I've been a customer at Fancy for YEARS!!! I've always gone Vicky and last year started going to Kathy sometimes when Vicky wasn't there. Kathy is great and super sweet. I loved Vicky as well. Unfortunately, my last experience with her led me to decide to no longer go there. While Vicky was finishing my dip manicure I was taking with a friend who had just finished her nails. Then I noticed I was running late to pick up the kids. My nails cost $60. I paid with a $100 bill. Vicky returned with my change and there was a bunch of $1s in it. I quickly counted it, but wasn't as diligent as I should have been. She gave me a $10 bill and ten $1s. I handed her the $10 as her tip and left. As I was driving to get the kids (not even three to five minutes after leaving) something told me to check my cash again and that's when I knew she hadn't given me the right amount. I immediately text her to let her know I was coming back. When I got there they grabbed her from the back where she was doing a wax. I explained to her that she hadn't given me the right change. She adamantly expressed that she had given me a $20, $10, and ten $1s. I told her she hadn't. I reminded her that I've been her customer for years and would never make a fuss over $20 if I didn't know for a fact I didn't get it. In the middle of the conversation she walked away. I eventually left because I was really upset and embarrassed at how she just made me look. She later texted me apologizing. She said she never counted the money and handed me what was given to her. As someone who's been your customer for years the right thing to have done would be to hear me out and give me the $20. I've never short changed her and I always tip well. The nail portion of this business seems great but I went for tanning. At first I was psyched because they had a great booth (I did the stand up super booth) and a great price ($10) only the price doesn't matter at all if you don't get a tan. I went three time, which would normally put me at a shade near chocolate, and haven't gotten a tan at all. I don't think they've changed the bulbs in here in ages. read more

I love, love, LOVE this salon. MOST of the nail techs here are great however my favorite is Lynn. She always picks out the colors for me which I get complimented on all the time for. I had one okay experience here so far because they guy rushed through my nails and left the shape looking a bit crooked so I always end up booking Lynn for everything that I need to get done from facials, nails and brazillian! I went to this nail salon with my friend and my daughter. She started getting fussy so I asked her if she wanted to watch Sofia the first and nodded her head yes. I pulled out my phone and I pulled up Netflix on my phone. I guess because she's two years old and has no patients I wasn't moving fast enough. So she started crying that she wants Sofia. One of the employees who works there came up to me and said to me "can you please make sure she doesn't cry." This took me by complete shock so I had a little pause. I said to him "she's a 2 year old child I have no control over that." He went to open his mouth but I didn't want to hear what else he had to say so my friend and I and my daughter just left. I went to Fancy Salon yesterday for my first time and was EXTREMELY disappointed!! I heard so many great things about this nail salon so me and my coworker went and tryed it out. When we first get there we was beeing rush to pick a color and our pedi lasted about 10 mins and for $20 bucks i expect a little more. The design on my toes where so sloppy. Then i go sit down to get my nails done and the lady cuts them all the way down and expected me to pay $20 bucks extra to fix it which is way to much money. The managers there where NO HELP at all!!! i was so upset that i left and went to my nail salon that i been at for 5 months. I wanted to try somewhere new and This place is just ok.. went for pedicure (which was standard and ok) and a fill. My nails came out just ok, they are all not the same legnth and one is very crooked. There was alot of acrylic left on up over my cuticles that I had to pick off which caused some of my skin to come with it. The place is clean and people are nice enough but fills are just so- so. I live in South Boston, so there's about 5,000 nail salons between there and Dorchester, and I think I've tried them all. Fancy Nails takes the cake. Not only is the price great ($25 for mani and pedi!) but the staff is nice (without being overly in-your-face fake kinda nice) and the place is comfortable. The chairs are ideal since they have the little foot rest thing that lifts up so you can rest your calf on it when they scrub the soles of your feet (if you're a big girl like me, you know how awkward it is to hold your leg up for all that time!)They have a lot of chairs and a lot of staff, so even when the place is packed, you hardly ever have to wait (and when you do, it's not long). I've gone there bi-monthly for about a year now, for a pedi and usually a mani as well, and I've been to most of the technicians and have only had 2 less than perfect experiences, neither of which were terrible. The first was an older, well-dressed woman who just didn't bother at all with massage or hot towels (maybe because I didn't shave that day??lol) and my most recent trip was for a mani/pedi with Tina and I got there about an hour before they closed and the girl rushed through it... did my french sloppy and only did one coat and was out the door as soon as I hit the drying station. This is the ONLY place near Ashmont I will get my nails done. The employees are so friendly and the owner remembers everyone. They are fast and efficient, you never have to wait no matter how many people you show up with. I get gel manicures and they have more gel colors than any other place I know and it is only $25! I will NEVER EVER go back to this place. I went in for a mani and pedi. I had called and made an appointment, although it was not busy at all when the got there. Plenty of technicians available. I feel like I got the worse one there. I almost left in the middle of the pedi. My nails are not even. The edges were not clipped. My nails were not cut. They were filed a bit but not nearly enough. The polish job was awful. Nothing was even. It looked like the polish bled into the edges of my nails. I am taking the polish off as soon as I am done typing this. The "massage" was not even worth mentioning as it was almost non-existent. EXTREMELY disappointed to say the least. I was so upset, I left before they could get started on the manicure. Went there for years to get my eyebrows done by Tammy and moved out of state. Came back home and drove from Randolph to come get my eyebrows done. Walk into the salon and ask if she can do my eyebrows and she doesn't even speak to me to say yes or no or she's busy. I leave and come back a couple of days later and same thing only this time a guy is asking talking for her and she's like come back in one hour with the worst attitude. This place has terrible customer service and it is clear that the customer is not valued. I got a gel manicure here and less than four days later, the polish on two of the nails completely came off and several others were chipped, when my gel manicures always last me three weeks. I went back to the place because I needed a pedicure and my nails fixed and I am disgusted with the response. I asked for all the nail polish to be removed, since it was clear that the man who did my nails did not do a thorough job. I felt that if they fixed the four nails that were ruined, I would be back a few days later for the rest. They were trying to charge an extra $15 to change the gel color, WHEN I HAD ALREADY PAID $25 A FEW DAYS BEFORE. Since I felt that it was ridiculous to pay $40 within a few days for a terrible job one of their employees did, I decided that I would do regular polish instead. I told her that we might as well do a manicure, since the store regularly charges $25 for a regular manicure and pedicure and the lady doing my nails told me that if I did a manicure it would be $30 because it was an extra five dollars to remove the gel nail polish . At this point, I was in disbelief because it was clear that all they cared about was money and did not care at all about customer satisfaction. So, I ended up paying $20 for the pedicure and left with bare nails AND paid $25 four days before for a terrible gel manicure. In addition, in the middle of my pedicure, with my feet in the water, I was asked to get up and move my car, when regularly the managers take the car keys and manage the cars in the small lot. Overall, today was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. They did not care one bit that I was back there because their employee did not give a quality manicure and were even adding on charges, when it wasn't even my fault. read more

