    Steamed Prawn Dumplings ($8.95)
    Courtney L.

This popular restaurant from Canada established its first location in Bellevue, much to my excitement. I've been to their original location across the border, so I arrived hungry and ready for the dim sum that I had fond memories of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite being open for several months now, the hype has not died down. It is completely packed during the weekends![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Three of us came at 11:30A and put our name on the waitlist only to find that we were 26th in line! This said, the wait was a bit over one hour. They have a promotion that rewards diners with a 10% discount if they check out before 11:00A, so it may be worth it to come early to accept this deal and avoid the crowds. When we received a text, the host led us to our table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area is elegant with tables of various sizes, high ceilings and bright lighting. A huge TV screen is the focal point with food YouTube videos constantly playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was right under the screen which I found rather distracting. It's so large that when a dark scene played, it actually appeared as if the lighting above us dimmed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once seated, we received the laminated menu and marked our order with the provided whiteboard marker. Each item had a clear photo next to it, which was helpful. It didn't take us long to order since we were more than ready to eat. These were my favorites: + Steamed Prawn Dumpling ($8.95) - The prawns were plump and snappy! I loved their version of this dim sum classic. + Deep Fried Mixed Meat Puff ($7.95) - The exterior was super crispy, light and had the perfect mochi texture. The puff housed a generous scoop of savory and salty meat filling. Not to mention, these were huge! + Steamed Dumpling w/ Chinese Chives, Pork & Shrimp ($8.95): Loved the strong chive flavor, but I wish these were larger. + Mini Egg Tarts ($5.95) - The light, silky custard and flaky crust made this a solid egg tart! I am not sure why they are called "mini"... they appeared to be of standard size as compared with other restaurants. We were also happy with the rest of our order: + Beef Tripe w/ Ginger & Scallion ($8.95) + Steamed Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce ($8.95) + Steamed Bean Curd Rolls w/ Pork in Abalone Sauce ($8.95) + Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce ($8.95) + Steamed Prawn Rice Roll ($10.95) + Hot Tea ($2 per person) The staff did a good job managing all the tables considering the busy lunch crowd. After we paid, one waitress kindly refilled our teapot, so my friends and I enjoyed chatting further over fresh hot tea. By this time, the restaurant was clearing out before their midday closure, so it was just us and another table while the staff took their dinner break. One thing to be aware of... check your receipt closely! We got charged for an order of siu mai which we never received. I didn't notice this until the next day when preparing this review. Therefore, I'm not docking a star due to this since it's partially our fault for not catching the error. Overall, the three of us enjoyed our lunch here. It's busy and prices are average for what you'd expect in Bellevue, but the food was tasty and satisfied our longing for dim sum.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a beautiful restaurant! Classy, elegant and a wonderful atmosphere to share a meal with your family and friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came to have dim sum and it was very good. Each dish arrived hot and fresh. The quality of food is great. My favorite was the shrimp rice roll and su mai. Our waiter was attentive but not too much which I like a lot. If you love Cantonese style food, I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant to you and your family. My photos below represent the many dim sum dishes we had!

I've been to the Sun Sui Wah in Vancouver before and loved it! But this the Bellevue location was disappointing due to of the lack of service and overpriced entrees. Even though it was basically empty at 8PM (two hours before closing) they still managed to get our order wrong and forget to bring rice. During the meal, before all dishes were served, they asked us to pay and for tip. While we were still waiting for the peking duck, we noticed the staff began to set up for their own dinner an hour prior to closing and we had to call them multiple times to get their attention and ask about the duck. Which we were then informed that they had forgotten and were out of duck. Instead of offering a refund, they attempted multiple times to get us to order something else before reluctantly refunding us for the duck. Beyond the service, the food is incredibly overpriced for the taste and portions. For Context: Salt and Pepper Shrimp ($27), Pea Leaves ($22), Squab ($28). Wish I read the reviews about this place first, especially about that one incident where the staff put a tip on someone's card after the meal!!

