Want a break from your salads? We did, tonight, so we rode out to pick up some sandwiches, fries, and onion rings. The large sandwich is 12 inches, and you might as well just get it and split it or save the other half for the next day. The meat was a little mystery for me. I thought it was pork and not steak. It still tasted great, but I'm really not sure if it was steak! Also, leave your assumptions at home... these sandwiches are not like those in Philly. It's their own version, it's served up hot, and it will satisfy your cravings! Awesome service. We waited outside for the order and someone came out to deliver it masked up. read more

What a delightful place smack dab in the middle of a residential area! We stopped here for lunch on Saturday and couldn't have been happier. They have meal deals so I got a cheese steak, fries and soda (Coke products, y'all!) for under $10. I'm stoked I had a tough workout that morning because I was hungry with an allotment of calories to eat back. I killed the cheese steak and fries and the only thing that would have made it perfect was if they had Yeungling! I can't wait until I'm in the area again to get my cheese steak on! Used to be one of my favorite spots when I lived in the neighborhood, went back recently and has whole new vibe and different menu but has some of the originals as well. The lady, who takes your order who seems pretty fed up with life, still works there however. Not real friendly, which seems to be the norm these days. Definitely disappointed the newer owner got rid of beer, was one of the highlights before. Also felt like the phillys didn't have as much meat as they used to. read more

Not much of a beer garden, but they definitely got the Philly Cheese Steak part down! I found this place through Uber eats and since it's so close to home I just come to get a to go order now. People are always friendly, inside is clean. I usually go with the classic cheesesteak- it's never been a disappointment and the portion size is very generous. I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks as well, always super cheesy! read more

I have never been a fan of Philly cheesesteaks. To me, they're just not good. Like, why? However I am always down to try a new place because like mom always says, "you can't knock it 'til you try it" and I'm a firm believer. Came across this spot and said, "yeah, sure." We spent some time finding parking and then walked up. A handful of different sandwich items on the menu, I ordered the Chile Philly. Hot damn! FLAVOR. This has always been my biggest gripe about cheesesteaks. After years of being unimpressed, I finally feel like I found a great version. A solid kick, genuine flavor in the meat (and quality) and a good bun. I think next time I'll order w extra cheese and maybe mushrooms to round it out. The fries were thin and perfectly crispy with a great ratio between crisp and potato. I wish I'd ordered the cheese fries but solo they were really good. Service was great and super quick. Will 100% be returning. read more

I must say it... I'm a fat kid at heart and I am in love. While I'm newer to the Philly cheese steak scene, I've got to give two thumbs up to Famous Philly Cheese Steaks. 1 = Great friendly service. 2 = Amazing fries! 3 = Got "The Works" cheese steak with cream cheese, sooo good!! 4 = Fried mushrooms that hit the spot! 5 = Convenience, about 2 miles from my job and you can order through GrubHub for delivery ($15 minimum). That's only the beginning of my joy... They also offer a happy hour from 3pm-7pm for $1 off craft beers, featuring the likes of SKA Brewing, River North Brewery, Estes Park Brewery. Mmm... The sandwich itself is pretty tasty, though there could definitely be more flavor - particularly around things like the jalapenos if you have those added. I do dig that there is usually a cheap canned beer to sip on at a reasonable price. The only complaint is that for the money, which is north of $10 bucks for a loaded up cheesesteak, it just doesn't seem like that good a value. That said, if you're in the mood for a hot, gooey, squishy bread cheesesteak, this place is A-OK. read more

I used to live on Kater street in Philly, immediately behind the TLA on South St which is less than a half a block from Jim's on 4th & So. Famous Phil's had got Jim's beat. Sorry Jim, gotta get the meat off the grill faster, it should never be dry. At Famous Phil's it comes off the grill perfect every time and if the bread is not flown in from Philly than they fooled me. Thanks for a taste of home when I need it! read more

This is the filthiest food establishment I have ever stepped into. Couldn't find a clean table, there were pieces of steak and chicken everywhere! The walls look like you're in a dirty mechanic shop, they haven't been cleaned in years. Same with the floor. The soda machine was crusty with syrup, we changed to bottled soda once we saw it. So disappointing. Cheesesteak was ok at best, fries were greasy from old oil. Never again. read more

I couldn't wait to check out this place and maybe the Super Bowl got me in the mood. This place is fairly small and pretty typical of a Philly cheese steak place. There is a nice patio and the beers are cheaply priced especially during happy hour so I might have to come back when it's nicer out. As for the cheese steak, it's good. It's not earth shattering awesome but it's good to where I'd come back for another. It's great to know they deliver and I'm within that zone so a lousy day might mean another Philly steak for me! read more

They changed their winter hours -- they close at 5pm on Mondays. Not sure what months this covers exactly. I know authentic Philly cheese steaks when I eat them and this is the real deal! You know...the soft Amorosa rolls and gooey cheese! Our family favorites are the chicken cheesesteak, Philly cheesesteak, hoagies, fries and wings. You can't go wrong with any of these. We have never opted for delivery but they do offer that as well. read more

Not horrible but I wouldn't order again. Bread was covered in grease and extra soggy (more than normal). My boyfriend ordered a simple steak, peppers and onions, as the receipt stated. It arrived stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms and mayo. He absolutely hates mayo and mushrooms so that was a big disappointment. We'll definitely be trying somewhere else next time we're craving steak and cheese subs! read more

Looked this place up on Yelp and was impressed with the ratings so I decided it was worth the 36 minute drive from Lakewood. And it WAS totally worth the drive! Best Philly cheesesteak since I was at Pats and Genos in South Philly for Christmas in 2018. Served by Chris and Bryan. Very friendly and out of this world cheesesteak! Highly recommend! read more

Likewise, I didn't claim the salmon *was* canned, I said my husband thought it tasted canned. It certainly was flaked and looked like it came straight out of a can. I'm glad the restaurant supports local producers, but unfortunately that still doesn't make this particular dining experience any better for us.

I live right around the corner and come (not wait, came as in past tense) here often. However, I asked to speak to the owner for just a minute today and I meant it: It was literally going to be a super fast minute to point out the lack of attention to detail from his staff members. Went inside the restaurant and asked for a student discount, as usual except this time the lady at the cash register tells me that the discount is only for high school students now.....? High school students and college student are so similar its only ignorant to make this policy a reality. I say this because high school students do not pay to attend high school but college students do, so why would a college "student" not be eligible for a the same discount if they actually pay for their tuition. A clear example of this is letting police officers get a discount but not military officials???? Why would a cop be more eligible to receive a discount here but not a military official who has ALSO served for this country. This business is extremely ignorant so save yourself the money and bad stools from here. Its already going out of business anyways and this is clearly why. read more
