I have been coming to Nail Spa Excel for years. Most of the nail techs here have done my nails and all of them do an amazing job. Today Hannah did my nails (dip nails with funny bunny and 1 coat on the top using bubble bath) they turned out PERFECT! Can't recommend this place enough. I included 2 pictures of my nails, one in direct sunlight and one not. So good!!

My friend and I have been coming to Nail Spa Excel for dip manicures for the last year. It's a great salon. All the nail techs are talented and kind. (I always appreciate joking around with Kevin.) You can tell that the same clients keep coming back, and they're always greeted with a warm welcome. Not to mention Nail Spa Excel has some of the best prices in Somerville. The quality for the price cannot be beat anywhere in the Boston area, and I've tried a lot of salons. Two (gorgeously polished) thumbs up!

I walked in, and did not make an appointment and was seen right away. Ultimately not the best mani/pedi that I've had, but also not the worst - especially for a walk in. I would expect a little more precision and time for the price of the services ($60). I felt rushed and there are mistakes and imperfections to my nails. Cleanliness could also be improved. Staff were friendly!

After 3 weeks of rock climbing, weight lifting, working, etc, my nails didn't budge! They didn't lift at all. Returned to get a new set, & still a 5/5! Lanh was my technician this time, and she was so kind and attentive. She's great company & a great conversationalist. I love how comfortable everyone makes me feel! In terms of the nails, I'm so happy with how she made sure each nail was even. I also appreciate how the dip coats don't look bulky. It seems like a seamless layer. I was going for a more natural shape/length & I was so pleased! It's a bit hard to accomplish a round shape on a shorter length, but she managed to *excel* (haha) at it! Would highly recommend. Definitely going to try a design next time (:

I came here last minute before a trip. Usually I'm great at managing my time, but this weird phenomenon happens where I end up having to do 3 million things the day before leaving on a trip. The last time, I had to get my nails done. So, I looked through Yelp and after comparing a bunch of places, decided to try Nail Spa Excel. I called and asked for dip extensions and they were able to squeeze me in just 30 minutes later. They have tons of color options for gel, regular, and dip. I opted for ombré and loved how my nails came out. The prices are fair and the technicians are very nice!

Great place! They did a fantastic job on my nails for graduation. It was also very quick and affordable, would go again.

Called ahead and was seen right away by Kevin, who was able to suggest a color for my dip manicure based on a picture I showed him. I have stubby hands and fragile nails, but Kevin absolutely killed it! Super happy with the result. Will definitely be back in the future.

I came here before and the customer service us great but the prices are so high for mediocre work. They charge $50 for a full set. I was upset because on top of that the lady did gel polish on acrylic nails for my daughter. We know that costs more and is pointless. Anyway, I got a pedicure. Paid the extra 15 for the mid package and I don't think there was any difference then a regular pedicure. Quite honestly I've had better pedicures for less. They are patient tho and I like that they solved the issue with the gel polish on the full set. My manicure is ok. Initially she was putting on the wrong color, but it was close enough to white that she just added white on top.

Did hard gel with a french tip design. The overall spa was tidy and organized, though a bit on the smaller side. My nails were done by Michael, he was nice and it was a pleasant experience. I do think that there could have been more time and care put into prepping the nail before going in with the builder gel. My french tips did start to chip a bit within a week. Overall, it was nearly identical to the inspo pic I had and the price was fair 7/10 read more

I've gone to this location twice for a basic pedicure and manicure. I found the quality to be good and the service from the techs to be excellent but I'm deeply concerned by the homophobic behavior of the owner. He evidently doesn't want men in his establishment - he will give you a sour look and makes you wait when there are technicians available. I genuinely like the technicians and is priced well but will never set foot in this location again. read more

After 3 weeks of rock climbing, weight lifting, working, etc, my nails didn't budge! They didn't lift at all. Returned to get a new set, & still a 5/5! Best gel nail experience I've had. I asked for a simple one color and they delivered. Long-lasting with no chipping or peeling for 3 weeks! I had an appointment and was taken care of right away. They had about 5-6 nail techs there that day. Saw a few walk-ins who were also taken care of with minimal wait time. Loved their attention to detail. My nail tech was able to perfectly color match based on an inspo picture for nude nails. Would definitely come back!! read more

I'm always nervous going into a new nail salon, but I had an amazing experience. There was a very friendly atmosphere and my nail tech, Hannah, went above and beyond. She gave me exactly what I asked for and made sure to check that I was happy with it after every step. I got a full acrylic set for $55! I am beyond satisfied and I will 100% be back next month for a fill. read more

Came here for acrylic removal. I called ahead for an appointment. When I went, they didn't even soak my nails, just tried to clip them off and pry the acrylic part off my actual nails. They left my nails completely damaged and as you can see in the photo, the nail on my middle finger was just ripped off as well. It felt like they just wanted to get me out of the chair to free up for other customers. Would not recommend. read more

I got my first ombré dip yesterday and I love them! I don't have my nails done often but I have been here a couple times now and of the places I've gone to have my nails done, Nail Spa Excel has been the better experience. I have gone to other places that charge more and claim to offer nail art, etc but when you ask for what you saw on their website they say they "can't do that". Im guessing it's because they use stock photos from the internet instead of their own as a way to lure people in. While I haven't asked for fancy nail art when I've come to NSE, I've always loved what my nails look like afterwards. I will say the ombré isn't quite what I showed them from the IG photo that I wanted but they are still super cute and I can't stop looking at my hands! read more