I would say the dim sum here is average for the price that you are paying which is not cheap. We ordered a bunch of the classics and it was all good except for the rice rolls. The rice rolls were the last dish to come out and it took the longest to make. We were already done with most of the food and was contemplating on whether we should cancel the rice roll. But we decided to wait to try it. When we finally did it was a bit lack luster. The rice roll wrappers were too thick. Usually they should be thin. To had to wait for something that was made to order and for the price you are paying, it was not worth the wait.

TL;DR: [[HIGHLIGHT]]fancy interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] "okay" food safety is a little sketchy. Parking: small shared lot. Parking will be difficult during peak hours and weekends because it shares the same lot as the Asian Family Market. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere: very fancy interior, spacious dining area with freakishly high ceiling and a large TV near a loft area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: very attentive staff. Wait to be seated, markable photo menu will be handed to you (dry erase marker located in the holder at the tables). You will be watered, food brought to you, check brought to you. Complimentary choice of jasmine, oolong, or puer tea. Condiments (hot sauce, soy sauce) available upon request. Menu: dim sum served until 2:30pm for last call, evening menu is seafood. All the food we tried was pretty good. My personal favorites were the radish cake (savory) and the custard buns. I have to say the the shrimp noodle was not as good as some other dim sum places that I have dined at -- I think the sauce was lacking.

Came back for a second visit - weekday lunch, and was still amazed by the service and food. Unlike the weekend, the restaurant had a lot of seating without wait. All dim sum dishes were still available. Loved everything, especially the dungeoness crab!! They brought the crab alive to the table to confirm, which was very engaging and entertaining for the guests, and the host was friendly and patiently introducing all the food and catering to the food limits and allergies on my table

Its a solid place to get some dim sum when in Bellevue. This is an expansion for them from BC. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was pretty well designed, giving it that modern appeal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The dim sum options were decent and the quality of the ones we ordered we good.

The restaurant was quite empty on a Tuesday for lunch. I believe the hype has died down tremendously. We ordered various dishes. The servers were not that attentive of our table or our orders. The rice was lacking flavor. The shumai and the spicy wontons were just okay. Nothing special. The asparagus with eggplant was alright. The cabbage was watered down. The mapo tofu was probably the most strongly flavored dish, which is surprising because it is a szechuan dish not a cantonese dish. Cucumber salad just tasted like vinegar. Overall everything was lacking flavor. Needs to be seasoned better. I would not crave this place. Worth to try once I guess.

We tried this place in Vancouver and we were underwhelmed, but have heard good things about this location. We went today and we were surprised at how good everything was! The restaurant feels very spacious and airy. Service was quick and friendly. Although, each table doesn't come with condiments, such as soy sauce and chilli sauce. You have to ask for it and it comes in individual servings. The dim sum dishes came out steaming hot!! The siu mais and shrimp balls were juicy and filled with crisp shrimps! The sticky rice had a surprisingly large amount of meat and scallops inside, which made for filling portions. The pan fried rice noodle had such a nice char, wok flavor to it. The red glutinous rice noodle roll and tripe dishes were just okay. There could've been a little more flavor The waitlist seemed to work well on the Yelp app. I like being able to see the live updates.

There are rooms for service improvements. For Dimsum, I still prefer those from Kirin in Vancouver, BC. I tried lobster with onion and ginger. I like the one I got from Newport Seafood more. Inside looks nice. Reservation is possible with a group of 6 and more. Which is a plus.

Dim sum is ok! Came here on a Saturday an hour before they closed and was able to add myself to the waitlist through the Yelp app. This spot was still packed at 1:30pm and there was no hostess at the front. Chicken feet - ok, but bones were in some of my bites and makes me feel like the chicken feet wasn't throughly prepped prior to cooking Sui mai - good, with large shrimps inside Tripe - ok, too oily imo Lava bun - good and the bun was nice and soft Cherng fun - bigger than a normal dim sum portion but barely got any sweet soy sauce Radish cake - my favorite, would order again Everything came out to $80 for 6-7 dishes and for the price, didn't feel I got the quality I was expecting especially since I read this spot came from Canada. Side note - parking is atrocious here so get ready. Continuing my hunt for the best dim sum in Washington state!

