I am always a bit trepidatious when going to a new oil place because I have definitely had my share of places that try to sell me things I don't need. Pfefferle, was not one of those places. I pulled into the driveway to get my car serviced and it was packed. I almost left because I figured it may be awhile, but the tech assured me that it was only going to take about 30 minutes or so and with, all my traveling, I can tell you my car Is probably running on mud right now instead of oil... yikes. So, 30 minutes wasn't too horrible. I went inside and most of the chairs were full in the waiting room, but they had a tv playing horrible soap operas and a full pot of fresh coffee. I stood around for a few, and realized they had a stack of magazines that had some unusual titles. I'm an artsy type and they had, sitting on the top of the stack, "International Artist." I was pleased and parked my butt in an empty seat. The guy at the front desk was very nice and took my info. My car has lots o miles, so I told him I wanted the oil that would make it purr like a kitten again instead of an asmatic old lion. I presented a coupon to him and he nodded in acknowledgement. I sat back down and watched him greet several of the regulars by name, and that's always a good thing in my book. After awhile they came in and showed me how dirty my air filter was and I cringed... I knew this visit would entail more than an oil change because it had been a pretty long time since I'd brought my car in for service. After about 10 more minutes he came in and said my serpentine belt was bad, and I had a feeling it was so that was no shocker. Well, my 30 minutes turned to about an hour. Not a huge deal, but I think they had to order my serpentine belt from another shop. What I am bummed about is that they didn't tell me, and my boyfriend overheard them ordering it from another shop. Had they set that expectation of my wait, I would have been fine. When I was all done and ready to pay, the guy told me that my coupon wasn't valid because I used a more expensive oil. I probably looked like someone kicked my puppy because the original guy never told me that. For a high mileage oil change, fluid top off, air filter, and serpentine belt I was looking at $160. After he realized the first guy had been told about my coupon, he gave me a $10 discount. I was happy again! He also gave me a loyalty card that gives me my 6th oil change free. Bonus!! The thing I liked the most about them, is that they could tell my car had some issues while starting, and they offered some ideas and mentioned that the auto shop up the street was theirs too. I can say that I will definitely be back here, and I may even try out their auto shop. The service was great, and my car's asthma is silenced for a bit. :P read more

Our maintenance required light was on in our minivan, dropped it off to Pfefferly for an oil change and confirm there was no other issues. They had everything replaced in no time at all. I don't know how to say this we always loved Pfefferele.... But in recent years not so much in 2023 we we had put in a new air compressor it went out before the warranty was up and they kept saying I hope it's still under warranty, it was we had the paperwork, and yes a man at the counter sai " yes it is under warranty, once they did not get everything oil in and the last oil change that didn't screw the screw in tight enough and we lost a lot of oil, a man from church screwed it in tight for us and put in oil the gentleman from church ask where we got the oil changed we told him, and told him about the faulty air compressor too, he as are we, not sure about going back to Pfefferele any more....... Horrible customer service. Took a car in for an oil leak. They claimed it needed several items totalling $4000. We paid it. Got home and the next morning, oil on garage floor. Took it back twice. After picking it up the third time....driving home on 275 lost all oil and burned engine up. They wouldn't even investigate the cause. Took to a dealer who found the gaskets were gouged. We ended up selling our car without a working engine for $3000. We tried to take to small claims court. They lawyered up and without a lawyer, or an expert witness that is a mechanic we couldn't pursue further. No mechanic would testify in fear of being blackballed in the industry. Pfefferle Tire on Main Street...manager Ben could care less. Wouldn't even look at us when we went back in to discuss. One star is too much of a rating. They should be shut down. They don't care about you or your car. BEWARE read more

I've had 2 cars serviced here over last 2 years. They are very thorough and communicate with customers in a very thoughtful and courteous manner. However, they never gave me a $50 credit for one service item that was questionable, but was promised to me. So, I'm not sure I'll go back. read more

They were my go to place for a quick and friendly oil change when I was having issues with Valvoline oil. BUT.......they decided to move their "quick" change service to their main building and you no longer have a drive in and out service. You now have to park the car, go into the shop schedule your oil change, sit in the lobby, wait your turn and then go back into your car when they are completed. How is this any quicker or better than taking it to any local mechanic shop for an oil change? I decided NOT to go here any more until they go back to the quick drive in/out service they once had. No I went back to Valvoline oil since I can at least stay in may can and get in/out pretty quick. NOT convenient or quick. read more

I have been going to them for two years with an older car I purchased with a lot of stuff that could be done but they tell me what I actually need to get done now and what can wait and what needs to be done in the near future so I can spread out the expense for up keep. Moved to Fairfield late last year and was looking for a local shop for maintenance to my truck. I called and spoke to Chris, who was friendly and got me on schedule a few days later. Came in first thing that morning and got what I needed done while I waited. I paid attention to what the service writers were telling customers and it was all knowledgeable and legit. My truck was back to me in about a hour and the total bill was probably 30% less than if I had taken it to a big chain auto shop. I'm pleased. read more

Update: Pfefferle has the audacity to call my spouse a liar. He had nothing to gain by lying about his sorry treatment. The employee I spoke to right after the verbal attack was clearly upset/ uncomfortable with the situation. So much so that I was told it wasn't a good idea to speak to Mr. Pfefferle at the moment. At that point I didn't even know how my husband was treated and knew something was up. Go ahead and make your claim of "great customer service". While it may be great most of the time, this instance is proof that Mr Pfefferle has a bad temper with a short fuse. AN APOLOGY IS ALL THAT WE WANTED. IT WOULD BE THE RIGHT THING TO DO. I will take my vehicle to Pfefferle for any major car needs. They were recently able to fix a problem that MIDAS caused to my vehicles break system. The manager/owner was straight forward with me about what needed to be done. He literally said , you can either take your car back and make Midas do this the right way or pay us to fix it with a guarantee that it'll be done right. NOW BE VERY CLEAR, you will PAY for EVERYTHING including the diagnostics at $100 an hour. Most places with waive this if you get the actual work done, Pfefferle DOES NOT. but the problem was resolved and here the kicker guys, I DIDN'T HAVE TO GO BACK THE NEXT WEEK BECAUSE SOMETHING ELSE TOTALLY UNRELATED WAS NOW BROKEN. Like I did when I went to Midas. From what I understand it's a family owned and operated business. The one gentleman I dealt with was nice but the manager wasn't as nice. He was just straight forward and blunt with me. Noticed something different with his interaction with others. Maybe they are friends or long standing customers but all of our money is green at the end of the day. I had to continue to reach out to them for updates. They weren't good at proactively keeping me informed about my vehicle. But at the end of the day the problem is fixed. read more

I needed new tires so I checked several places within a 10 mile range. The prices here were as good if not better than most. I called ahead to make sure they had the tires I needed in stock. I was told they did not have them, but they could get them at the location in a few hours. So I made an apt. When I arrived there were no other customers in the reception area and I was greeted right away. After a quick look (to make sure I really did need new tires?) my car was taken in. It took about an hour which is about what I expected. I was told I needed additional work to prevent improper wearing of the tires. Good to know, but the additional $$$ wasn't something I could do right now. Minimum pressure to get the work done, but when I said I just couldn't afford it right now he let it go. I would recommend this place, but as always, do your research so you have an idea what they are talking about when they recommend services. read more

Went there a couple months ago and they said there were some issues with the engine... ended up costing $1400. Went back last week because lights were coming on and the car didn't feel right.... now they say I need a new engine and it'll cost $3500. If I needed a new engine, that should have been said before I put $1400 into the old engine. Take your business elsewhere!!! They are awful and will try to get every dime they can out of you! read more
