I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted to like your food. You are such a hard-working owner and I respect you greatly for having a small business in a tough economy, especially in Seattle, where it's especially tough to earn enough money to survive here. My colleagues have been going here for months and have had nothing but great things to say, and I always balked at spending the money since you're pretty pricy, but was finally like, "let's do this! I'll spend $15 with tax + tip on a salad!" Then reality set in and I had supreme salad regret enveloped in a shroud of sadness since it was basically like I was eating shredded up dollar bills upon first look. I opened the box at the office, and, to my dismay, there was minimal lettuce and tomato, a few onions, a bunch of wetness (drained into the sink...water? oil? who knows...) and 3 small blackened falafel balls that I broke a plastic knife trying to cut...and a plastic fork trying to eat. It smelled so good (SO MUCH GARLIC!) but was such a disappointment I ended up making a microwaved veggie dog for lunch. While not for me, I appreciate what you're doing. read more

Husband and I were at the Pike's Place for the Yelp Elite Event last night, got a little hungry so we decided to grab a quick bite. Stumbled upon Falafel King, a small run down Yacob-owned restaurant. Checked Yelp to see what others had to say about this. Turns out it wasn't a 4/5 star establishment. Oh well, what the funk, we decided to give it a go. My husband who has been going vegetarian for the past week decided he orders the same menu item as me, BEEF SHAWARMA! As I was busy taking a picture of my food, he munched down almost half of that humongous plate!! He said that's the best Mediterranean food he's ever had to date!! So here I am, digging into my first bite, still piping hot, "dayummmmm" is all I could say back to him! He ordered the baklava and Pom&Orange Sanpellegrino for his desserts, said it was delish!! This place is in a prime location for tourists to try out right by Pike Place Market. I got their gyro. The flavors were amazing and had plenty of meat. My bf got the shawarma plate and the rice was so flavorful. It also had large portions. Best gyro I've had in Seattle by far. Their fries looked really good. Definitely a must try when I go back. They are open on Sunday's. I don't think their Yelp page has been updated. I'd highly recommend this place! read more

Walked in to try gyros 3.5 is what this location deserves. The location itself is dirty looking and old. Not my favorite place to sit and have my lunch. The place is ran by one person and that makes it interesting. He cooks and tends the resister all alone. He is a very nice gentlemen. The portion of gyro is generous and it's is mostly meet. Lettuce was weird for me as it was very little and hard pieces. Definitely not enough sauce. The meat was on the drier side for me, and it was spicy. The worst food ever (felafel and shish tawook). The guy is not from the Middle East he is from Eritrea /Africa the spices used are more like Indian spices/ curry . The falafel sandwiches had no felafel in them maybe one piece of felafel for a big pita bread filled with tahini, garlic, and lettuce .My kids left the food as it is the chicken taouk tasted bad and very spicy . The 49$ I paid doesn't match the quality of food that was given to us. Complete waste of money! I give him a zero on the review and never recommend it to anyone . Not gonna lie, it's pretty messed up that this place has only 3.5 stars as of my writing. This is one of my most common lunch spots as it's a quick jaunt from my office. In the market: check. There is good aspects and not to good aspects to this little spot right off Pike and First. I really wanted to like this spot but it left me quite dissatisfied in terms of the entree. The chicken shawarma was very bland and I definitely needed more tahini or extra sauce to truly get any flavor. I can't say about the other meats but the chicken seemed boiled. So that's the negative. The positives of this place is that the hummus and garlic sauce (I got large) were absolutely delish and well balanced! MUST TRY! The service was straightforward, there was one gentleman who was doing everything and kept it going. I waited for 10 mins after I placed my order to get it. Tourist review I'm originally from Los Angeles and decided to visit Seattle. Well as we walked the gum wall, took pictures at the fish market, and rode lime bikes we got hungry. We parked at Pyramid brewing and took bikes up to the fish market. Which if you don't have an electric bike then don't do it on a regular one cause I was dying. So many hills. Well on to the actual review. The food was really good. We got the chicken kabobs with rice and salad. It was really good. Flavoring, perfectly cooked all around. They also serve ALCOHOL. The chicken shawarma plate is the best thing there! It's really flavorful and spicy, with the perfect ratio of chicken and rice and salad. I also like getting the combo plate (chicken + lamb), they give huge portion sizes. I have to get this at least once a month! The location is really small. He took me to this spot, where he said he has been hooked ever since he first tried the chicken shawarma. He ordered that again, and I tried the falafel plate. That's a big step for me, as I enjoy meat with the best of them. For both dishes and two bottles of water, it was $15 even. Not bad. I'm not a falafel expert, but this was delicious. Nice crisp, spicy flavor, with plenty of rice to spare, and a nice potent white sauce on top. Either it's tzatziki sauce, or some sort of garlic dressing. Either way It was delicious, and it also included some hummus on the side, along with a side salad. A great value, IMO. The food was so tasty, it wanted to remind me all damn day how good it was. You know how that cloud of dirt follows Pig Pen? A cloud of garlic will follow you after eating at this place. A group of us came here after scouring the market place to look for an eatery that would allow one small poodle to dine with us on their patio. We ordered shwarmas, falafel, & shish tawook from the on-man show. They had cans of San Pelligrino flavored sodas and I got myself an orange one. It turned out to be a perfect drink to offset my garlic-drowned shish chicken tawook. He was out of rice so he served the chicken on a bed of lettuce with a side of hummus. I also ordered a side of babah ganoush which was probably the most tame yet still flavorful of all the foods I had downed. The dressing on the salad was yummy if you like cream-based herb-y dressings. All in all, the food would have been a lot better if the garlic had been toned down like a lot. I mean I love garlic, but this was overkill even amongst what you get at The Stinking Rose. This was my first middle eastern adventure in Seattle. I hope there's better than this because I don't see myself returning here. This repelling cloud kinda sucks. read more

Walked by this place for years as you can smell what they be cooking up. Small place but my coworker and I were able to enjoy our lunch sitting outside watching the gentlemen folk go in & out of Deja Vu across the street. Anyways, food was a solid 3 star in my opinon, I got the chicken shawarma plate, had plenty of sauce, rice was ok, chicken was ok. But so much garlic flavor, I like garlic just like anyone else but lord have mercy.....all I tasted for the rest of the day was garlic. I even have a toothbrush & toothpaste at my desk, yea, I brushed my teeth afterwards. Comes with a little side salad and the portion was pretty huge and pricing was fine. My coworker got the falafel pita, he liked it, nicely fried and good size and enjoyed the pita.
