We finally decided to stop in and try for the first time Famous Dave's BBQ. Our server, Dawn introduced herself as famous and it turned out she really is! Since it was our first time in she helped us navigate the menu and made some recommendations. We tried the cheese curds as a starter and they were soooo yummy! Next we tried the Feast for Two since Dawn said it had a little bit of everything. Her recommendations did not disappoint! The ribs are fall off the bone and the brisket was moist and tender. Lastly she said the bread pudding would touch our souls and forever change our lives. It did. Our lives have been changed and thanks to Dawn we have a new favorite Sandusky restaurant. We were disappointed by this place. Good news first... Super convenient to Cedar Point. Accessible from both outside the park and inside the park. Large areas that can seat large parties; they easily sat and served our group of 30. It's right on the water with great views of the boats coming in and out. The cornbread muffins are delicious. The pork bbq and fries are really good, as well as the homemade dill ranch dressing. Bad news... The rest of the food was mediocre at best and poor at worst. The brisket stuffed potato was stone cold with room temperature meat on top, and under baked. The coleslaw was room temperature, which was more concerning than the room temperature mac n cheese. 3 stars may be too generous of a review considering the meals we got. But, the properly prepared food we did get was good and the rest of our experience was good. Otherwise, for $100 worth of bbq, we expected better preparation and higher quality. read more

This new location feels disconnected from Cedar Point. The service was extremely slow. It took 40 minutes to get our appetizer... our server never provided refills on our water. The prices seem very high for what you're getting. They've raised their prices and also made the portions smaller. I'll include pics of our salads that were $18 a piece. read more

We went to the new location (attached to Castaway Bay) and it was fantastic! Quick service, hot and fresh food, and the vibes were great with fun music and great views of the water. On one given day of what was to be all that's good we ventured to Famous Dave's for what was to be only how famous can you ask enough that they are doing it so right with all the delicious variations of bbq you can think of! Well to start our server Ariana was awesome she was totally on her game with knowing all the different sauces as well as the menu fully with also being able to answer any of the questions we might have again and again! So we started off with the onion strings as for me onion rings are pretty much a must with BBQ and here was no exception as they are just yummy especially with the many different BBQ sauces they have here at Dave's so these were pretty much your typical onion strings but still super yummy all around so you really can't go wrong with them! The sauces here are what really did it for me as each one was delicious and unique to it's own flavor when it comes to sauces I'm all about that as I just love the diversity between something that's the same but definitely not my favorite of them being the hottest one on the table when it wasn't really hot for me but it might be for some others and if that weren't enough they brought me another sauce that's even hotter and only available by request I forgot what it was called but it was definitely yummy! Now it comes down to the main course the brisket and the chicken both of these were cooked perfectly and just all around delicious BBQ goodness you can ask for as the meat was tender and the brisket was just the way it should be! The fries were fries yummy for what they were and even better with some of one of the different variety of sauces on them to make it all good. The jalapeño mac&cheese was definitely the better of the sides as it just had a great balance to it as it wasn't hot but just flavorful and went well with the BBQ that was beside it! Overall this is a great place to grab some BBQ wile at Cedar Point as it's just outside the park on the marina side so you can come eat some goodness and get right back in as there's another entrance just across the street it's for that reason as I'm sure I'll be back here again at some point for what's good! read more

We thought we'd try Famous Dave's since it moved to the new location. The four of us showed up about 530pm on a Thursday. When we walked in we were greeted with indifference to our presence. Made it past what we determined amongst ourselves to be the takeout counter and proceeded to the next station where we were finally asked "How many?" Again no greeting just business. This was the theme for the evening. Cold, business like service. Not bad just very impersonal. Placed our drink order while looking over menu. Got our drinks and ordered food. The four of us ordered the founders feast which included Georgia chopped pork, 3 ribs, chicken (bbq or roasted), cornbread, fried and coleslaw. The meat was well beyond fresh, edible but mostly dry actually. The rib meat came off the bone but was chewy. Other items were good but nothing exceptional. Overall not a good experience and a little pricy for what you get. Will not go back to this location, might try another Famous Dave's but unlikely. read more

Seemed more expensive than a typical Famous Dave's. Inflated prices could be due to the fact that they are a part of Cedar Point. Food and drinks were good. Restaurant was clean. They have a sink in the dining area where you can wash your hands. Server was nice, even though she didn't know much about the menu. I didn't like how the manager checked on certain guests, but not all of the guests in the restaurant. I think everyone could use some additional customer service training. The restaurant is outside of the park and its situated next to a marina. Definitely give it a try if you haven't done so. It's not great, but it's not bad either. read more

