My wife owns a 2016 Passat. She is very detailed about bringing it in on the proper cycle for a Volkswagen. She had it in five weeks ago, and you marked everything as green, including the brakes. There's been a grinding noise for the last few days in the front of her car so I insisted that she let me take it to my garage instead: Pfefferle Automotive in Fairfield. The brake pads are almost gone. The grinding noise was the rotors. This is only five weeks after you greenlighted it. They were very specific that anyone that actually looked at them could see the level of wear. Therefore, the only logical conclusion was that your people either didn't do the work and look at them, or they are telling a bald face lie. I would hope that FF Volkswagen would take ownership of the issue and reimburse us for the work they should have done in the first place. This wasn't an "inconvencience" kind of issue... this is a potentially hazardous and dangerous kind of issue. read more

Be very careful with this dealership! I did a trade in and decided to lease. The dealership owed me $19,000 on the exchange. It has now been 40 days and no check. No title memo. No license plate. Contacted the salesman numerous times and gave him a new address to ship everything to. Says he took care of it. I am now 5 days away from expired plates and currently out $19,000. I give a very low rating for the overall communication and service at Fairfield VW. My main concern centers around my Tiguan's overuse of oil, and the communication I have received from Fairfield VW's dealership service department. The low oil indicator light has turned on four times over the past 26 months. I understand that new engines do need some time to settle in; give the oil time to distribute to all the seals for proper lubrication (low oil light June 2021). However, even after the PCV valve was replaced in July 2022, I still had a low oil indicator light turn on this past December. When I took my vehicle to Fairfield VW for inspection, I was told that "the new engines tend to burn more oil in order to conserve fuel - this issue is normal." After the service appointment, it was reiterated that the use of oil is typical... low oil lights will turn on, no leaks were found, and my vehicle was perfectly fine. I find this response completely unacceptable. I have never in my experience had a new car use as much oil as this Tiguan has used. And frankly, for the service department to just tell me this is normal - that I should simply drive around with an extra quart of oil in my trunk - is unprofessional and irresponsible. I have owned several makes of cars, VW included, and never have I had a car's low oil indicator light up as much as this Tiguan's has. Between the communication with my overuse oil situation, multiple attempts investigating the oil consumption problem, and a previous EVAP repair that had to be done twice, I have lost confidence in the service department at Fairfield VW. After talking to several people with significant mechanical experience, I was made aware that it might take a new engine to fix this problem - some internet research shows that a class action lawsuit was settled over VW engines consuming too much oil. In addition, I was advised that the response of Fairfield VW was inaccurate, dangerous, and dismissive. read more

