Royal Kitchen is my favorite spot for dim sum! I usually start every meal with a pot of chrysanthemum or jasmine tea. I also really appreciate that they ask whether you'd like tea before bringing it out, so you're aware there's a charge. A lot of dim sum restaurants automatically serve tea and add it to the bill without asking, so I like the transparency here. Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. My favorites are the shrimp shumai and sticky rice, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried. The customer service is always friendly and attentive, and there's plenty of parking, which makes every visit easy. If you're looking for delicious dim sum at a great value, I highly recommend Royal Kitchen! It gets very busy throughout the day, so go early! read more

Royal Kitchen is a decent place to go if you're craving dim sum in the Bellevue area. I went with my family around 3pm and it was not busy on a Thursday. We ordered shrimp rice roll, har gow, football, shrimp with eggplant, shrimp with bell pepper, spare rib, Xiao long bao, sautéed pea tips, chicken feet, meatballs, shrimp and chive dumplings, tripe, and mango pudding. I really liked the filling in the football, which contained ground pork and mushrooms, not so much the flour for the outer layer. I also liked the tripe, pea tips, and chicken feet. They were delectable. Other than that, it seemed a bit plain. I didn't really like the chili oil they used, it was more like a sambal. I'm glad we ended with the mango pudding for dessert. ROYAL KITCHEN @ BELLEVUE (crossroads) Parking is pretty tight here, especially on the weekends when it gets super busy. Luckily, we were able to find a spot right out front, so I'd recommend slowly circling around and keeping an eye out for people leaving. I found this spot through Yelp and had been really craving good Chinese food, so I was super excited to finally try it. My family and I came without a reservation and were seated immediately, even though the restaurant was very busy. This place is definitely known for larger parties, there were lots of families and extended families dining together, which really gave it a classic family-style vibe. You order a bunch of dishes and share a little bit of everything, which I love. The staff were really friendly and greeted us right away with complimentary tea. Fun fact: in the mornings, tea is sometimes an extra charge, but in the evening it's free. We ordered a few dishes, including the honey walnut shrimp (which is my go-to order at any Asian restaurant), salt and pepper squid, house special vermicelli noodles, and Chinese broccoli. The vermicelli was a clear noodle dish loaded with different proteins like BBQ pork, squid, and shrimp. Everything had great flavor, but my absolute favorite was definitely the honey walnut shrimp. It was perfectly crispy and delicious. My only complaint is the portion size for the price, it was about $21 for roughly 10 pieces of shrimp, which felt pretty expensive. Overall, the portions were on the smaller side for what you're paying. Toward the end of the meal, they treated us to a complimentary papaya soup, which was a light, fruit-based dessert soup and a really nice way to finish. Our total came out to about $80, so it's definitely on the pricier side for Chinese food. CHECK your bill here!!!!!!!! We took our daughters from out of town for Sunday dim sum. Longtime family tradition!! And while we have often gone to the CID In Seattle, for many years and almost exclusively in recent years we have gone here and the previous business at the same location. Today the service and food was fantastic and ordered so much it almost didn't fit on a 4 top table. We love leftover dim sum! But at the end of the meal they brought me the completed card with a total at the bottom. Didn't look beyond the total before tip and just gave the nice (very young) hostess my card. A server brought back just the two credit card slips and the price was seemingly $20 more than what was presented to me on the service card!?? I politely asked to see the bill again and then a longhgggh wait...... Then a heavily altered card was brought back showing the new total. I was not happy suddenly and asked why it was altered from the first one etc and a big argument from the server began that I didn't proliferate but she kept on and on and could not explain why all the changes by pen and saying that she was honest etc. insisting we "do the math" over and over Now we may have ordered that much food, but I know for a fact that the bill was clean written without alterations and $20 less than the corrected one. But still she couldn't give me a valid explanation for the changes and new total. In my opinion the high school age hostess made a mistake adding up before presenting the total to me and someone else edited it before running my card. If they had just admitted that I would not have been so disappointed. I went here with family the day before Christmas Eve in a group of 5 and got seated after a couple of minutes since all the larger-party tables were taken or being bussed at the time. Got the usual shrimp dumplings, siu mai, chicken feet, radish cakes, beef tripe, pork