Basha Mediterranean Cuisine 7016 W 105th St, Overland Park, KS 66212 We recently visited Basha Mediterranean Cuisine in Overland Park and were truly impressed. If you're craving authentic Mediterranean flavors with a modern touch, this cozy spot is a must-try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautiful Greek-inspired details that make you feel like you've stepped into a little Mediterranean getaway.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with a few refreshing drinks strawberry lemonade, lavender lemonade, a mango smoothie, and a strawberry smoothie. Not only were they beautifully presented, but they were also incredibly fresh and flavorful. For appetizers, we ordered the hummus served with warm, fresh pita, along with falafel and kibbeh. Everything was made perfectly the hummus was smooth and creamy, the falafel crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the kibbeh packed with flavor. They also offer several great vegetarian options, which is always a plus. For our entrées, we shared the mixed grill, which was perfect for sampling a little of everything: rice, gyro meat, kefta kabob, and juicy chicken skewers, all cooked beautifully and well-seasoned. We also tried the grilled tilapia, which was fresh, light, and seasoned just right. Overall, the food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere made the experience even better. Service was very friendly We'll definitely be back and highly recommend adding Basha Mediterranean Cuisine to your must-try list in the Kansas City area. We haven't been here for a while so we decided to go for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since the last time we went, the restaurant had been updated and looks brighter and fresher in appearance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner who we know of from another Mediterranean restaurant he worked at years ago, stopped by and we visited for a bit. The service is friendly and welcoming but the server could have done better to remove our finished dishes that we had stacked at the end of the table until we left. I also asked that no pita be on the plate because I have celiac and it was on the plate when it arrived. The food is excellent, very fresh and flavorful. The prices are actually more affordable than previously also. We would definitely come back.

The owner is gracious and helpful. Food was delicious and served quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean and great atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Basha is one of our favorite Mediterranean restaurants. The food, service and ambience is very welcoming. The hummus is whipped to creamy perfection. The rice is fragrant and fluffy, each grain seasoned to perfection. The meats are tender and juicy. Their rice pudding dessert is a treat if you still have room. Their portions are generous. And I'm a fan of their flavored lemonade too.

My frst review since ownership change!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Interior is unchanged.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was as fast and pleasant as always. And I'm happy to report that the chicken shawarma is as delicious as ever. The pita bread was fresh and the hummus was wonderfully smooth and tasty. A little constructive feedback: I'd much prefer separate plates for lunch. 1st plate for the salad, pita and hummus 2nd plate for rice and meat Today my salad was half buried under my rice which meant it was hot and soggy by the time I dug it out. The kunafa is a wonderful dessert, go ahead be adventurous and order something other than baklava!

I love Mediterranean food and stumbled upon this restaurant, so had to try. They've been in this location at Metcalf 103 for the last 12 years, per the owner. She came to our table to chat, sharing the restaurant serves mostly Egyptian style foods, those loved by her Egyptian husband. She was more enthusiastic and appreciated than the original server who could barely keep up with refilling our water. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior could use some serious updates. It was dark and outdated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Had it not been so hot, we could've eaten outside in the courtyard of the building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was ok, not outstanding. The pita seemed to have been thawed from frozen. The schwarma was decent. Had a kenafa for dessert which was truly delicious. I'm glad I gave it a try but will probably not add to my regular rotations.

The way I gasped when I opened up the creamy chicken curry order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was already dismayed that the outside of the restaurant smelled like raw sewage when we pulled up to pick up our to go order[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but when I went inside and there was loud talking but not a single person was visible or ever came to the door to greet me, I knew this would be a negative experience. Eventually I saw the signage that indicated that there was a takeout shelf to the right behind the counter. The bag felt light for nearly $50 worth of food before our 20% tip but when we got home, we couldn't believe what we saw. The $5 a cup lentil soup was like the dregs of one soup, split into two cups that they then watered down to fill 2/3 up. They looked like two different soups, if we could even call it that. For $20, the chicken shawarma was overpriced. The salad it came with was extremely sad. The hummus, was anger inducing. See the red sauce on it? You know how usually you get a drizzle of olive oil? Not here. The red was FRANKS RED HOT SAUCE. The creamy curry chicken for $20 is criminal. It was barely flavored with curry and to fill up only half a styrofoam box with it and nothing else, not a side salad, nothing was insulting. It wasn't good enough to justify that price. Both dishes had dried, hard rice. The chicken was dry. The highlight of the food we had was actually the garlic sauce--sufficiently garlicky. The pita that came with the meal was bloated by steam. I couldn't recommend going here, even if it was the only Mediterranean restaurant in the entire state.

Yesterday afternoon we went thrift shopping at Blessings Abound when we spotted this place. We walked over after reading some good reviews. When we walked in we thought they were closed. My dad warned me about places that didn't have any people eating there. There was another couple sitting but otherwise it was empty. The hostess (not sure if she's the owner) greeted us and walked us over to the booth. The inside was really clean looking and the music set the vibe. The person that sat us was nice and after a few minutes came over to take our order. We ordered the chicken shawarma dinner plate, my husband ordered hummus and pita and my daughter was craving dessert. We also ordered a hibiscus drink and a mango juice. Let's start off with the hummus... Yikes! I've never had it so watery and we were really confused by the big glob of sauce in the middle. We weren't sure if it's Tabasco or Buffalo sauce. The pita was okay. The hibiscus tasted good almost like traditional Mexican Jamaica but more sweeter. The mango juice tasted like it was from the store like simply mango. My daughter ordered the Lebanese night and she liked it. It tasted like something we've had before. The rose water infusion makes it taste flowery but it wasn't bad. I ordered an order of fries for the table and omg. We called these chicken fries. How on earth do you get a deep fried chicken taste into fries?! Anyways they smelled like fried chicken and tasted just as bad. Let's move on to the good. The rice had a nice flavor to it and it complimented the chicken shawarma. The chicken was flavorful and not dry at all. The only thing I didn't like on that plate was the garlic sauce. It really tasted like they took mayo and added dill to it. Overall for the price and quality of the food we don't be coming back.

The best Mediterranean food I've had! Very flavorful, fresh and delicious. I ordered lunch to go. It was prepared fresh and quickly. Friendly staff too!

Chicken Gyro (no tzatziki) - Large, well-grilled pita with tomatoes. Simple and solid--this is why we came. It delivered for her--she was in a full-on food coma after. (4/5) Beef/Lamb Gyro - Enormous--one of the biggest I've had. Nice grilled crust on the pita, tasty meat. (4/5) Wish it came with diced onions, and the tomatoes were diced instead of sliced. Tzatziki is a bit thinner and slightly off from what I'm used to. But on mine, there was some on the sandwich and a side--hadn't seen that before. It actually worked well, kept the meat moist--without making it mushy--and let me add more as needed. Added sambal for heat, which helped. Kebab Platter - Mixed bag. Steak kebab was solid (medium rare), minced kebab was decent (in between), chicken was just okay. Rice was very dry--I think I noticed some sumac on top, but either way it didn't help. The salad was excellent--fresh with a lot of pop. Not something I'd order again, but if I did, I'd eat the salad with the rice and kebabs instead of starting with it. It adds the moisture and pop the rest of the plate is missing. That said, each component should stand on its own. (3/5) Overall: 4/5 Gyros carry. Salad and steak kebab were nice, but the platter didn't land. I'd stick to gyros or just do a steak kebab plate next time.