I went to the service department and the service person asked how they could help. I asked my question, which he did not know the answer. I asked if I could ask one of the mechanics . He indicated they don't answer questions for free. I was taken back by this. I bought the car there...great experience and have been buying parts from them for years. Caution taking your car here for service. I brought in my GTI to have the timing components serviced. I drove my car in and had to have a wrecker bring it home when they were done. They told me that it "spun a balance shaft" while on the test drive after they were done and there was nothing they could do except replace the whole motor which was around 6,000$. After finally having it looked at independently it was discovered that the balance shaft was definitely seized as well as the guides were destroyed and multiple valves were bent from their test drive. From the looks of it, the technician drove it out of time and with little to no oil in it. I fought them for a couple months over this before I gave up. After they had negotiated a price with the salesman (Ron) AND his "supervisor ", both parties agreed to proceed with the purchase. The dealership had informed this older couple that everything regarding paperwork would have to be done via their smartphone...(wow). I couldn't believe that the dealership had the couple fill out all their personal and financial information on the phone. The salesman also told them they would have to contact their insurance company and have it added to their policy before they could drive it off the lot. So they went through the 30 min ordeal to jump through that hoop as well. Immediately following the completion of ALL of that, the salesman said "well I apologize, but it looks like that vehicle was actually sold this morning(it's after 4:00pm at this time) so I can't sell you that one, but I can make you a good deal on the other one out there ...?". At first they thought it was a prank, but it wasn't. Understandably the couple was furious. They asked how this could happen and discussed the gross incompetence of the staff, then Demanded to speak with the manager. As if it wasn't bad enough, the manager fell in step with the staff. The "other vehicle" they were offering to "give a good deal on" was one with prior damage reported and had MORE MILES!!!! Completely appalled by this and noticeably embarrassed, the couple left. While leaving, Now having to go through calling the insurance back to go through the lengthy process again of putting their policy back to normal, I left and told the manager this story would be told, reported and shared. His salesman's reply was deafening... simply replied" this isn't my first bad review and it won't be my last I'm sure..." the managers was just as bad stating " if they aren't interested in the other one(the one with recorded damage and more miles for the same price), there is nothing else I can do ". The vehicle they had agreed to purchase had 17k miles and one owner with no damage. Who in their right mind would ever do business here after learning this.... needless to say no one I know will ever be and I hope they are reported to the news or something. Despite all of the negative reviews, I called and scheduled an appointment about a week and a half ago for this coming Friday 06/15/2018. I made sure to repeat myself several times to the gentleman that I spoke with letting him know that I would need a "rental vehicle" while mine is in for warranty work. Yesterday, I received a phone call telling me that they are "too busy" and would not be able to look at my vehicle on Friday. I asked how long they were talking and they stated that they would need my car for a week or so. I said so if I drop it off are you going to provide me a vehicle for a week or so? He then states that all rentals are currently loaned out and that they had walk in appointments that they took in front of the one I scheduled over a week ago. Needless to say I am going to take my vehicle elsewhere. As a first time Volkswagen owner, I have never had this kind of issue with a Chevy dealership. EVER. He didn't apologize, he didn't try to make it right, just said "ok". Very disappointed in the service, or lack there of. read more

This dealership is the biggest rip off I've ever been to. The only reason I continued to go to this place for so many years is because it is the only dealership in the NW part of Cincinnati. Every time I go into the place they tell me I have something wrong with my car. Most of the time I bite my tongue and and just tell them to fix it however the last few times I've been in there all I get is crap. I get told it will take 45 minutes for an oil change and end up waiting 90+. Some young prick in the service area just wants to get you in and out of the computer area like you don't matter and when they finally give me my keys low and behold there is something else that needs done. The last time I was in, I left and noticed that my check engine light had come on after the oil change. I called back and was told that I would have to reschedule an appointment and come back another day. I had to drive to COLUMBUS the next day and they just said oh it will be fine as long as the light isn't flashing. Excuse you? Drive over 300 miles there and back with my check engine light on that you caused? Then to top it off, she told me that they can't give me a loaner so I would have to just wait until I come back. Now the service manager did correct this and I appreciate Stacey for all she's done in the past for our multiple cars we've bought and brought back in to be serviced but this was outrageous. Now I am being told that I have to pay to have my front license plate mounted to my car. $75 for something they should have done when they sold me the car. I absolutely am done with this place and would never recommend it to anyone. We had the worst experience with this dealership. My wife and I stopped by last Tuesday to test drive and presumably purchase a used 2012 Santa Fe. We worked with Jake (a younger salesman), John and another gentleman (I think his name was Lee?,short dark hair) who was so incredibly rude that we ended up walking out after speaking with him for less than 60 seconds (after the 45+ we had been talking with Jake and John). We showed up to the dealership with a check book looking to buy this vehicle and Lee(?) was so rude, demeaning and made my wife and I feel so uncomfortable. After sharing that story with several friends and co-workers several of them also had complaints about your dealership. I was shocked that with so many car dealers in south western Ohio and how rarely people purchase vehicles in a lifetime that I was able to hear multiple negative stories about this specific dealership. We were able to purchase a 2012 Santa Fe with 1200 more miles and with a V6 instead of a 4cyl for the exact offer we made to the Fairfield VW, the offer that we were made to feel like idiots for making. I would like to say that Jake and John were very nice and easy to work with but I cannot make a strong enough case for what an disrespectful clown the third gentleman was. We ended up purchasing our car from Coyle Nissan outside of Lousiville and had such a great experience from the moment we spoke on the phone through test driving the car and working with their finance staff. read more

