My Aunt has been a patient of Family Dentistree for over 20 yrs, and recommended Dr. Lance West. He was very thorough, and spent a lot of time with me...making sure I was comfortable with my choices. He was very gentle, and gave me "breaks" due to my anxiety. His assistant, Eve, is amazing! She is kind and compassionate. I love my new smile!!! My wife had a crown that came off and we called all over town and finally made the decision to call Family dentistree and that is the right spelling, there is a big tree in the middle of the building. They took us right in and a five minute wait and incomes Dr. John Hall he was great. He made us feel comfortable he has a great sense of humor and really spent a long time getting the crown just right he made us very happy. I've always hated going to the dentist, perhaps more than most cause of traumatic childhood experiences. I moved to Sarasota in 2014. My parents have lived here since 1999 and recommended the practice. My first couple times I was with Dr. Miller, who was great. I needed work done again and Dr. Miller wasn't available so I had myself booked with Dr. Hall. Since about mid-2015 I've been getting all my work done with him. He's got a strange and wonderful sense of humor, a wealth of life-experiences, and a jovial positive attitude. And like Jan K's review states, nothing less than perfect will do. I can't say enough good things about him or his right arm, go-to, sweetest there ever was assistant Sarah. I had my first and hopefully last, implant yesterday. And because of my dental PTSD I'm always a bit stressed. But drilling into my jaw, even with several injections of numbing agent, there was a few moments of severe pain, prior to second round of injections. Those few moments were enough to raise my PTSD. Like I said, the pain stopped after another round of injections, but what made all the difference in the world was Sarah putting her hand on my shoulder. I got a cleaning & checkup, and it was mostly a pleasant experience. They told me I needed two fillings so I got them both as soon as the pandemic let up, then two weeks later I started feeling a lot of pain in one of those teeth. Went back in to check it out and they said my teeth on that side were too sharp and grinded one side down without grinding the other, then told me I might need a root canal on one of the teeth they did a filling on... They referred me to an endodontist that didn't accept my insurance, and when I called to ask for a referral that would, they told me to talk to my insurance to get a list. I did that, it was annoying, then called back and a different person answered. I explained the situation and asked they asked what my insurance was. I told them and they gave me a recommendation immediately, so I don't get why the first person couldn't just look it up? Then I realized my bite felt uneven since only one side was grinded down and went back in to fix the other side. They fixed it, then charged me about $260 to fix a mistake they caused! On top of me already having to pay for a filling that just made me feel worse. On top of me now having to pay for a root canal somewhere else. On top of my teeth being unnecessarily ground down. Most people there are very nice, but I can't help but be honest about my experience when I've lost time, money and enamel. read more

WOW! Is right! Dr John Hall has been my dentist for over 15 years and I never want to see any other dentist again. He is so relaxed, laid back & makes everything so simple but don't mistake that for less than perfect work. He is a dental artist! Loves his work and it shows. I get the impression that he believes that you can tell a lot about a person by the way their teeth look, just as you can with their shoes & their hand shake. Also the office is so calm & serene & Very Clean. Everyone working there is happy, helpful, smiling and nice. It shows that it is a great place to work. All the dental assistants will go the extra mile to help explain what is going to happen & help while it is happening. Sandy, who has been there for Ever is really a favorite for me. read more

I would give this a zero star if able. My mother went in for dental work and saw Dr. Hall. He proposed $11,400 worth of work on an elderly old woman. The cost is not the problem. The problem is that we received a call the next day from the other dentist in the office explaining that Dr. Hall's advice was ill given. He wanted to spend $9,000 on bottom teeth that would last at best a couple of years. Wanted to charge $2500 for an upper denture that he didn't bother to explain would not work properly due to the condition of her lower back gums. The 9,000 for her bottom teeth didn't even involve the back teeth. So he wanted my mother to spend $11,400 for something that wasn't even going to work. I would be wary of going to a Dr. that throws that type of figure at someone and doesn't explain that it isn't even the best option. read more
