I first saw this show in Disneyland...in fact it started there in 1992. The show in California takes part in front of Tom Sawyer's Island and I found it kind of hard to see with all of the crowds in front of me. So when I saw that this same show at Hollywood Studios I was really happy to get a seat and enjoy it. But I must say that this show fills up fast. We found that out the hard way. Yes as we were walking into the show on our first day here, when we were informed by an announcement that said the show was full and would only allow standing room only. After a long day at Disney, we looked at each other and said, "Okay we are not going to stand for another 45 minutes before show time!" So we decided to pack it in and head to the hotel. On day 2 we made sure we went in 1:30 hours before show time. I was not going to be denied two days in a row!!! We grabbed our seats and made friends with some of our neighbors and waited. I went to hit the beer line and it took forever. Almost 30 minutes to get beers and popcorn. Dear Disney...I bet you lost $50,000 in sales because of how slow this line moved...with all of the staff this line should have been flying by but it didn't. I finally got back to my family and the beers and popcorn made them forget I was gone for such a long time. There were a few comedians that started warming up the crowd about 20 minutes before the show. They were cute and a little annoying all in the same breath...I am sure if I had more beer they would have been hilarious. This show is a nice mix of giant laser beams, explosions, characters and video projection. The best part is you will get to see a ton of characters, which for any Disney Fan is a huge bonus no matter how old or young you are. Disney also offers some ways to get preferred seating...if you book and eat lunch at The Brown Derby, then you can get a great seat at the show without getting there an hour early. So if you want to there is a way to work around the crowds and get a good seat. We did not do this because a 100 dollar lunch at Disney did not seem like a good option for me to bypass a line!!! read more

The perfect spectacle to end the day at the park. If at Disney's Hollywood Studios this a must attraction to cap off the day. It's an amazing show that is best seen at night when the sun goes down. Even better, it's included with the price of your admission ticket. I would say try to get seated at the second viewing. Not as crowded the times we have been there and it's night time by then so the special effects and lighting really stand out. Also, there is plenty of seating but try to get there early to score the best spots as it will get crowded. You do feel a bit like cattle entering and exiting the place though. We have done the dinner package deal which guarantees a seat in a select area, but it's really not needed as long as you get there early enough. Summer season to me is more packed than when I was just here in October. You can get beer, popcorn, and snacks during the show but be aware that the concession lines are super slow. While waiting for the show to start a few comedians work to warm up the crowd, and they are just ok. Think "wholesome" family comedy. Once the show starts you are treated to an extravaganza of colored laser beams, explosions, fire, Disney characters, floats on the water, and cool video projection displayed on the water and mist. Pretty much every Disney character you can remember is in this show. It's just a terrific production - the technology. effects, costumes - are just wonderful and if you are a big Disney fan you walk away totally satisfied. read more

This is by far the best show at Disney World! I have seen the show twice and the first time my husband and I got front center seats and the view was fantastic! Now the second time, since they introduced the new fast pass+, it did mess up our plan. I didn't think we needed a fast pass for a show. Well think again. We got to the stadium about 40 min before the show time and it was already full full full. They separate you from fast pass holders at the entrance and if you don't have fast pass, they guide you to the side seats. We were still able to see the show but nothing like the front center. So I strongly advise you to get a fast pass and still go there one hour early to get the best seat. As to the show, they have lots of fireworks, lights on water, and all the major characters on boats at the end of the show. To see all the skits from Disney movies on water was really beautiful. You can see Micky does a lot of actions on stage, so it was way more fun for me than electrical parade where all the characters just ride on vehicles and wave at you. This show is a must and makes Hollywood studio the best of Disney World! read more

Meeeeeh, not a five star deal in my book by a longshot. We had Fantasmic dining package passes and showed up plenty early only to find both center sections completely filled as there was only one show that night. We eventually found a seat by going all the way down to the front and then up into another section while being yelled at by two cast members that we weren't allowed to do this (I should point out that we only followed maybe a dozen others who are were doing the same thing). With that out of the way, thankfully since our last visit last year the beginning sing-a-long I guess has been scrapped but that's in favor of some fake DJ playing a bunch of top 40 crap so either way it's a lose/lose proposition. The show itself is alright although if you're there on a night where there's a bit of a breeze the water effect is rendered quasi-useless and if you've seen the show once do you really need to see it again? There's a lot going on and if you're a fan of characters then you'll like the ending but if you've seen it once then you know that the show doesn't change and if there's only one show that night seating can be a real PIA which makes it even more of a chore to have to show up even earlier. If you've never been then by all means give it a shot but once you've done it, you've done it. read more

