My daughter had this recently at a friends house and is now asking for Fajita Pete's all the time. On Sunday nights I typically try to bring in family style meals that are (somewhat) healthyish and ordered their chicken fajitas for 4 this past Sunday. We are a family of 5 and my boys eat enough for a family of 17, but it was the perfect amount of food. We even had some leftovers for my husband to eat for lunch the next day. The rest of my family was just as big of a fan as my daughter. My youngest is pretty picky and he told me ahead of time that he does NOT like fajitas, but helped himself to many servings....and told me he really liked this meal. I was fortunate enough to visit during a soft launch. The owner was friendly and personable expressing his gratitude and welcoming me to test it out. The woman behind the counter explained to me the process, the food, and the history of this Texas based chain. She recommended the chicken and beef fajitas and when I noticed the sopapillas on the menu, I ordered that as well. The ambiance is focused on carry-out. This is not a sit and eat place although I think one could work here. The food is so flavorful. The chicken, beef, beans, and salsa all exceeded my expectations. The menu had some smile items that during dinner would be a different discussion. They have a Gallon of frozen margaritas. I am sorry... whaaaaaaat?! I can see this is going to be very dangerous for me and my wallet. The owner also explained the large variety of gluten-free options and their preparation methods for it. This is not a fast casual place. They make the food fresh when you order it. Let's talk value, when you first look at the price, it may be a surprise, but let's break it down, this includes the main food, but it also includes the chips and salsa that with some chains cost extra. 10/10 would enjoy again. We were able to make a stop for lunch after landing at O'Hare, and everything we had was so fresh and delicious. We had the shrimp, which was extremely tender and well-seasoned, as well as the carnitas, which had great flavor and was tender with crispy bits throughout. I also especially loved the grilled jalapeño for an added kick of heat on mine! We tried both the corn and flour tortilla and both were outstanding and toasty warm -- you could definitely tell they were made by hand fresh to order. The queso with their house made tortilla chips is also a must-try. We didn't know we were so close when we called to order, but they had everything ready to go for us in 20 minutes, and the service was absolutely wonderful. Wow, wow and wow. This is the place the North Shore has needed for some Tex Mex! We've ordered delivery (free!) from them a few times now for our family (including 19 month old daughter) and have been impressed every time. Our favorite combo is the chicken and shrimp fajitas -- the chicken is the most delicious chicken I've ever had - juicy and flavorful and the shrimp is a great change from steak. You get a very generous portion of meat / shrimp with your orders and they come with cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce and guacamole. We keep coming back to the flour tortillas - they are homemade and taste way better than the ones from other restaurants or the store! We've tried the flautas and quesadillas as well, which my daughter devours -- I should also mention their chips which she loves (we all do)! They are thin and crispy so not too overwhelming. The salsa is a bit spicy for me (but I'm a whimp). Last, but not least: MUST try the margarita and the churros. I'm typically not a frozen margarita person, but these are so tasty and not too sweet. we left ours out for a while and turned it into a margarita on the rocks, which was also amazing. The churros. Don't need to say more other than soft and crispy at the same time and served with Carmel sauce. They've apparently outsourced their delivery. App said delivered, but no delivery. Store confirmed our food was still sitting there waiting for pickup, but would not put a manager on the phone after 5 min of being on hold. Returned to tell us there is a "tweak" in the system. Fajita Pete's was exactly what I needed this week. I needed to feed 12 people at the beach for a 50th birthday celebration and Fajita Pete's was perfect! They do a magic trick with their tortillas so they travel perfectly. The steak, chicken, shrimp, and veggies were all cooked to perfection and arrived hot and ready to eat. Food itself is great, but darn the service is so incredibly slow. Stopped by midday midweek and it was empty, ordered 2 burritos. Then the waiting game began. took them 5 minutes to get a burrito pressed. another 5min to fire up the grill and. get the food going. all in all from ordering to getting my food in my hands took over 15min and I was the only customer they had. As I said the food is excellent but the staff / management / ownership are not trained or motivated to do anything fast. We ordered for the first time from here and got the family fajita combo. It is a lot of pretty good food. The steak and chicken were excellent and flavorful. It comes with so many sides. Warm chips, guac, salsa, queso, rice, beans, cheese, pico, lettuce and an appetizer and dessert. All were solid. The price appears high, but we have so much leftover for lunches. A good value really. if you're in a hurry, this place is fine. There's better Mexican food out there, but the people are nice and the food is quick. What is annoying is that you cannot conclude your transaction without leaving a tip. i'm a very generous tipper but when I pick up my own food and there's no service what am I tipping for? I paid my bill. this constant tip request for every single transaction and you're every walk of life is getting tiresome. There's nothing on the display that says no tip. The transaction will not close without it. Consequently just make sure you add 10% to 20% to your total before you go there because they're gonna make you leave a tip. in my case, it won't be a problem because I'm never going back there again. read more

We stopped by this weekend thinking they were open, but they don't open until Monday, 2/26. The staff was so nice and offered to give us a sample, they ended up making us a fajita dinner for two for free! We got tortillas, rice, beans, veggie fajitas, salsa, chips, guacamole...it was honestly a lot of food for two people and very reasonably priced. The food was so good, ready quickly, and the staff was very friendly. They even brought the food out to our car when we pulled up. Will definitely be back! I've been going to the original Fajita Pete's in West U, TX since I was 9 years old. And before that, my family went to its predecessor restaurant, Poblano's! I danced many a chicken dance there back in the day lol. It's been my sister and my favorite restaurant since we were kids - many a bday dinner were had there and many a special event catered by them. Any friend that was visiting us had to be treated to FP, and any time the kids had input on where we were going out to eat, our parents knew what our answer would be. I was visiting home over Christmas and popped into Fajita Pete's for dinner - imagine my excitement when the long-time manager there told me they were opening a franchise in the Chicago area! And not only the Chicago area but one suburb over from me in Wilmette! I finally had a chance to order from them last night. I was cautiously hopeful - I'd never had food from any Fajita Pete's but the original and was skeptical that a franchise would measure up. Luckily for me (and the whole North Shore) - it did! Free chips and salsa are included with all orders (as God intended). Their salsa has great flavor, and the chips are thin and crisp. Fajita Pete's fajita beef is my favorite of any restaurant I've tried- they marinate it in a mixture of lime and pineapple juice, and I absolutely love the little kick it gives the meat (plus it's a great tenderizer). Their rice and beans are solid but nothing to write home about. I absolutely love their flour tortillas. I'd never tried their margs before, but the cashier gave me samples of both and they were tasty, especially the strawberry. And at 10.5% ABV they'll pack a punch! I gave the churros a try this time. They're great, but I wish they included more sauce with them, the little container was maybe half full and we ran out after 2/4 churros. Anyways- this has been an essay, but I will always wax poetic when it comes to Fajita Pete's, which was such a large part of my childhood! If you're in the North Shore, give them a try! Be aware that there's no indoor seating (they're pretty much exclusively pick-up/delivery/catering these days). I recommend tacos al carbon (beef) as an affordable meal to dip your toe into the water and/or as a meal for kids (that was my exclusive order back in the day). Enjoy this taste of Houston!
