The staff was really nice. My second visit (to get my filling) went smoothly, no pain at all, which I appreciated. However, pricing with my HMO insurance seemed really high, especially for a filling and wisdom teeth removal. They quoted me over $1000 for my wisdom tooth removal, and told me I needed an additional $200+ special imagining because X-Rays couldn't reach that far back. Something about it didn't feel right, so I talked to my friends and family who has had similar procedures and they all agreed pricing seemed unreasonably high. I ended up getting a second opinion at another dentist and I'm soooo glad I did. Every quote I got here was cut in half or MORE at the new office. I was torn about leaving a higher rating because everyone was so nice at this dentist- but I don't know how nice anyone can be when they blatantly lie about dental work you need. I came in for a check up after a year of being very intentional with my dental care after having four cavities my last visit. They told me I needed to come two separate times to get a bunch of cavities done on each side of my mouth. She explained to me where they were and I asked, "so, two on the left and two on the right?" And she said yes. I do the first side and it takes forever, and was relatively intense. Afterward I ask the assistant how many they did and she tells me four. FOUR. So I cancel my second appointment and I go to another dentist (who I paid out of pocket for) who does a whole series of ex rays and photos and then the dentist goes through everything with me and tells me- "you do not have a single cavity or anything that even could be mistaken as a cavity." UMMM AVOID, PLEASE. 2nd opinions are WORTHWHILE - def do not listen to this doctor. Came here bc i had pain in tooth number 2 which is a right molar with a deep filling that was worked on in July. I had an x-ray of the tooth from July and showed Dr. Mehrabian. He saw me for a total of ten mins and after looking at my tooth and blowing air on it he said i needed a root canal. no new x-ray, nothing. one of his staff came and explained that i needed to see an endodontist and what a root canal is etc. i was nearly in tears and they were both just staring at me while my eyes watered up. i was 100% not expecting that. i was hesitant bc he only saw me for ten mins and came to that conclusion and was rude and very "car salesman-y." my gut told me not to do it. i remember i told him i only have pain when i eat ice cream with occasional pains when i eat something cold and his answer without even giving it a new xray was ROOT CANAL. i was going to lose my entire tooth bc of this dude!!!! WTF!! well, thank god i didn't do it and trusted my gut. i showed my dad (retired endodontist) the x-ray form july and told him what dr mehrabian said and he was like "HELL NO, this guy has no clue." i went to see a new dr - (Dr Ho in La Canada) and he just said my alignment was off which was pressing the deep filling into the nerve, fixed it and gave me sensodyne toothpaste. he even used a piece of ice and tested my teeth sensitivity - all things dr mehrabian didn't do. It's been two weeks and my tooth feels amazing, fully zero pain and to think i would have LOST MY TOOTH all bc dr mehrabian just glanced at it. WHAT A FREAK! I just finished a much needed root canal with Dr. Vahag M. I am beyond pleased to say that he is the best Dr. I have EVER had. Handled everything perfectly and I can't thank him enough. So mom was wanting new dentures and so I said let's go here and from day one the service they provided my mom was outstanding and the good energy I felt was a plus. And so I decided let me check them out. Had been awhile since I took care of my teeth. Ended up needing a root canal and the ladies at the front desk provided GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I LOVE Dr. Vic and his staff!!! I recently had my wisdom teeth out with him and I'm incredibly happy with the way it was done and how nice everyone was. I was considering going to a surgeon and getting the twilight sleep but from my conscious experience with Dr. Vic, I now find that would have been silly. It literally took less than two minutes! Let me explain... I have a major phobia when it comes to the dentist. I'm terrified and difficult and ask 10,000 questions. Then I procrastinate and cancel or reschedule appointments. Dr. Vic is super patient and nice, he's calm and funny and helps with the anxiety. His staff is amazing and supportive. I've never waited more than five minutes and that's really helpful when you have anxiety about a procedure. Just go right in before you have any ideas of escape! Before the procedure I called and asked a ton of questions. Everything was answered nicely and with compassion. They never seemed annoyed with me. The tech who was assisting the procedure held my hand through the whole thing. They talked to me while getting the shot, she guided me through my breathing, reminding me to take deep breaths and helping me not go into panic. When the procedure actually started, I put my headphones on and I had a whole playlist. Uhhhh less than two minutes into the first song the teeth were out and I was sitting up! What? I felt no pain. Now, the aftermath. I took one ibuprofen after the extraction and that was it. No pain, no swelling, no bruising. I mean, how much more comfortable could it get? What an artist this man is! I went with my husband and met the staff, and Dr. Vic. Explained my situation to them and the entire staff encouraged me to give it a try. Well, I wound