Solid and quick spot to get some Chinese food along with some bbq meats. Their pork belly was probably our favorite of the char siu and roast duck. Our toddler thoroughly enjoyed the green beans and beef chow fun. The green beans were probably on the slightly salty side. Nonetheless, it was not crowded and easy spot.
I read some positive feedback about Famous Kitchen in the past. While I was in Issaquah, I decided to dine there. The place looked new-ish in a small plaza; several other restaurants are within sight. I yelp-checked every single one of them. All of them hover at about 3.5 stars, plus/minus some. Hmmm. Anyway, I kept the original plans and entered. They have a Chinese BBQ area that was being cleaned for the night, which makes sense. It was nearly 7pm on a Sunday. The menu had mostly ordinary Cantonese varieties with several less common ingredients like fermented bean curd, salted fish, and bitter melon. Always a good sign. When I fished recommendations from the server requesting good 'uncommon' dishes (and I spoke in Cantonese), he still pointed to the 'normal' dish. Fine, I stayed along those lines, too. The food is alright. The prices are at Eastside level. This place is worthy if you don't want to drive out of Issaquah (to Bellevue or CID). If I wasn't in Issaquah, I would not purposely drive here. The Food: Curry Beef Brisket Rice 咖喱牛腩饭, $17.99 - 3.5 Stars Tender-enough beef brisket and daikon cover a massive amount of rice. The curry is thick and pooled just right. The flavor of the curry met expectations. I wish Chinese restaurants understand it is okay to give an appropriate amount of rice instead of a massive amount to avoid waste. House Special Fried Noodle 招牌炒面/粉, $20.99 - 3.5 Stars This noodle dish surprised me that it is closer to 'soy sauce king chow mein' 豉油皇炒麵 that happens to have additional ingredients. Few restaurants serve it this way. Not a good or bad thing per se. The ingredients tend to heavily absorb the soy sauce, and the flavor profile becomes a bit too uniform. On the contrary, some may find this method more flavorful. Salt &Pepper Chicken Wings 脆皮炸鸡翅, $18.99 - 4 Stars These wings ended up being my favorite dish. They have an excellent crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Good flavor, too. They are closer to 3.5 Stars. Nothing in the overall experience stood out to round up the overall rating.
A great restaurant for the area. Thank you to the owners for brining this style of Chinese BBQ. I'm from the birthplace of American Chinese BBQ cuisine (San Francisco) so there's a lot of scrutiny . The food here warmed my heart since it reminds me of the food I grew up with. Try the Royal Chicken. It's moist and tender. Dip in the traditional oil/ginger/scallion sauce for the full experience. Also order the roast duck. If you are looking for a full and happy belly, here's the place at the restaurant or take out for home. As an American, you will also find the food here familiar and well prepared. The service is quick and courteous. The restaurant is a typical fast food restaurant, but with the family experience. Yelp Grading This is my rating system to help you gauge my rating. It is a disservice to over-inflate ratings. I don't want you to be disappointed with your experience. Ratings are based on the kind of business and expectations. A business will be rated in consideration of its intended clients. A To-Go shop or hole-in-the-wall will be compared to similar businesses and rated thus. Anything rated three stars or lower is not worth mentioning. Meh. *** stars - Good overall. This one was a tough one to rate. On the one hand, I loved the menu and the duo of roast and BBQ pork was one of the better versions I have had in the Seattle area, but it's tough to compare to versions in HK, Singapore or even Vancouver. Of the two versions, the roast pork belly was definitely better, crisp but not dry with a good ratio of fat to meat. The char siu , however, was dry and also not very flavorful. Perhaps some sweet soy or a sauce might have helped? One orders at the counter and the food arrives quickly. The place is clean and there is plenty of parking. So would I come back here? Definitely, if I am in the area. But next time, I'll try some other items even though I love char siu.
Normally eat here for the BBQ meats. Highly recommend! Service - was good, no complaints. Food came out fast. Ambiance - your average bbq spot. There are a couple of spots for dining in. Food - the Bbq meats are good. The roasted pork is perfect. Skin is extra crispy and meat is juicy. The duck was good and flavorful as well. Each dish gives you decent portions. All of this fed six people and had plenty of leftovers to bring home.
