Amanda was a wonderful server. She was kind and sweet, anticipated our needs and made great recommendations. We started with the not-so-lazy Susan app- which was a fun array of different things to try. Chicken liver mousse, an onion dip and an orange-fig butter that melted in my mouth. I saved the last bites of it and some of the bread for dessert...it was that good. The house wine was very nice, and the food was pretty good. The room is plush and bougie, exactly what you'd expect at a steak house in a fancy hotel.

We stayed at the American Club and were able to have both dinner and breakfast at the Wisconsin Room. We were there on a Sunday night and a Monday morning, so there were only a few other tables with other people. It was quiet and very pleasant and the service was wonderful. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu! Dinner was delicious and the butter that was melted over the steak was unreal. The wedge salad and French onion soup were the perfect things to share to start the meal. The half chicken was also very good. The only thing that wasn't our favorite was the 5-year cheddar cauliflower. It unfortunately just was not very cheesy and lacked some flavor. Overall, the meal was delicious! Our server even packed us some treats to take up to our room since we were celebrating getting married! For breakfast, we had the bed and breakfast package and could get whatever we wanted off the menu. We had the avocado toast, monkey bread, and eggs Benedict. Also very delicious!

had an awesome experience at The Wisconsin Room! The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and really well prepared. You can tell they put a lot of care into every dish. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and on point the whole time. Definitely a place I'd come back to. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food and a comfortable, upscale vibe!

We had such a nice time dining at The Wisconsin room during our stay at the Kohler Spa. The restaurant is dark, but cozy, and be sure to enjoy a cocktail in the lounge prior to dinner! The food was really delicious, and our waitress was very attentive. My roast chicken was cooked perfectly, and the assortment of sides were all delicious.

Food A- my food was amazing, but my friend's eggs were over cooked. Which for a 5 diamond restaurant should be a no brainer. :( Service B+ Ambiance A+++++. It's so gorgeous!!

Our server Elisabeth was excellent. She was very useful with deciding what to order and very personable. The J Henry Old Fashioned was very good with two luxardo cherries! The mushroom app was light but flavorful. It was not warm enough when it came out. The squash soup with a large nut covered crostini was flavorful but had a bit too much ginger. The tuna tartare was very, very fresh however it needed a lot more seasoning, salt and pepper - some acid and a hint if onion would have brightened up the flavor. The tiny lingonberries (?) were a nice touch. The dried piece of brioche was a nice vehicle for the tuna, however a second piece would've been helpful since there was so much tuna! Not sure the creme fraiche was helpful as it was so plain as well - perhaps flavoring that with some shallots or chives would've brought the whole dish together. They were offering U-10 scallops at $10 each so I added two to the appetizer scallop dish it was very delicious with brown butter and some paper thin slices of potato in a few rings of Fresno chilies, although again it could've been a lot warmer. The walleye came out basically room temperature at best. There was a parsnip purée underneath which was very smooth and flavorful. They brought two small bites complementary for my husband's birthday - a Mezcal toasted marshmallow and a raspberry macaron. Both were delicious. The chocolate peanut butter entremet was amazing. It had a nice crispy layer in the center and great balance of chocolate and peanut butter flavors. At first we thought the banana sorbet was going to be a weird addition but it really brightened up the whole dish and cut through the chocolate.

My husband and I went there yesterday for a breakfast. I had egg Benedict with salmon and my husband had Wisconsin room omelet. The food was delicious. The egg Benedict was better than the omelet but both were delicious. The service was great. Our server was there when needed and too much. The environment as always was amazing.

Staying at destination kohler and the Wisconsin room is one of the few restaurants open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Made a reservation for dinner which was a quick walk across the parking lot from the carriage house. Service was good with great recommendations. It is a large dining hall and wasn't even close to half full on a Monday night. Free bread is served on the table. We got the lamb chops which were good but lacking a little seasoning/flavor but the cauliflower on the side definitely made up for it with a nice sauce and spice. We also got the house made gnocchi which was really good and has small pieces of shrimp in it. Beautiful restaurant and hotel over all. Would definitely go back. Would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. You can also charge the meal to your room. We got a stay package that had a dinner credit and it will be applied at the end of our stay along with anything else charged to the room.