Fantasmic is a hidden gem of a show at Disney! This show is only in the evening, it is essentially Hollywood Studios nighttime show, instead of fireworks. On busier evenings, they offer two showings. If this is the case, skip the first one and do the second. The actual theatre is located next to Tower of Terror WAYYYYY in the back. I'm talking like a hike to get back there. Once you are back there, the seating is huge! You would never have known that they had so much space back there. They tell you to arrive at least an hour before the show starts and yes it does fill up fast but I think 30-40 minutes is fine. The view is great no matter where you sit, in my opinion. They do offer fastpass for the show but I really think it is a waste unless you have nothing else to pick from. You basically get to go in before the standby line. I would say though that if you have to sit down close and in the dead middle you may want to get a Fastpass. They have a couple of concession stands inside but last time, the line was horrible and not moving. They allow you to bring food or drinks or snacks in with you, so I would just do that. The show itself is a mixture of live characters and projections on water they spray up in the air. I do feel there was more character action a long time ago and it has changed to more of the water. I could be totally wrong but its still good. The music is great, it just makes you want to dance. I do remember the first time I ever saw this, my husband and I got totally soaked because it was windy and it picked up the water spray. But we were in the first row, so be cautious. I think this is a great show and a great way to end your day at Hollywood Studios. It holds tons of people and the music and fireworks are just magical. It always makes me smile!! read more

Holy mother of God! Disney knows how to put on an effing show! seriously, this production made me cry. It was just all the Disney characters that have been present in my life for ever since I can remember in life form, with so much musical and visual stimulation. It is quite overwhelming. Along with the visuals, are natural elements like fire, water, and it is really magical! I do not understand how this production run so smoothly. When I think of all of the technology, costumes, people who need to be in the right place at exactly the right time, plus all of the things I could possibly go wrong with sound systems, lighting, pyrotechnics etc. it really is truly amazing! Make sure to arrive early so that you're able to get a seat. I understand the show is not shown every night, so please check to make sure it is showing when you visit. Just finished watching this show at Hollywood Studios in Orlando. This was my first day at Disney and I thought this show was one of my highlights of the day! I liked it quite a lot along with the interesting Mickey storyline (his inner struggle haha). Because this is a night show, they had a mix of mini fireworks, water displays, and character entertainment. It was quite creative but some images reflected on the water wasn't as clear. I'm going during low season so overall the park has less visitors than in the summer, but I would still advise to get there at least 30 minutes before the show starts to get good seats if you didn't get Fast Pass. read more

Disneyland lacks in seating, but does much better with the props, such as using the Columbia and Mark Twain in their show. The dragon Maleficent lacks the scare power, but still is impressive. If you can stay late, go for the 2nd show. Its not as crowded. Avoid sitting in the first 20 rows, as you will get wet with the mist. read more

I was amazed at how many people can be squeezed into each showing of Fantasmic. My first experience with the insane Fantasmic line was when I was foolish enough to go Hollywood Studios on a holiday weekend that was also during Star Wars weekends. That was a great plan. Can we say "people everywhere"? When we were talking down the street away from The Tower of Terror it was hard not to notice the Fantasmic line that continued for blocks. Little did I know that once those people got into the official area for Fantasmic there was still a lengthy line to make your way through! Once you finally get inside the seating area you'll see that it curves around a body of water. There's a stage designed to look like a cliff on the other side of the water. When the show begins Mickey comes out and is the master of ceremonies of sorts for the production. The body of water is used in very inventive ways. A wall of water is created by a fountain and they project clips from Disney movies on it. There are multiple boats that are used and at one point they even make it look like the water is on fire after a dragon fireball blast. The dragon in the show has to be the largest animatronic creature I've seen. It might be a little scary for small children, but it looks really cool. There's not a story to follow. They basically just keep throwing characters and scenes at you (not that there's anything wrong with that). The only part that I thought dragged was the live action Pocahontas section. That went on longer than it should have. I enjoyed watching Fantasmic and thought that it was very well done. Would I fight the crowds to see it again? I'm not so sure about that. read more

