This is a very small restaurant (hence - Little Kitchen) that must do a lot of takeout since there were three tables in the restaurant. Fortunately, there was a table open when we arrived. We were greeted right away with an enthusiastic hello. They have a large menu for such a small place. Around the table we ordered chips and salsa, nachos, taquitos, and huaraches. We'd never had huaraches before so this was new to us. Everything was good. Portion sizes were large and everything was fresh and tasty. I placed a to-go order from My Little Kitchen and tried the chicken tinga taco and the steak torta. The total came out to around $20 with tax, which felt a bit steep considering the portion sizes. The chicken tinga taco was flavorful and satisfying--definitely the highlight of the order. The steak torta, on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. While it had tasty elements like guacamole, grilled cheese, and jalapeños, it seriously lacked steak. For a steak torta, there was very little actual steak, and what was there got lost in the mix of everything else. That said, the flavor overall was solid. The red salsa had a nice kick and tied things together well. I'd consider giving them another try, but I'd hope for better value and balance in the ingredients next time. read more

We had food from My Little Kitchen for a work event. All of the tacos were individually wrapped. I thought the beans were good, the guacamole was fresh and tasty. The shrimp (fried) tacos were good, with a nice amount of shrimp as well as the traditional onions and cilantro. The pastor tacos were ok, filled with a lot of meat although I found it dry. I thought each taco was a good portion. Overall I found the food tasty, although I would want to either eat in (sounds like it is a small place), or order a combination of food to go. I wanted to like this spot more than I did. I have been looking for another Mexican restaurant for carryout- saw this had good reviews and was worth checking out. Its really tiny and located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. It has about 2-3 tables inside, but is really setup for carryout. We ordered a steak taco plate and chicken enchiladas with a side of tomato/lettuce. These dishes both came with rice and beans. The enchiladas are all mole sauce (no verde, red sauce etc) you are only able to choose the meat option, but cant mix and match meats like other places allow. The mole chicken enchilada itself was pretty good. The mole sauce has a deep slightly spicy flavor that goes well with the shredded chicken. I asked for extra cheese on top, which Im glad I did. I also added sour cream from my fridge when I got home as nothing was included. What completely fell short was the rice and beans. Main issue was lack of flavor and dry- So much so my boyfriend grabbed seasoning from the cabinet to add to it. Unfortunately, the pic looks better than how it actually tasted flavor wise. My boyfriend did say his steak tacos were good, but with all the mexican restaurant options in the chicagoland area I wouldnt go out of my way to go back. Overall experience 3/5. read more

Rice was fluffy and had perfect texture. Their salsa isn't watered down so that good. Price is high compared to driving a few minutes to the other taco joins in Roger's Park. However, it's made up by better food and not watered down salsa. So you get better food here. Bonus that Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream is a few doors down.. love! Update: Today we had Chile Relleno meal and a steak burrito. Chile Relleno came with rice and beans. It was stuffed with a good amount cheese and the sauce had a homemade feel. The dinner was yummy. Son likes the steak burrito over the steak tacos he had the other week. I have yet to try the steak options. I'm sure they are good as so far everything has been. Carryout taqueria with a few tables for those needing a place to grab a bite. Contrary to the many high starred reviews I found the food to be average and bland. Though their salsas are hot and hottest, woo! Pricing is affordable and your carryout bag will have weight. Based on reviews, our lunch group tried the shrimp, al pastor and beef in tacos and burritos. The shrimp is breaded and fried but with all the sauces the breading falls apart into mush. The shrimp should be tossed in marinade and fried without any breading. IMO. It's fresh and should be enjoyed in that state. Other proteins are prepared well done and the seasoning is just, meh. Burritos have rice in them if you appreciate a filling meal. In the burbs taquerias are few and have quite a distance between them. So you'll remember the standouts. read more

03/15/22 - My wife, brother in law & I were looking for a a Mexican restaurant (Taco Tuesday) to grab a bite to eat in the area near Old Orchard Theater as we were going to go there to see the new Batman movie. We found My Little Kitchen in a strip mall @ 4031 W Dempster Avenue in Skokie. We were the only people eating in the restaurant as they had a very small dining room. They seemed to do a fairly brisk carry out as several people came in and took their order to go. We all ordered a 3 taco dinners, 2 pastor orders & 1 asada order. As usual the meals came w/rice & beans. No tortilla chips or salsa w/the meal. (Bummer) The woman that took our order was non existent after we placed the order. She disappeared into the back room & we had to call her to come back out. The sad part is that Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen. Unfortunately neither the food or the service was anything that would make us want us to come back. The tacos were dry w/very little seasoning, the corn tortillas were also dry & didn't seem very fresh. The beans were pretty good but the rice was bland. read more