Came here for dim sum with friends. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd definitely give this place a 3.5 if I could. Ambiance is very pretty and modern. Lots of big light fixtures, big screen TV, open light when it's not over casted and raining here, and many different sized tables for all dining experiences. We came around 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday and there wasn't a wait that day. Per their site, you can reserve a table if you have 6 or more people. Otherwise, you can join their waiting list on Yelp or of course with their hostess. Parking was horrendous as there are many other businesses and yummy restaurants nearby. You'll find one eventually. Unfortunately, no carts during dim sum here. You'll have to use the menu provided with the dry erase marker to tick what you want to order. There weren't any condiments such as chili sauce/oil, soy sauce, or vinegar on any tables. We had to request some. Note that they will give you individual saucers of whatever you request. Its best to order 1 for each per person when needed. Our food came out very quickly. It was also nice and hot! Chicken feet was average, followed by the fried taro with pork. There could have been a bit more pork filling in that. Bean curd rolls were cut into friendly sharing pieces, and the fried calamari had so much yummy goodness of diced shallots and peppers. The rice rolls with shrimp had large thick shrimps. I don't believe other dishes stood out too much. I'd say food is about average but definitely does not match the prices. Service was average. They checked on us when it was time to order and when the bill was available... don't feel rushed to pay. Looks like they just bring it to you when all your food is delivered. They are always looking to see if you're ready to pay though. Drinks weren't refilled until requested. Servers and bussers did take away plates that were empty consistently. I honestly think the loss of dim sum carts takes away from the actual experience, and the prices here are a little too high for my liking. I would give this place another shot as it wasn't bad, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Good dim sum option in Crossroads area of Bellevue! Get here early to find parking in the crowded parking lot and to avoid lines. There are no carts here, you order off the extensive menu and they bring it hot and freshly made. The shiu mai came loaded with shrimp and pork, and the steamed buns were full of delicious pork. I like how the sticky rice has some purple grains mixed in, and the BBQ pork wide noodles were stuffed with meat and just the right amount of parsley and green onions to elevate the dish. Service was attentive and fast, and the decor is brand new and clean. I need to come back for dinner because that menu is equally extensive and everything looks delicious!

My daughter is allergic to peanuts, are there peanut products I need to worry about used in cooking?

I *think* you'll be able to find peanut-free choices, but check the menu and talk to waiters on-site. Also consider if there's a risk to a peanut-free dish being prepared in the same kitchen as dishes with peanuts.

Do the restaurant provide dim sum during dinner?

I believe it's only for brunch/lunch. They do now open at 9:00AM on Sat/Sun. Calling to be sure is always best, because they're new, things are subject to change.

Luckily, we were able to find a spot right out front, so I'd recommend slowly circling around and keeping an eye out for people leaving. I found this spot through Yelp and had been really craving good Chinese food, so I was super excited to finally try it. My family and I came without a reservation and were seated immediately, even though the restaurant was very busy. This place is definitely known for larger parties, there were lots of families and extended families dining together, which really gave it a classic family-style vibe. You order a bunch of dishes and share a little bit of everything, which I love. The staff were really friendly and greeted us right away with complimentary tea. Fun fact: in the mornings, tea is sometimes an extra charge, but in the evening it's free. We ordered a few dishes, including the honey walnut shrimp (which is my go-to order at any Asian restaurant), salt and pepper squid, house special vermicelli noodles, and Chinese broccoli. The vermicelli was a clear noodle dish loaded with different proteins like BBQ pork, squid, and shrimp. Everything had great flavor, but my absolute favorite was definitely the honey walnut shrimp. It was perfectly crispy and delicious. My only complaint is the portion size for the price, it was about $21 for roughly 10 pieces of shrimp, which felt pretty expensive. Overall, the portions were on the smaller side for what you're paying. Toward the end of the meal, they treated us to a complimentary papaya soup, which was a light, fruit-based dessert soup and a really nice way to finish. Our total came out to about $80, so it's definitely on the pricier side for Chinese food. That said, the food was delicious, the service was great, and if you're in the Bellevue area, I'd still recommend stopping by.
