I shopped here last week and was…read moreguaranteed by an employee that if I get home and my appliance does not work, I can return it with the original tag and receipt. They since have changed their policy regarding returns and exchanges leaving anyone who bought something within the past week with faulty products that they otherwise would not have purchased. The young lady at the counter (who had a lot of patience with my obvious displeasure) explained to me that they were having issues and as a result, they have also fired multiple employees. Apparently, the employees that they fired were the employees who value customer service skills. Last week, was a very welcoming positive experience that encouraged me to return... This week I have decided that I will shop elsewhere. The layout of the store has also been re-organized in a way that makes less sense. Instead of moving entire sections from one end of the store to the other I suggest that they focus more on accurately labeling clothes and their sizes. This location has some super cute finds but beware!! I would NOT recommend that you purchase any electronic device, including lamps and kitchen appliances from this location.

We spent about an hour in the store and my wife bought about 10 things here. I was really surprised at how much all her items costs; not overly priced but not super cheap either. I felt everything was priced just right! I loved that she had a sofa, water bottles, and wine for her customers. After about 30 minutes of looking around I sat down, grabbed some water, and waited for my wife to finish shopping! LOL

Generally speaking, I'm a fan of Family Dollar and other such discount stores. When it comes to household supplies, I don't want to spend any more money than I have to. That said, I am officially done with this location Why? The associates there insist I check my bag. Not shopping bags from other stores, mind you, but my messenger bag containing my MacBook Pro and other valuables. Even when I made it clear I was just picking up a couple rolls of paper towels, they said I could not be in the store if I wouldn't check my bag and refused to serve me. If you think I'm going to leave my laptop and other valuables with a sales associate at a discount store on Chicago Ave, you are crazy. I don't have to check my bag at the Walgreens two blocks away or at the CVS up at Ashland and Division or at Jewel or any other store where I would buy similar household products. I should add that I do not have a car and a bicycle is my main mode of transportation. So I cannot just leave my bag in my car trunk or something like that. What do they expect I do? Go home and drop off all my valuables and return to Family Dollar just to buy $2 of paper towels? I never realized that it was such a privilege to shop at this location, meriting such a personal inconvenience. Oh, wait, it's not - this is a cheap discount store with several alternatives in close proximity. While the store may be in their right to have such a policy, it is absolutely counterproductive from a business standpoint as evidenced by the fact that I will not shop there anymore. Corporate should clean house with the staff at this location. They are blemishing the company's reputation. Major fail. read more
