Review is for gel removal and regular manicure. The removal process was fine until everything was completely taken off and then I started to notice there was left behind residue. The cuticle clean up was terrible as I still had visible skin left around the sides. While the tech (I believe to be the owner) was polishing my nails I pointed out that there was left behind gel or something on my nail. She was clearly going to ignore it if I didn't say anything. All my nails were uneven and misshaped!! Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend to any one I like HA. read more

However, you can give a credit card tip by telling them how much to add before they run your card. I came in an hour before they closed on a Thursday and they didn't seem to rush at all. They took enough time to soak and paid attention to my cuticles. Pedicure chair back, neck, and head massager was one of the better ones I've sat in. I've been to Family Nail for pedicures with Anna a few times and I've always been happy. Today, I wanted a full set of sculptured acrylic nails. I told Anna exactly what I wanted: 1) thin and active length; and 2) all sculpture - NO NAIL TIPS. Mind you, my nails are short so there wasn't much to work with but she said, "Hmm...okay!" She got right to work and did the job exactly how I wanted it, and quickly too. It's been a long time since I had acrylic nails, but I remember the process well enough to know that she didn't cut any corners. Needed a gel manicure bad & this place was only a half mile from my boyfriends apartment. Very clean and the staff was friendly. It's a small joint and there were only two women working when I walked in but my technician sat my right away and it does not feel cramped when you're inside. They had a good selection of the OPI gel colors and my technician did a great job. Priced pretty fair at $27.00 for a gel mani. Will definitely go back if I'm in Cambridge and need a fix! read more

Disappointed and a little frustrated. I came in about an hour before closing and asked if they had time for a gel mani and a regular pedi. My pedicure was pretty good and the lady seemed nice but my manicure was a whole different story. My gel manicure was done while I was in the pedicure chair and the manicurist was standing. I was the only person in there until the end (two other women came in) and based on how I was being treated I definitely felt rushed. Since she did not take the time to carefully do my nails you can see how messy they are and that's very disappointing since I now have to pay someone else to fix the gel polish. If someone asks you if you have time, don't say "yes of course" if you really just want to get out of there for the day. I guess there must have been a reason the place up the street had a 20 min wait. I am leaving three stars because the pedicure lady was really kind and did a good job. It's just a shame that I don't feel comfortable going back now. UPDATE: I am downgrading this to one star because less than 4 days later my gel manicure has started to just peel off. Why pay $30 dollars for a two week manicure when it is a total mess 4 days later! I have never had this problem with Le Nails or Gorgeous Nails right down the street. read more

Tried this place for the first time. Actually quite disappointed with my service. I went in asking for a light pink dip manicure (even showed her the color) and the lady acted like she knew exactly which dip polish to choose. She didn't even really give me manicure like most salons do, just took my old nail polish off and added the new one. Sub-par job. Came for a mani w/paraffin treatment and pedi. My hands have been suffering from the weather, workouts and the like so I needed some serious help. The mani was breezed through - no soak time so I could feel the cuticle removal. Like in a day or two, they're going to look horrible. The polish job was streaky and uneven. Correcting almost made no sense b/c there was no desire to even do the job. The paraffin was lackluster, they barely let it sit on before peeling it off. It almost felt like I was being rushed out, even though there was no one there. The pedi sucked - no soak time, barely any scrubbing for dead skin removal, just bad. I won't be back. Save your money and go somewhere nicer. $35 was nice but I would've rather paid higher for better service. read more

This is the best nail place in East Cambridge! They might charge you a couple dollars more than other places on Cambridge Street, but it's very worth it. They take the time to make sure you don't end up with messy edges or bubbles. My gel manicures last about 3 weeks, and I've never had a bad experience! Make sure you call ahead for an appointment, especially if you're trying to come at the end of the day. They might not be able to take you right at your appointment time, but they're often too busy to accept all walk-ins. read more

I love this new nail salon! Anna and Lana are both amazing and they do the best manicures and pedicures that I've found in the area and their services are really affordable. They used to work at another salon down the street (Gorgeous nails) and I honestly would follow them anywhere because they do a perfect job every single time. I came in with my boyfriend for his first pedicure. We really enjoyed it here. We both got the spa pedicure and even got hot stones massage which I have never done before. When she first put the stone on my foot it was to hot and burned so she waited for it to cool down. It was simply bliss. The only issue I had here was we asked for the callus treatment and never got it. She even brought two files over and never used them. In the middle of the pedicure I even asked if we were still going to get it done and she said she already did it but I knew she didn't so I just left it alone. My boyfriend is a soccer player so he has tons of calluses so I wish she did it to him. But everything else was great! read more

My hands were in need of attention - and they did exactly that. Located right around where I live, it's location has good parking around, if not driving - the 69 bus from Lechmere (green line) will leave you right in front. I'd really say this was a 3.5 star. The reason is that they are over priced and did not include a paraffin dip compared to "Gorgeous nails" where I got my nails done prior to trying this place. The did not offer dip powder and A few on my nails are different lengths and slightly different shapes. Horrible services. The owner does not guarantee the services. Got gel mani and pedi. The gel turned dark/dirty looking the next day. The owner refused to do it over, only offered to buffer the top layer. I asked if she could do it over with the regular nail polish because I'm afraid the gel will turn bad again. This has never happened to me before. She wanted to charge me for fixing up the dirty looking nails that the salon did. So then I asked her just to remove it, she said there is a fee for removal. Would never come back. I was charged $48, which I paid $60 including tip. Don't waste your money here. Go somewhere else that do a good job. read more

I got a gel manicure and a pedicure. The pedicure was good. Not nothing extraordinary. They don't accept tips on credit card. So when I paid she gave me an attitude because I did not tip. because I paid with card and did not have cash. So when I left I did not have the same kind friendly energy that I had when I walked in. 2 days later 3 nails came off completely. Wasn't gel manicures supposed to last 2 weeks? I did get the 3 nails fixed. Free at all cost. A week later all of my gels came off. No longevity at all with there gel manicure. Probably won't be coming here again. read more

I am so torn about this place. On the one hand, they did a great job for a very reasonable price. On the other hand, it took nearly two hours to get a mani-pedi, and the woman who did my nails was a little over-zealous when she went after my cuticles. Really dug in around the edges of my toenails and did cut the cuticle on my thumb (bound to happen eventually if you get enough manicures, but still not what you hope for). I came here while visiting Cambridge and I needed to change my gel manicure on the road. They had a wide selection of colors. I'm only giving 4 stars because the manicurist attempted to peel off my gel instead of soaking it off. I asked her to soak it and from then on the manicure was great. They even gave me a Christmas gift even though they knew I wasn't local! Plus the price was incredible - $25 for a gel manicure! This place is a bit farther from me than I would like, but completely worth the extra travel. The last salon I used was very barebones with their service, while this place goes all out with care, including a scrub for your feet. I had Kim and she was absolutely lovely - always smiling! My manipedi was super affordable - keep in mind they take card, but tips are cash only. I HIGHLY recommend coming here if you've been disappointed with your nail care anywhere else! read more
