My partner got me a last minute appointment w Jose, the owner, after another salon botched my waist-long hair to some kind of mop-top pixie. Ngl, was nervous to go to a barbershop bc I'm a girl, but my hair was so short we went for it. It can't be said enough: JOSE IS THE MAN. He was really welcoming and friendly as soon as we stepped in. This man has lived an awesome life and shared loads of cool stories w us, while making sure I was getting the cut I wanted. It came out great! My gf and I liked him so much, we came back to to get her long hair cut as well! JOSE DOES IT ALL! The prices are really affordable too. This place is the only barber shop I go to!!! The barber here is one of a kind and I highly recommend him. However I do recommend making time to get your hair either cut or styled because he tends to take along time so it isn't somewhere to go when your in a rush or in a hurry. However while getting your hair done might take long he makes up to you by sharing past stories and laughs and even music. The barbers attitude is nice and sharp and he really cuts you deals when u need it. He also offers drinks from water to soda. And even beers for the older ones as long as there not the ones driving. He does every type of style or cut you can imagine and most of all and he isn't a stranger to dying hair either. I found this place by accident because it was near my credit union. My barber was too far and I needed an emergency haircut for my weekend military duty 5 years ago. I never went back to my old barber and have been a loyal customer to Family Barbers ever since even though it is far from home, and out of my way from work to home. Jose is a great barber and he was raised and stayed in Montebello. He always introduces you to all the people waiting for a haircut and it is like a comedy club in there because everybody is telling stories and jokes. Definitely recommend going here! The best! Everytime I would go get a haircut anywhere else they would always mess up my hair, by cutting it too short and/or the layers would look just weird. After so many times of getting horrible haircuts I decided to do it on my own. It didn't turn out perfect but better than anywhere else. Anyways, I decided to come here and I love it here! My hair is exactly how I wanted it, layers, same length and feeling much lighter. I feel and look amazing. Jose is a very friendly, very engaging fellow. I went there once last year for the first time, very welcoming to a newcomer like me, made me feel at home. I travelled out of town, got my haircut at a few supercuts and it just wasn't the same. didn't quite look right.