Famous Kitchen was great find for a spontaneous lunch stop (8/25/24). Clean interior, welcoming counter person. My two top was literally facing the hot case that held the roast ducks, roast pork, other proteins and plate prep area. Clearly they do brisk takeout and onsite dining. It was fascinating to see the interaction between the meat cutter with an older woman ordering takeout. She had specific requirements and quantities of various proteins. I decided on hot tea and a duo rice plate ($17.99). I selected the roast pork, roast duck with steamed rice, flavorful sauce, and baby bok choy. Wow - this was fantastic! It reminded me of a plate entree I had in Richmond, BC. The meats were so succulent, generous rice, and nicely steamed bok choy. The menu has a variety of other entrees, I just happen to fixate on the roasted meats during this initial visit, lol. I'm still thinking about this lunch. Definitely recommended!
As someone who is Cantonese, I appreciate going to a place on the eastside that has food from one of my home country. Cantonese food is more tough to find as Szechuanese and Taiwanese foods are taking over. But I was fascinated by this place. The sweet and sour chicken has a nice flow of flavor that tasted amazing and the trio was even better. The Char Siu and the duck are spectacular. I will definitely be back to take more of my family here
Having recently moved from Bellevue to the peaceful town of Issaquah, I had to say goodbye to the convenience of Bellevue's vibrant Asian restaurant scene. Luckily, I discovered Famous Kitchen, which offers some of the most delicious Cantonese dishes and roasted meats (duck, pork, chicken). My favorite--the roasted duck--did not disappoint. Unlike other places where the duck is mostly bones, the portions here are very meaty, and the flavor is perfectly balanced--just the right amount of seasoning without being too salty. We've explored several other dishes on the menu, many of which we've never seen or heard of anywhere else. It's definitely a hidden gem, offering a unique and flavorful dining experience.
Been craving beef chow fun and this was the best option in Issaquah. It was delicious but a bit heavy on the oil so had to drink a lot of hot tea after. Have had their roast duck before and that was also good. Would like to go back and try other items on their menu. We don't have many Chinese restaurants in Issaquah so if you haven't tried this place it's a great option without having to drive all the way to ID especially when it's so rough down there.
All right, here's the TLDR: fantastic roast duck here and nothing else stood out. Went for a weirdly timed meal with a few friends on a Saturday around 4 PM and Famous Kitchen was empty besides us, but quite a few people rolled in to pick up to-go orders. The food came out exceptionally fast and there's plenty of parking in the huge shopping plaza they're located in. Signature Duck (4.5/5): Super fatty, moist, savory, and perfect amount of salt (which for this dish is a lot). Outstanding roast duck and the pricing is fairly reasonable. Keep in mind, this isn't Peking style, so it's not the crispy skin type. Roasted Pork (3.25/5): I appreciated how crunchy the skin was, but the actual meat itself was a bit too tough and chewy for my preference. Honey Char Siu (3.75/5): Solid char siu, some pieces that were fatty were really amazing, but others were a tad dry. Flavor was fairly solid with good balance between salty and sweet. Beef Chow Fun (2.75/5): Noodles were overcooked and dish was insanely bland for some reason. Beef was very tender which was great, but couldn't make up for the lack of flavor.
I was drawn in by the high reviews and praises of this place having "the best BBQ" but this is very much not it. Some of the worst Cantonese BBQ I've had. Got takeout and all of the meats were bland. Roast pork was all fat, pretty sure they gave us the low quality end piece (see pic for reference). It's overpriced too. Place was empty when we entered and probably for good reason. Despite it being empty, it took a while to get my order.
Stopped by for a quick dinner pick up. I got roasted crispy pork, bbq cha siu pork and noodle with beef. Truthfully i was excited and had high expectations after reading the other reviews. The service was quick, perfect for a fast dinner. However the dishes were very oily, especially the duck and noodles. I personally will consider other places.