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. Famous Jessica was a wonderful server, great personality and prompt service when it came to refills and sauce requests. The hostess was great as well. She was so friendly and gave us a couple good laughs. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich which was incredible. I opted for the sweet BBQ sauce which I loved. Again, I can't say enough great things. I am so disappointed in my trip to this Famous Dave's. My friends and I wanted a sit down restaurant where we could warm up for a bit, so we came here. We were seated immediately and our waitress took our drink orders immediately as well. She had a weird attitude, I'm not sure if she was trying to be funny or what? But she would swear while talking and just keep a serious face, it was rather weird and I really wasn't fond of it. I ordered the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich with fresh steamed broccoli as the side. When it came out the broccoli was cold, and you could tell it was old because majority of it was brown. For my sandwich I ate it open-faced because I didn't want to eat the top piece of bread. It was okay, it didn't really have that much flavor to it actually. Within the first couple bites I felt something hard in my mouth, and just picked it out, not knowing what it was. In the next bite, I found myself chewing on a full bone in my sandwich. So needless to say I was done with that and ready to leave. Not some place I would ever go again while at cedar point. You are better off spending the same amount of money for their food inside the park. read more

We used to go to famous Dave's when we lived in Ohio a few years ago. We were at cedar point and we decided to go for dinner. The staff was quick to seat us and to take are order. My wife happened to hear a few of the wait staff complaining about other guests. One group Wanted to switch tables. And someone left a tip lower then she thought she deserves. Complaining about customers around other customers is not appropriate. That's why I gave the 3 stars. We ordered the large trash can lid for the family. The food was good and at a reasonable price. YUM! I have never been to a Famous Dave's before this weekend, and now I want nothing more than to go back. My friends and I trekked into this location for lunch and to take a break from the pouring rain in Cedar Point. We were promptly seated and were constantly checked in on by an extremely nice waitress throughout the meal. As for food, our group opted to split the $65 All American BBQ plate, which kind of looked like a pile of food served in a small garbage pan lid. It was a LOT of food, and it was all wonderful! If you order this plate you get chicken, brisket and/or ribs, several sides of your choice and a few other items. Once the meal arrived our group happily dug into plates of meat, Mac & cheese, potatoes, fries, and some of the best corn muffins ever. Someone ordered an appetizer to share that we all loved as well, so Dave's offers consistently good food across the board, it would seem. What else can I say and what else has to be said? The food was amazing and so was the service. The environment's really friendly and laid back. It's a perfect addition to the Cedar Point area, and it's really nice to have somewhere you can go for good food. Be prepared to have leftovers if you don't share things, though - our group had leftovers and we DID share something! By the way, others have mentioned it costs a lot, BUT so does the junk in Cedar Point. At least here you get your money's worth! read more

You know, I was afraid to go to Famous Dave's. Another big barbecue chain. I knew I would be disappointed, so I went in with low expectations. We wanted something modest on our way out of Cedar Point, and it was right on the way- and open, which some things weren't since it's the end of the season and there's construction going on, etc. Service was super. Hannah, our server, was perky but not overbearing, and right on top of things. We ordered the appetizer sampler to share: rib tips, chicken tenders, catfish fingers, onion strings, wings. She explained all the sauces (5 barbecue, plus 4 more with the sampler, so, yeah, 9 sauces- too many.) The sauces... were okay. Their main one, "the one that made Dave famous," was okay. Nothing special. Tomato-based, a little zesty, a little sweet, but not very interesting. The "Sweet and Zesty" was that, but again, didn't stand out. The "Texas Pit" had a black pepper kick and was a bit better. "Devil's Spit" disgusted Sweetie on the name alone, and had a little hot pepper heat, which did build a bit as Hannah said, but really was not spicy. No watery eyes, no gulping drinks, nothing. The "Georgia Mustard" actually had more heat, it seemed, and was probably the tastiest. It was slightly different than other southern mustard sauces I've had, maybe a bit thicker. Not bad. The sampler then added: remoulade (pretty good,) honey barbecue (Sweetie's favorite, sweet, pretty good,) South Side (smoky, a bit of heat,) and bleu cheese (which I used for the veggies.) The rib tips were pretty good- meaty, smoky, flavorful without any sauce. The wings (we got them Buffalo style) were excellent: done just right, meaty, a little spicy. The chicken tenders were very average. The catfish fingers were slightly more interesting, but we didn't finish either of those. The onion strings were tasty and a nice change from all the meat. Hannah talked us into dessert- we got bread pudding. It came out in a huge dish, with ice cream and whipped cream. Plenty to share. It tasted fine, but most of it was soggy so we didn't finish it all. This location is right on the water, with a nice atmosphere inside and out. It's a bit pricy, just like everything else at CP. But you're paying for location, and with great service and decent food, it didn't seem all that bad. read more

