    Moo Shu Pork

My family has visited Yea's Wok several times over the years and most recently, we picked up takeout to bring over to my grandmother for lunch. The service has always been friendly, and their King County health rating of "Excellent" stands out against other Chinese restaurants in general. We ordered four dishes, all of which we thought were alright. We wouldn't say any of them were extremely flavorful, but we would rather have that as opposed to them being overly salty. + MOO SHU PORK: I normally don't gravitate towards this dish, but I actually enjoyed it the most. Thin pieces of pork were mixed with a medley of vegetables including cabbage, carrots and mushrooms. The pork was tender and lean, while the cabbage retained a bit of crunch. The pancakes provided were thin, but held up well to the filing as we all made our little wraps. + COMBINATION CHOW MEIN: This was a typical chow mein with soft noodles, vegetables, chicken and seafood. It was okay, but nothing too memorable. The highlight for me was the snappy little shrimps. + GREEN BEANS w/ MINCED PORK: While the sauce coating these beans had a nice savory garlic flavor, the beans themselves were overcooked. Rather than having a crunch, most of them were wilted and soft. For some reason, they had an undertone of what tasted like a pickled flavor which was really strange, but luckily, it wasn't too strong. + PEPPER BEEF: Since we were bringing food to my grandma, we asked to tone down the spice on this dish, but by doing that, it may have lost some of its spark. The beef was tender and I enjoyed the various vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots) included, but the sauce also fell flat. One of their signature dishes is the Volcano Fried Rice, which I've had before. It's their fried rice with a reddish sauce that includes a mix of vegetables and meat, served upside down with the sauce cascading over the top, representing a volcano. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of fried rice in general, but I give it to them in terms of creativity! While I wouldn't necessarily order the above items again, I'd go back to try other dishes from their menu, given our positive experiences in the past. 3.25 stars.

We had lunch today at Yea's Wok in Newcastle, and while the service started off great, the food was pretty underwhelming this time around. We were seated and greeted very quickly, and got our water and menus almost immediately, which we appreciated. However, it took quite a while to get our soup, which is unusual here since it's normally brought out almost right after you choose between egg flower or hot and sour. I ordered the Mongolian beef, and my wife had the mushu chicken. Unfortunately, both dishes missed the mark. The chicken was room temperature or cooler and very bland, and there wasn't nearly enough plum sauce for the amount of food on the plate. The Mongolian beef was very tender, but also flavorless and really needed more seasoning or sauce to bring it to life. It was a slow lunch hour, quiet in the restaurant which is usual, so maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen -- Thursdays might be the "B team," because the food definitely wasn't up to their usual standards. We actually love coming here and usually look forward to a solid, reliable meal, which made this visit extra disappointing. Hoping this was just a one-off, because we've had much better experiences in the past.

Good and solid option for the Newcastle area and especially on the Eastside. The slat and pepper calamari here is one of my favorites in the area. The food is always hot and fresh. Every dish we have had here is always packed with authentic flavors. This place can get busy and the dining area in the main area is compact. The "waiting area" is essentially non existent. So if you have to wait for a table, you'll probably end up waiting in your vehicle. Calling in orders for to go is highly encouraged. Otherwise you end up waiting sitting in a chair feeling uncomfortable bc there is very limited space entering and leaving the restaurant. Not the most ideal set up so you'll end up waiting in your vehicle. The servings are family style and big portions. You won't be disappointed.

Been Coming here since I was a kid and it has been consistently decent Taiwanese food. The food were great. My favorite was the eggplant dish. Kids loved the noodles with meat sauce. Their walnut shrimp was perfectly fried with yummy walnuts. Basil with beef was also flavorful. The stirfry noodle was on the soggy side. Chicken in the clay pot was very fragrant! Forgot to order the hot and sour soup today but it is always good :) Service was excellent. We celebrated a birthday with a cake. They place the cake for us in the fridge during the meal and supplied us with little plates and knife for us to do the birthday celebration there! (Even turned down the lights for 5 second ) :). Really appreciate the small thoughtful gesture. Tea was $1pp.

Extremely dissapointed because I've been searching for a Chinese restaurant and found out this one was fairly close to me...but I will NOT go back. $60 for 3 dishes (Hot and Sour Soup, General TSao's Chicken, Orange Beef). Hot and Sour soup was probably the best thing if I had to choose, but they put every mushroom that was grown in Newcastle in the soup. The chicken and beef I'd have to chew and then spit out because it wasn't consumable. Honestly can't remember the last time I wasted $60 like this... don't go

Yea's Wok will always be our favorite Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant. Food is excellent, service is great, ambience is homey. It's a go to place for any occasion. Owner and servers are always attentive. Favorite dishes: Camphor Wood and Tea Smoked Duck, Mongolian beef, General Tsao's chicken, Buddhist delight with seafood and chow mein.

