I have been to Hummus and Pita a couple of times. My last visit was to satisfy my craving for lamb. I got the beef and lamb cheeseburger, it had lettuce, tomato, red onion, and mayonnaise. I also got the combo which included fries and a can of soda. The fries were hot, salty and flavorful. My burger was extremely messy as it had way too much mayonnaise on the burger. Also felt that the patty was a little on the salty side, but may have been just over seasoned. All the other menu items I would strongly recommend especially their home made hummus.

Cool dining room.

In one visit, I'm already a huge fan of Hummus and Pita! A while back, we dined at the Ethiopian place across the street and I saw Hummus and Pita and bookmarked it to return. I saw that Steve D was FTR (of course) and liked it a lot. I pretty much grew up eating Lebanese food at least weekly and love all Middle Eastern cuisine. The owner here is from Jordan. The food here is exquisite! We started with the delicious and beautiful presented tahini heavy hummus. We prefer tahini forward hummus to lemon or garlic heavy versions and this is perfection. The pita was served very hot and fresh. The olive oil and special little jalapeño blend are chef's kiss good. The tabouli here is great! Wonderfully proportioned and fresh daily. I can tell it's not been sitting around. Everything here is halal. I love that. It's better and higher quality. Healthier. It's a beautiful restaurant too! So clean, cute and cozy. My wife had the gyro plate and they let us sub a salad for fries. She loved it! The tzatziki sauce was perfect; chunky chopped cucumber was amazing. I had the beef shawarma. It was perfect. No notes. I've only had one better in my life. I can't wait to have another here!! I highly recommend Hummus and Pita! Wow!!!

Based on my earlier amazing experience, I placed a small catering order for 4 portions of falafel. I was told when I had called before that it's better to place any type (big or small) catering orders in advance, so I called the day before 24 hours ahead and confirmed pickup for 4 PM. On the day of pickup, I called at 4:03 to let them know I was on the way, but each time the call went straight to voicemail. I reached at 4:23, only to find that my order wasn't ready. The person at the front counter was a bit impolite and said I was 23 minutes late, and that they only make the food once the customer arrives because "he doesn't want his food to get bad attention" and that those falafel just have to go in to the fryer and wouldn't take much time. That reasoning made no sense to me. If I'm placing a catering or to‑go order, the whole point is that it should be ready when I arrive and rather I gave them 23 extra minutes to keep it ready. Otherwise, I could have just ordered at the restaurant instead of planning a pickup!!! In the end, I waited another 14 minutes. This delay pushed back my other last min errands, and my guests ended up arriving before I could get home. What made it worse was the attitude the restaurant showed .. basically "take it or leave it"with no care at all about my time. I would have liked if they could have made this clear on the call previously that they would make the order when I arrive to keep it fresh and then I would have planned my day likewise and not to place small catering orders 24 hours in advance!!! For me, customer service matters just as much as the food. I am not complaining about the food quality at all. Other than owning up to their mistake if they had forgotten, they displayed a "do not care" attitude to protect the quality of their food. Sadly, this experience made me feel bad and ruined the rest of my day. I would definitely visit the restaurant but never place any catering orders going forward.

The staff was SO friendly and welcoming. We told them it was our first time and they offered a sample and help with the menu. We tried the beef plate and gyro, both were amazing. It was order at the counter and find a seat. We had no problem getting a seat at 7:30 on a Friday. It was very clean and staff checked in often.

In downtown Overland Park, a visit to a hidden gem Hummus & Pita, a Mediterranean restaurant, proved to be a wonderful experience, highlighted by a leisurely 3-hour lunch with Pam. The food was not only flavorful but also reasonably priced, with a menu full of appetizers, salads, soups, wraps, sandwiches, and desserts. The chicken kebab plate I selected was very flavorful with rice, well-prepared seasoned roasted vegetables and a side of tzatziki sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The Pistachio Baklava dessert was a delightful conclusion, enjoyed immediately rather than being saved for later with coffee as originally planned. We were greeted as we walked in, and was given a sample of hummus to try . The atmosphere is very quiet, cozy very relaxing place to visit. So next time you're in downtown Overland Park stop into Hummus & Pita 8039 Santa Fe Overland Park, Kansas Monday-Thursday 11 AM to 7:40 PM Friday and Saturday 11 AM to 8:40 PM Sunday 12:00pm-6:40 PM

Excellent food made with heart, soul, grit, and love for the cuisine. Everything tasted so clean and fresh. The real baba ghanoush and regular baba ghanoush were amazing. This place is a real gem.

If you're looking for authentic and delicious Mediterranean food in the Kansas City area, Hummus in Pita in Downtown Overland Park is a must-visit! From the moment we walked in, the cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff made the experience feel warm and inviting. We started with appetizers--of course, their house-made hummus and pita (some of the BEST I've ever had), a refreshing Fattoush salad, and flavorful, crispy kibbeh. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. For mains, we sampled a little bit of everything: * The roasted garlic butter half chicken with rice was juicy and packed with flavor * The loaded shawarma fries were indulgent and so satisfying * The Gyro Hero was freshly made and delicious * And the mixed kebab platter gave us a great taste of their grilled specialties--every bite was amazing! We couldn't leave without dessert, and I'm so glad we didn't. The baklava was flaky and perfectly sweet, but the real show-stoppers were the Date Shake (so smooth and rich!) and their newest dessert, "Date Me Sweetly"--a heavenly mix of ice cream, baklava, and date. Absolutely divine! Overall, Hummus in Pita is a hidden gem serving up fresh, flavorful Mediterranean fare that hits the spot. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's definitely worth checking out! Follow me on Instagram and TikTok to see full video of my experience - NEYAN VENTURES

We found this thanks to TikTok. It was soooo good. The place and its decorations are super cute. Our group had: Gummus (spice gyro meat with hummus), Halloumi Sticks, Chicken Shawarma, Falafel, Arayes, and a date shake. We loved everything. My husband mentioned to the guy up front that if he had room at the end he was coming back for a date shake. When he eventually went back to order it there guy had it already made and said, "I knew you'd be back." Mind blown. I definitely think you should go

The food was very good, and one could almost imagine it was home cooked using family recipes, which it probably was. The service was excellent. The ambience was good. We will definitely go back. (For those long familiar with Downtown OP, Hummus and Pita occupies the space formerly the home of The Snack Shack. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.)

