Updating my review to rave about our recent service. Joined by my bestie and her husband who drove all the way from Denver to see us, my partner and I returned to The Blind Horse for a birthday dinner. My bestie is SEVERELY allergic to poultry and her husband was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease which means gluten is no good (even "cross contamination"). This makes finding a restaurant that can accommodate their needs a huge challenge. Our server went out of her way to talk to the chef and check things out. They were able to accommodate these specific diets and still beautifully create their entrees. It has been horrible to adjust life with Celiac, so when the food came out, I really thought there might be some tears of joy. ;) This gave us more reasons to come back! Thank you! read more

I made a reservation a week in advance for a Wednesday night 5 pm dinner. When we arrived, we were confused on where to go. We saw there were little signs by the doors that tell you what building is what. Once inside, we were seated immediately. Our waitress got us drinks within a minute of sitting down. I think her name was Ella or Ellie- she was very good. Knew when to come over and when to not come over. I ordered the lobster cargot for an appetizer - it didn't have much taste so I would pass on this in the future. The corn chowder was amazing !!!! Very flavorful. My lobster ravioli had a very nice portion size and lots of extra lobster. Our bill for 2 people who each had two alcoholic beverages was $150 with the tip. Cute date night spot. The reason for the 4 star was the blackened snapper paella wasn't good. The fish was burnt not blackened. My friend took the bottom off because of how burnt it was. read more

We were in town on business and thankful to have a nice restaurant open on a Monday night. We had a reservation which it turns out we didn't need, as there were very few people in the restaurant on a chilly February evening. We were seated promptly and ordered some nice wines from the winery. We were also offered some delicious breads with a garlic butter and a cheese spread that were really delicious. We then ordered the beet salad which was excellent and beautiful, crab cakes, and wagyu beef sliders. Everything was really good but our heat favorite were the crab cakes. We would have given this 5 stars, but the service was a little off. Out waitress seemed new and not the most knowledgeable or attentive considering that the restaurant was mostly empty. Next time we agreed we would try sitting at the bar for more personal service. Overall it was a lovely evening and we will certainly return. read more

My wife used to work at Kohler a number of years ago, so she's been wanting to take me here the last couple of years but it hasn't worked out when we came up from Milwaukee the last couple of times. She's been ranting and raving about the salads and pizzas (which are now no longer on the menu). Finally, we made it today after going to Flora Fields for Mother's Day weekend. We did the wine flight of dry red wines and they all were great. Really well selected. We ordered the duck flatbread and some fries for the kiddos. Unfortunately, the food was pretty awful. The flatbread had no flavor, or as if all the ingredients just meshed together in a blender and the crust was overcooked or cooked more than once? I was looking for any kind of flavor punch but it just fell flat (pun not intended). Maybe it was previously frozen as that would explain everything. But it was topped with some microgreens to look better than frozen. Can't really mess up fries, but I guess you can when you don't change the oil they're fried in after awhile. Felt like there was a fish fry on the fries minus the fish. The service and the atmosphere were all great. I would say if you go, go for the wine and atmosphere, not the food. read more

I share this review not to shame the location but rather to hope they do a quality review. My husband and I just visited there last week. It was off season for them so they were in the middle of a huge remodel. Big things coming and the plans look beautiful. Sadly we didn't get to experience it. However we were limited to only doing a tasting as their resturant wasn't open. The tasting was to be expected. Not every wine was a hit but it was good priced and gave a chance to try different types. Hostess was great. Experience was fun. To be honest my husband and I each really only liked 1 taste of our flight enough to buy. He purchased a bourbon barrel red and I purchased a red blend. We loved them at the tasting. Spending roughly 90 total for 2 bottles. I got home and couldn't wait to drink mine so I popped the cork.... Cork came out clean. No red wine stain, nothing to smell. Terrible sign. The wine was flat and had soured. Nothing like the one we tasted. We had to pour it down the drain as it was undrinkalble. The next night we decided to drink the other one in hopes it would be ok and it was a one off.... Nope. Both bottles were not corked properly and had gone bad. It was not a case of improper storage on our end as we opened it within a week of purchasing it. The bottling process failed them or they were pouring something different from what they were selling. Overall - I wouldn't stop someone for going there as they have a beautiful location. But I would hazard them from purchasing bottles to go as they clearly have a manufacturing problem that needs to be fixed asap. read more

We recently had dinner at The Blind Horse and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We started the evening sitting at the bar, where we enjoyed cocktails, sampled a few wines, and shared the cheese curds. The interactions with the restaurant team were fantastic - everyone was friendly, engaging, and genuinely welcoming. For dinner, the braised short rib risotto was the standout dish for us - absolutely delicious. We're already recommended this to friends! We can't wait to come back to check out the renovated winery area and the new tasting room in Cedarburg! read more