Sold a fake warranty to me upon buying a used car. Claimed it covered all electronics for the life of the loan. 3 yrs later the radio/dvd player goes out and the warranty company says it was not covered, the warranty was only good until the car wad 5 yrs old, which was 1 yr after i bought it. $2000+ for 1 yr of coverage!!! And fairfield says, yeah we shouldnt have sold you that, but nothing we can do now! How about keeping your word, or having customer service. Never buy from this place, crooks. Customer service manager was no help and agreed it should have never been sold to us, but offered no recompense... Update: The day after i posted this, the business manager reached out to me about this issue. We agreed that they would look at the car and they offered a free diagnostic. Once the diagnostic was complete, the business manager worked with the general manager and agreed to cover the cost of the replacement due to the confusion. Part was replaced today and my wife is once again happy.. I'm still not happy about the warranty, but glad that Fairfield Volkswagen stepped up and resolved the issue. read more

We have been dealing with Fairfield Volkswagen for a couple years now. We bought our Jetta GLI from them in the fall 2012 with no issues. Last year we were in a small accident and decided to have their certified body shop do the repair. We had to bring the car back 4 times before the work looked to be done correctly, but after driving the car 20 miles realise none of the hardware has been reinstalled on the plastic under panels. We found this out by the panels dragging the ground. Now at 40,000 miles we start having trouble getting the 6 speed in gear, so we take to Fairfield Volkswagen to be serviced again. They take the car in for a repair, we get a call the next day with the diagnoses that the clutch is bad and will not be covered under warranty as it is a wearable part. I explain we have been driving manual Volkswagens since 1996 and have never had to replace a clutch before 120,000 miles. They tell me its due to driving style or maybe resting my foot on the clutch. I explain this crazy, but to no avail. Now I'm out $1400 for a clutch in a car with 40,000 miles on it. At this point we think maybe we have just got a lemon of a Jetta GLI, so we go and see about a new VW at the same dealership. We tell them we are interested in a 6 speed manuel GTI. They do not have any but send us on a test drive in an auto GTI, the entire drive the salesman is trying to sell this automatic to us. Repeatedly we explain we are only interested in a manual. He is not happy. He asks what colors we would be interested in, we tell him black, silver, or white. After a few minutes he returns and says he has good news, he has found a blue one! We do not want a blue one. After not finding a car that we want, he gets another employee(manager) and they try to get us to signoff on buying a car. Site unseen or knowing what color it would be. This is not what I expect when dealing with a dealership. I have worked in sales for 20 years. 90% of customer service is listening. read more

