    Steak torta
    Melissa L.

I placed a to-go order from My Little Kitchen and tried the chicken tinga taco and the steak torta. The total came out to around $20 with tax, which felt a bit steep considering the portion sizes. The chicken tinga taco was flavorful and satisfying--definitely the highlight of the order. The steak torta, on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. While it had tasty elements like guacamole, grilled cheese, and jalapeños, it seriously lacked steak. For a steak torta, there was very little actual steak, and what was there got lost in the mix of everything else. That said, the flavor overall was solid. The red salsa had a nice kick and tied things together well. I'd consider giving them another try, but I'd hope for better value and balance in the ingredients next time.

We walked here. The place is darling. We started with chicken mole enchiladas. Now we're ordering chicken burritos . The staff are sweet as can be and it is authentic and cozy . Tiny place with 5 tables and can seat 14 people . Portions are normal . I prefer very large lol We will be back.

We had food from My Little Kitchen for a work event. All of the tacos were individually wrapped. I thought the beans were good, the guacamole was fresh and tasty. The shrimp (fried) tacos were good, with a nice amount of shrimp as well as the traditional onions and cilantro. The pastor tacos were ok, filled with a lot of meat although I found it dry. I thought each taco was a good portion. Overall I found the food tasty, although I would want to either eat in (sounds like it is a small place), or order a combination of food to go. I'll have to visit My Little Kitchen in person.

Chicken Enchiladas de Mole Poblano with Chicken and Rice and Beans. Side of Lettuce and tomato.

I wanted to like this spot more than I did. I have been looking for another Mexican restaurant for carryout- saw this had good reviews and was worth checking out. Its really tiny and located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. It has about 2-3 tables inside, but is really setup for carryout. We ordered a steak taco plate and chicken enchiladas with a side of tomato/lettuce. These dishes both came with rice and beans. The enchiladas are all mole sauce (no verde, red sauce etc) you are only able to choose the meat option, but cant mix and match meats like other places allow. The mole chicken enchilada itself was pretty good. The mole sauce has a deep slightly spicy flavor that goes well with the shredded chicken. I asked for extra cheese on top, which Im glad I did. I also added sour cream from my fridge when I got home as nothing was included. What completely fell short was the rice and beans. Main issue was lack of flavor and dry- So much so my boyfriend grabbed seasoning from the cabinet to add to it. Unfortunately, the pic looks better than how it actually tasted flavor wise. My boyfriend did say his steak tacos were good, but with all the mexican restaurant options in the chicagoland area I wouldnt go out of my way to go back. Overall experience 3/5.

Such an amazingly delicious hidden gem! Tinga tacos are so good, nor spicy which is how I prefer them. Super reasonable pricing and very sweet woman taking the orders and possibly cooking as well. Don't miss out on this place, it's no frills and limited seating but really solid mexican food that I will keep coming back for. You don't expect places like this to exist in the burbs but so glad I found it!

03/15/22 - My wife, brother in law & I were looking for a a Mexican restaurant (Taco Tuesday) to grab a bite to eat in the area near Old Orchard Theater as we were going to go there to see the new Batman movie. We found My Little Kitchen in a strip mall @ 4031 W Dempster Avenue in Skokie. We were the only people eating in the restaurant as they had a very small dining room. They seemed to do a fairly brisk carry out as several people came in and took their order to go. We all ordered a 3 taco dinners, 2 pastor orders & 1 asada order. As usual the meals came w/rice & beans. No tortilla chips or salsa w/the meal. (Bummer) The woman that took our order was non existent after we placed the order. She disappeared into the back room & we had to call her to come back out. The sad part is that Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen. Unfortunately neither the food or the service was anything that would make us want us to come back. The tacos were dry w/very little seasoning, the corn tortillas were also dry & didn't seem very fresh. The beans were pretty good but the rice was bland.

Amazing service, the owner is so sweet. The food is even better! Thank you for a great lunch, we will definitely be back! Oh, also very knowledgeable about gluten free! The tacos and nachos are both gluten free (and to die for).