This used to be a favorite but tonight's dining changed my opinion... The waitress was new - she told us it was her first night on her own - this feels like more of a reflection of being short handed and poor management than the new wait staff. Very, very slow to bring even water, wrong dinner was brought with a shrugged apology and really nothing at all special about the overpriced/underwhelming food. It also felt strange - uncleaned tables etc. I had to ask to have plates cleared. I felt like I was at Denny's. Service was bad (hate saying that because it was her first day and she was harried.) Management should have planned and scheduled accordingly. read more

I've eaten here twice now. The food is exceptional. It's a really cute property and a must-try if you're in the area. We had the goats cheese cheese curds, bruschetta flight, ravioli and wall-eye. Every dish was delicious! The blind horse Chardonnay is also great. The only draw back about the restaurant is that it's very loud. read more

This fine restaurant would fit right in at the high end of the Portland foodie scene! Delectable food; outstanding cocktails, and pleasant attentive service. The scallops rivaled any you will find along the coast. The fish had an exquisitely spiced flavor. Being this good comes with the downside of high popularity; reservations strongly recommended. I love this restaurant. Food and atmosphere are great. Their wine is excellent, which they make completely by themselves in their winery (I believe you can do a winery tour + pairings now for a certain amount) I would recommend going during the summer when they have their patio open. They have live music Thursday through Sunday and more casual food out there. The truffle parmesan fries are to die for. In the main restaurant, food is a little fancier and more expensive, but equally delicious. The staff is so friendly! Would definitely recommend stopping here when you are in Sheboygan/Kohler! read more

The menu has great choices for appetizers, main courses and drinks. The wine was excellent. One of our main courses was the salmon. It was cooked exactly as requested and was flavorful and delicious. The plate was filled with a salad that was not only delicious, but also filled with healthy ingredients. We also ordered the pan seared duck. It was excellent with plenty of Brussel sprouts and potatoes also on the plate. Our server was very friendly and helpful. There's a pleasant vibe throughout the restaurant. Our food was good (I really enjoyed my butternut squash ravioli and my husband his steak) and the atmosphere was lovely. The pacing of our dinner was weirdly off though, like we were halfway through our entrees before we had our cocktails (ordered with appetizers), waters went unfilled, etc. I think maybe just a new server or off night, and I do still think it's worth a visit for the grounds alone! read more

Fantastic Food, Wine and Service! Highly Recommend. My husband and I went out to dinner for a date night and this was perfect. Food - Classic Bruschetta was the best I've ever had. Lamb Dumplings with three incredible and mouth watering sauces. One of the best burgers we've ever eaten (seriously). Truffle fries, regular fries and there in-house Malbec was the most flavorful wine we've had in years. The burger and fries were HUGE portions. The only thing that wasn't out of this world was the apple bacon bruschetta and the cherry cocktail. But she took them off our bill. Wine - Blind Horse Malbec - dry, smooth, complex flavors. Layers upon layers of varying flavors to experience in one taste. Fantastic Service - SAMMY was amazing. She was knowledgeable about everything on the menu, gave great recommendations and remembered every detail. We never waited for her to do anything. She also mastered the balance of giving us time alone, while servicing us. She was funny too! Couldn't get a better server. If you need a date night - look no further! read more

We just returned from Kohler for golf/spa and we wanted something different than resort dining so we tried Blind Horse. Excellent! I highly recommend reservations - even on a Monday night. We had them, but were there early for our table. We were going to get apps at the bar, but enjoyed the bartender and other patrons so much, we ate our whole meal there. We started with the Fried Chicken Buns and Cheese Plate. Both were really good and would recommend to anyone. For entrees, we got the scallops and pork chop. I wanted the steak, but who could say no to Bacon risotto? The chop was very large - tasty but the shining star was the sherry date reduction on top. I couldn't taste the blue cheese (and would ask for more next time). My husband liked his scallops a lot too. I was able to sneak a bite of the creamed corn and that was outstanding! We paired our meal with the Pinot Noir - they make onsite. It was really good and I would get it again. Too bad the winery is not open on Mondays as I would have bought a bottle or two for home. I recently attended my Son's wedding at the the Blind Horse and my husband and I were very disappointed by the service. My son had requested two menus, one for the adults and one for the children at his wedding. They never put the requested food out for the children's meal because they never made it, they forgot all about it. So even though they were sorry the children did not get the food they were looking forward too. 20 children and some of them did not eat at all because of this.The bartenders didn't have a clue on how to make a mix drink and the staff were very snooty . The seating for dinner was terrible , no room for everyone and no table just for the Bride and groom and immediate family. My son did not know where to sit because of the poor seating arrangement. I also think the bartenders had no clue what they were suppose to give free(on my Son's tab) and what they were suppose to charge money for. All in all not a very organized experience and I will be sure to tell all my friends how NOT to have any gatherings at this establishment ! read more