This shows gets packed with probably 2,000 people per show. You might want to get on line an hour before the show and if the park staff tell you that you don't have to line up so early because there are plenty of seats tell them, "bite me!" Seriously, they told me not to worry about seating and while they were technically correct the seats I would have gotten were so far off to the left & right that I would have only been able to see half the show from those angles. Parents of youngsters: THINK TWICE. The fear factor is 10 out of 10 for little ones. Notorious Disney villains come together to kill Mickey in an over-the-top battle of good and evil. Larger-than-life dragons, witches, snakes, and a real lake of fire await you and your family. (Not kidding.) If your children are 6 or under, it's likely that Mickey's nightmare will become yours, too. And it's seemingly endless. It's also very difficult to exit the amphitheater in the dark, so there's no quick escape route. My suggestion: save your money. read more

I've seen the show about three times and I have to say the first two were better than the last but it's a really great show...with projected images on water spray fountains, lasers, fire and smoke and dancing characters on boats and fireworks too! Be aware that it's basically a good vs evil theme and some of the evil stuff might scare smaller kids. I have to say you need to get a FastPass for this! because you need to be there early anyway because the line is ridiculous to get a good seat if you come too late you might be stuck way over on the side and then it takes forever to get out... the good news is there is a snack bar and restrooms inside the show area the bad news is it's always packed. The seating is uncomfortable because it's just bleacher style seats/ aluminum with no backs. My main complaint this last time was the water spray needed to be adjusted on my side of the amphitheater because the projections looked very blurry and I remember them being much sharper previously. Also, I was so far over on one side that I was close to the speakers and it seemed extra extra loud while we were waiting for the show to start but I still have to recommend going to the show at least once because it is fantastic! there's so many characters included in the show I can't even list them all and it's really spectacular when the fireworks are going off or there's flames on the water and when Mickey's fighting a dragon! read more

Not Too Fantas(tic)mic Over: 2.5 Stars After the excellent viewing of the Frozen Fireworks Spectacular it was time to cap off the night with the long running Fantasmic. I don't know if it was the awe-inspiring spectacle of the previous show, Disney overstimulation, or something else, but the show was a letdown. It feels dated. Now don't get me wrong, it is a rather nice performance piece with a lot of work put into it and it has to be somewhat good, or else the entire stadium wouldn't have been filled, but it lacks the luster the other shows have. Unless you are one of the luckier individual to have a centered seat (food plan) or come remarkably early, the views are a bit murky. Bad eyesight...good luck with that. The projection on the water is a nice touch, but a small gust of wind tears down the views quickly. It's a great chance to see all your characters from your favorite movies as they pass by. I saw it's worth seeing once, not twice. read more

I enjoyed the parts where the performers came on boats from the back of the show. Although I didn't always understand what was going on with some of the block lit productions going on in the stage. He reminded me of some freestyle jazz dance routine. But I love the end were all the characters come out, on Steamboat Willie's boat. Get here early if you want to get a decent seat. The stadium holds several thousand people, and it is usually full a good half hour before the show begins. then again there's not a bad seat to be had in the entire place. Enjoy! read more

Demonic! Very dark and sinister. I took my 3 children all 5 and under to see this show and they left in tears. THIS IS NOT A SHOW FOR CHILDREN! It's supposed to be about good fighting the darkness. Okay that's not too bad if there was actually some good in this show outside of the last 30 seconds when Mickey finally blast the huge demonic snake. The show was literally 20 minutes of evil and darkness... It might as well been called Mickey's evil imagination. If you want your children to see something positive, a show that actually allows them to take away a good message, and not give them nightmares, than stay far, far away from Fantasmic! There was not one positive thing I can say my self or my children took away from this show. Actually, I take that back, seeing this show made me realize just how evil Disney world really is and me and my children will never be back. read more

