Hands down the BEST Philly cheese steaks I have ever had and the fries are great too!

i just wanted to give a big thank you, to chris (manager) and to elijah. i ordered doordash at 6:38pm on friday night. 2 original cheesesteaks and a bottle of soda. i waited shortly for a driver, got one and all of a sudden, after their dot was at the restaurant, i didn't have a driver. i waited a very long time before calling Famous Philly's to ask them if someone had come and picked my order up, and they said someone did. at this point, my phone was still searing for a driver. at this point, the restaurant and i decided we'd call doordash to have them cancel the order, and i had to replace the order. at this point, it was 8:20pm. the restaurant closed in 49 minutes, and they still struggled to get me a driver. the driver they got me, spent 10 minutes in a parking lot, right before 9. doordash then, cancelled my order again, because the restaurant closed. mind you, the restaurant already made my order a couple times. i contacted doordash and they refunded my money, and VERY KINDLY Chris told me that an employee would come and bring me my food. i live in DTC so it wasn't close for them at all and i so kindly appreciate y'all's help and that you were willing to do that for me. shame on doordash. aside from my whole dilemma , the food was delicious and thank you for the extra bottle of soda. read more

Best cheesesteak I've had in Denver. They are very consistent too, I've gone four times in the last month and every time it was fire, always a solid amount of stuffing. I can't say anything about the other menu items but the cheesesteaks are a hit. The bread is so good. read more

Tonight was our first time here. I found this place earlier today because it's next door to the nail salon I went to earlier in the day. Being a huge cheesesteak lover I couldn't get the place out of my mind and came back for our dinner. I ordered a regular cheesesteak with mushrooms, onions, whiz AND American cheese. I ALWAYS order my steaks with both cheeses. Soooo so good. Really liked the bread and the sandwich was really good. I couldn't taste the mushrooms or onions but it was still very yummy. Husband doesn't eat meat so we nervously tried the veggie hoagie. Hubby wasn't impressed with my order for him until he ate it. He asked me, 'so what's this place called? This sandwich is awesome.' We also had fresh hot fries and some jalapeno poppers. Hubby really liked the poppers and I thought the fries were darn good. I am picky about my fries. Price for all of this with tax was about $23. Overall, really happy to have a great cheesesteak place nearby that also has a sandwich my husband can eat but also likes enough to ask for again. read more

I've been going to Famous Philly Cheese Steaks (formerly South Philly Cheese Steaks) for years, they make the best cheese steaks in town. Definitely a place I'd recommend! It's tucked away but it's worth the drive. read more

Ever since the new ownership this once my favorites is now just dirty. The tables are never clean, the floors are filthy and it makes you wonder how the kitchen cleanliness is managed. Also their beer license has not been renewed and I am not sure if they will add it back with new ownership. Serve the fries before my cheesesteak we finish the fries before the cheesesteaks are done. Just out about making the circuit and was looking for a sandwich and a cold beer. Stumbled upon Famous Philly and was not disappointed. Draft selection was rounded for only three taps and the can selection filled in the holes. Nice patio but some more umbrellas would defiantly make it more pleasant. I've never actually been to this restaurant, but I have ordered delivery from them several times. These cheesesteaks are greasy, goodness wrapped up in a bun. They are so cheesy that the cheese sticks to the parchment paper wrapped around them and you don't even care because there is so much cheese still on the sandwich. Also, they make a bacon cheesesteak. Yes. Bacon. On a cheesesteak. Just when you thought this meal couldn't get any worse for your health... or better for your tastebuds.... They do fresh cut fries which are never quite crispy enough for me, but it's a nice option to have. And every time I've ordered delivery they've shown up faster than the quoted time which is always a nice surprise, especially when you are a starvin' marvin like I often am these days. read more

