I didn't prepare well for this review. I was in this shopping center (on the corner of 151st at Interstate 69) and happened to see this small place, but after grabbing something to go, I felt a duty to tell everyone how good it is! I ran in and got a sesame falafel bowl. I got rice as my base and added hummus, tahini, Taziki, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, feta, and olives, I think it may be the best falafel I've ever had!!! It's definitely one of the best! The sesame on top (and I believe there was sesame oil involved too) was amazing! There was a bit of heat to the falafel and it made it delicious. Not too hot but a little kick. The flavor was incredible and they were cooked perfectly. Fluffy inside and crispy on the outside! I did manage to take one picture of my bowl! It's a small place but has several tables to sit inside. You order and pick up at the counter. It was very clean and had a nice, cozy, easy going vibe. They don't have a large menu but still quite a few great choices. I want to try some of their other dishes but it's going to be very difficult to not order the sesame falafel. You can also order just 5 sesame falafel. I imagine there will never be a time that I go to Falafel Express and not have sesame falafel even if I get it as an extra! A smaller restaurant in South OP but full of warmth and delicious food. They have a rotisserie spit with fresh slices of protein. I had a variety of items including the Arabic Chicken Shawarma and gyro and hummus. The ingredients are fresh and they have lots of different sauces for every taste bud. Along with food I got their saffron cake which was absolutely delicious. I could eat multiple of this in one sitting! Everything came out delicious and had a nice, subtle fire roasted taste to the food. The drinks are also refreshing. The vimto lemonade stood out and the mango shake was refreshing. A great little neighborhood Mediterranean place. Don't come out of your way to visit, but if you're in the area, it's worth a try. The service is fast and friendly, the menu items are generally solid, and the portions are comparable or better to any other local Mediterranean restaurant in the KC metro. The prices are fine but not outstanding the way some reviews say they are. Maybe the prices were better at some point, but not anymore. A meal for one person will run you about $16+, which is typical for a joint like this in Overland Park. I would definitely recommend the Arabi-style beef and lamb shawarma (super juicy and flavorful) and the kabobs, as well as their hummus and baba ganoush. Skip the gyro--the meat in the Gyro Bowl is dry and scrappy, like the meat has been cut awhile back--and consider getting dessert elsewhere. The Saffron Cake isn't bad, but it's very reminiscent of birthday sheet cake / funfetti. read more

Stick price shock is real post COVID... I remember single dollar sign restaurants being cheaper... but everything is about twice as expensive as before and when you think of what you would get at a fast food restaurant this place blows them all out of the water. The service was a highlight. Multiple people asked me if I needed anything. Very willing to assist. The meals are large enough to split between young kids, and large enough to fill you if you haven't skipped a meal. The music playing puts you in a middle east mindset. This was such a hike from downtown which I'm mad about because the falafel was so good! Tried this spot as a part of the Pitch Sandwich Week so it was half off which was a great deal.