I'm a big Mediterranean foodie and when I saw this driving around downtown OP I knew j had to stop by. When I was greeted I was met with a delicious sample of their homemade hummus. Honestly, this was probably some of the best hummus that I've tried around Overland Park. I also got to try their Shawarma wrap and their traditional gyro. I loved the wrap, but I was not a fan of the pickles so next time I would probably ask for no pickles. The gyro was so overfilled I couldn't fit it all in one bite, definitely worth your money! They also have a few options for dessert that I'll have to check out next time because I ate WAY too much. Overall I absolutely loved my visit and can't wait to come back for dessert and to grab some more of that homemade hummus!

Great food and great hospitality! This one has been on my list for a while because of its great location. I drive past it all the time but finally decided to stop in and I was not disappointed! The location is adorable right next to the park in downtown op. Perfect for a casual date night complete with a walk around the park after. The staff was very nice and even let us sample some hummus before ordering. I tried the baba ganoush for an app and it was delicious! I then dug into a wrap and a gyro. They were both amazing! Next time I think I would try the gyro plate because I am a messy eater and it would be easier to dig into than a typical gyro. I will definitely be back to enjoy more fantastic hummus and try out some new things!

Great cute place! Food good with indoor and some outdoor seating. The hummus was arranged so beautifully The steak I would have liked larger pieces but it was excellent

I had the chicken shawarma plate and it was very tasty! The staff was very welcoming & lets you try a sample of their hummus before ordering.

If we were at home and not in public, I would've licked both these plates clean! Hahahahaha

Chicken Gyro (no tzatziki) - Large, well-grilled pita with tomatoes. Simple and solid--this is why we came. It delivered for her--she was in a full-on food coma after. (4/5) Beef/Lamb Gyro - Enormous--one of the biggest I've had. Nice grilled crust on the pita, tasty meat. (4/5) Wish it came with diced onions, and the tomatoes were diced instead of sliced. Tzatziki is a bit thinner and slightly off from what I'm used to. But on mine, there was some on the sandwich and a side--hadn't seen that before. It actually worked well, kept the meat moist--without making it mushy--and let me add more as needed. Added sambal for heat, which helped. Kebab Platter - Mixed bag. Steak kebab was solid (medium rare), minced kebab was decent (in between), chicken was just okay. Rice was very dry--I think I noticed some sumac on top, but either way it didn't help. The salad was excellent--fresh with a lot of pop. Not something I'd order again, but if I did, I'd eat the salad with the rice and kebabs instead of starting with it. It adds the moisture and pop the rest of the plate is missing. That said, each component should stand on its own. (3/5) Overall: 4/5 Gyros carry. Salad and steak kebab were nice, but the platter didn't land. I'd stick to gyros or just do a steak kebab plate next time.

Cold dolmas can be wonderful but not when they're essentially frozen. The grape leaves were so cold that the bed of half-wilted lettuce underneath turned into ice! Not to mention the thin, tiny size of them! Unfortunately, these were some of the worst stuffed grape leaves I've had. On the other hand, the chicken kabob wrap was excellent! I loved the pairing of the sauces as well. Great taste, nice presentation -- this item carried the experience. I definitely recommend this dish. Food: 3.5/5 Price: 4/5 Experience: 4/5

The server was knowledgeable about which dishes to try and they recommended the beet pkhali dip so I had to give that a try. That Georgian beet dip was super good that I would order seconds. The classic hummus dip with flatbread was yummy too. The kebab platter with jujeh kabob, koobideh kabob, and adana kabob was the star of the show since all kebabs were flavorful and tender. The Persian butter rice was fire and one of the best rice dishes I've ever eaten to the point that I would eat it every day for the rest of my life. The only downsides are that it's not open during lunch and it's expensive but it's worth it. Overall, I would definitely return to this restaurant whenever I'm back in KC and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting KC. It was definitely worth about a three hour drive from Wichita and I don't regret it. It's easily one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in KC and probably my entire life.

Our waitress was a sweetheart and offered drinks and apps right away. Such a cozy vibe here, it was easy to just cuddle down in the mismatched chairs and follow along. The drinks were served and they were strong and delicious. After visiting Istanbul at the start of summer, I was ready for the taste again. We ordered the pizza and the short ribs. Well, I actually ordered the lamb, but they were out of it. We also ordered the Greek Salad. The salad came first and we shared it. With the fresh veggies and warm bread, it was a great start. The pizza and the ribs came staggered. Not a deal, but I did wait on my entree while my husband ate. In the end, I stole a piece of pizza cause it looked so good. The Turkish sausage was exactly how I remembered. Yum! My short ribs came later and I repaid my husband the favor of sharing, which only left me 3 pieces of meat (started with 4 pieces). This entree is no doubt amazingly cooked, but at $30, it's a bit expensive for my liking and hardly worth the price. I could've used some salt or something also. I don't know, this one went a little south for me. Overall, cute date night spot and friendly service. I would definitely give it another try.