Steak Rossini, expertly cooked but truffle amount disappointed

Dined at Wisconsin Room while staying at Kohler's Spa resort. Apparently, the place to be while at Kohler is The Immigrant restaurant but it books out weeks in advance and The Wisconsin room seemed to be a reasonable alternative. The ambiance was historic (in the best meaning of the word), tasteful and not too fussy. Music was "90th" old fashioned and in my opinion something more classy-jazzy would have fit better. Do yourself a favor and read about the history of the building on the first page of their menu and ask staff for more anecdotes if time traveling while having a meal excites your taste buds as much as it does with mine. They gave me a Wisconsin Room themed tile as a gift in the end of the meal and it felt like a well chosen and thoughtful gift. The waiter was attentive but not in that sugary-fussy way that screams "fake". I wanted a steak Rossini and he recommended a perfect cut for it. The meat itself was cooked to perfection and there is nothing that I would change about it. Foie Gras steak was well prepared and the size of it was average compared to other Rossini's that I have had before. The amount of black truffle shave did not match either the recipe or the 40$ price tag for the "Rossini" add on. I counted and there were precisely 6 thin slices/shaves of black truffle on a large size steak-the amount that gave 0 flavor/aroma enhancement. Truffle shave only works when you are generous with it, so in that regard the dish left more to be desired. Overall, the experience was positive but I would highly recommend ordering a foie gras appetizer for 20 something $ rather than taking a 40$ Rossini add on. I would also skip their Old Fashioned (had too much alcohol in it and chocolate flavor did not fit in. Their wine list is excellent though!

The Immigrant taught me the expensive lesson that the middle of Wisconsin is for supper clubs and cheese curds. I've never walked out in the middle of a meal before, so thank you for providing that story to me. My wife and I booked a reservation on New Years Eve. They had a very expensive prix fixe menu, which I'd expect from a fine dining restaurant. I have no issues with a restaurant charging hundreds of dollars per person for a meal like this. But I do expect the service and food to be fantastic, which it was far from. -It took over a half an hour for us to get water at our table. Our drink orders were finally taken after that. -Our waiter went on and on about how the restaurant has been nominated for 12 James Beard awards and won 3. THIS IS NOT TRUE. As far as I can tell, the current chef has won a single James Beard award years ago at a different restaurant. None of the previous head chefs have, and the restaurant itself hasn't. -Also, a waiter telling you about all the awards the restaurant has won is the tackiest thing in the world. I'd expect better from a fine dining restaurant. After every course he was basically telling us that the food was SO GREAT. It was obnoxious. -The menu was set for 9 courses. After 2 hours, we had only received 5 of the courses, most of which were so so so gross. We were starving and left. -One course was a fingerling sweet potato, cooked, cut in half, with fish roe on top, and a smelly piece of seaweed as garnish/decoration. That's it. Or at least, that's what it tasted like. If they did anything else to it, I wouldn't know. What was the point of that dish? -Another was foie gras with caramelized white chocolate. How do those flavors go together AT ALL? Why would you serve them as one of the first two courses? And that white chocolate wasn't caramelized, so why did you say it was? -At one point we were served bread with a side of butter that had chopped up seaweed in it. What's the obsession with seaweed? It ruined that butter. Who wants the gross taste of fishy salt with their bread? - Raw scallops with cold horseradish sauce and dill. It tastes like it sounds. Listen, I'm no stranger to fine dining. We expected the food to be edible, the service to be prompt, and the experience to be positive. The Immigrant failed on all fronts, ultimately leading to us ending our stay at The American Inn. But I guess the ambience had a certain charm to it. One star.