I have been looking for a nail salon and I came across fancy nails, I have been going here for about six months and it seems to get worse every time I go. I went in there for a refill on Thursday and by Monday my acrylic was already lifting up. Wendy did a horrible job with my nails. I went there for a refill and she got mad because I decided to change my color before she even applied the previous color that I picked out, then to top it off the nails that was getting refilled you can see right through the top layer. So I have clear nail polish on my fingers with a French tip design and they look horrible I am ashamed to show my fingers and I tried my best to hide my thing is when interacting with others. This place is hit or mess and I think I've missed it wants so many times and it's time for me to find somewhere else to go. If you can go somewhere else I advise you to go somewhere else spend the extra money and have them done properly. See the pictures that I posted with the clear nail polish and the Peach V tips. Just ashame that I tip for such a horrible service, but hey you get what you pay for and I will go some where else and spend the extra money to be happy. read more

My dad came here once before and he's handicap he got a pedicure and manicure done. The second as soon as he gets out the car the owner sees him walking with a cane he says oh someone needs to stay with him I said i am then he goes maybe you should take him to a foot therapist. I told him he came here before what's the problem so when we go in he tells his employees whatever in his language then the lady says we can only do a pedicure. To me this is discrimination his left hand is paralyzed but that has nothing to do with his nails getting a manicure. I've brought my dad plenty of time to Lynn's spa with no problem. I give Christina 5 stars. I've been seeing her at this location I want to say for about 6 or 7 years. She took me in after I had the worst experience with an Uphams corner nail shop. But I love it here. Christina knows what I like. She knows and has services my mom and my friends. She doesn't rush either. And she's pay attention to detail. I never feel like she's rushing me for the next client. I love the service. She does my eyebrows occasionally as well. It always seems packed in this nail salon, on busy days the guys that work here will park your car and will hold your keys until services are done. ( So you don't smudge while looking in your purse.) If you want to go here see Christina and make sure you make an appointment because she is in high demand. I've gone in without making an appointment and she was booked for the next 3 hours, so I came back. And I have waited at least an hour for her because I didnt book. read more