Chicken cheese steak was very good! They didn't have hot peppers. Wazzup with dat? The place was rather divey not very clean. I felt like I was at a roadside joint in Appalachia not Denver Neighborhood. I'm glad I got it to go. It was hot this day and they have no AC. On the positive side when my to go order was handed to me, I was stunned by how courteous the lady was. Something like. "Thank you so sincerely for your patronage. It has been an honor to serve you and we hope to have that honor again very soon. Please enjoy our food and have a blissful rest of your day and week". I doubt I will go back there. But, I now know I can eat cheese steak with chicken and it's almost just as good as beef and thanks to that lady, I did totally enjoy my sandwich sans hot peppers, and did have a great rest of the day. read more

I'm not a Philly Cheese Steak expert, but our sandwiches seemed pretty good. For about 8 bucks you can get a good size sub, fries, and a drink. That's a pretty good price for just one person. The restaurant was clean, and the lady who took our order seemed friendly. I would recommend this place to just about anyone. read more

I ordered a regular cheesesteak with cheese whiz. As for the cheesesteak, well, it had no seasoning at all. It looked so very unappetizing. I was 3 bites in & just couldn't eat any more. Finally stopped in here and was so glad I did! As an undergrad in Philly, I have had my share of cheesesteaks. Heard some good things about this place and was a little unsure approaching the door. Funny t shirts the staff wear, cool mural depicting parts of Philly, complete with the SEPTA bus!! Philly water ice...tastykakes...mmm... When I took one bite, I was instantly brought back to so many nights ordering cheesesteaks in Philly! Awesome Cheese Steak. I'm sure Cheese Steak snobs from Philly will find something to dislike about this place because that's just what they do. As far as I'm concerned, the meat was delicious, there was a good amount of whiz, and the bread was soft but not soggy. Plus the green chili cheese fries were delicious. We lived in Philly for two years and tried a lot of the cheese steaks. They were all great but not any better than this place.

Love this place!! I don't eat meat that often so I order their "veggie" steak which is roasted peppers and other veggies on a big soft roll. It is just dreamy. The Italian water ice machines are a nice touch. At times this place is a bit disorganized, or seems so, but I think it lends to it's authenticity. It isn't a mass production fast food type of place. The sandwiches here I think are better than many places in Philly and I lived in Philly for 8 years and k still go back a few times a year. read more

Went to Order to go around 8:30P back in 2017 (So late with my review), and figured I would have a beer while I wait for my food. It was dark outside and the sign is hardly noticeable if it is was not for GPS I would have easily passed this place. They raised prices the day before I came. Cheesesteaks are $1 more from what was in Yelp. After looking thru the menu and decided which cheesesteak to get I asked for pepperchini, but they didn't have any, so the lady recommended hot peppers so that's what I went with. This was a great recommendation. I have been back at least 8 times and hot peppers are a must. I also ordered 10 wings and the price went up $3 (back in 2017) from what was online. But again everything on this menu regardless of prices Staff was friendly. It says it's a beer garden on Yelp I take they are referring to the patio draft beer selection was 3 choices. And they had multiple canned beers. Place was empty. And decently cleaned during my first visit. But this place has people coming in and out throughout the day due to its popularity I would assume! Famous Phillies is listed as a beer garden on Yelp. I don't know if it meets up to the garden part, but I guess you could consider it one by definition. I think I am a little spoiled when it comes to beer garden. But overall this place is excellent. They have an assortment of fried foods that are delish. The young lady that answered placed me on hold to get help. The man in the back ground told her to tell me to contact Uber Eats and told her to hang up the phone. AWFUL customer service and sad that these are the type of establishments that are taking over our neighborhood!!!! Nice location: In the middle of the neighborhood. Small amount of parking but is limited at different times. Cleanliness: It's a little questionable inside with old tables and could use new ones. The place could just use a face lift. Everything seems to be past its prime. Lol. Food: I'm a fan of philly cheese stack sandwich's. This is why I gave this place 4 stars. If your not a fan of the sandwiches then you might not give it four stars. It's been a long time since I had a great philly sandwich and this ranks up there. We went here for lunch a few months ago. We had cheesesteaks and an order of chile cheese fries. The Cheesesteaks were A OK, the chile cheese fries were alright too. The chile was kind of orange, and also served with some EZ cheese and you dump it on your order. It was alright. The building was kind of cold, and there were crumbs everywhere I guess after the lunch rush. One other question comes to mind- how is this a Beer Garden? Typically a beer garden is quite large has a social inviting feeling (some favorites, Easy Tiger in Austin, Novare Res in Portland ME, 2 Penguins Tap and Grill in Denver, Avery Brewing in Boulder) with plants, or astro turf, possibly games, and the modern ones tend to boast major tap selections. Maybe I am splitting hairs, but I was let down a bit by it being just a small fenced in patio with a tree. This is a fine place to get a satisfying sandwich. I am kind of a snob about things I like certain ways. I am from New England, and grinders, cheese steaks, and East coast pizza I can be fussy about. My partner says he hasn't had a bomb cheesesteak in Colorado. It has gotten to the point where I make them at home. I get a chunk of steak chill it to near frozen and shave it with a knife. then I make some food porn. read more