Seriously the absolute worse place you can go to. The only reason they get one star is because it requires it. It's near impossible to get ahold of Stacey Riggs, I called and left about 4 voicemails in a week and got nothing. I had to keep calling. But I wanted them to look at my headlight to see what was wrong with it and why it kept going out. Josh Neeley looked at it and said that I was missing the back plastic cover piece to protect the lights from moisture and stuff. And that it would be 220 to fix so I said not to worry about it that was too expensive, he then made a comment saying good luck finding somewhere else to replace that piece only the dealerships will or I will have to get a whole new assembly. I was on my way to work about 5 days later and the whole headlight assembly flew out on the highway!!!! Tell me why this happened. I called and talked to josh about it and he laughed at me saying that he told me I needed a locking latch. We argued back and forth because he NEVER told me I needed that piece. He only told me I needed the back plastic piece. I had 2 other mechanics write a letter stating that I was never missing any type of locking piece! So therefore he lied to me and wouldn't own up to his mistake. I finally got ahold of Stacey and she was absolutely no help to me at all. I told her I have had this car for over 3 years and my headlight assembly just now falls out 5 days after I brought it in there to get it looked at and all she could say is she didn't know why and ended with this is not the dealerships responsibility. SO DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I'm not one to write reviews but when I've been treated the way I have with them then I feel that everyone should know so that you can avoid them. This dealer's service department is downright disappointing. The staff was courteous, but leads you on (maybe unintentionally?) to believe they can perform services in a timeframe they can't. They're whole service appointment process is pointless. I understand that my car is not going to start being worked on right when I bring it in, but if I set a service appointment I do expect for a technician to at least look at it then to diagnose the issue. I pretty much already told them what I know the manual said was wrong based on the dash indicator light (battery drained + failing alternator), so it couldn't be that hard just to confirm it! The biggest failure was the service rep not checking with the parts dept to see if they had the alternator in stock for my Jetta. I made it clear that I was from out of town from Cleveland for my sister's wedding and that if it wasn't able to be fixed that day or by the following morning I'd need to go to another service center that could fix it in this timeframe or face being stranded in Cincinnati. I brought the car in for a 10:15am appt and then called them back around 2pm and was told a technician was looking at my car "right now." That was a LIE. It turns out when I called back around 4pm the service rep said the techs were "too busy" today and had NOT looked at my car yet. Why have device appt available if your techs are already overwhelmed? They finally called me back a little later to confirm it was the battery and alternator (duh, and this obvious diagnostic cost $95!). Then they tell me they don't have the part in stock and couldn't get it and fix my car until Mon. Couldn't they have checked about the part I told them I needed to begin with from the start? In the end I took it to Jim's Tire & Auto Service in Hamilton on Sat morning. They sourced the part for me THAT DAY and had my car fixed by noon for hundreds less than the dealer. Now how can a small repair shop accomplish this but the dealer for my own car brand can't? The most disappointing thing was being led on from the start that my car could be fixed that day, that they probably did have the part in stock, and that they lied about looking at it when they weren't. My dealer Classic VW in Mentor back home would never pull these shenanigans. I would avoid this service dept like the plague especially considering there are other better reviewed VW dealers in the area. read more

I took my VW Jetta in for routine service and to check why the traction indicator was interminttenly blinking on the dashboard. Also, a fault message for the passenger airbag had come on once. This was the second time I had used Fairfield VW for service. The first time was for an oil change and routine maintenance and a wiring recall (passenger airbag wiring) and service then wasn't great, but nothing compared to the last visit. Oil change and routine maintenance: It is the dealership, so the cost is a lot more than an independent or franchise garage, but the service isn't any better. Warranty work: Awful experience. The manager handled the paperwork properly, or so I thought at the time. After all the work that was done, I was charged by VW an additional $1000 for "items not covered under the warranty." Naively, I paid it and was just glad to have my car in working order. The car didn't handle as it had before and I felt an issue with the steering. A recent trip to another VW mechanic has shown me the light. The work that Fairfield VW performed was subpar and only a few months later, the same work needs to be redone! Same fault codes, same issue! Passenger air bag issue: I have a dog, a 12 pound dachshund that rides in a car harness in the front seat. For months, no problem with air bag fault messages, and suddenly one day it popped on, so during the oil change and other service, I asked them to check it out. VW Fairfield said the fault message was coming from the dog riding in the front seat, and charged me $125 to "reset it." And of course, that wasn't covered under the warranty. I paid it, but really, would a 12 pound dog impact the air bag sensor in the car seat? I have sat heavy purses or boxes on the front seat that weighed way more than 12 pounds and the sensor didn't come on, but figured these VW certified technicians knew what they were talking about. No, fast forward a few months later and the independent mechanic has found the true issue (electrical wiring) and the mechanic chuckled when I told him the dealership told me my 12 pound dachshund was the cause of the fault message. Bottom line: avoid VW Fairfield for maintenance. I have no confidence in their mechanical abilities and in their honesty and ethical business manner. read more

