We love this Chinese restaurant for dining in and takeout. It's so consistent, even a decade later. Large portions and fast service. Efficient waiters. The best Orange Chicken - it's so fragrant! I'm not sure if my pic is of Orange Chicken or General Tso. We order them both on and off and they look similar. I don't have pics but we have also tried the duck. Wow, it's fragrant and smoked to perfection!

Haven't been here since 2 years ago. It was our go to place for good taiwanese chinese food. Restrooms: male and female restrooms Parking: plenty of free shared retail parking Menu: Chinese and English menu. Seating: plenty of big round tables for big parties Reservation: via phone We ordered: Pepper salt pork chops Honey walnut prawn Sweet sour intestines pork blood tofu dish Black pepper beef Sichuan shrimp tofu Stir fry Green bean w ground pork Crispy noddle w veggie gravy Steam seabass [forgot the sauce] Fried pancake redbean filling [not in picture] my fav. Overall food quality has gone down. Everything is super salty. Still like my seabass tho. Service is good, they are always there ready. However, the food took longer than normal which is wierd, there's only 4 other tables besides ours.

My family has visited Yea's Wok several times over the years and most recently, we picked up takeout to bring over to my grandmother for lunch. The service has always been friendly, and their King County health rating of "Excellent" stands out against other Chinese restaurants in general. We ordered four dishes, all of which we thought were alright. We wouldn't say any of them were extremely flavorful, but we would rather have that as opposed to them being overly salty. + MOO SHU PORK: I normally don't gravitate towards this dish, but I actually enjoyed it the most. Thin pieces of pork were mixed with a medley of vegetables including cabbage, carrots and mushrooms. The pork was tender and lean, while the cabbage retained a bit of crunch. The pancakes provided were thin, but held up well to the filing as we all made our little wraps. + COMBINATION CHOW MEIN: This was a typical chow mein with soft noodles, vegetables, chicken and seafood. It was okay, but nothing too memorable. The highlight for me was the snappy little shrimps. + GREEN BEANS w/ MINCED PORK: While the sauce coating these beans had a nice savory garlic flavor, the beans themselves were overcooked. Rather than having a crunch, most of them were wilted and soft. For some reason, they had an undertone of what tasted like a pickled flavor which was really strange, but luckily, it wasn't too strong. + PEPPER BEEF: Since we were bringing food to my grandma, we asked to tone down the spice on this dish, but by doing that, it may have lost some of its spark. The beef was tender and I enjoyed the various vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots) included, but the sauce also fell flat. One of their signature dishes is the Volcano Fried Rice, which I've had before. It's their fried rice with a reddish sauce that includes a mix of vegetables and meat, served upside down with the sauce cascading over the top, representing a volcano. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of fried rice in general, but I give it to them in terms of creativity! While I wouldn't necessarily order the above items again, I'd go back to try other dishes from their menu, given our positive experiences in the past. 3.25 stars.

We had lunch today at Yea's Wok in Newcastle, and while the service started off great, the food was pretty underwhelming this time around. We were seated and greeted very quickly, and got our water and menus almost immediately, which we appreciated. However, it took quite a while to get our soup, which is unusual here since it's normally brought out almost right after you choose between egg flower or hot and sour. I ordered the Mongolian beef, and my wife had the mushu chicken. Unfortunately, both dishes missed the mark. The chicken was room temperature or cooler and very bland, and there wasn't nearly enough plum sauce for the amount of food on the plate. The Mongolian beef was very tender, but also flavorless and really needed more seasoning or sauce to bring it to life. It was a slow lunch hour, quiet in the restaurant which is usual, so maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen -- Thursdays might be the "B team," because the food definitely wasn't up to their usual standards. We actually love coming here and usually look forward to a solid, reliable meal, which made this visit extra disappointing. Hoping this was just a one-off, because we've had much better experiences in the past.

Good and solid option for the Newcastle area and especially on the Eastside. The slat and pepper calamari here is one of my favorites in the area. The food is always hot and fresh. Every dish we have had here is always packed with authentic flavors. This place can get busy and the dining area in the main area is compact. The "waiting area" is essentially non existent. So if you have to wait for a table, you'll probably end up waiting in your vehicle. Calling in orders for to go is highly encouraged. Otherwise you end up waiting sitting in a chair feeling uncomfortable bc there is very limited space entering and leaving the restaurant. Not the most ideal set up so you'll end up waiting in your vehicle. The servings are family style and big portions. You won't be disappointed.

Been Coming here since I was a kid and it has been consistently decent Taiwanese food. The food were great. My favorite was the eggplant dish. Kids loved the noodles with meat sauce. Their walnut shrimp was perfectly fried with yummy walnuts. Basil with beef was also flavorful. The stirfry noodle was on the soggy side. Chicken in the clay pot was very fragrant! Forgot to order the hot and sour soup today but it is always good :) Service was excellent. We celebrated a birthday with a cake. They place the cake for us in the fridge during the meal and supplied us with little plates and knife for us to do the birthday celebration there! (Even turned down the lights for 5 second ) :). Really appreciate the small thoughtful gesture. Tea was $1pp.

Yea's Wok will always be our favorite Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant. Food is excellent, service is great, ambience is homey. It's a go to place for any occasion. Owner and servers are always attentive. Favorite dishes: Camphor Wood and Tea Smoked Duck, Mongolian beef, General Tsao's chicken, Buddhist delight with seafood and chow mein.