I made an appointment for 5:30pm on Wednesday and when I got there they said hello-- I greeted them and said I was there for my 5:30 appointment for a regular pedicure. They didn't say anything so I sat down. No one said anything to me for the next 10 minutes. I feel like I made the appointment for nothing. Also, I wouldn't be writing this review if someone had just addressed me and kept me in the loop with how long I was going to wait. Instead, other customers got their attention and I didn't want to waste more time so I left. read more

I really enjoyed my experience here. Despite having some snafus taking off my existing dip nail polish, I did get a very pleasing ombré nail design using dip powder afterwards. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Will go back! read more

I asked for a dip french tip manicure. I don't know the name of the person who helped me but she skipped the cuticle softening/pushing and the base color that she used (which she insisted was sheer) is a slight sparkly really light pink. I probably should've opted for a single color gel as the photos of those came out better than what I got. Service was ok overall. The place is not the cleanest and I wasn't sure how clean the products were; I think the best way to tell would've been the sanitation of clean products and towels (based on prior experience) but neither was used on my visit. read more

It'll do. This pic was taken 20 minutes after a $28 pedi, she chose not to add any cuticle oil or check her work. Had to ask her to even out both big toes before she began to paint, they were both craggy after she clipped them. I might go back...I want to like them, but for my first experience it's not looking positive. read more

The place itself is small and cozy but in no way dingy or unclean--the space smells beautiful, looks beautiful (cute decor, bright lighting) and is very well organized. Doesn't have the chaos of a lot of other nail salons and definitely feels a cut above the rest. This place sets a new bar of what a 5-star gel manicure means to me. Helena is masterful in her work and gave me the most beautiful bubblegum/glossy pink, your-nail-but-better look. She was thorough and warm yet efficient, and the end result was perfect. She told me she guarantees her work up to 2 weeks and I think that's a great testament to how amazing her quality is. This was my first time here and it definitely won't be my last.

The attention to detail for manicure is minimal, very little cuticle work and nail shaping, color not applied on the entire nail, and my gel started to lift and pill off in less than a week. My pedi was completely ruined after putting on shoes 3hrs after my appointment as there is no drying device; the owner did offer to fix it a day later but that was my wedding day which I had told her the day before, so clearly wouldn't have been possible. Having both mani/pedi done in 1hr is great, but that shouldn't come at the expense of quality.

A recurring theme in my leisure time is difficulty finding parking and this was no exception. I had treated myself to steak and left my car in the parking lot there and walked down the block to my appointment, but have no idea where I would have parked otherwise. I arrived at my appointment an hour early and had seen that walk ins were welcome so I wasn't worried. I was greeted like a welcome friend by the lady at check in and was taken to a private area for my massage. I was instructed to take off my shirt and lay face down on the table. It appeared to be a normal massage table covered in towels and blankets, with a paper towel covering the area where you lay your face. After a moment or two, the gentleman performing the massage came in and got to work. He covered me with a sheet and performed the bodywork over the sheet, not using any lotions or creams. The massage was quite pleasant to be honest. I get regular massages and wasn't really expecting much, so it was a surprise. After the half hour massage, I was told to put my shirt back on and then escorted to a chair. My feet were placed in a warm bucket of water. While they were soaking, the massage room was turned over for the next guest. The half hour massage was very nice too. It was a nice moderate pressure and very relaxing. The steam wasn't my favorite. The position of the steam chamber became uncomfortable after about 10 minutes and 10 more after that, the steam was just too hot and I ended up taking my legs and feet out. I'd like to go back and try the hour accupressure foot massage. But, I need to do a little more research on the parking situation first.

I booked the reservation through classpass for 1:30 and i came 15 minutes early. I could tell the lady wasn't expecting me until she asked if it was classpass. She overlooked the reservation and asked if I can come later around 2:30. I was able to coordinate with her and came back at 2 for the massage, so tip is if you book through classpass i would call to confirm. The interior is small and there is no privacy for foot massages, only shoulder massages. That didn't bother me though, just something to consider. It was my first time getting a foot massage and i thought i would laugh cuz my foot is ticklish but it was very nice and she was very good at it. The shoulder massage was also good as well. I did leave a tip as should everyone, and she did apologize for not seeing the reservation but she was really sweet and definitely a small business to check out!

My husband is working on a film in town and here for a month. I found it very hard to find a reasonably priced nail salon in the Somerville as it is much pricer then in Atlanta and Los Angeles. I read the reviews on this place, called to check their prices. I decided to book an appointment the same day, they were very accommodating. It's a very nice, clean nail salon and they do a great job. I got a fill and gel color for my hands and a spa pedi....excellent!!! They have parking on free street parking, a big deal in that part of town as I've discovered. I highly recommend this place as i'm a veteran to getting my nails done on a regular basis. read more

I love this nail salon!!!! My daughter and I have been getting our nails done at Nail Spa Excel for several years now. They are extremely clean!!! More importantly, the staff at Excel are kind and friendly. I've seen everyone there. They are ALL good. However, we have a special bond with Kevin and his wife, Nancy. Kevin is AMAZING! I had a great experience at The Nail Spa Excel. My pedicure was perfect--the technician took her time to make sure I was relaxed and happy with the result. Kevin did my nails, and he was fantastic. I got builder gel and had him cut and reshape my nails, and he did an excellent job. The cost was very reasonable, which made the experience even better. Another big plus: parking in the attached lot! The spa itself isn't brand new or particularly beautiful, but it didn't need to be. The quality of service made it well worth the visit. honestly best nail salon i've ever been to. i get full set acrylic and it's sooo efficient and they come out great everytime i always get so many compliments. the nail techs r super communicative and always check in to make sure you like them and are super accommodating if u want to change anything. the acrylics r well shaped and on the thinner side so they look super natural and grow out well. i always get simple designs on my nails and they come out so well. cash is preferred if you have, love it here!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