The NHL playoffs started this evening and my fiancé and I needed a solid plate of wings to celebrate such festivities. Ironically, we ended up ordering from a Philly Cheese Steak spot. Here are a few points I'd like to highlight... 1) The delivery was super quick. We received our food well before we were quoted and it was PIPING HOT, like magma status 2) The sauces and fries were incredible. We ordered hot with a side of the 'Not Responsible' sauce. Good heat, great flavor. The fries were flavorful and crunchy. 3) while the wings were delicious, I'm picky about my wings. I love wings well-done and crunchy. These were done but slightly slimy. Still delicious, just could have been better. Overall, being that this place specializes in Phillies, their 'other' items are totally worth it. What a find ! A friend took me to this place and it has great sandwiches and stuff. Apparently there are 4 locations in the Denver area. The one I went to is in the middle of a residential area, a small shopping center, which in itself is kind of strange as the amount of business they can hope for there seems to be limited. I hope they make it. The site itself is small, about 10 tables and benches, a TV had on the baseball game (NYY vs. Clev ..go Clev.), the kitchen takes up about a third of the place. Everything is made fresh and delivered to your table. They also do a take out business for those in the immediate area. It is a bit difficult to find and the large sign outside was not even lit up. A good marketing campaign would cement this place where it is and bring in increased revenue. They have won "best sandwich" in the North Metro Taste of the Chamber for the past two years, and the "People's Choice" Best Sandwich award for 2006. I had the Chicken Mushroom Cheesesteak with Provolone and onions. It was great and I have not been exposed to Philly style cheesesteaks before. They use rolls sent in from Amoroso Bakery in Philly and they are great and are an intergral part of the sandwich. The fries were nothing special. They also have Tastykakes which I understand are another Philly staple. I will definately make the trip to the shop many more times or as long as they are there. read more

I can't lie I love Dave's and we've had our ups and downs! I'm a picky person but this young man has definitely made some changes and listened to his customers! You can get your chicken, salmon, or beef Philly prepared all on separate grills! I hate cross contamination and he definitely set the bar high with this! Ordered via UberEATS. They forgot one of two cheesesteaks...... Thankfully UberEATS has much better customer service than this dump. The one cheesesteak (the works) was decent but nothing to write home about. Light on the wiz and all other toppings. Wings were disgusting. Look at the attached photo and tell me that's a "wing" being held up. Never did figure out wtf that was. Just definitely not a wing. Two other wings were eaten out of hunger (and lack of cheesesteak from order), eight were thrown in the trash. Onion rings were cold and at least four didn't even have onions inside. Thanks for the fried air. Fried mushrooms are clearly frozen then reheated. Thank you UberEATS for refunding me for nearly all this garbage! read more
