks for your wedding, save yourself and your guests the headache and hassle. read more

I'm happy to say I had a great experience here the customer service was excellent and the hotel offers a lot for the price . I booked it on a Sunday 11/20/23 and only paid $147 after the deposit but you get free coffee,breakfast, and much more . They also offer a gym experience with a pool & hot tub for no extra cost and only 8 minutes from Longwood gardens . I will definitely come back I would highly recommend this hotel read more

This is our 2nd time coming here as part of a trip to Longwood Gardens. The package is a great value as it is conveniently located to LG and downtown Kennett Square, includes tickets which can be used during the busy Holiday season and does not require prespecifying a time like would be needed if securing from LG directly (the hotel also gives a fun reusable shopping bag filled with goodies), and a generous continental breakfast. The hotel is always clean and in good condition, including common areas and sleeping rooms, staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and we were able to get into our rooms early to freshen up before going to the park. I travel a lot for work and have stayed at a lot of hotels and the staff does a great job here. Especially the gal working on Sat. 12/28 who kept the breakfast buffet well stocked during a busy time as well as being patient with a female guest following after her to ask for takeout boxes- really? SMH. Thanks for helping contribute to our family's great memories and keep up the great work. We will be back! read more

So we stayed here two nights while visiting Longwood Gardens for our 41st wedding anniversary. We had a king suite which we liked. Future visitors should know... Our breakfast was included, BUT, it is all self-service and didn't include any hot food except for a waffle maker. I had a muffin and a banana. Also, make sure your room is NOT on the back side of the building. Our bedroom window looked directly down onto RT. 1 and the road noise (all day and all night) was really bad. Next visit, we may opt to stay just down the road at the Hampton Inn. We stayed there four years ago and will probably book there this late Fall when we revisit Longwood for their Christmas display! read more

OK so it must be hard to find a replacement for a sick call when you are in the middle of no where. The day of our check out the lady that ran the breakfast for us the previous three days was not only in charge of breakfast but the entire front desk area and checking out the weekend crowd . That poor lady needs a raise!! This Fairfield Inn was running great room rates during my fiancé's mother's birthday weekend so we planned a trip out to Longwood Gardens to take her there to celebrate her 70th. The staff here was pretty fabulous in putting up with our pesky questions. We have to give a shout out to Sean at the front desk who took care of us like a concierge. I'm a germaphobe and travel with my own sheets...just in case, but I didn't need to use them, the linen was fresh and the bed felt and smelled like I was sleeping on an Snuggle fabric softened sheep! Thank you Yelp for your recommendation of requesting a room on the parking lot side! We did not hear any noise at all from the freeway at night! Breakfast is built into your room rate and the spread could feed a football high school team. We also meet fellow Hawaii travelers at breakfast, what a small world! We really liked the 24 hour coffee and tea station in the lobby however there seems to be some kind of competition with the trash among employees to see of how long it can sit out and how many pieces of trash can pileup on top of it without toppling over. My only complaint about the property was that the pool and hot tub area could use some cleaning love and the weight room scale was very broken, unless I lost 43 lbs...yeah I found my justification to EAT more!! Unfortunately that wasn't to case but if your visiting Longwood or from the Philly/NJ/ Deleware area and want a close vacation, this is a great lodging option! read more

I will never recommend this place. Front desk staff was rude. From the time we showed up from the am and pm front desk that were no help. They knew we were there for a wedding and I was the Mother of the Bride. We requested a king room and to keep us all together. That did not happen. I tried to get my room earlier with having to get ready. They did not care and were rude. If you ever have a wedding and need a place to stay DO NOT Stay here. The bride was asked who is your VIP and she told them my parents well there was no VIP treatment. We got two queen beds which we requested a king. We had others get a room where the air did not work when they called the front desk they said yes we know the air doesn't work. It happened to two of the ppl attending the wedding. Why would you give someone a room where you know the air does not work. We called to get toilet paper and were told you have to wait til the manger of house keeping to come in bc the staff does not speak English. I think they really need to put their staff through a customer service class on how to treat your customers. This is unacceptable! read more

The front desk employees are extremely rude. I stayed there for my wedding this past weekend. I will never stay at this Fairfield Inn again. I had welcome bags to be given out to all my guest when I arrived I was given the wrong welcome bags and mine were not even out at the front desk. On Saturday morning one of my bridesmaid called down to the front desk to get more towels and toilet paper due to we were getting ready in the room. The front desk employee Tara gave her attitude saying it will take a while due to she can't communicate with the house keeping crew. Then when the mother of the bride went down to ask if her room was ready she was given attitude again from Tara. We had over 10 rooms. One of our guest checked in on Saturday and was given a room with broken air when the guest went down to request to be moved she was told by Tara that the air was broken and she knew . She then proceeded to check in another guest to that room a little bit later which the room was 80 degrees all night. Another guest had mold in their room and had to be moved at 2am. On Saturday night after the wedding I asked my guest staying if they received welcome bags, majority stated they didn't even get a bag. Told my guest to go down, and another front desk employee gave her a hard time. I ended up going down and getting my welcome bags back. I was asked who I was told her the bride and I was still given a hard time. Then when one of my guest was checking out she was given a hard time by Tara when she asked for a print out of her total. Another person from my wedding block overheard Tara talking to other guests saying the bride came down stairs saying we were apparently not giving her bags out. Your wedding day is already stressful so to add this stress was not necessary. I will say dealing with the sales coordinator about the room block was the less stressful part and she was very nice and easy to deal with. But the two front desk employees we dealt with Saturday were rude and unprofessional. read more