I have been going to Fancy Salon for some time and honestly there's only a few people who can do nails well. But after today I will no longer get my nails done. Got my nails done Thursday the next day my pinky nail broke. Didn't fuss because my natural nails are longs and the acrylic nail didn't break to the point it was noticeable. Then Saturday four more nails broke and the other two cracked. I'm on vacation and am not doing anything intensive. One nail broke so bad I'm going to the hospital to make sure I don't catch an infection. I am highly upset and disappointed and will no longer return. read more

For the bargain price of $25 for a mani and pedi, I'd say the value is pretty good. The salon was clean and staff was friendly. With it being sandal season, I believe that you should spend a little more time on the heels and soles of feet. I'm very picky with my toes as well and my nails didn't look straight , but still 4 starts. I will definitely go back. read more

I have been a customer here off & on for years. The owner knew me & my sister on a first name basis. Well during my last visit, my appt was pushed behind because the owner wanted me to move my car (the parking lot there is VERY small and parking is limited). I had no problem moving it but I told her I wasn't comfortable parking my car where she wanted me to park, and she kept persisting me to move my car where she wanted me too. I moved my car and told her it shouldn't be this much of a debate over parking. Well I go inside and I'm talking to my daughter about how all this time was wasted and now my appt is behind. Well the owner was standing by us and literally listening to my conversation and told me if I'm not happy I can leave. I then reminded her that I'm not talking to her and no I won't since I'm already here. She says well if your not happy then you can go elsewhere. I let her know... no, I'm not happy about "the parking" and that's it - period. Well that was the end of the conversation... I got my nails done and left. So I call to make an appt and once I gave the tech's name and my name, I was told 'I don't think we can take care of you here anymore and think you need to find another place to go'. I literally asked "are you serious"?! Now again, the owner knew me well for years. I've now read other people say how customer service is not great nor are you valued as a customer here. I can now contest this to be true! For someone that has been coming here for years, this is how you treat loyal customers... Over parking?! Well after seeing all these negative reviews on their customer service, they won't have much of a clientele left if they keep treating customers so poorly. Be careful going here. You may be welcomed there or made to feel unwelcomed. Nonetheless, they did me a favor and now reminded me why I tend to stick to the more upscale salons as they tend to value their customers. read more

They didn't have that much colors to choose from, but other than that, I wouldn't mind coming back. Gel manicure was 25 and got it less than a week ago. Gel has peeled from the cuticle upwards on all but three nails and two other nails have broken off completely. Have not had the experience of a gel mani peeling off so quickly or being so fragile at any other salon. Great customer service, but very very poor quality of work. read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! Was there three days ago and Snow did my nails she did an ok job but the following day I decided to get a pedi there so i went and then decided i wanted to cut my nails down a bit so i did with Jenny she was awesome she cut and shaped my nails to perfection although she wasn't my original tech. 15 min after leaving the salon my nail chipped i went back to fix it and was greeted with rude and unwarranted behavior i have been their customer for the past 8yrs and always had felt a certain way but ignored it because it was cheap convenient and i know the owner. It was late so alot of the techs were gone although two of the most senior techs were there and refused to repair my nail stating that i need to come back today so upset i left and went to nails and spa where they repaired my nail for FREE and i wasn't even their customer. Today while at work another nail chipped so i called Fancy Nails on my lunch break to make an appointment with Jenny @730pm so i get there and they don't have record of my appointment because a white customer spending more money all of a sudden had the same appointment so again the owners brother who manages in her absence wouldn't even try and have Jenny accommodate me after showing him on my phone that i indeed called and had scheduled an appointment. These people are money hungry and racist they know all of their white customers names but cant recall a black persons name the techs pic and choose who they want to service its completely unfair. If you want quality and good service this isn't the place for you. They get upset if they try and recommend something and u refuse they don't have the best color selection either and the "barbicide" is Windex so when i went i suggested they clean the tools with alcohol. Leaving this salon alone is tough cause i have recommended so many family members and friends but its long over due. In this economy businesses need to know that if people are spending money they need to be treated the best. read more
