Vicky the front desk person is an unprofessional, rude, lazy and incompetent receptionist. I'm pretty sure she blocks the line sometimes so she wont have to answer the phone, because there have been at least a dozen occasions where I can not even get through to their office. She does not call insurance for issues, check-ups, or updates, and from what I can see does nothing at all to expedite or gather updates on requests for authorization, even if a patient has time-sensitive needs. It took me switching to a real dentist office with a functioning receptionist to see how awful and negligent she is. Also Dr. Nia is an aloof idiot who will interrupt you because he barely cares what you have to say, even when you are responding to his own questions about your mouth. Unfortunately I've been coming here for quite sometime, but never wrote about my experience for personal reasons, however this is finally the last time I will be coming here. I've been wanting Invisalign for quite some time, but I knew this wasn't going to be the location for me so I went to a new dentist, LA Dental Clinic, which tops this location by 1000% in every way possible. They told me to go to my original dentist to get an ortho clearance form before they could proceed with my treatment. I am sitting here today with the form that needs to be filled out and the doctor (Sona) comes in after I told them I don't need x-rays since I just got x-rays done at LA Dental Clinic, she flips out and tells me I need to get x-rays here, I tell her I don't since I just got them done and I only need a cleaning so I can get the form signed and out of the way. The Doctor picks up the phone and begins to call the other dentist and doesn't let the other woman on the line speak or even gives her any context of who she is talking about. She says, "Are you general or ortho?" the receptionists responds we do both, the doctor then continues to speak to the other receptionist with artifice and says "I have a patient here, why are you sending her here, I'm sending her back!" And hangs up on the other lady. First of all, you didn't give them any context of which patient you were referring to so there was no way she could give you an explanation as to why they need the form signed. Second of all, you hung up before she could even say anything. Also mind you, before she calls them she says under her breath, "why aren't you getting Invisalign here?" I told her 'I have my own reasons'. Which obviously I do. Anytime I've came here I haven't had a great experience and I'm just looked at as a transaction. I've never been treated with courtesy and today was probably one of the worst interactions I've ever had with a doctor all because I didn't want to pay for x-rays that they could easily retrieve from another location. read more

I've had a great experience coming to this dentist for the past two years. I've had x-rays done, cleanings, cavities filled, fixed chipped teeth, and Invisalign done. I also have extremely sensitive teeth and the dentist here have always been very accommodating to my issues to help me through procedures. Please note, I have finally finished my Invisalign trays today and had my hooks removed and my teeth have never looked so clean, polished, and straight! I should have sued. I came here for a front tooth implant. That's all! I had a full set of healthy teeth except one of my front teeth was missing from trauma. I spent six Months searching for an affordable implant. This office is around the corner from my house. After my initial consultation Dr Hakimi informed me I was a perfect candidate for an implant. Wonderful let's do it! The implant procedure was odd because it was overseen by another specialist but preformed by Hakimi. I felt like he was in school the person helping was far more experienced. That's just the beginning. The implant healed fine although it was not in perfect alignment because you can tell when they struggle with x rays and adjustments. Back and forth so many times. On day I was to get the actual tooth part of the implant I'm informed by dr Hakimi it's not going to look right. I'll have a gap or one larger tooth than my natural front tooth to fill in the gap? Why did you not say that up front ?What the hell? I never had a gap and why did you tell me it would look good? He said the best thing for me was to get my natural front three teeth veneered?! Wtf! Unbelievable shady upsell. I had no choice. Not what I expected but as he could see I had beautiful healthy teeth I told him i wanted little grinding of my natural teeth for the veneer. I was very upset at this point. But I didn't know what else to do. When I came in for my veneers he ground my teeth to little needles. I wanted to cry. He ground the base down so much that two weeks into having my mouth done I took a bite of chicken and one of my teeth torque off at the root. So painful. So guess what another implant. He took no responsibility for the cause. So I had to get a second implant. I had a tiny bit of root