Friendly staff and good Chinese in the Renton / Newcastle neighborhood. Nice to not have to drive into the city of Seattle for authentic / good Chinese food. Menu had a good variety. Some of my favorites were the Happy Family dish with seafood, protein, and veggies. Also liked the green beans, walnut prawns, and house noodles. We also had the pepper steak, prawns, Mongolian beef, black bean clams. Everything was good. Would recommend and will be coming back for sure.

Good place to get large portion sizes of Chinese lunch specials! Quick and friendly service. Well, it's not the best lunch special that I've had, they do give big portion sizes, it is a bit on the sweeter side, the chicken with cashew tasted like teriyaki. Overall great spot.

I found the dishes to be affordable and fairly big here. The taste of each dish wasn't bad either and my favorite was the eggplant for sure. I think the service was pretty good and I got my water filled pretty often. The space can get quite busy, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit. Overall, I think this place isn't pretty good and would recommend it.

This review is for a visit of two adults and one teen on January 1st 2026 @ 7:40pm…read more My mom wanted to treat me and my son to dinner, and although the original spot we planned to visit in the same lot was closed, I'm really glad it led us here. Parking was super easy, which is always a plus. The restaurant is located in a large shopping area surrounded by other food spots and grocery stores, so there's plenty of space and no stress trying to find a spot. As soon as we walked in, the space felt bright, clean, and welcoming. It had a fresh, well-kept feel that immediately made us comfortable. We were seated right away since it wasn't very busy at the time, which we appreciated. The gentleman who greeted and seated us was incredibly kind and patient. He introduced us to their online ordering system which was new to me, haha, but he made the whole process feel easy. He happily answered our questions and even offered thoughtful recommendations, which we really appreciated. We decided to order a few dishes to share family-style: chow mein, wontons in chili sauce, fried rice, and beef with broccoli. Setting everything in the middle and sharing made the experience feel even more warm and connected. The food overall was really enjoyable, and you could tell care went into how everything was prepared. The chow mein was especially nice because they were willing to adjust it to my mom's preference, which says a lot about their flexibility and service. The noodles had a great texture, soft with just the right amount of bite. The wontons in chili sauce had a rich, flavorful taste with a gentle heat that built slowly but never became overwhelming. It had just the right kick to keep things interesting while still letting the flavors come through. The sauce paired beautifully with the wontons and added a nice depth to each bite. The beef with broccoli was probably my favorite dish of the night. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and not overdone at all so it still had a slight crunch that gave it a really fresh feel. The beef was tender and soaked up the sauce nicely, and the sauce itself was savory, smooth, and full of flavor without being too salty or overpowering. Everything about that dish felt balanced and satisfying. The fried rice was solid, simple, comforting, and exactly what you expect from a classic fried rice. It wasn't anything overly fancy, but it was well-made and paired nicely with the other dishes. Sometimes simple done right is all you need. Overall, it was a really enjoyable dining experience. Between the kind service, the clean and inviting atmosphere, and the flavorful prepared food, it made for a lovely night out with my family. I'd definitely come back again and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, satisfying meal.

It's really too bad this spot is so far from me (I live in Bellevue)... or maybe it's a good thing because I'd get it too much. Maybe better for my health and wallet. My friend was a big fan of boba tea, and I missed Taiwanese street food badly, so we just decided to try out this place. We showed up right after they opened their door. I am a low tech person, but I found their ordering kiosk was easy to use. We ordered two meals, Taiwanese sausage bento and Beef noodle soup, that came with drinks. One interesting we noticed is that each meal selection came with different drink options. When we ordered Taiwanese sausage bento, there's an option to order a drink at a cheaper price, but no old fashioned black tea, so we ordered milk tea. However, when we ordered beef noodle soup, there's no milk tea option but old fashioned black tea. We thought all the add-on drink options were the same, but they weren't. We then got milk tea and black tea from the add on options since it's much cheaper. We also ordered blood rice cake and the braised combo. There were a few tables in the store. When we were there, not too many people were there, so we just picked up a table. The food came very quickly. During the lunch time, around noon to 1 pm, the entire place was packed. After that, most people just came to pick up something and left. The food was very delicious and was authentically Taiwanese food. The blood rice cake was southern Taiwanese style. I wish they also had northern style that would wrapped with peanut powder. The braised combo was very tasty. I guess it was cooked in the sauce for a long time. The beef noodle soup was really good, and they could add picked mustards for free. My friend and I had a lot to chat, so we stayed in the store until they closed. Nobody ever tried to kick us out simply because we had stayed too long. We had a good time there, enjoying the food and the drinks. I am sure that we will come again soon.