For my family of seven to go on vacation in a tourist trap and eat dinner for under $125 bucks I call that a win. The food was really good. We ordered the trashcan lid meals - two of them. We had some leftovers but not much. It's convenient and the view is great. We wanted a real sit down place instead of the park offerings and needed to get out of the rain. We were seated immediately even though the place was crowded for that time & late of night. Our server was attentive, got us our drinks and let us settle in with the menus. Food came super fast - we got a salad, a brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich. All came out, hot and very presentable. The prices are quite higher because of its location than of your normal location so be prepared to pay a bit more. read more

With that said this restaurant offers a large variety barbecue type foods. Everything I had was delicious and the service was outstanding. Let's get the easy part out-of-the-way... The food was good. It's what you would expect from a chain barbecue restaurant. Love the barbecue sauce options. Now for the fun part. I'm not sure which rocket scientist trained their hostess staff but but in a virtually empty restaurant on a marina with beautiful view windows we got sat in the back table 4ft from the kitchen door.... oh! It took the hostess five minutes to figure out that placement. She actually had to bring in reinforcements that is the best they could come up with. We just went to the bar where are the bartender was fantastic. I was high maintenance about the margarita I ordered and she had no problem accommodating me. Everything was going smoothly once we got to the bar then cut to.. The troglodyte supervisor with food stains all over her shirt got into an argument with me over the request for a small bag of ice. I understand that she couldn't do it but she found the need to tell me four times in a row her weird explanation to why she couldn't do it. I was already back to my table and she was still harping at me - I finally said "I heard you the first three time times told me." it was weird. read more

Handicap parking not available. Plan to park a ways away from the actual facility and walk down a trail that's open to the water. Not exactly ideal for the handicapped and young children's safety. Also the floors are extremely slippery. I almost fell several times while wearing tennis shoes and I have absolutely no problem with my gait. I can't imagine someone with a cane being safe there. When I tried to report the issue to the six people standing at the front desk, their response was that they were aware of it. Unsafe and inconsiderate. read more

We drove back into the park after a day at Cedar Park Shores to go to Famous Dave's BBQ. I got the Texas Brisket and Mac and Cheese. The brisket was honestly one of the best briskets I have ever had in my life! I was so full but had to keep eating! Also the Mac and Cheese had corn in it. I didn't think I would like that, but it was soooo good! Our waitress was very good and nice. Next time we go to Cedar Point we will for sure be coming back here! read more

I should preface by saying I am not a bbq person. On a trip to Cedar Point with friends and it's on the grounds. I got the burnt ends sandwich, most of which did not taste burnt. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. The soda? Cost $3.25. If you're hungry and want a place close to Cedar Point, have at it. Otherwise, save your money. A friend of mine showed me how easily you can get to Famous Daves from inside Cedar Point and I've been coming here since. You'll exit from the gate on the side of the park near Raptor. The food is good and has more than ample portion sizes. It's not super cheap but it's much more reasonable than buying $7 hot dogs from a concession stand inside the park. They have a wide variety of sauces on each table and they are all delicious! The hardest part is choosing which ones you're actually going to put on your meat. All of the food I've had is good. It's not my favorite BBQ ever but I never am dissatisfied with my food. It's well air conditioned, clean, and is a great place to sit down and rest in the middle of a day at CP. I've been a fan of the Famous Dave's franchise ever since I tried it out on a previous trip to Minnesota a few years back. Yes, it's a chain, and the food will never quite hold up to an independent bbq restaurant in other parts of the country, but that doesn't mean that there food is bad. On the contrary, they offer up decent bbq at good prices that will satisfy a craving when you just have to have some ribs and coleslaw! The only thing disappointing about this particular location is that they charge a lot more for the same food. This isn't too surprising, since it is located on an amusement park property, which results in tourist food prices. However, they have a good variety of food options, and the ribs, coleslaw, mac & cheese, and Texas toast I had were delicious. There is also lots of seating and a pretty view of the water where you can watch the Cedar Point fireworks at night. If you're too tired to walk over from the park entrance, there is a shuttle that can take you door to door at the front of the park. This is the closest thing you'll get to "real food" on the Cedar Point lot, so if you don't mind the prices, it's worth a stop. read more