My first thought was, "This is like Chipotle, if Chipotle was actually good," and I'm sticking with that. Perhaps that can be the new slogan for Guzman y Gomez. Run with it, put it on your bags and cups, just make sure to pay me back in free burritos. It's not exactly the same model as Chipotle. You don't watch the magic happen, so there's no opportunity to request a little more of this or a bit less of that. But the staff here are so eager to please, I always find I get exactly what I was looking for anyway. If you need a little more of anything, just ask, and they're happy to oblige. Plus, this place has so many more options than Chipotle, it's crazy. Better food, better atmosphere, just better overall. During my first visit, I had the pleasure of chatting with one of the chefs, Dustin, and I could hear the passion for cooking in how he spoke about this role here. He broke down all their vegan options for me and made sure my first burrito was an absolute hit. It's probably that first visit that got me hooked, so G y G is lucky to have a guy like him. Two vegan mayos, chipotle or herb, both delicious. Pulled shiitake mushroom, seasoned beautifully and cooked to order. Perfectly cooked rice, yummy fajita veggies, salsa options galore, it was all spot on. Super authentic Mexican? No, but that's ok. "Inspired by authentic Mexican food" is fine by me. And how'd they manage to get so many friendly employees? I've been here a half a dozen times, and everyone is so damn chipper and happy to help. Plus, the music is upbeat and fun, not some dreary corporate playlist. I actually *want* to eat in, which I rarely look forward to in a fast food spot. I'm loving it. There are times when you just need something satisfying and fast that doesn't break the bank. This place brings that energy via fresh ingredients prepared with expertise. Plus, as I said, Chipotle is garbage. I'm glad Guzman y Gomez decided to pop up in Evanston.

They charge extra for sour cream, but have three salsas in dispensers out by the drinks dispenser, along with onions, cilantro, and sliced jalapenos, and they give you a few tortilla chips with your bowl. Overall, not a bad deal. The chicken was well-cooked. The green salsa was a tad spicier than I'm used to, and the chipotle salsa was a little milder than I expected. Bathroom was clean. On a Thursday evening, the place was fairly crowded, but seating was still available. I'd go again.

I…read morehonestly thought, "That's surprising!" because I've eaten there many times before and always had a great experience. Unfortunately, after going back last night, I can understand some of the reviews. Hear me out... First, the atmosphere was a little chaotic. Dishes kept being dropped and shattered throughout the restaurant. We were jumping every few minutes waiting for someone to yell "OPA!"... except this isn't a Greek restaurant. Not sure what was happening, but it definitely took away from the relaxing dinner vibe. As for the food and service, this is where I was most disappointed. I used to think the prices matched the quality, but this time the value just wasn't there. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas, which used to come loaded with onions and peppers. This time, there were only onions, a few pieces of steak, and mostly chicken. Our waitress also forgot the flour tortillas and the toppings, and we had to repeatedly ask for things throughout the meal. Unfortunately, each item took quite a while to arrive, and by the time the toppings came out, I was pretty much finished eating. We never got pico either, and at that point I didn't even bother asking because dinner was basically over. We also asked for more chips and salsa, which took a while to arrive as well. The food itself still tastes good, and that's what makes this disappointing. But when a dinner out requires me to keep reminding the restaurant what needs to come to the table, my family might as well have stayed home. At least there would have been no interruptions--and I would have been the one bringing out the meal anyway! I really hope this was just an off night because I have enjoyed Uncle Julio's for years. But for now, I'm not sure we'll be rushing back.

Who are these people giving this place high ratings?!…read more Jose's Hacienda is located on the 3rd floor in a business building, located between Westfield Old Orchard and Niles North. The building is definitely outdated, and we really enjoyed the old school elevator! The place is very bare bones, and the eatery seemed to be in the building's mail room. The menu offers breakfast items salads, tacos, tortas, burritos, wraps, and chimichangas. We came here for a late lunch, and not sure if there even was a lunch rush, but the staff were already cleaning up to close and no other patrons were on site. We made sure that they were still open, and after redoing a hard yes, we ordered: +a carnitas taco +an al pastor taco +a carne asada taco +and, a carne asada burrito It was probably one of the worst Mexican eateries we've been to, ever. The tacos, in which they looked appetizing, were just not great. The carnitas that we had ordered was some type of an ofal-like protein and was disgusting. They sefinitely got the order incorrect. I wanted to try their chimichanga, but they stated the fryer wasn't working - I'm thinking they already had it turned off for the day and didn't want to start it back up. The burrito itself was awful - it was not even rolled correct and was so loose - it was 75%-80% shredded lettuce, and the bits of carne asada had mostly fat and cartilage. The burrito was also dripping with liquid, most likely from the tomatoes or some weird watered sauce that was drizzled inside. The salsas were fine, but didn't help the food at all. Also, nothing was temperature hot, as it was all lukewarm. You can tell that even reheating things properly wasn't going to happen here. Unfortunately, we lost our appetite quickly, and all the items were tossed. There is a menu up at the counter, and a soda vending machine that seemed to have been unplugged; there was a refrigerator off to the side for a limited selection of drinks. Staff were friendly. The place closes at 3 PM, but should just close at 12:30/1 PM.