I am obsessed with Kau Kau in the International District, so when I learned there was a Chinese BBQ spot that had a similar menu on the eastside, I bookmarked that shit immediately. AND, now that I work part-time in Issaquah, it was only fate that brought Famous Kitchen and me together. I visited Famous Kitchen for lunch takeout before heading into the office and fortunately, I was one of the few patrons inside, so it didn't take long for my order. I ordered the dual combination of roasted and honey BBQ pork, which came with rice and baby bok choy. For the two meats, they give you about half a pound each, which was a hefty amount. I ended up eating half and taking the rest home for dinner. The meat was fantastic! I really enjoyed both meats, but roasted pork was so bomb. If you like pork belly, with some fattiness to it, then you will like the roasted pork here. The fat added great flavor and it was perfectly crispy yet tender. The honey BBQ pork was also delicious, and went well with the roasted pork since it had a different texture. I also loved that with the bed of rice, there was a sauce from the meats that drizzled down, adding to the dish. Plus, they have chili oil that you can ask for on the side, which I recommend adding. Spice up you life! I'm glad Famous Kitchen offers some Chinese BBQ meats that I can find on the eastside. In addition to BBQ meats, the menu was extensive, with many different items, from wonton soup, different fried rice dishes, to wok entrees. I'll definitely have to work my way through the menu, but you can count on me to get my roasted pork on! read more

