I absolutely love this place!! I've been coming here since high school. It's been many many years and I still come back whenever I'm craving an authentic Chinese cuisine.. My family has visited Yea's Wok several times over the years and most recently, we picked up takeout to bring over to my grandmother for lunch. The service has always been friendly, and their King County health rating of "Excellent" stands out against other Chinese restaurants in general. We ordered four dishes, all of which we thought were alright. We wouldn't say any of them were extremely flavorful, but we would rather have that as opposed to them being overly salty. + MOO SHU PORK: I normally don't gravitate towards this dish, but I actually enjoyed it the most. Thin pieces of pork were mixed with a medley of vegetables including cabbage, carrots and mushrooms. The pork was tender and lean, while the cabbage retained a bit of crunch. The pancakes provided were thin, but held up well to the filing as we all made our little wraps. + COMBINATION CHOW MEIN: This was a typical chow mein with soft noodles, vegetables, chicken and seafood. It was okay, but nothing too memorable. The highlight for me was the snappy little shrimps. + GREEN BEANS w/ MINCED PORK: While the sauce coating these beans had a nice savory garlic flavor, the beans themselves were overcooked. Rather than having a crunch, most of them were wilted and soft. For some reason, they had an undertone of what tasted like a pickled flavor which was really strange, but luckily, it wasn't too strong. + PEPPER BEEF: Since we were bringing food to my grandma, we asked to tone down the spice on this dish, but by doing that, it may have lost some of its spark. The beef was tender and I enjoyed the various vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots) included, but the sauce also fell flat. One of their signature dishes is the Volcano Fried Rice, which I've had before. It's their fried rice with a reddish sauce that includes a mix of vegetables and meat, served upside down with the sauce cascading over the top, representing a volcano. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of fried rice in general, but I give it to them in terms of creativity! While I wouldn't necessarily order the above items again, I'd go back to try other dishes from their menu, given our positive experiences in the past. 3.25 stars. read more

We had lunch today at Yea's Wok in Newcastle, and while the service started off great, the food was pretty underwhelming this time around. We were seated and greeted very quickly, and got our water and menus almost immediately, which we appreciated. However, it took quite a while to get our soup, which is unusual here since it's normally brought out almost right after you choose between egg flower or hot and sour. I ordered the Mongolian beef, and my wife had the mushu chicken. Unfortunately, both dishes missed the mark. The chicken was room temperature or cooler and very bland, and there wasn't nearly enough plum sauce for the amount of food on the plate. The Mongolian beef was very tender, but also flavorless and really needed more seasoning or sauce to bring it to life. It was a slow lunch hour, quiet in the restaurant which is usual, so maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen -- Thursdays might be the "B team," because the food definitely wasn't up to their usual standards. We actually love coming here and usually look forward to a solid, reliable meal, which made this visit extra disappointing. Hoping this was just a one-off, because we've had much better experiences in the past. read more

Good and solid option for the Newcastle area and especially on the Eastside. The slat and pepper calamari here is one of my favorites in the area. The food is always hot and fresh. Every dish we have had here is always packed with authentic flavors. This place can get busy and the dining area in the main area is compact. The "waiting area" is essentially non existent. So if you have to wait for a table, you'll probably end up waiting in your vehicle. Calling in orders for to go is highly encouraged. Otherwise you end up waiting sitting in a chair feeling uncomfortable bc there is very limited space entering and leaving the restaurant. Not the most ideal set up so you'll end up waiting in your vehicle. The servings are family style and big portions. You won't be disappointed. read more

Been Coming here since I was a kid and it has been consistently decent Taiwanese food. The food were great. My favorite was the eggplant dish. Kids loved the noodles with meat sauce. Their walnut shrimp was perfectly fried with yummy walnuts. Basil with beef was also flavorful. The stirfry noodle was on the soggy side. Chicken in the clay pot was very fragrant! Forgot to order the hot and sour soup today but it is always good :) Service was excellent. We celebrated a birthday with a cake. They place the cake for us in the fridge during the meal and supplied us with little plates and knife for us to do the birthday celebration there! (Even turned down the lights for 5 second ) :). Friendly staff and good Chinese in the Renton / Newcastle neighborhood. Nice to not have to drive into the city of Seattle for authentic / good Chinese food. Menu had a good variety. Some of my favorites were the Happy Family dish with seafood, protein, and veggies. Also liked the green beans, walnut prawns, and house noodles. We dined here earlier this week for a birthday party. In total, we had 18 guests. Their servers did a good job of getting everything out of the kitchen as quickly as possible to our table and removing empty plates. Not an easy task with a group of this size. I can't even begin to name all of the dishes, but the ones that stood out to me where the house special fried rice and the tea smoked duck. Incredible! This place is pretty good. Portions are big for the amount of money you are playing for the food. Came here after a round of golf at Newcastle and we were hungry. We ordered beef with broccoli, general tsao chicken, chicken and black bean sauce, and walnut shrimp. Everything was tasty and great. I thought we didn't order enough food between the four of us, but we had a little left over. I took a star off because some of the dishes were salty, but I didn't mind. The inside looks small when you walk in, but they have two additional rooms in the back. The staff was friendly and were always walking around looking to refill waters or rice bowls. You know a Chinese restaurant is legit when it is filled with Chinese people eating the food. Overall, would come again if i am in the area. I found the dishes to be affordable and fairly big here. The taste of each dish wasn't bad either and my favorite was the eggplant for sure. I think the service was pretty good and I got my water filled pretty often. The space can get quite busy, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit. We went for lunch, great menu quite extensive. Started with hot and sour, full of great stuff and the broth was so rich and the right spice. Kung Pao and moo shoo pork, portions were large, savory spicy kung pao, good chicken and the pork was very tasty. We'll be back to try more!! A location we have visited multiple times. A very busy location. Very good food, quickly delivered, tasty. We ordered volcano rice, fried green beans, candied fried pork chop and a Chinese menu dried tofu with chicken and pickled cabbage. We came especially for the Volcano rice. My wife had to fight my daughter for who ate more. Luckily the servings are large. Flavorful and fresh. The green beans were garlicy, well cooked, and fabulous. The beef was excellent. The Mongolian Beef was ridiculously sweet - I'm not sure they tasted it before serving, and maybe they accidentally poured a whole bunch of sugar on there without noticing? It was not a normal amount of sweetness, and my friend who likes things sweet couldn't even eat it because it was so strong. I had to order the orange chicken. My go to favorite Chinese food item. This was definitely made fresh. A wonderful tangy orange sauce. The red peppers on the side did not indicate any heat in this dish. And I steered clear of items in the menu which had the little pepper next to it. The hot and sour soup was very much a combination of that sweet and sour, not hot, tasty! I love the size of one cup. Service prompt and friendly. Where did fried rice which should have some kind of color to show that it has some kind of seasoning but it's just white rice with frozen peas and carrots in it. Also had Singapore rice noodles. I've been going here since I was a kid and it's been my favorite place for Chinese food! Service here is always wonderful! Servers are kind and really make you feel welcomed and are quick to assist. Even better, the food comes out so fast, perfect for when your whole family is hungry. The interior is clean and the table set up ideal for sharing. On the food: my family does not eat pork or shellfish for religious reasons (along with some vegetarians in the extended) and Yea's Wok has aways been very accommodating with substitutes that are within reason. For example, the green beans can easily have the pork removed and the Mongolian Beef can be made as a tofu version that's just as delicious!
