I have known the owner of this restaurant for almost 17 years and have always ranted and raved about his food. today's visit after many years did not disappoint. his middle Eastern cuisine is to die for made with love. the best pressed falafel sandwich I've ever eaten dipped in all the amazing sides. made me smile today

Amazing service, will be coming back here. Got a coconut with piña colada in it and it was fantastic.

Our breakfast was a wonderful experience. Ambiance seating outside was a treat. Really enjoyed our French toast and omelette. The experience was enhanced by our server who was a delight and set the tone for the day ahead. No doubt we will return

    Chocolate and pistachio crepe

This place is a tiny, super casual, mom-and-pop, Middle Eastern place in the beach block of Pompano Beach. Abd El Salam is a great chef who will adjust the menu to meet your expectations. He made a chocolate and pistachio crepe for me!

We were in Pompano and decided to grab some lunch by the beach. We parked in the lot behind and walked along the strip of restaurants. We hadn't been here before so we decided to try it. It's a small place with several tables inside and more on the outside sidewalk. As the doors were open, it was nice that they had blowing fans inside to stay cool. My husband ordered a tuna salad pita wrap. He said it wasn't middle eastern, but that the tuna itself was pretty good. There was lettuce inside the thin wrap. Some well done french fries came as a side. The fries were good, too. I got their hummus topped with meat. I'd asked for lamb assuming it would be pieces of meat, but it was well cooked gyro slices. I liked the creamy hummus, but some of the meat was way over cooked. Their pita is the very paper thin kind which is not my favorite. The server (who also was the tout standing outside to entice people to try the place) was funny -- dancing a bit like a belly dancer to entertain us. He is Egyptian. The chef/owner (?) is Jordanian-American. The menu has sandwiches to entrees. Depending on what you order, you can find a reasonably priced meal. I'm glad we came to try this place. Now we know.

The ambiance, service and food were all perfect. We ordered the French crepes (new menu item) and they were delicious! Del, the chef came out to check in with us. He was kind and knowledgeable. Ally, our server was patient and the perfect server for us. I didn't try a smoothie, but they looked so good, might have to come back later for one, or. Pina colada served in a pineapple! For a location that is steps from the beach, the pricing was reasonable and we couldn't be happier with the experience overall. I think we may have to come back for lunch.

Nice location and friendly staff but the food was 1) not what I ordered and 2) not very good regardless. I won't be coming back.

The first thing we noticed, which was a bit unexpected, was the decor. The ambiance was really nice and inviting. This is the type of restaurant where someone could host a party. The service was really good too. We received water almost immediately after being seated, and our server came by shortly after. The manager stopped by throughout our visit to provide recommendations, and he was really nice. It made the experience feel more personal. For our appetizer, we ordered the Baba Ghannouj, which complemented the pita bread really well. It was our first time having it, and we did not know what to expect, but it was great. It was really flavorful, and we finished it wanting more. For our entrees, we had the Lamb Chops and the Seafood Tagine. The lamb chops were great. It was not a huge portion, but the meat was flavorful and cooked well. The presentation was also really nice. The Seafood Tagine looked great, and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. Everything about the dish worked well together, and we felt that all the flavors complemented one another. There was a good harmony between the ingredients. For dessert, we ordered the Kunafa, which was another first for us. We had never had it before, but the description really sold us on it. It was really good. This is the kind of dessert that is best shared since it is a little heavy. Toward the end of our visit, a belly dancer came out to perform, and it was really exciting. La Vie is a great restaurant, and we will definitely return. We felt as though we got a true Mediterranean experience during our visit.

We started with batata harra and cheese bulak. Both were great! The potatoes in the batata harra were very well seasoned and flavorful. The cheese bulak was good but might be a little off putting if your not use to mintiness in your cheese. A belly dancer came out and went around to all the tables and really engaged with everyone. For our entrees we got chicken tagine and lamb chops. I must say the lamb chops were phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. I definitely recommend getting them medium. All in all if you're looking for something different definitely go check it out!

My server was super knowledgeable; I appreciated his suggestions and his desire to ensure I enjoyed everything I ate/drank. The food was amazingly good. The fresh pita bread with the classic hummus (best I've had) was a total win, add the pepper jelly like condiment to it created a kaleidoscope of flavors in my mouth. I literally wanted to sit there the whole night and just eat that. Eventually I added Whole Branzino and Summer salad. Tried the special 'bitter' cocktails, they were very good but not my favorite; I'll have to acquire that taste some more. Returning in a couple weeks. Can't wait! Hoping they have the pistachio cheesecake.

When we do, they sat us in a separate room, with a long table (obviously reserved for large parties) and sat us right in the middle of other two groups. We asked to be seated at another table. 10 minutes passed, they came and got us for our new table... nope, same one. At this point we've been there for 45 minutes, so we just sat. It was hard to maintain a conversation with how loud the place is. After another 10 minutes, our server came to tell us how busy she was and that she would be with us as soon as she closed some tables. That really did not sit well with us, after the start we had already. Thankfully another server came and took our order. We ordered a wine from Spain, when the server came they had the wrong one. He went to changed it, and while he was doing that, they brought us another table's one. We told them they were mistaken again. Finally we got the correct one. After all this, things started to look up. The stars this place has is definitely because of their food. I can't say anything bad about it. We had appetizers, entrees, desserts, all excellent. And once the staff got in a flow with our table the night got better. It is unfortunate the start wasn't good, and we weren't able to get a good table as we were celebrating a special occasion and hard to do so sharing it with others. I still would recommend Motek for their delicious food, and beautiful décor.