Came here around 12:45pm on a weekend at. The service was great and was greeted right away and answered all only questions. I ordered the roast pork. I ordered 1/2 lb. The skin was very crispy. The flavor tasted like just pork and fat. It didn't taste like the 5 spice I was used to in other roasted pork, which is okay. I also had half a roast duck and that was tasty as well. The skin was nice and crispy, the meat was moist and flavorful. I did enjoy my order except the fat from the roast pork, but I will definitely come back. The service was good and I was greeted when I came in and he answered all my questions since it was my first time. I was out in about 5 minutes which was great because I had to go back to work! :) read more

Coming home with 1lb of bbq pork and duo rice box with bbq pork & roasted pork. Total is about $40. Nothing is cheap in Greater Seattle. At least, I got good taste for my money from here. The shop is clean and spacious. Cashier and order service is friendly and easy. Tips: mixing 1tsp of honey and rose wine as dipping sauce for the bbq pork completes the flavor. read more

Famous Kitchen is the latest new restaurant on the Eastside serving up Chinese BBQ. The fact that I don't have to travel all the way to Chinatown when I'm craving some char sui is a win! While known (or should I say "famous") for their BBQ items, they also have a selection of noodles, rice dishes, congee, soup and a number of chef specials. Pay special attention to the small thumbs-up icons on the menu board which indicate the restaurant's recommendations. We picked up two items for dinner on a Wednesday evening. + Honey Char Siu ($11.99/lb): A full container of sliced BBQ Pork provided enough for four of us with leftovers for the next day. We appreciated how the pork retained its natural color (as opposed to the common artificial red) and a light honey glaze gave it a perfect hint of sweetness. While it seemed like they trimmed off most of the fat, we unfortunately felt that the meat was on the drier side, but still tasty overall. + Beef Chow Fun ($13.99): After the first bite, all signs pointed to a perfect chow fun - not too oily, not too salty and the noodles had a nice chew. However, the beef was rather disappointing. It was pretty tough and contained a couple pieces I couldn't even gnaw through. For being sliced so thinly, the meat should have been tender, so the texture made us question the quality of the beef. The staff was friendly and we didn't have to wait long before our food was ready. I will note though that the prices here seem higher than average compared to other Chinese restaurants or BBQ spots. For example, $29 for a whole roasted duck and $14 - $16 for fried rice is considerably steep. The next time I return, I'd like to try some of their Chef Specials which range from about $13 - $16. Looking forward to their Walnut Shrimp and Salt & Pepper Squid sooner than later! read more
3 words: Shoyu Chicken Legs! This is my favorite thing to get from Famous Kitchen. It's so nice for people on the Eastside serving up traditional Chinese BBQ. Now, I don't have to drive to the International District for some roast pork, char siu/bbq pork, and roast duck. Every time I come here, I always have to get 2 to 3 chicken legs. I love the soy sauce it's marinated in and I always favor dark meat over white. I love eating it with rice or just going keto and eating it as is. In addition, I'll order a pound of roast pork from time to time. The roast pork has a good fat to meat ratio, but recently I've been asking for a leaner cut. New year, new me! The only drawback is that the roast pork can be overly salted on occasion. I wish it wasn't as over seasoned and this roast pork would be perfect. Beyond the Chinese BBQ, they also have a large menu of items. I've had their beef chow fun and house special fried noodles. I've had this multiple times and it's so convenient when I'm craving comfort food. It's great to order Chinese food so close to my house. read more
I been wanting to try this place for a long time so when the opportunity arises, I took it :) The place itself is pretty nice and it looks like they do dine in, but we order takeout. The food was ready by the time we came and it was nicely packaged. The food is pretty good, definitely some hit and misses: 1lb roast pork: seriously the best roast pork I had in a very very long time. The skin was perfectly crispy the whole time with no sign of getting soft. The meat was juicy (you can seriously see the juice) and tender and the flavor was on point. 1lb honey ribs: pretty good, the meat is tender and flavorful. Rice trio combo (roast duck, shoyu chicken, charsiu): this is definitely a nice way to try a bunch of meats without getting 1lb. However, the meats weren't as good as I hoped. The big disappointment was the charsiu. It was thick cut, dry and bland, almost inedible. The roast duck and shoyu chicken was just standard in texture, a little bland, in my opinion. Beef brisket noodle soup: I really like that they have the soup on the side because I actually like eating it dry and slurping the soup after. It was definitely better than eating it as a noodle soup in my opinion. The brisket was tender and flavorful and the noodle was perfect for the meat. The big star (aside from the roast pork) though was the plum sauce. I literally use it for everything, I even save the leftovers to bring home to use as well. Overall, it was a pretty good place and it's nice that it's on the Eastside so don't have to drive to seattle anymore :) read more
Certainly if I can obtain char siu without crossing over into Seattle then of course I'm coming here. The meat was pretty lean and decent, although cut in a chunky fashion, which doesn't help to accentuate some typically expected charred and crispy exterior. They offer other traditional BBQ/roasted meats including roast pork belly, chicken and duck, which everyone has been going crazy for as well. The meat of the beef chow fun was excellent, but the noodles were bland for me in contrast to everyone's hyped up reviews. I'm confused as I'm pretty sure I received lo mein for my Shanghai style fried noodles...definitely not what was pictured by past reviewers...but at least it was still flavorful and plentiful. The salt and pepper squid was light, but could've use an extra kick of salt and pepper for more flavor, which I easily took care of at home. Being new and in high demand for the area, this place was busy almost right away as I picked up my Sunday morning order. Read the other reviews, prepare for a little wait on your orders. I'll give them another shot, and hope things will be even better the second round. read more
We got the rice combos, one with bbq pork and roasted pork and the other with just bbq pork. The rice combo comes with 1-3 meats of choice with rice and a lil bit of bok choy. I kind of wish there were more vegetables or at least a small variety instead of just bok choy but that means there was a lot of meat and rice in the container. I'd say you're getting your money's worth with how much you get. I think the taste is good and was flavorful but was quite salty. It's located in an area behind Costco and is kind of the only restaurant around there so it wasn't busy at all and the food came out quickly. The service was nice and we enjoyed our meal there. I might try a different meat if I were to come here again but hopefully the meal won't be as salty if I do. read more

As the first and only Chinese bbq joint in Issaquah, Famous Kitchen has the potential to be huge. They're currently in soft opening mode and my mom and I stopped in today to check them out. They're a little slow and disorganized since it's only their second day, so I won't ding them on that. I'm sure they'll work out the kinks in time. The restaurant is pretty simple and minimal, with about six tables inside. Pretty sure most of their business will be takeout. The menu is fairly extensive and all the usual suspects are represented, from wonton noodle soup to fried rice to congee. Let's get to the nitty gritty. We came for the bbq! We sampled the roast pork, which was super juicy and flavorful with that crispy skin one expects. A+ there. We ended up ordering a combo rice box with half duck and half char sui. The char sui was fantastic, but the duck missed the mark. Out of the three meats, it had no discernible flavor, not even salt. Would definitely pass on that next time. Prices are slightly higher than similar restaurants in the ID, but you're paying for the convenience of not having to drive to Seattle or Bellevue to get your bbq fix. Will definitely be back to see if service speed is better and to try other menu items. Overall, happy to have this as an option in the neighborhood! read more