up there. I counted 23 tries before he called another dentist to attempt to remove the tip of the root. He absolute destroyed my beautiful gum line. The other dentist got it in two tries. Blood everywhere. I concept of how to numb a mouth. A second dentist took over and numbed my mouth properly because he was so frustrated. For a guy with such a limp handshake he is brutal in your mouth. Horrible touch just the worst. Rough and haphazard. So now I'm stuck with what look like dentures and my second implant became loose almost immediately. The hygienist said I should be very careful because it's not attached well?! This place feels like a dirty dental school. I wish I could show you my file. 40 X-rays later none were in any order just a bag absolutely unorganized and unprofessional. Here's a picture of their awful work. Run from this place!!!!!! It cost thousands and all Needs to be redone. All the veneers and implants were unaligned when finished. I couldn't believe it! I have crooked teeth!! STEER CLEAR! I came here one time and that was my last time about 2-3 years ago. I knew my tooth had a filling in it and it had been coming out over time so I went in after setting things up with my insurance. Don't remember his name but he said I had a cracked tooth and it wasn't covered by insurance to repair and that it would be $3,000, but I KNEW it was BS because a cracked tooth is no joke and I wasn't in pain like that. It stopped bothering me as much over time but recently started up again. I ignored it for too long to where I had to go in so I got my dental office switched to a place with immaculate reviews and they did not disappoint! They also confirmed that my filling had indeed come out and showed me on the screen and showed me another filling that needed repair but for that one I would need a root canal and that they needed approval from my insurance to proceed. Last year in August, I had appointment for free consultation for replacement of two implants. I got estimate, which was too high so I decided to see another dentist. But this office submitted claim to my insurance company for the job which we only discussed. When I found it from insurance website, I called to my insurance company and report it as fraud claim. And surprise, in February 2024, the same office again submitted claim for the same job to my insurance company, hoping what ? - I already had my implants by another dentist. Again I found myself back at Healthy Smiles. This time there again was a different dentist but she seems to really know what she is doing and wants things done by her orders including the lab. Carmela works at front desk actually everywhere she has been there from day one and always seems to know what's going on or trys to find ways to fix things if needed. She treats the patients with respect and compassion. In my opinion she should be running these offices as knowledgeable as she is and excellent communication skills. I had a root canal that became infected and needed to come out. Dr. Hakimi's office made the entire process much easier for me. I was in pain and the entire process went well. Scheduling appointments with Carlos was easy. The x-rays went smoothly. Finally, my extraction with Dr. Josh went well. Dr. Josh calmed me down and took time to ask how I was doing during the procedure. Dr. Josh is a very talented dentist with excellent people skills. I needed to be on antibiotics for some time before the procedure. Dr. Hakimi called me up after hours to see how I was doing. When was the last time a Dr. called anyone after hours? What a change from past Dentists I have seen. My follow up visit also included a tooth cleaning and Dr. Josh did an excellent job. Ivet explained how much time I need to give for heal and set up follow up appointments for my future implant. Everyone at this office was great. Recently had a deep cleaning. It took numerous calls to even get that done. The day of the deep cleaning I walk in being the first and only patient in the morning and the dentist had no idea what services I was there for despite telling them twice (only to be given a look of visible annoyance.) Had I not made numerous phone calls they would have easily strung me along for 2 months for a deep cleaning which I had already PAID for. I'm still waiting on invisalign (medicare doesn't cover it) of which I've also paid. On a positive note the front desk receptionist is very friendly and extremely helpful. Be cautious when going to this dentist... they overcharge they seem unorganized and generally give the demeanor that they're doing their service against their will. What brings me back to this dental office is the thoroughness of their dentists, Dr. Nia, Dr. Mina. Consumer with INSURANCE, they will try to up sell you to DEEP CLEANING for extra money that is not covered by your insurance. My husband and myself went in for a cleaning ,I said no to the deep cleaning. My husband on the other hand got talked into because they offer him a 50% discount. As we all know