We were in town on business and thankful to have a nice restaurant open on a Monday night. We had a reservation which it turns out we didn't need, as there were very few people in the restaurant on a chilly February evening. We were seated promptly and ordered some nice wines from the winery. We were also offered some delicious breads with a garlic butter and a cheese spread that were really delicious. We then ordered the beet salad which was excellent and beautiful, crab cakes, and wagyu beef sliders. Everything was really good but our heat favorite were the crab cakes. We would have given this 5 stars, but the service was a little off. Out waitress seemed new and not the most knowledgeable or attentive considering that the restaurant was mostly empty. Next time we agreed we would try sitting at the bar for more personal service. Overall it was a lovely evening and we will certainly return.

Red wine cork with no red stain. Proof of improper corking process.

I share this review not to shame the location but rather to hope they do a quality review. My husband and I just visited there last week. It was off season for them so they were in the middle of a huge remodel. Big things coming and the plans look beautiful. Sadly we didn't get to experience it. However we were limited to only doing a tasting as their resturant wasn't open. The tasting was to be expected. Not every wine was a hit but it was good priced and gave a chance to try different types. Hostess was great. Experience was fun. To be honest my husband and I each really only liked 1 taste of our flight enough to buy. He purchased a bourbon barrel red and I purchased a red blend. We loved them at the tasting. Spending roughly 90 total for 2 bottles. I got home and couldn't wait to drink mine so I popped the cork.... Cork came out clean. No red wine stain, nothing to smell. Terrible sign. The wine was flat and had soured. Nothing like the one we tasted. We had to pour it down the drain as it was undrinkalble. The next night we decided to drink the other one in hopes it would be ok and it was a one off.... Nope. Both bottles were not corked properly and had gone bad. It was not a case of improper storage on our end as we opened it within a week of purchasing it. The bottling process failed them or they were pouring something different from what they were selling. Overall - I wouldn't stop someone for going there as they have a beautiful location. But I would hazard them from purchasing bottles to go as they clearly have a manufacturing problem that needs to be fixed asap.

I've eaten here twice now. The food is exceptional. It's a really cute property and a must-try if you're in the area. We had the goats cheese cheese curds, bruschetta flight, ravioli and wall-eye. Every dish was delicious! The blind horse Chardonnay is also great. The only draw back about the restaurant is that it's very loud.

This fine restaurant would fit right in at the high end of the Portland foodie scene! Delectable food; outstanding cocktails, and pleasant attentive service. The scallops rivaled any you will find along the coast. The fish had an exquisitely spiced flavor. Being this good comes with the downside of high popularity; reservations strongly recommended. Strongly recommend.

    Filet mignon - EXCELLENT!!!

Our waitress Lacy was wonderful! Excellent service and food. The house Cabernet and Pinto Grigio both great! Fun fact they have the grapes from Napa Valley delivered to their winery and make their own wine! Dinner order: Lamb dumplings- excellent Filet Mignon - excellent Butternut Squash Ravioli- very good We loved there & definitely recommend it!!

The wine selection was incredible for a new operation and I highly recommend the Tuscan blend red wine.

While living in the Village of Kohler in "my previous life" the American Club was the centerpiece. Many family and visitor gatherings at the "H&P". Nathan greeted us upon opening for an early lunch snack and bloody. We split the Club sandwich (with center bread removed). Delicious and perfect portion. The Bloody Mary screams Wisconsin w the skewer loaded up with snacks, and the cute "Baby Miller" as a back. The Horse & Plow Club sandwich was so good, we stopped a few days later while heading back to the airport. The bar tends to get busy w hotel guests, golfers and tourists. It's the place to be!

I took the top bun off at some point cause it was too much bread. Came here cause I heard the cheese curds were some of the best in Wisconsin. Honestly they were kind of underwhelming. They served it with a blueberry jam which I thought was interesting and it tasted good together, but nothing special to be honest. The American Club area is super beautiful inside and out and the Horse and Plow fit that same vibe.

The Immigrant taught me the expensive lesson that the middle of Wisconsin is for supper clubs and cheese curds. I've never walked out in the middle of a meal before, so thank you for providing that story to me. My wife and I booked a reservation on New Years Eve. They had a very expensive prix fixe menu, which I'd expect from a fine dining restaurant. I have no issues with a restaurant charging hundreds of dollars per person for a meal like this. But I do expect the service and food to be fantastic, which it was far from. -It took over a half an hour for us to get water at our table. Our drink orders were finally taken after that. -Our waiter went on and on about how the restaurant has been nominated for 12 James Beard awards and won 3. THIS IS NOT TRUE. As far as I can tell, the current chef has won a single James Beard award years ago at a different restaurant. None of the previous head chefs have, and the restaurant itself hasn't. -Also, a waiter telling you about all the awards the restaurant has won is the tackiest thing in the world. I'd expect better from a fine dining restaurant. After every course he was basically telling us that the food was SO GREAT. It was obnoxious. -The menu was set for 9 courses. After 2 hours, we had only received 5 of the courses, most of which were so so so gross. We were starving and left. -One course was a fingerling sweet potato, cooked, cut in half, with fish roe on top, and a smelly piece of seaweed as garnish/decoration. That's it. Or at least, that's what it tasted like. If they did anything else to it, I wouldn't know. What was the point of that dish? -Another was foie gras with caramelized white chocolate. How do those flavors go together AT ALL? Why would you serve them as one of the first two courses? And that white chocolate wasn't caramelized, so why did you say it was? -At one point we were served bread with a side of butter that had chopped up seaweed in it. What's the obsession with seaweed? It ruined that butter. Who wants the gross taste of fishy salt with their bread? - Raw scallops with cold horseradish sauce and dill. It tastes like it sounds. Listen, I'm no stranger to fine dining. We expected the food to be edible, the service to be prompt, and the experience to be positive. The Immigrant failed on all fronts, ultimately leading to us ending our stay at The American Inn. But I guess the ambience had a certain charm to it. One star.