Came here on Easter Sunday at 11:20a and they were already out on the Signature Duck. Don't let the picture available fool you. While they may have it, these ducks are already "sold out." According to the guy at the front, they are already sold out before they open. Wow. And the second batch will not be done until 2p--and even so, no reservation can be made for that. First come, first serve. They have a good crowd of people supporting the business with phones ringing off the hook. If you order the BBQ items, do not expect fast order like other BBQ place, where you order and pay, they chop up right away and you're on the way. With the limited selection available, we purchased the sautéed duck and honey char siu. Just expect a long wait time from the time after you order--at least 60+ mins. Prob better off going to the ID instead. Not really convenient, even though it's the only option in the Eastside. Pro tip: if you call the previous day, you can preorder the items for the following day. Probably best to call during non-peak hours. I'll be back to try the other items when all the kinks are worked out. read more

Incredibly authentic spot!! So glad I came to try this place out. Service was really friendly and efficient. Our food came so quickly and everything was fantastic. My family ordered a variety of dishes including beef chow fun, bbq pork, roasted pork, and green beans. Everything tasted authentic - my mom was raving about it too! They were even nice enough to accommodate adjustments since we requested less oil on the green beans. Such a superb meal! read more
Ordered the wonton noodle soup and the bbq pork with rice. I LOVE shrimp wontons. When I opened the bowl I immediately gagged due to the smell of rotten shrimp. It was offensive. I thought that maybe I was being overly sensitive, but it was inedible. Super fishy. This isn't a personal preference as I eat all seafood; this was clearly bad. The bbq pork was all fat and gristle. I couldn't even chew through it. I've had better bbq pork from Safeway. The price? Everything on the menu is over $15. Soup shouldn't be that expensive. 2 items cost me $40 and it all ended up in the trash. I'm not quite sure who's giving this place such high star ratings. read more
Authentic Hong Kong style cuisine. They cater mainly for takeout orders. The orders are always correct and efficient. The price may seem higher but there an unwarranted expectation that Chinese food should be inexpensive. This means that they use high quality ingredients and they will be in business longer. The Shanghai noodles are excellent! The serving size is quite generous and it's better than Din Tai Fung's version. read more
Decided to grab some dinner here on a Friday so that I didn't have to cook. Was looking through Yelp pictures the night before, so I already knew what I wanted to try. I went late afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all. I went with the Duo Combo with the Roasted Pork and Honey Char Siu. Service was quick and friendly. It was a good portion with a decent amount of rice. The meats were tender and not dry. Although I didn't feel like there was any strong flavor, I really liked it, and maybe more so because it tasted really good dipped in my hot sauce at home. 3 years ago I went for the first time and wasn't impressed with the quality of food, especially considering the high price they put out with. Today I gave them a second try and it was even worse! Look at the chicken in the attached photo, dry and old. On top of it, it's extremely salty!! They had us waited for half an hour for it and this was what we got?! It's a take-out so we didn't bother driving back to get the refund. Do NOT go there. It's a piece of crap. Definitely NOT genuine Cantonese food!!! read more
Super excited for an authentic tasting Cantonese joint but I'm only giving 3 stars because I feel it's really pricey. Things on the Eastside tend to be typically overly priced and I'm so over it. Ordered the beef chow fun and honey char siu and I was not disappointed in the either The beef chow fun came out piping hot with that undeniable wok-flavor. Oh it was so good but as I ate it, I cried inside because it really should not cost $16 for beef and noodles. And the char siu ($15/lb) was lean and delicious. But with tax and tip lunch came out to be fairly expensive for just two dishes. Overall, I am excited to have an authentic Cantonese place located nearby. read more

We picked up dinner here last night and the first time was definitely much better. I'm not sure if they just had an off day yesterday, but their roast pork was EXTREMELY salty. Like if you ate piece, you would have to take 2-3 bites of rice to balance that out. It was as if they accidentally salted it twice or more. Also the meat to fat ratio was also very off. It basically was like eating fat with a hint of meat. The only thing good about it was the crispy skin. We ended up ordering 1/2 pound of roast pork, 1/2 of a shoyu chicken, yang zhou fried rice and the honey walnut prawns. The fried rice was just okay, the rice was a little on the hard side. Definitely not worth $17. We tried the beef chow fun last time and it also wasn't that great either, I would pass on this unless you are dying to eat this particular dish. The honey walnut shrimp was actually pretty good but shouldn't be the highlight at a BBQ place. It really wasn't that much food, and the total was almost $70. $70! This was mainly because the fried rice was $17 and the prawns were $20. Which I guess okay, inflation and the fact that this is the only Chinese BBQ place in this area so they can get away with crazy prices? I think if you were to come here it would definitely be way more worth doing the combos - 2 or 3 items. We got that the first time and they came with a decent amount of meat with rice and some bok choy. So if it's only you or two people this would be the way to go. Maybe also double check that they didn't over salt the roast pork that day as well. read more