deep cleaning is done in four groups in your mouth , it also excludes the gums. My husband got a 10 minute cleaning job and was told that was it. This place is not honest , I called to ask about the deep cleaning we were charged for and was told that is what he got, out right lie. Please be aware! As far as my basic cleaning goes , it was exactly the same as my husband and I would say very basic ,my teeth didn't feel clean at all. First off: this place gives people free service for leaving good reviews so don't trust the rating. tl;dr: 1. You'll wait up to an hour with appointment 2. They will often make mistakes with your appointment 3. Dentist doesn't actually care for you 4. They will make extra charges for things they didn't tell you before hand. Conclusion: Go somewhere else that cares ---------------------------- I went to this place for orthodontics and received Invisalign. There are so many things that this place needs to get fixed but I'll just mention a few. 1. Wait time I always went here with an appointment but never did I get to see the dentist before 30 minutes of waiting. I started to measure how long I waited each time and the average wait time was 37 minutes, and another 18 minutes after getting seated. Frustrating thing is most of my appointments last 5 minutes, just the dentist looking at my teeth, and giving me the new trays. This place overbooks people like crazy to maximize profit and have zero consideration for patients' time. 2. Mistakes in the system There were multiple occasions where they set up an appointment with me, only for me to find out it was a mistake AFTER the hour of waiting. (trays weren't here but they told me to come get them) 3. Dentist's carelessness The dentist's "check up" never actually checked anything. It was literally a glance at teeth, asking if everything was good, and then done. I can't say how many times they failed to catch an attachment fallen off, probably only thing they really needed to check. Also, there were mutliple times they just approved of trays without my consent, and because they didn't actually correct the things I was looking for, I had to keep requesting additional set of trays (which they would again approve without my approval) 4. Swindling I kept at trying to get at the the teeth position I wanted, but after some point they started to tell me I needed to pay extra for more trays. Obviously fed up, I decided to call it quits. My teeth weren't perfect but they were good enough, and anymore time and energy spent at this place wouldn't be worth it. I requested to end my service, but then they charged another $500 for retainers. Nowhere in the contract did they mention this. So in the end, after 3 years of long, excruciating experience, and $2000 short, I didn't get to fix my teeth as I wanted. There are plenty of other dentists out there that actually care about patients instead of just their money. Don't waste your time and money at this place. read more

She came up with a plan a breakdown of over 16,000 for two implants then asked if I could pay, I said no, price was ridiculous! Then she went down to 9,000 then 6,000 and was going to max out my insurance, but my insurance wasn't covering, so...she was going to charge insurance for other treatment that was not going to be performed to max out the insurance. Sounded like FRAUD! Definitely lots of red flags here. End of story started my treatment plan then had to stop as they kept raising price after treatment was started, staff very unprofessional not the cleanest place. Was very concern when they brought out some tools that were wet:( and pulled out of a plastic wrap that was sealed Very poor experience. How is it possible that the price was started so high, then went down and we're sneaky started the process and we're trying to raise the price again. A couple of years ago, my wife had to have an implant fixed with Healthy Smiles of La Canada. I have now had my gums laser treated and whitened there by Dr.Bakhtamian. It has been so successful. The treatment was two months ago and I couldn't be happier. Thank you! My teeth are more healthy than they have been in years and they have saved us money. i wouldn't normally review a dentist office but i really love dr. nia and gotta give him recognition. first of all, all the staff is great here. steph and carmella at the front desk are always really fun and welcoming when i come in. the manager, ana, is great as well. the overall vibe of this office is fun and you can tell the staff like working there. i have really sensitive teeth and have major sensitivity when i have anyone work on my teeth. when dr. nia did my fillings, i literally didn't feel anything to the point where i could have fallen asleep in the chair. he talks you through everything he does, and he was telling me how to breath so i wouldn't feel the novocaine shots. he takes his time too. i can tell he loves what he does. definitely recommend this office, make sure you schedule your appointment with dr. nia! read more