Extremely dissapointed because I've been searching for a Chinese restaurant and found out this one was fairly close to me...but I will NOT go back. $60 for 3 dishes (Hot and Sour Soup, General TSao's Chicken, Orange Beef). Hot and Sour soup was probably the best thing if I had to choose, but they put every mushroom that was grown in Newcastle in the soup. The chicken and beef I'd have to chew and then spit out because it wasn't consumable. Honestly can't remember the last time I wasted $60 like this... don't go

Friendly staff and good Chinese in the Renton / Newcastle neighborhood. Nice to not have to drive into the city of Seattle for authentic / good Chinese food. Menu had a good variety. Some of my favorites were the Happy Family dish with seafood, protein, and veggies. Also liked the green beans, walnut prawns, and house noodles. We also had the pepper steak, prawns, Mongolian beef, black bean clams. Everything was good. Would recommend and will be coming back for sure.

Good place to get large portion sizes of Chinese lunch specials! Quick and friendly service. Well, it's not the best lunch special that I've had, they do give big portion sizes, it is a bit on the sweeter side, the chicken with cashew tasted like teriyaki. Overall great spot.

I found the dishes to be affordable and fairly big here. The taste of each dish wasn't bad either and my favorite was the eggplant for sure. I think the service was pretty good and I got my water filled pretty often. The space can get quite busy, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit. Overall, I think this place isn't pretty good and would recommend it.

Located at the The Golf Club at Newcastle, The Calcutta Grill is an English-style pub that has both indoor and outdoor dining with a view of the pristinely manicured golf course that also has their own bagpipe player signify the sun setting every weekend day during the summer season, along the course as well, which makes for an entertaining way to enjoy a meal. I had actually visited The Golf Club at Newcastle before, just to see the sun going down and watch the sunset bagpipe player play his traditional tune and walk around just as the sun started to set. I was recently back to enjoy a hearty dinner with a colleague and as luck would have it we would get a table while out on their terrace to watch the sun set and the bagpipe player set the scene while dining. Getting to The Calcutta Room at Newcastle was the biggest challenge, as rideshare is very pricey in the Seattle region, but achievable nevertheless. Upon arrival since I was meeting my friend here, and they had already arrived, I was told to venture out to the terrace on my own and wander around and look for them instead of being guided to where they were sitting. The dinner menu at The Calcutta Grill is separated into categories including Small Plates, From the Kettle (or Soups), Starter Salads, Signature Salads, Burgers & Sandwiches, Anytime Favorites, Signature Plates, their special Chef Inspired Features, and their Beverage menu. My dining mate and I decided to both get their smaller Classic Caesar Salad to start our meal. Upon my dining mates suggestion, as he has been here many times before, he suggested we split their Calamari Fritti small plate entrée, which were calamari rings and octopus dipped in a semolina crust and buttermilk and served with lemon, fried parsley and a roasted garlic aioli dipping sauce. For our entrée, it was suggested by our server that we order their Cajun Pasta which was their penne pasta served with grilled chicken, prawns, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, spinach, and topped with their cajun cream sauce and aged parmesan. Served with grilled focaccia it was truly a hearty dish. Being able to take in the warmer weather, at least for the Seattle region, was a real treat as we waited for our food. Our calamari came out first, as they were crispy and crunchy and served with a grilled lemon and tartar sauce for dipping. The perfect way to start our meal was that when our salads came out, I was already satiated but still ready to go with the way that they stylized their version of a Caesar Salad, as it was a simple salad with shaved parmesan and no anchovies. The pasta entrée was the real star of our meal with plenty of hearty ingredients including a number of butterflied and grilled shrimp and chunks of grilled chicken, served with two toasted slices of sourdough bread complete with grill marks on it, this was a meal unto itself. Dining at The Calcutta Grill was a complete experience especially when their resident bagpipe player came to personally entertain us and take a picture with us. Our total bill was a little over 110 dollars before you consider tax and gratuity. By offering a selection of some of the Pacific Northwest's favorite foods in a relaxed, charming setting with uninterrupted panoramic views while dining on their patio, The Calcutta Grill is a special place to enjoy a nice meal.

The staff is gracious, prompt, professional, and - I hope no one objects when I say this - rather attractive. Generous portions and reasonable prices for what you're getting. NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: It is important to note that this place is insanely popular with the area's Korean community. The restaurant is quite busy Thursday thru Sunday, and significant waits for a table are likely. Monday thru Wednesday is your best time for going and getting a table without a wait. The price of some dishes, like their signature offering, Kalbijjim, might give you a pause ($80+). It is important to keep in mind this is made to order, and one serving can easily serve four regular appetites. If you're just a couple, you're definitely going to be taking this home with you. This is not a bad thing, as Kalbijjim is one of those dishes that is even better the next day and doesn't suffer from reheating. THE VERDICT: Daeho Kalbijjim is extremely popular, and it's not hard to see why. The execute authentic Korean cuisine pretty much flawlessly with efficient and charming service. The first time I visited, the quality of the meat cuts didn't impress me, and the soups lacked depth of flavor. I'm not talking about needing more salt--the broth itself just tasted flat. When you're paying close to $30 for a bowl of soup, I think it's reasonable to expect a higher level of quality and care to ingredients. The second visit was a mixed experience. To be fair, I was in the wrong. There is a clearly posted policy stating that your entire party must be present before being seated. My group was about seven minutes away, and since I had already checked in on Yelp and there were only two parties ahead of me with no one physically waiting, I asked if I could be seated and order while I waited. I had already been standing inside for about 10 minutes. I was told that although tables were available, seating me ahead of the other parties on the waitlist would be unfair. I understood the reasoning, but she had also asked prior for my order. Her explanation left me confused so i sheepishly said I understood the policy. She already seemed upset by the time i had gotten there. Sometimes we have off days i get that. This place is clearly hit or miss, I've got friends who absolutely swear by it. For me, though, it wasn't anything special and didn't justify the price. If you're looking for Korean food in the area, I've had better experiences with higher-quality dishes elsewhere, especially in Lynnwood.