The dining area is somewhat relatively small -- you can probably seat no more than 15 people comfortably there. it gives the vibe of a mostly togo place. There's a menu posted in the front and that is where you order. Once they take your order, sit down, and they'll bring the food to ya. I tried a few dishes here. Chips and guacamole were great. The guac had a great creamy-to-chunky ratio. With the cilantro, onions, and tomatoes, it was seasoned well. For the main dishes, I tried the steak fajitas and taco dinner. The taco dinner had three tacos, with you choice of meat. I went with chicken tinga, steak, and pastor. The pastor was my favorite, and the meat was seasoned perfectly and was very moist and tender. With both plates having rice and beans, it was a very tasty and satisfying meal. The service there was great and the younger girl that served the food and consistently asked if we were good, was very pleasant and endearing. BATHROOM REVIEW: At a glance, there is no bathroom. But I didn't want to disappoint my fellow Yelpers, so I asked. The bathroom they have was semi-public; you have to go through the big kitchen (the irony, as this place is called Little Kitchen). The bathroom is all the way in the back near the dishwashing area. A quick glance shows the kitchen itself to be clean and orderly. Inside, its really a one-person bathroom, quite small. Never been here before, but it's close, and I love these small restaurants. I thought it was going to be good- these kind of small "mom and pop" places I've found usually are, but wow. Delicious!! And so clean and friendly! The woman who took our order was so friendly and smiling, so sweet :) We got 2 taco plates, chips and guacamole as well as a horchata. I usually don't get horchata only because I've had bad luck; they've been really gritty. This was very smooth and delicious. Tasted like liquid rice pudding, perfect amount of cinnamon. The pork tacos are amazing, the rice super fluffy and beans creamy. The guacamole tasted so fresh and the green salsa is the right amount of spice. We waited a little long for our meal, but honestly I felt it was bc they were preparing it and it wasn't sitting out on a steam table. This spot is our go to place for Mexican food in Skokie. They honestly could be better for the amount they charge for their food items. Their steak is always overcooked, unseasoned and dry when I order their tacos. The chicken tinga flautas are good but could be better due to lack of flavor. Don't let the modest appearance fool you - the food here is really quite good and the service is excellent. I accidentally placed an order to be completed 45 minutes later and arrived just a few minutes after placing the order. They hopped on it right away and had it ready very quickly. Although the burrito price was a little higher than I'd usually pay, it was well-cooked and very good. Sometimes you get a burrito and it's cooked only partway through, leaving the cheese unmelted or the veggies still cold. This one came out just right, and the salsa was nicely spicy. read more

When we walked in we were kindly greeted by someone and she was patient with answering my questions about the menu. We ordered chips and guacamole. The guacamole was fresh and very tasty. We're in dire need of taquerias around here, so hello MLK, welcome to the 'hood! The restaurant opened 6 months ago in a space that formerly housed a Thai restaurant. It is a real mom-and-pop. Marcelina runs FOH, while her husband runs the kitchen. Not much in terms of decor and ambiance; it is your standard takeout place. They do have limited seating if you want to dine in. #TacoTuesdays isn't really a thing in this area, so thanks MLK for offering a deal ($2, any flavor) that no one else in the area offers (side note: if anyone knows of a good taco deal around here, let a sis know). I ordered the asada, pastor and shrimp. Each taco is served on 2 corn tortillas. The shrimp and asada were dressed with lettuce and tomatoes, while the pastor was dressed with onions and cilantro. They have homemade green and red salsas (green being the spicy one I think) that I heavily doused on my tacos. They offer different types of bevs like canned yerba mate, jarritos, Mexican coke and pre-made horchata that's stored in a big-sized plastic container in the fridge. They also have coffee machine in the dining area. I saw a container of Folgers so it's safe to assume that's what they use. They're overall decent, and I'd definitely come back again on a Tuesday. read more