I'm rating it 3.5 stars but decided to round up. Friendly staff, clean, free breakfast and wifi, near attractions and some shopping area. There's a swimming pool and whirlpool, small gym. There's no couch in the hotel room, only a single seat. The room is small comparing to other marriot chain hotels. My hubby and I and our 2 small kids had a room with 1king sized bed. We expected a larger sized room with a couch. We asked for a rollaway bed and now the only issue is where to set it in the room. Space is small. If it's a single or two people guests, then I'm sure the lodging arrangements would be more comfortable. read more

Loud Heat. And not exactly accurate digital thermostat. I have to agree with the other reviewers - friendly staff, clean facility, the free breakfast included do it yourself waffles, oatmeal, plenty of fruit, yogurt, sweet rolls, sausage and eggs. You could really go nuts for the breakfast buffet. The pool is too small to do laps in. The workout facility was small (free weights, (missing one 30 lb weight?) two treadmills, a recumbent bike and a stepper), but worked out fine to burn the calories I was picking up at meetings. My biggest headache - the room was quiet, but the heat was L O U D and cycled on and off a lot. Like wake you awake in the middle of the night loud, and was high on the temperature as well. The thermostat read 69 degrees F, but it was more like 80 in the room. To compromise, I set it down to 64, which made it comfortable and kept the darn heat from starting up too many times during the night (and waking me up again and again.) This place has a good location - it's right next to Exelon's HQ, which is handy if you work for that company. Otherwise, you're driving to get into town. Free WIFI is included, and you have to renew your "lease" daily. That seems odd, but who cares - it worked. read more

The hotel is nice. The staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit small I don't care for the yellow huge from the paint on the walls and the yellow light bulbs. I preferred a white light. The room was clean the breakfast was good nothing over the top. I do recommend more options for people who don't eat pork. My only problem was the bathroom had old dead mats killed everywhere from the wall to the ceiling. No one clean that and the tub look a little suspect. read more

I stayed here for work, and the price was good. The room was standard. My room was on the first floor, being my first time there I Didnt know that I would be able to hear traffic as well as people having breakfast in the morning. If the option is available I would ask not to be on the first floor. Breakfast was great. I suggest you bring drinks/water with you. I ended up buying a bottle of water from the hotel when I arrived at night and it was about $2.80! The staff is nice, however either they are understaffed or unattentive- they have a room behind the front desk and it seemed very often when i would go to the desk there was no one there because they were in that room. I will be coming again for my work events! read more

Good place to stay and when we came in and Lisa's Xu Husband Jin Wei that is friend my mom had to pay our check in since the Family got there first while we got to carry an elderly which is Lisa's Mother and the grandma of April Xu and Katherine Jin in our car to the hotel after we pick Lisa's Mother at Lisa's House in Fresh Meadows and after we eat lunch in Philly Chinatown and explore the area . We were put on the room in the first floor by the elevator side since it was for the mom of Lisa Xu and Grandma of two daughter April Xu and Katherine Jin that can' walk and using a cane to walk. We got two Rooms with a bathroom and two bed and we were not across from each other and it the other room was the near the hotel room that was across from us but it was located one door down from the room that was across from us. There is a sofa Bed which is a pull out bed that can be turned into a bed and can turn back to a sofa. Nice breakfast area and we get to order Dominos Pizza which was advertise on the front of the hotel room key card. There a TV in Lobby and this the only Marriott Hotel company I stayed at. This hotel is full of racist staff! My friend who was staying with me went to get breakfast downstairs and was accused of stealing the FREE continental breakfast. He was singled out cause he was of mixed culture. She was very rude and after he told her what room he was staying in she proceeded to tell him she doesn't think he is staying there. He was insulted in front of everyone who was sitting down eating breakfast. When he produced the room key is when she apologized! The damage was already done! Its POTTSTOWN PA you never had an encounter with a biracial person?? Then when I came down to speak to the general manager BRIAN he was also rude and told us she was doing her job and all he could offer was an apology. We then asked him (THE GENERAL MANAGER) for headquarters phone number and he said he didn't have it on him so we asked if he coild please get the number and he said well I'm telling you its on record what happened and calling headquarters is not necessary. He finally gave us the number and it was a fake number. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN! The room had roaches and smelled like mildew!! RACIST HOTEL STAFF! LOOK FOR ANOTHER HOTEL! Stayed in 316 for a week last month on business. It was fine, though expensive for the size. Returned for a rare overnight with my wife and got 305. $200 for the room which faces the freeway. The windows and HVAC unit let in so much road noise, we were woken up at 5:30AM and couldn't get back to sleep. HVAC unit was also rattling, which only added to the frustration. VERY disappointing beginning to what was supposed to be a special day. Maybe it's fine for some people, but I won't be returning unless I am guaranteed an even numbered room facing the parking lot or Marriot finds a way to block out the traffic noise on that building. Excellent hotel. The King suite was nice and comfortable, with a flat screen TV in both the bedroom area and sitting area. Good water pressure and shower head. The included breakfast buffet was much better than most, with fresh eggs, oatmeal, fruit. and the ubiquitous waffle machine. Coffee and tea were available all day. read more

