The kabob Very mediocre. The taste of the meat they used was not quit there. You don't exactly get what you pay for either. I feel as though other places will give you enough food so your satisfies. Here hasn't exactly been that way, I've had the need to eat just little bit more to feel satisfied. I've had their food about 3 times Before I did this review, just a side note. The customer service is also lacking. I feel like they just want you to hurry up and get your order in. You don't ever see a smile of any kind. I feel like the owner always wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and comes to work. I will give them a few more try's to see if my view changes about this place, otherwise a solid 2 is right for them. There are plenty of other places who offer better kabob and service. AmaZing Kabob place. I typically go during lunch through the week and get the chicken meal. The chick peas are phenomenal and the seasoning the use is the best. Their dressing and naan is the best I've ever had. I always support local and will support them every chance I get. First time trying this place out and I must say I will be going back. My husband and I both ordered the number 1, which is the chicken breast kabob entree. It included the chicken, brown rice, small salad, chickpeas, naan, and sauces. I'm usually not a big fan of chickpeas but these were definitely an exception. Everything was absolutely delicious! We went around 6pm and there was only one other couple in there. The place appeared clean which I appreciate. The young lady working the register was friendly and we received our order pretty fast. I will say that I wish they would add beef kabobs (not ground beef) to their menu. I usually order that but since they didn't have it on the menu, I had to settle for the chicken. I was so happy to find a decent looking kabob place here in Manassas. But after my last visit I won't be back. I feel bad for the owner too, because his only fault is hiring crappy people (possibly family). I came in to pickup my super combo and the young kid behind the counter greets me by saying, "oh, yeah, you look like the type of guy that orders the super combo." I'm a big guy and I've got no problems saying that, but no way should I be hearing it from some punk cashier. I may have been the type of guy that ordered a super combo from Famous Kabob, but never again. Beware of hiring family. read more

If you told me a month ago that I'd like Afghan food, I'd have said you were crazy. We have some new friends from Armenia, and they talk about some bread they call "Lavash" that is baked while stuck to the side of a clay pit oven. I knew that kabob places cook in this manner so we went stumbled into this place to check out their bread. According to our friends, the bread at this place is not exactly like the Armenian bread, but it's close. It's also very, very tasty. Since our original visit we've been back to this place several times, and in addition to the bread we've tried several of the dishes. And I gotta tell ya that the food is awesome. All the vittles are delicious. One of the touches that I particularly like is the sauces they have. You see pictures of Afghanistan, and all you see is sand and maybe a few goats. There doesn't seem to be as many kabob places in Manassas as in other areas of Northern Virginia, so it's a good thing that Famous Kabob is a good one. I introduced the wife to kabobs a couple of weeks ago near her parents home in Maryland, and she enjoyed them and wanted to try them again. I remembered this place off of Liberia and stopped in. This is your typical "to go" NoVa kabobs atmosphere, with an Afghan influence. They offer "sandwiches" - gyros, or one of their three kabob styles, for $6. Kabob Platters are in the $11-$14 range, not cheap but not the only place where I have seen them at this price level. Platters come with the usual salad and choice of brown or white rice. They offer three main types of kabobs - lamb, chicken, and ground beef. My wife and I got two combo platters, one with lamb and chicken, and one with all three. Excellent kabobs - the lamb is my favorite, but my the chicken is also some of the best I've had and my wife's favorite. They have summac spice on the table to dash on your rice, which always gets bonus points in my book. They offered two sauces, one a slightly sweet mayoish sauce, and the other a spicy green sauce. You can add a veggie kabob to your order for $3.50, a nice option, and they also have a nice selection of traditional Afghan dishes that stray away from the traditional kabob offerings, as well as appetizers. If you're looking for kabos in Manassas, give them a shot. But order to go - they have a nice, clean interior, but rather sterile and not entirely welcoming for dine-in. read more

