Cedar plank salmon- one of my favorite meals out of any chain restaurant!
Chelsea E.

I love Famous Dave's-- it has to be one of my favorite chains! We only have one in Ohio so I always get excited when I am traveling and see a Famous Dave's nearby! I was on a road trip with my sister and brother-in-law and we were driving through SD. Figured it would be best to stop in Bismarck since it's the capital and more options to choose from. I of course got very excited when my sis told me there was a FD! I was sold! This FD is bigger than ours in Ohio. Felt like it was newer, but still with the same old vibe that makes it a great BBQ joint! We were seated right away which was great-- it looked like the parking lot was full! I will cut to the chase and say that my meal was great-- which it always is from Famous Dave's (I LOVE the Cedar Plank Salmon, corn bread and fries!). What makes this location lose two stars for me is the service. Our waitress REALLY didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Was very offputting and rude. I haven't had a waitress like that in awhile so it was a turnoff. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt (maybe she just broke up with her boyfriend, maybe she just got in trouble at work? Idk!) But given that this was our only time outside of the car in a 12 hour drive across the state, it would be nice to have someone more welcoming! She also didn't give us silverware right away so our food came out and we asked for silverware. The manager then came over and asked how everything was. We had to tell him we didn't know because we didn't have silverware to eat anything. He quickly brought it out and then our waitress soon followed with some extras that we'd asked for (ketchup, extra sauce, etc). It was still the same great FD meal I'm used to, but the unwelcoming attitude of our waitress really turned me off. I love FD enough that I'd of course go back if I lived in this area. But I was just disappointed in the service. For those who haven't been here before: The Rich and Sassy is my fave sauce. So zesty and flavorful with a hint of sweet! The fries are my fave. I love wedge fries. And the cornbread is cooked to perfection! My only request is that they bring back the drunken apples. Those were also a family fan favorite!

Grabbed lunch here with our family of 5 ( kids are 3, 7, and 12) and ordered the Famous Feasts - Feast for 2 and a cup of chili. It was a generous portion. Food was delicious as expected and the staff was friendly and attentive. Even though we sat in self serve, staff brought our order to the table and cleaned up as well as we finished up. Would definitely dine here again.

Good lunch menu. The two meat combo is solid as well as the urban tacos. Get the pulled pork tacos as they have pineapple in them.

The hostess mentioned it was taco tuesday. I didn't see anything on the menu about tacos so I looked up their website where it's listed. I ordered birria beef tacos and was surprised by what I received. Not sure if this is common to this area or a Lucky's interpretation: cheese is melted onto the outside of a flour shell, birria meat is placed mid-shell w/crema over top. It was tasty. Just very confusing because that isn't what I think of when I think Taco. Overtired and very confused and our waiter really handled it so well. Aside from my taco turmoil my Caeser salad was very tasty and fresh. My dining companion had a half Reuben and chili. The Reuben also was different from our accustomed 'build'. Shredded meat was mixed with dressing (vs thin sliced with saurkraut on top and thousand island dressing as a condiment). We are so far away from home we have no idea is this the ND way? Or the chef's interpretation? No worries. This is a knife and fork sandwich for sure. The chili is topped with Frito cornchips and cheese melted over all. A filling meal. This is a family friendly restaurant with a huge bar and a fun vibe. TV's all around and a few slot games in the bar. There is an actual changing table in the ladies room for diapering. Private parking lot.

They weren't overly busy for a Friday night, and we only waited a few minutes for a table. Right after being seated, they brought out fresh-popped popcorn, which the kids immediately devoured. We also tried the giant pretzel and cheese curds. Both were tasty, though not particularly memorable. The pretzel cheese definitely seemed canned, while the curds appeared homemade--but both appetizers felt a bit overpriced for what you get ($14 for cheese curds seems steep, though maybe that's just the area). Burgers seem to be the star of the menu, with lots of options to choose from. Two of the kids ordered burgers and said they were cooked perfectly. Another ordered the Minnesota Bowl, which was unique but a little underwhelming. The menu describes walleye on wild rice, but it's actually served on white rice with just a sprinkling of wild rice--worth noting for anyone watching their glycemic index. I ordered the walleye tacos, which were quite good. The fresh slaw and special sauce balanced out the spice from the blackening seasoning nicely. Overall: Service was attentive and friendly--our server kept our waters and popcorn filled throughout the meal. The drink menu looked fun, and I'd definitely come back to try one of those and explore more of the menu next time.

I had a very upsetting experience at Broadway Grill that I feel others -- especially those with…read morefood allergies or celiac disease -- should be aware of. This happened a while back, but it bothered me so much I still think about it, so I decided to finally write a review. I ordered a gluten-free pasta dish and clearly informed the waitress that I am gluten intolerant (celiac). When the dish was brought out, I noticed a single regular noodle sitting right in the middle of the pasta. It was visibly different from the gluten-free noodles. Thankfully, I spotted it before taking a bite. Cross-contamination is a serious issue for people with celiac disease, and even one noodle can make us very sick. I asked for the dish to be taken back and explained that I was too nervous to reorder it because I didn't want to risk getting sick. Instead, I ordered a simple green side salad and specifically requested no croutons. A few bites into the salad, I found a crouton. At that point, I was extremely upset and honestly tearful. I informed the manager and explained how serious this is for me. I asked for the salad to be removed from my bill, given that it also contained gluten after I clearly requested it not to. They refused. For anyone with celiac disease or a serious gluten intolerance, this was not just an inconvenience -- it was a health risk. The repeated lack of attention to a clearly communicated medical dietary restriction, followed by the refusal to remove the contaminated item from the bill, was deeply disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes food allergies more seriously in the future and improves its kitchen practices and staff training so no one else has to go through this. Since this experience, I have never been back and would recommend others avoid going back to this restaurant.

I'm sure this place is usually much busier, but I'm happy I lucked out. The staff were so friendly and attentive from the second you walk in, with such a warm welcome by the host. The restaurant felt cozy and still had plenty of diners despite the cold. I had the beet salad with goat cheese and pecans, and the bison braised short ribs. Both were excellent. I make a similar beet dish at home, so it was nice to have something simple, comforting, and genuinely delicious -- it felt like eating at home. The beef was incredibly tender and fell apart easily with just my fork. I also had the vanilla crème brûlée for dessert. It was pretty good, but it was cold, and I usually prefer it a little warm and smoother. Not quite the cozy dessert I was hoping for. That said, they had a great dessert selection, and I'm excited to come back and try something else.

I think the staff was new as they seemed not to have all the information, but they were friendly and more than happy to figure things out. They also were out of a few different menu items but that's to be expected in our current times of backlog and short staff situations, so it didn't bother me. What I got: Bbq Tangler Burger with fries - 4 stars. I loved all the toppings and the amount of fries was perfect, they weren't overflowing and I was able to enjoy them without feeling disgusting afterwards. Wildberry pie - 4 stars. The pie crust was fantastic and the inside was pretty great too. So glad we came on the free pie day.