I'm giving this hotel 2 stars because there isn't an option to give it 2.5. Overall the hotel met my expectations as I was just staying overnight while visiting Lincoln University. However -- they can definitely brush up on a lot of their services. Beautiful lobby and welcome reception. I did mobile check in so all that was needed was to pick up my key and head to the room. As for the room, it was a basic hotel room. Nothing fancy. However, you could see clumps of dust on the wall above the headboard, the room smelled of faint mildew, and the lampshades were damaged. All of these factors just made the hotel experience a bit negligent. I understand it was a reasonable & fairly economical rate, but there could've been some TLC added to the room. At one point, the evening concierge/receptionist was no where to be found. The phone was left ringing and there was no staff. About a 15 minute drive to just about everything, complimentary breakfast, and 24-hour coffee are some of the perks, but they should really consider night staffing & replacing damaged furniture. read more

Pros the cleanest room of any hotel or motel I've ever stayed. Cons first night my wife got locked in the bathroom due to a malfunction of The lock. I I could let her out from the outside. Television some channels not very clear. No refrigerator in the room only place of this quality that did not have one in the room. Came back second night card key did not work. I could not find a manager for 12 minutes called the office and he came out as the phone was ringing. Choose this due to location near Longwood Gardens will not be staying in Marriotts again. Four days prior, I needed to cancel my reservation, and though I signed a contract that the room was non-refundable, the manager took pity on me and refunded my $350 back. I understand that hotels have rules and contracts and all that, but it's always nice when a business makes a happy customer. Spotless. Reasonably priced, close to the wineries and shopping. An hour away from Lancaster, PA and across the border from Delaware, a great place to have a short vay-cay without investing a lot of moola (assuming you are coming from NYC, as I did). Soundproofed rooms, a tidy little gym (one elliptical and two treadmills), free breakfast which had hot selections. 24/7 on coffee and tea. Lovely desk staff. Can't be beat. read more

My wife and I sought refuge from the Wind and Snowstorm that struck the Phiily area on Friday Evening, March 2nd. We were particularly impressed by the young lady who booked my wife and me into the last available room. - Her first act of kindness was to automatically offer me a senior discount (without my having to ask for it), improving the value of the fine room we were assigned. - Second, we had a fair amount of "stuff" to transport up to the room, and despite being busy, she located a cart device for me to load our belongings onto, to take up to the room. - Her third act of kindness really impressed us. My wife has mobility problems (she walks with a walker), and the young woman took my wife up to the our room, while I loaded the cart. This was an act of kindness far out of the ordinary, and we deeply appreciated it. The room was fine for our needs, and the complimentary breakfast was very good, too.... read more

One of the most comfortable, clean and conveniently located hotels in the Wilmington, DE area. This is our second stay here and we are very pleased with the both. Thanks to all the staff for such a great maintenance (everything looks like brand new), cleanliness, great free breakfast, and the nicest attitude of the front desk. But the most appreciation goes to the people who are responsible for the interior design of the rooms. Everything we needed was in the places we needed it to be. A let down for a Marriott property. Being a road warrior for work, I stay at many different Marriotts across the country and this property is a definite disappointment. Rooms are small and operations are not efficient. My 6 year old locked the bathroom door by accident so we couldn't get in, after repeated calls and promises of someone on their way, no one showed. We finally unlocked it ourselves after an hour wait. Also very noisy rooms if you are unfortunate enough to get one facing the road. No sound proofing at all. We came back to catch some zzzs and take a shower before dinner and was unable to do neither. Will not stay again in future. read more

The yelp summary "Meh. I've experienced better" captures it well. The hotel is perfectly normal, but here is the problem. They were never able to give us working keys to our room. So it took us about 45 minutes to get into the room because we had to try 4 sets of keys before the desk clerk finally walked us to our room and let us in using the master key. The trouble continued the second day when the maid and desk clerk had to let us into our room anytime we wanted to enter. The front desk clerk told us he was actually still in training which is why he did not know how to quickly give us a new room. The person who was supposed to be training him did not show up on time so he was working alone. read more

Stayed here on a day it was 90 degrees. Went to check in and was told the pool was not operational. At 3:30 in the morning the air conditioning started making a squealing noise had to hit it to get it to stop but it would start making the noise again a few minutes later so turned it off. Got up next morning and turned on tv to watch the news, cable wasn't working! Worked fine night before. Vending machine on our floor was out of order so went to desk to see where there was another one. Lady said there isn't anymore but we have soda here we can sell you for $3 a bottle!! read more