I'm sad that it seems yet again my rating of this place goes down. Disappointed by the lack of transparency on price and their response to that. Ordered 1/2 roast duck and 1/2 lb. roast pork in the store. They basically add 2 dollars more if you only get 1/2 a pound or 1/2 a duck. I understand the reason they do so, but that needs to be on the MENU or told VERBALLY to the customer at the register. If you only write $15.99/lb, it is assumed that 1/2 will be $7.99. No, got charged $9.99 . We pointed this point and said that they should be clearer with their customers. Staff basically brushed it off and tried to placate by offering extra pieces of meat. The cashier appeared to speak fluent English. That was frustating for me. The complaint is not about the amount of meat, it's about communicating the correct price. There was no "sorry about the confusion." There was no "we will try to be clear." If they usually tell people and just forgot, I wouldn't know, bc they just kept saying "want more meat?" instead of any acknowledgement. Eventually they answered "we understand." Please, next time just say that. The person eating with me was clearly upset about the charge not matching the menu, and I get it. Angry customers are not pleasant. But she never yelled and was articulate about the problem. Tbh we should have taken the offer of extra pieces. But the feedback wasn't about the taste or the amount of food. Just looking for some acknowledgment that if the price is different from the menu, you gotta let people know The food, still same opinion! I like the pork, the duck is not as tasty as my pref. It's a bit pricey, but things in the world have costed more in general for reasons out of anyone's control... and honestly the service possibly soured my taste a little. Food were good enough and met our expectations of authentic Cantonese food. 3.5 stars. They only had 3 boring choice of Seasonal Vegetable. When I asked for the Chinese mustard greens(jiè cài), the guy didn't even know what that is. The sauce for the Royal Chicken was mostly oil with little bit of green onion, hardly any ginger at all, and very salty! Really? $30 for a chicken but too cheap with ginger? read more
Great BBQ without having to drive to the International District! The BBQ duck plate had tons of juicy and meaty pieces, enough for 3. The Rice Trio also featured tons of great meat and plain white rice. Only meh was the Chinese Donut which is like a churro without flavor. Prices were commensurate with the portions and quality. read more

The roast duck noodle soup was excellent. Generous portion of duck, properly roasted in Cantonese style. (It was a good sign that the people who work there spoke Cantonese!) Flavorful soup and noodles that had the right amount of "bounce." The wontons in the wonton noodle soup were only okay - definitely recommend getting the roasted meats here! Service was quick and friendly. Not sure if the disposable serving bowls and utensils are due to COVID, but would be nice if they used real dishes and utensils for more of a restaurant feel. Yes, it is a little pricey, but for the convenience (if you live in the area) of not having to go to the ID, probably worth it. Am authentic Cantonese experience in Issaquah? I've bookmarked this place for a couple weeks and finally get to try it out. It is very close to Costco so perfect for pick up after grocery shopping. The store is very simple and clean. We tried the roast pork and it was very crispy and tasty. It was perfectly moist. We will be back to try other items. read more

Conveniently located near Costco in Issaquah with easy parking. A small restaurant with a few tables open for dining in (very spaced out for social distancing). Food is served very quickly. ROAST PORK was definitely the highlight! It's one of the best in the area. The skin is crispy, but not hard and doesn't hurt your jaw. The lean part of the pork is still soft, tender and moist. I would come back for this for sure! The roast duck was good too! Good balance of meat & skin, yummm. I think we were just too in love with the roast pork though, so the duck didn't stand out as much. Overall, the duo combo portion was pretty good. I would highly recommend this restaurant for Cantonese BBQ. I'm definitely coming back to try more items! read more