stomach, Chinese donut rice roll... pretty much the same things I got from a previous visit here. Only difference was the addition of fried calamari, which was tender, soft and piping hot when it came out. Service is still fast just as before despite the sheer number of people taking their PTO and coming here to eat. This place shares parking with Kin Dee, Cathay Bank and other businesses, and is not too far from Ramen Nori and Dan Gui. This is not my first visit here... it might even be my nth or so visit here (where n is larger than 10 since 2017) because of the number of times I've been in the Bellevue area with family. Definitely a solid three stars. I think the thing that gets me is that restaurants like this one almost requires you to speak cantonese or you get a totally different experience. For example, there is definitely a dish here that's not in the menu but something if you have a good conversation you can get. Service is ok? Understaffed as usual and just lots of tables so when you go when it's busy expect service to be delayed. The food I think is decent. Probably a four stars on food but with everything else balances out at around 3 stars. The ambiance, well I think my watch triggered a noise warning so it's definitely not someplace that is quiet. The service here was extremely disappointing. The servers were rude and unprofessional from the start, no greeting, just handed us a paper to mark down our order. And I specifically asked for no pork, yet the shrimp rolls still had bits of pork in them, which was very frustrating and felt careless. To make things worse, it took about 10 minutes before anyone came over when we were ready to check out, only to find out we had to pay at the front (something no one mentioned). Pretty decent dim sum in the Bel-Red/Crossroads area of Bellevue. No carts pushed around, you order from a menu and the food comes out hot and fresh and very fast. Sorry no pics, was too hungry, but our favorites were the pork siu mai dumplings that were stuffed with meat and shrimp, the stick rice that also came stuffed with meat, and the BBQ pork pastry that was so flaky and delicious. Dim sum review only. Previously this spot was King's Chinese restaurant, I'm guessing it really just changed ownership or management, because the interior hasn't changed much to me. We only come for dim sum and I've gotten take out dim sum from here as well. Be warned, weekends are super busy, so we usually come early or late. They do have a Yelp waitlist kiosk to sign up at the entrance. The dim sum is pretty decent. I'm not sure if they use the same chefs/cooks from the previous owner, but it doesn't seem different to me. You just order on the form they hand you when seated. So there are no carts (honestly, I wish they would bring those back). The food is served promptly, which I appreciate, since I'm usually hungry when we're there. Our usual order includes Shumai, Har Gow, Shrimp & Chives dumplings, Spare ribs with black bean sauce, Bean curd rolls, and soy sauce chow mein - so I can attest that these are good. Excellent Cantonese dinner here in the 'Irvine of Seattle'. Bok Choy with oyster mushroom was lightly seasoned and sautéed, very delicious. Seafood tofu clay pot was also a winner, with higher seafood-to-tofu ratio than other restaurants. The steamed whole fish (black sea bass), lightly sauced and perfectly flakey, was our favorite. Love this place for dim sum! I grew up in NYC and this place has the same vibe as a lot of restaurants in Chinatown, so it felt familiar and comforting. There was a bit of a crowd and about a 5 minute wait, so we were seated quickly. No, they're not going to wait on you hand and foot here, especially when it's busy, but the service isn't bad, either. We came here recently for a Sat AM dim sum, and were not disappointed. We filled out the ordering slip left on the table, sipped some jasmine tea, and within a few minutes we had piles of food before us. The shrimp dumplings were a delicious trip down memory lane. We shared some pork dumplings, and they were just as yummy. Steamed pork buns and sweet red bean cake were also very good. We finished off with some egg custard cream buns, which were perfect. We came to Royal Kitchen to test them out. I feel they did well enough for us to come back. Their service was good for a Chinese restaurant on the eastside. We came in the late morning and tried the dim sum. The portions were generous and the food was very good. Tasty hargow and shumai along with chicken feet were just a few of the choices we made. These are the standard dim sum choices. I believe they did adequately enough to warrant a return. The restaurant layout is not much changed since we last came many years ago when they had a different name (and possibly a different owner). Royal Kitchen took the place of the old Kings Chinese Restaurant off of Northup Way. My family had been when it was Kings and also once earlier this year when it converted to Royal Kitchen, but we honestly weren't super impressed as the food wasn't very tasty and the dishes weren't all that clean. With few Cantonese restaurants to choose from on the Eastside though, especially now that Red Bamboo