up with a loose tooth, so on my husband's next visit I asked to have it removed. Not knowing what to expect I at least was made to feel at ease. This dentist used to be good but I feel that it has been getting worse slowly but surely. The last two cleanings I had were horrible. The one I had today was the worst one. First off the hygienist doesn't even introduce herself she just starts cleaning your teeth. You get the vibe she doesn't want to be there and can care less about her job. The hygienist was spraying water everywhere, I was choking on water cause she wasn't doing the suction right. I told her to stop cause I was just going to walk out. I asked if it was normal for that amount of water to be hanging around in my mouth and she said yes its normal and blames how the machine sprays too much water. She then proceeds to do the cleaning without water and with the metal pick. After we finish she then says that I have the right to ask for dry cleaning. She doesn't understand that I had cleanings before and she just sucked at doing them. The receptionist asked if I wanted to schedule my next cleaning and I hesitated for a bit. She then said that I can also schedule via text. I said yeah text me knowing full well I'm not ever coming back. Advice to the business: hire more quality hygienist, be more honest with your patients and don't try to sell them everything during checkups, and the other dentist (not the main one he's awesome) there can work on his social skills read more

Do you like taking your car to the mechanic? Nobody does! You are always afraid they are going to rip you off and it's the same with most dentists these days. Needless to say, every time I visited this dentist for a procedure I was billed more than I should have. They as well as most dentists who take HMOs will charge you much more than they should. Surprisingly, I had a better experience at western dental! Not only did they charge me according to my HMO plan but they also didn't try to sell me anything and the molar that was labeled as needing a root canal by family Dentistry ended up just fine with a filling. I filed a grievance form with my insurance and I am still waiting for my refund from this dental office. Dr. Vahag is a con artist. He told me I needed a full oral debridement because it had been 7 months (instead of the usual 6) since my last cleaning. He said he could not clean my teeth otherwise and it would cost me an extra $70 out of pocket. I was very skeptical, but since I was already in the chair I decided to just do it so I could get my teeth cleaned. As far as I could tell, the oral debridement did not happen, but you better believe I was charged that $70. And I've since learned that debridement is only for the worst tartar buildup -- usually found on people who haven't gone to a dentist in YEARS -- which was definitely not the case with me. I came here for my 1st dental appointment in multiple years. All the staff that work there are very friendly and always smile when they talk to you which makes the office feel very inviting. I was helped by Gizel and Jasmine and they were both amazing to work with, I could tell they really do care about their patients. Dr. Vic Mehrabian was very thorough and made sure I understood what was needed; I also want to thank him for working with me as far as pricing. While I was getting a cleaning Jasmine made it a point to constantly check how I was doing and would ask if I needed a break. The doctor is more than capable and I enjoyed my experience there UNTIL........... They buit up a cracked tooth and it lasted well until some hair-line cracks allowed an infection to start. I tried to make an appointment but they were booked. I kept calling the office and got no return calls. I held off until I couldn't stand the pain anymore and I went to their office on a Friday morning only to find that the doctor takes Friday's off. I asked for his relief doctors office and phone number only to find that he didn't have one. My face was so swollen that I couldn't see out of my left eye. The receptionist suggested that I take a "couple of aspirin." On my way to the emergency room at the hospital I saw Dr. Giovanisci's sign and went in there. If I can give ZERO STARS I would, I had really bad wisdom tooth pain and they took me in as an EMERGENCY. When the dr examined me he said it needed to be taken out because i had a cavity and was getting infected so it needed to be extracted. Normally they give you antibiotics first to take then come back to get it extracted. Well I'm my case, he pretty much was telling me I need a "bone graft and memebrane" (mind you, you only need that if getting implants or osseouss) he wanted me to pay $450 for something I didn't need at all. I just needed my wisdom tooth extracted . Didn't give me no antibiotics. He just let me walk out in pain with nothing because I refused to pay for something that I didn't need which he was RIPPING ME OFF. And let me walk out because for a fact I was a medical patient. I've worked in the dental field for 4+ years and I know how Drs like this rip you off and add things to your treatment plan that you don't need at all and say it's not covered by insurance. And he didn't care to take care of me because since I had medical he knew he wasn't going to get paid for it, and rather try to take $450 from and say I needed a bone graft . His staff members are amazing and the sweetest woman I've encountered. Jasmine or Giselle I believe was really helpful in setting up appointments and giving me referrals.