Stopped in for lunch. They weren't busy so the service was pretty quick. I got the chicken kabob sandwich which is chicken, lettuce, onion, cucumber, tomato, and afghan sauce all rolled up in the afghan bread. So freaking delicious! The chicken was tender, the sauces were awesome, the bread was so yummy, and the chick peas my mom got with her meal were great too. It's not fancy and the dining room was cold but I don't care about that because the food was great and the service was friendly. Will totally be back next time I'm in the area. I love this place!! This is the best kabob place I have been to in NoVA! The amount of food you get for the price is shocking. Sadly I have forgotten the technical name for what I ordered, but basically it was a lamb kabob topped with deep fried carrots. It is simply amazing. The chickpea side dish is also divine! My first visit...first impressions are the place is clean as a whistle. No ambiance here; this place is about the food. Compared to most other kabob joints in the metro area, the prices are on the higher end. The portions are very generous but priced more like a full service restaurant than the counter pick up that they are. I got the super plate to sample more the menue. Everything was delicious! This place is right next to our dry cleaners and ever since it opened, I thought it'd be a good place to try out. Finally we did, opting to try their online ordering for takeout. I had the Super Dish (Chalau (white rice) served with meat sauce (qurma) and one skewer of each of Shami, Chicken and Lamb Kabob) and a Salada. My husband ordered the Peshwari Chaplee Kabob (Ground lamb mixed with chopped onions, green peppers, egg yolk, special dried hot pepper and seasonings) and the Palau (Delicately seasoned pieces of tender lamb under a mound of saffron rice, served with meatball sauce). I thought the chicken and beef were a bit dry, but still had a good flavor and only the beef had a bit of chewiness. The nan was really good and went well with the meal. The meatball sauce I could really have just spooned over rice. It was beef with chickpeas in gravy...and sooooo good. It was a bit greasy but I didn't care because it tasted so good. Especially when you soaked the nan in the sauce. I didn't like the salada at all because it just had way to much onion. I thought it would have more cucumber. But the amount of onion just made it inedible for me. I used a bit of it when I hate the meats with the nan, but even then the onion was just too strong. I didn't try my husband's Palau, but by his reaction, it tasted awesome. I did have a piece of his Peshwari Chaplee Kabob and it was very good. The spices were really strong and had a good kick to them. It definitely woke up the taste buds. The service was really cool. I walked in and the young man behind the counter said, 'who are you?' Some may have thought it was rude, but I thought it was funny. He was very accommodating when I told him it was our first time trying the place. He even offered me free drinks. I declined, but I thought it was a nice offer. Because I finally found a local ethnic place my husband actually likes, I will definitely go back again and try more dishes. Try the super dish! Chicken & lamb are always moist & tender. Love the white sauce / salad dressing. Make sure you get the green sauce too. The gyros are good, but super dish is our favorite. It is very rare for me to be blown away by a meal. Today during lunch at Famous Kabob, I was blown away. I ordered a number 10- which is a combination of lamb and chicken kabobs. It took about 7 minutes for us to get our food, which is pretty good for a kabob place. When I took my first bite of the lamb my mouth immediately began to salivate for another bite. The seasoning was absolutely delicious and it was cooked to a perfect level of tenderness. The chicken was also very impressive. The portions were pretty good for the price, and the rice was tasty. The inside of the restaurant was much nicer than most other kabob places that I have been to. I will definitely come back here to eat, and I strongly recommend this place to anybody. read more

Went on a snowy day with my fam for some carry out and we were ready to go in about 10 mins. The food was completely fresh and warm. The spices were perfectly blended and the two condiments that come along were complimentary to our meals as well. We ordered the boneless chicken plate which comes with seasoned rice, a gyro sandwich, and a chicken sandwich. The sandwiches are actually wraps. The prices were very fair for the large amount of food we got. I definitely want to come back again especially for their lunch specials! Only downside I felt and maybe it was just that day was there was an odd odor when entering but I think it's because it was a snowy day maybe the moisture on the rug? Either way the good was delicious, service was prompt, so head on over. PS This is a "hole in the wall" kinda place so don't expect much with the decor or lack of silverware. Terrible customer service, no greeting no nothing upon walking in. I came in on a Saturday evening with my family and asked for multiple items (standard kabob restaurant items) including chaplee kabob & sambosas and kept being told "we are all out, we don't have" - At one point, I had to ask the girl taking my order, well then what DO you actually have? We were dining in and and several tables were dirty and not cleaned off after customers had left. Food was good but service needs improvement. read more

Today I tried the spinach instead of the rice and it was pretty good. The green sauce has a nice kick to it.