closed, my family decided to give Kings a second chance. My family came here for dinner this past Sunday night a little before 6pm, and the restaurant was PACKED. We were surprised at how crowded it was considering that it wasn't even prime dinner time hour yet. They have a waitlist kiosk, but we ended up waiting at least 15-20 minutes for a table. Kings has a good array of standard Cantonese dishes including honey walnut prawns, hot pots, whole fish, Peking duck, fish maw soup, egg drop soup, hotpot, chow fun, chow mein, etc.. They also may be the only restaurant on the eastside that serves dim sum all day and night (usually you have to go to International District if you want evening or late night dim sum). We ordered the FISH MAW SOUP, the SEAFOOD TOFU HOT POT, half a PEKING DUCK, DRIED SCALLOP FRIED RICE, and GARLIC PEAVINE. The FISH MAW SOUP was nice and hot. It had lots of fish maw pieces, and a nice thick consistency. However, the soup was slightly under-salted. While better than being overly salted, we had to add table salt to it to fully enjoy the soup. The SEAFOOD TOFU HOT POT (my favorite dish) was very generous in seafood (shrimp, scallop, squid, fish) and also had fried tofu, mushroom, and napa cabbage. I used to get this dish all the time at Red Bamboo, but since they closed, I have not found a restaurant that makes it the same way they do. While this hot pot was better (and much more generous) than the ones I've tried at Top Gun, Mai Place, and Yummy Garden, it still fell flat in taste. The slurry (sauce) was quite bland and needed more seasoning. The PEKING DUCK also fell somewhat flat. It was passable, but the duck needed to be marinated more. The skin also just wasn't as crispy as it should be. It came with the standard hoisin sauce, scallions, and white buns. The DRIED SCALLOP FRIED RICE was fantastic. It was very flavorful with lots of shredded dried scallop on the top, giving the dish lots of umami and savory flavors. It also had pieces of Chinese broccoli stem (gai lon) and green onion. Lastly, the GARLIC PEAVINE was excellent. It probably ties with the dried scallop fried rice in terms of the best dishes we had that night. The peavine was green, tender, and perfectly marinated in garlic sauce. I would order this again. The restaurant is in alright shape. There are chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, but there is not much other decor besides a few Chinese New Years posters. The bathrooms are clean, but the doors to the bathroom and stalls are uncomfortably sticky... Service was great once we got seated. They were quick to bring out our food and brought all our dishes out at once. The waiter refilled our tea and also brought out complimentary warm tapioca dessert at the end of our meal. While this visit was a much better experience than our last, some of dishes were still a miss for us. With that said, Kings serves much bigger portions and uses higher quality ingredients than its other competitors on the Eastside, and at a comparable, if not slightly cheaper price. My son and I were walk-in customers at 11:15am on a Saturday, the weekend before Christmas. Only a ten minute wait. The place was very busy. Got a pot of jasmine tea which arrived within 2 minutes of asking. We ordered seven different types of dim sum choices, and we didn't have to wait long at all for the dishes to arrive. Our favorites were the pork dumplings sui mai, the chicken feet with black bean sauce, and the egg rolls. Everyone we encountered was friendly with a smile, and helpful even with our language barrier. We had plenty of leftovers to take home for dinner later. The food here is consistently delicious. Terrible dining experience at Royal Kitchen Seafood Restaurant. They closed out our bill before all our dishes even arrived, which felt very unprofessional and disrespectful. The service was poor, with staff showing little regard for customers. When we checked the bill, we found that they had overcharged us, resulting in a confusing and inaccurate total. After pointing out the issue, they refunded $36.25, but the whole experience left a bad impression. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall just outside of Bellevue this dim sum spot offers a wide variety of choices and each came out piping hot. Instead of the usual har gao we opted for the shrimp and scallop style and it was good with a nice amount of shrimp and scallop tucked inside a thin layered wrapping. The tofu skin was another of our top picks as were the chicken feet. The stuffed eggplant was just OK as was the taro football with minced pork. The price point was good and judging by the packed crowd you can tell it's a favorite place to eat. We just ordered seafood crispy chow mein , and a dim sum dish...fried mashed taro ball The size of the noodle dish was generous, probably at least 50% more than most restaurants. Seafood included shrimp, fish filet, and calamari with bok Choy. Sauce was not very flavorful and contained a lot of cornstarch which made it gooey. Probably will try something else next time The fried taro balls were tasty. I have had better, but a lot of dimsum restaurants don't offer this dish. We also ordered green tea.