I really believe in the Volkswagen brand - the friendliness, the design, the overall experience - I bought into it all. That's why I purchased a Jetta a few years ago - and that's why my boyfriend did, too. While we were in Cincinnati for a family wedding, his car's little battery symbol illuminated as soon as we rolled into town. Not sure of what this little light meant, we consulted the car manual and confirmed our investigation at AutoZone. It was bad news - the alternator. Because we had a rehearsal dinner, photos, a wedding, and tons of family to see, we decided to take his car to the dealer. We have had such great experiences at our dealer in Cleveland, it was a no brainer. They'd fix the car up with little hassle, and we'd be on our way to enjoy the festivities. BUT BOY WERE WE WRONG. This dealer is a joke. After scheduling an appointment the day of his sister's wedding at 10am, we explained to the service department our situation, we explained our situation of being out of town with jobs located 5 hours a day, and we explained our expectations from the dealer. The bottom line is that Fairfield Volkswagen completed dropped the ball. We had to call the dealer 4 separate times during the day to check the progress. It ended up turning out that Fairfield Volkswagen didn't even LOOK at our car until 4:30pm. We were repeatedly LIED TO about the progress of our 10am appointment. Furthermore, they didn't even have the part in stock - so they weren't even able to honor the requirement we had both stated when we dropped the car off - that the car had to be fixed by the next day for our return trip to Cleveland. In the end, we had the car towed to a local repair shop. This shop sourced the part that day, worked overtime to get the job done, and did it at HALF THE PRICE. Regrettably, this is the closest Volkswagen dealership to me so when I need routine maintenance or warranty work this is where I go. Lately, my Beetle Dune went in for regular maintenance and I also had then look at my backseat cover which was coming apart. They told me they needed to order a new leather seat top and it word take 7-10 days to come in due to it being a Beetle seat which was fine. Fast forward to us dropping it off this past Monday 4/30 so they could simply replace ONE seat cover and and get my vehicle back to me, but instead it is now 5/3 and I don't own my car! This appt was made ahead of time and if they are too busy then say so sooner than me being without my car all this time! I don't recommend service here! read more

His salesman's reply was deafening... simply replied" this isn't my first bad review and it won't be my last I'm sure..." the managers was just as bad stating " if they aren't interested in the other one(the one with recorded damage and more miles for the same price), there is nothing else I can do ". The vehicle they had agreed to purchase had 17k miles and one owner with no damage. Who in their right mind would ever do business here after learning this.... needless to say no one I know will ever be and I hope they are reported to the news or something. My wife took her car in for usual oil change and after it was done was told the car would not start and they thought it was the timing chain. Never heard of driving it in running perfectly to not starting and then? I have no confidence in this dealer! Car has been there for a month now! read more

We took my car in for a 50,000 mile check they were not prepared for that service and made us wait when we were to drop car off. As we drove away from picking the car up the check tire light went off. They also didn't reset my services light. I keep trying to give them the anorher chance and they keep screwing up. Last year it took 3 months to get my car back after an accident and there were many problems with this repair. The salesman who sold me the Passat was awesome but I'm finished with their service dept! read more

If I could I would give it ZERO star!! The VW store do the regular maintenance including engine oil change, tire service, etc. in 30minutes!! I also told them to check my break. I do the regular maintenance two month ago which cost me more than $300 and the car break down on the highway. I tow my car to the nearest VW store and they told me I need to change the break, the engine oil is not enough, the control of ignition plus also need to be changed!! All of the above, the VW store in Fairfield did not told me anything about them!!!!! They told me my break is fine no need to change!!!!! NOW, I wonder, did they really do maintenance on my car?????