Never been here before. Drove past and said,"let's give it a try". I was first greeted with do you have a reservation? Responded with I do not. She proceeded to give us a place to sit and told us you have to be out by 7pm we have a reservation coming in so that gives you a little less than 2 hours .. We were like ok. I ordered the special drink which wasn't that special. I also ordered the special on the menu which was chicken. The chicken was really good, but very small in size. My husband ordered the red snapper and it looked like a fish swimming in chicken broth with some rice and random vegetables and to add a few fish bone removals. The red snapper, and assume it was chicken broth did not pair well together. Everything is priced too high. If the quality of food matched the price I wouldn't mind paying. I will not be going back. So to sum it up I am now the blind horse whose eyes have opened to average food with above average prices... Please enjoy!! read more

Came for the wine, stayed for the food. Blind Horse came highly rated, and we were not disappointed. We felt obligated to try the wine - they are a winery, after all - and were unfortunately not impressed (I'll still give them credit where credit is due - it was good for Wisconsin!). I swapped my rose for a margarita, which was excellent. The food was what really blew me away! We started with the shaved asparagus salad and goat cheese curds - both came beautifully presented and were delicious. We then shared the butternut squash ravioli - very tasty and also a lovely presentation - and the smash burger with an Impossible patty. We skipped dessert because we were too full! read more

The absolute best Osso Bucco I've ever had. My friends had the house specialty filets and bacon wrapped scallops. We all raved about our meals. What a great find on our weekend excursion to kohler! We stayed at the nearby American Club and wanted to experience something other than the resort restaurant fare. It was a beautiful evening and we started off enjoying the patio and the yummy pizzas and truffle fries while listening to the live bluegrass band . We then proceeded to go indoor for dinner and we were lucky to have Liz as our attentive and fun waitress ! Everything she recommended was delicious.. cheeseburger , stacked salmon and risotto and brisket were all big hits! I was driving from O'Hare up to Green Bay earlier in the week and at about 7 pm a few of us were hungry and looked on Yelp for places to eat. We found many highly rated restaurants in the region are closed on Monday's, but fortunately The Blind Horse is open This GEM of a place is a restaurant at the front stone farm house and a winery in the back barn We were not able to see the winery because it closes much earlier. The restaurant has a very cute warm decor The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgable We ordered some local beer, The Blind Horse wine flight tasting and a meat and cheese platter. We all enjoyed the beers and wine. The meat and cheese platter was just so so Here is what we had for dinner * Cauliflower Tempura- this was really nice! served over a bed of creamed cauliflower with saffron aioli and drizzled with a spicy kimchee sauce * Beet salad- it sounds boring but it was magnificent! The beets were colorful and sweet on top of chevre cheese and a nice extra virgin olive oil and balsamic drizzle * Apple bacon salad was very nice * Caledonian Walleye was delicious * Gourmet burger was very good * Pan seared Scallops- this was the winner entree- i could OD devouring this dish I look forward to come back again soon to try some of their other dishes and wines read more

100/10 recommend! Their food, wine, and service is BEYOND incredible. You cannot go wrong with any of the food, but the bruschetta trio is by far the best, especially if you get the one with filet on it. the filet is like butter! The grounds are pretty and in the summer they always have live music. We have gone here with a young infant and they were very accomidating with highchairs and making sure i didnt need anything specific for my daughter. the wine is delicious, there is something for everyone. Dry, sweet, or in the middle. I did join the wine of the month club and while being sold on it, they didnt indicate the program would be changing the following month which added less value to the membership. its Okay though, i still love the wine and food. read more

We dined here for the first time on Tuesday evening. We appreciated the spacing at the restaurant (in these Covid times) and what ventilation changes that Blind Horse has installed. My husband and I had excellent service from Sammy who was engaging and informative in describing the menu. Sammy also was attentive and just one delightful human throughout our meal. I had a beet salad that was incredible followed by their special entree of seared scallops over a quinoa pilaf! I brought home half and had it for breakfast! Yes!! It was that good!! (And filling!) My husband had the filet mignon that was so incredible that we are entertaining the idea of going back tomorrow! I had Blind Horse Sauvignon Blanc with my meal and Hubs had an aged Manhattan. Both complimented our meal excellently. The banana cake dessert sounded delish -- maybe tomorrow night.... read more

Our server explained specials and features in the perfect manner. My husband had the Ribete and I had the surf and turf over mushroom risotto. That was incredible. read more

This used to be a great table for simple but always well-executed dishes with lots of flavor, great ingredients, reasonably generous and priced accordingly. Unfortunately, my recent visit has shown that it hasn't kept up the quality/price ratio of years past. Napa Ragu $24: A simple rigatoni pasta dish with simmered beef and tomato sauce. This dish was a disappointment. For an entree, the portion was the size of an appetizer. The very small amount of "ragu" in the plate had little flavor and was completely under-seasoned. The dish was dry (barely any sauce) and had only a couple of tiny shavings of the advertised mozzarella. Most home cooks can do better at home! Salmon Tower $29: This one had plenty of food on the plate, unfortunately staked up in an unappetizing mound. The salad was fresh and tasted ok but nothing exceptional. What saved this dish - despite being slightly overcooked - was the piece of salmon and its Asian-influenced glaze. Not very exciting dish but alright. 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine for a bit less than a $100 (tax and tip included). A bit steep for uninspiring cooking. read more
