The food was great as well as the service. The restaurant itself was also clean and well organized place to stop by in order to get a quick bite. However be aware that they only take cash.

This is where you can find tacos.

I was just minding my own business and taking a walk when I found myself at Trendy Taco for some impulse eating. Food is made to order so it's not super fast. And payment is cash only. I ordered the al pastor taco ($3.25), the poblano raja taco ($3.50), and horchata ($3). The al pastor taco had nice chunks of seasoned meat and a touch of pineapple, which really made the flavors mingle well. I always like a smoky poblano so the poblano taco was a must. I always get horchata wherever it's available. The trio made a lovely lunch. I liked it so much, I went back on a different day to try their ground beef nachos ($9.95) because nachos! It wasn't quite up to par. But I made up for it with another horchata. What menu item do you recommend I try next?

I came here with my husband for a quick dinner on a Saturday night and it looked like they were pretty busy but mostly with take out orders. The guy taking the order was nice and friendly so that was nice. We ordered some pastor, some shrimp, some steak and some chicken tacos. The pastor with their yummy sauce was my favorite so definitely get that one. I didn't love the shrimp one as the flavor wasn't for me. My hubby said the chicken and steak ones were tasty but not as good as the pastor tacos. The wait for the tacos was okay but a little longer than normal for a quick taco joint, I'm guessing because they were trying to fulfill those to go orders. No complimentary chips and salsa while you wait which is something I've seen at other places. Overall it's a tasty place, not sure how it's really trendy but it looks nicer than a hole in the wall joint. Glad I tried it but not sure if I'll go out of my way to come back!

Tried the torta, burrito and tres leches (ironically haven't tried a taco yet :P) - Burrito: best we've had in a long time!! Definitely recommend. The filling is perfectly balanced and melts in your mouth. - Torta: supper flavorful, the bread was wonderfully soft and there was lots of meat inside - Tres Leches: super sweet but not in a sickening way, just delicious.

Just found this place on Yelp. Stopped in after work and was not disappointed! Their Chorizzo Tacos are the bomb. A little salty but absolutely delicious! The Al Pastor and Carne Asada were really good as well. We also had some chips and Guacamole on the side which was really good. We had the house made Horchata to drink and finished everything off with a piece of the Tres Leches cake! Amazing! If you are in the area and want some good food hit this place up!!!

A carbon tacos were juicy, flavorful, delicious!

Deliciously fresh and flavorful tacos and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I wish they'd take credit cards especially during Covid because they only accept cash which is a total bummer!

This review is months overdue since my family and I found this neighborhood gem during the summer. The menu is simple and service was excellent. My wife enjoyed a torta with grilled shrimp, I had the carne asada Burrito, my 4yo had the Cisco kid taco with ground beef and our toddler 1yo liked the plain quesadilla with a side of beans. Their horchata was tasty! We don't get to Wilmette often but if we do we'll need to make a pit stop at the Trendy Taco.

Delicious, unique and affordable tacos/burritos. At $3-4 per taco, you really can't go wrong with any of the selections. Everything from the low-key ambiance to the friendly service makes this a great place for a quick lunch. I got the chicken taco and the poblano taco and while I was hoping that the poblano taco would be a little spicier, the flavors in both of these were on point. Their hot sauces are really flavorful as well but not really all that spicy. The green sauce has a little more of a bold flavor and the red one has a bit more heat. Or combine them both! Their tres leches is super ooey gooey so definitely give that a try if it's available! Just remember that Trendy Taco is cash only so make sure you bring some paper with you.

Decent little taco joint in the northshore. Typically get the same thing each time we go because it's literally good each and every time! I stick to the carne asada taco & the shrimp taco plus we split chips and guacamole EVERY time (it my husbands favorite!). What's great is the tacos are filled with just the right amount to where they aren't falling apart and super messy. You'll easily get full off 2 tacos & guac. Also had their homemade fresh limeade which was so good we wish we had another when we got home! The only downsides are that it's cash only (we forgot tonight but thankfully there's a Chase ATM near by) & they don't offer free refills...so because the Limeade was so good we had to pay twice (yes we got a refill). So if you're looking for a decent taco joint check them out.

This place is very bad. Salsa isn't homemade. Service isn't good. Food is dry. And it's overpriced.

The menu is limited and for good reason as the focus here is placed entirely on the food...as it should be. The tacos are basically large street tacos and they explode with flavors and some heat. The tortillas? Freshly made with a splendid corn earthiness. I had the tinga chicken tacos and my spouse had the birria tacos and both were excellent. In Winnetka all the pleasant surroundings might prop up the food a bit so it's very refreshing to put all that aside and experience a level of Mexican food culture that is rarely enjoyed this far North of the border.

I'm glad more restaurants are opening up as this spot has gone been through two other restaurants. I'm rooting for you! Overall, I thought it was just ok, but I need to order more things. Mexican rice - good Pastor taco - just ok. Potato flautas - it was soggy by the time I got home (I highly recommend you ask for the sauce on the side so your food can stay crispy). Overall, just ok. Being from California, we get a lot of great Mexican restaurants. In San Diego, they have rolled tacos that are delicious. This place does not have a wide selection on the menu compared to La Taquiza or Guanjuanto but I want to come back and try some other things. The elote salad looks good.

My first thought was, "This is like Chipotle, if Chipotle was actually good," and I'm sticking with that. Perhaps that can be the new slogan for Guzman y Gomez. Run with it, put it on your bags and cups, just make sure to pay me back in free burritos. It's not exactly the same model as Chipotle. You don't watch the magic happen, so there's no opportunity to request a little more of this or a bit less of that. But the staff here are so eager to please, I always find I get exactly what I was looking for anyway. If you need a little more of anything, just ask, and they're happy to oblige. Plus, this place has so many more options than Chipotle, it's crazy. Better food, better atmosphere, just better overall. During my first visit, I had the pleasure of chatting with one of the chefs, Dustin, and I could hear the passion for cooking in how he spoke about this role here. He broke down all their vegan options for me and made sure my first burrito was an absolute hit. It's probably that first visit that got me hooked, so G y G is lucky to have a guy like him. Two vegan mayos, chipotle or herb, both delicious. Pulled shiitake mushroom, seasoned beautifully and cooked to order. Perfectly cooked rice, yummy fajita veggies, salsa options galore, it was all spot on. Super authentic Mexican? No, but that's ok. "Inspired by authentic Mexican food" is fine by me. And how'd they manage to get so many friendly employees? I've been here a half a dozen times, and everyone is so damn chipper and happy to help. Plus, the music is upbeat and fun, not some dreary corporate playlist. I actually *want* to eat in, which I rarely look forward to in a fast food spot. I'm loving it. There are times when you just need something satisfying and fast that doesn't break the bank. This place brings that energy via fresh ingredients prepared with expertise. Plus, as I said, Chipotle is garbage. I'm glad Guzman y Gomez decided to pop up in Evanston.
