It was easy to reserve a bike on the website, when I called on the phone they were super friendly. Once I came in person they saw how young I was (F21), I rented a bike for my Bf (M23) since he doesn't have his own bike, I was constantly ignored and talked over. The guy didn't treat the other people ahead of me the same and he kept my ID and made jokes about if I would steal. He didn't keep other customers IDS and just took pictures. To be honest we won't come back and just invest in fixing my BFS bike as it wasn't hard to travel with our bikes from Jersey. If you're older you'll get a better experience for sure :) read more

I research bike rentals and this one came up as the best. So I booked it 4 months in advance. I requested 2 electric bikes for 24 hours. They communicated with me and stayed in contact the entire time. They sent me a confirmation email a few days before the trip. The rental day was finally here and we were not able to use the rental on that day. I contacted the shop and requested to change the rental to the next day and they were absolutley fantastic and accommodating. They changed the rental to the next day with no problem whatsoever. These guys are the best. They helped to make our trip fantastic. We were able to enjoy an entire day in Central Park, Riverside, downtown and all around Manhatten. We stopped for lunch and later for drinks. We took in a ton of sites. Went down streets and alleyway. It was definitely the way to see NYC in a day. I will never rent another car when coming to NY. No cost for parking. You fit everywhere. If you haven't gotten my drift yet, this was a fantastic fun thing to do. I must say thank you so much to the Fancy Apple crew. They have so many people that they don't pay attention to what they are renting. They didn't have helmets even when we came with a child under 14. And the worst... They gave me an electric bicycle that I rented for an hour and the battery ran out after 15 minutes, the man who dispatched them told me that surely it would be enough for him and obviously it was a lie. So I had to drag it a few kilometers back to the store in the sun and heat and without being able to use it since the direction of the bikes was the opposite. When the attendant arrives, He tried to solve it, but the time and experience lost are simply not worth it. I recommend renting public bikes on the outskirts of Central Park. First time here and definitely will be the last. Would not recommend this place due to poor customer services and equipments. Rented three bikes and two scooters for two hours to ride in Central Park. Bike seats were uncomfortable and then handles are not the same. You can tell the original came off on one side and another was put on. The bike gears was horrible. Very difficult to see depending on which bike you got and very difficult to switch on all the bikes. We had difficulty with all three bikes not able to switch the gears pass 3. Gears sucks so bad that it did nothing when riding incline. There's no resistance in these gears. They do not provide any locks for the bikes so if you wanted to stop and walk around the park to view things you either one walk the bike with you if it's allowed or take turns with members in your party to guard the bikes. This was ridiculous. The chain on my bike came off a little more than half mile towards the end Of our ride. Attempted to put back on the chain but it would not stay on. Literally walked the bike back to the shop. No assistance what so ever from any staff coming to assist you. It's was horrible. Thankfully it was still early in the morning and it wasn't crazy crowded yet. Had to call my sisters to inform them I would be late due to chain coming off. One staff insulted my third older sister telling my fourth older sister that "your mom" wanted a refund. We're all sisters. The most ridiculous thing was that they did not handed my sister's ID back after we rented and/or after we returned the bikes and scooters. Sister did not realized it was not given back since it was already hectic with me walking back with a broken bike and another sister felt insulted by staff's rude comment. This place texted my sister 30 minutes before the shop was closing informing her she forgot her ID and they close at 7 pm and will be reopened at 8 AM the next day. SERIOUSLY!!!! They waited all day and decided to inform her 30 minutes before closing. Our returned time was 10:40 AM except me who got back around 11:20 AM due to broken chain. Thankfully when she got the text we were already half way in that direction so she was able to hope off and transferred to another train to go back and pick up her ID before the shop closed. HORRIBLE SERVICES!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! You're better off renting the Citi Bikes around the park. read more

I rented a scooter today and I asked for one hour. The attendant who assisted me recommended to do two hour so there's a little cushion and explained that if I didn't use two hours they would only charge me for an hour. Upon returning the scooter, which was under an hour they charged me for two hours anyway and lied about the whole transaction. They were confrontational and unprofessional around other customers and didn't care about helping. They cannot be trusted. We then proceeded to Harlem to enjoy Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster. Took the bikes back down Central Park and hing out around the 42nd through the 57th block. On a very busy day of traffic, these bikes were perfect to navigate through than walking or going on the subway. We had a great experience with thus bike rental company. We found them online and at that time they were offering a 30% discount. We rented 2 electric bicycles for 5 hours. We rode the bikes around Central Park, three times and took some time to have lunch at Tavern in the Green too. The electric bikes were worth the money because Central Park has areas with hills and we literally breezes through those areas with minimal effort. You don't have to pedal as hard, just a slow constant pedaling will initiative the electric motor to assist with acceleration and you're going to be amazed and happy you got to use the electric bikes. The staff at Fancy Apple was pretty friendly and just be sure to have you yellow copy of the signed agreement to obtain your ID back when returning the bikes.