I was in Walt Disney World in April and December 2012 and made sure to experience Fantasmic both times. In April, I purchased the Fantasmic Dining Plan, which was great in that we didn't waste time standing in line, but I was slightly disappointed where our seats were located after spending the extra money. In December we waited for 45 minutes beforehand, and had absolutely perfect seats, dead center and just above the splash zone. Even though the park was more crowded in Dec than April, we had better seats because there were two showings of Fantasmic that day and we went to the later one. I've seen the show itself four or so times and it still makes me cry every time. The effects are absolutely gorgeous, the music is beautiful and every performer still gives it their all, even though they perform it multiple times a night. I think that the energy from the crowd, which is always the loudest and best of any WDW show I've seen, really cheers on the performers. Without giving away any spoilers, the plot of Fantasmic is that Mickey is imagining some of the different Disney love stories from their animated movies, when the villains from those movies try to take over his dreams. All of the action takes place on a stage and its surrounding lake that was created just for this spectacle, and it works. The image of movies projected onto moving water is breathtaking every time you see it, giving the animation an extra dimension, and the special effects and lights are breathtaking, no matter how many times you've seen it. And just to reiterate it again, the music is absolutely stunning, and gives me goosebumps every time. I would NEVER miss Fantasmic on any trip to Disney World! read more

I've wanted to see fantastic for 6 years, and we finally got to do so on our last Hollywood Studios trip, and we sat FRONT AND CENTER!! =D The outdoor amphitheater is very big - the seats are standard bleachers, so be ready for that all you with bad backs. You'll forget your pains though when the show starts... trumpets blasting, shouting that imagination is beginning! It truly is a blend of magic and fantasia, which is already magic... See all of your favorite characters come alive and play before your eyes (wow that sounded like it came right from a commercial!) The water effect to create the movie screen is pretty cool - if you sit close enough you'll get dampened by the spray. We had fast passes. The highlight of Hollywood Studios, not to be missed! A stunning show of lights, pyrotechnics, music and live action that is simply stunning. The theater gets PACKED. Get there at least 40 mins early if you want a seat, or get a fast pass to guarantee a seat. Every seat in the house has a good view. If you sit down close, you may get wet. You want a seat for this. Standing room is terrible. Another tip--bring a towel or lots of napkins. The benches can be soaked, and you'll want to wipe that down. Everyone in your party should enter together, or you may get split up, or may not even get in. There are concessions and restrooms inside. It gets THAT crazy. The show itself is very loud and intense, and could be a little scary for kids. It gets a little dark (mood-wise). However, all ages will be amazed, as Disney does not disappoint with this show. Try to sit stage left by the exit or it's a nightmare to get out after the show. Only one exit is a major design flaw. If you're stage right, you may as well sit for 10 mins after the show, especially if you have young children. You really don't want to wind up carrying a sleeping 3 year old post-show, unless you're looking to work off some of that park fare... read more

Of all of Disney's evening shows, this one is probably my favorite. There are not much fireworks going on here. What they do have is a story line and a really cool show. Mickey comes out towards the beginning and shoots out fireworks from either hand. It's a really cool spectacle. The battle is on. It is between villains and heroes. Everything is shown on a mountain stage behind water and a gorgeous water show. Many scenes of Disney are projected onto a mist of water. There are a few scenes with many other characters and at the end all of the princesses in every Disney character comes out in boats over the water. They also have fire out of the water as well at certain points. You are in Mickey Mouse's dream throughout the entire show and it is just fascinating the way they do it. This is in an out door amphitheater. So if it rains, you may have a problem and it may be canceled. If it's really hot, you may suffer the elements of the very hot weather. Other than that, it is a fabulous show and that should not be missed when visiting this particular theme park. read more

Fantasmic! is always a must whenever I visit and my family gets me into Disney World :) Every time I've gone, my cousin's friend was nice enough to get us in the VIP section which was super nice. It gives us a perfect center view of the show and we're not packed on the bench like sardines. It's one of the only things that bug me about Disney World, all the damn people getting all up in my business :P I don't remember seeing the show at Disneyland so I have nothing to compare it to. Regardless, it's a fun show to see and sing along to. There was a slight breeze the night we went so we were sprayed with the mist but it wasn't too bad. P.S. Don't get separated when you're exiting out the back. We almost lost half our group due the large crowds of people all moving in the same direction. read more

Since you can usually walk right in. But for heavy months in the summer, do plan to be at the show early. Like many things at Walt Disney World, I feel like the Fantasmic night show at Hollywood Studios has really held its own and continues to be an attraction that's worth the wait and effort to see. I don't see a discernible difference in the quality of view or seating between the seats you get from a dining package, Fastpass or standby seating, but the Fastpasses to this show do seem relatively easy to pick up, which will add the show to your app and schedule, which can be helpful for planning purposes. The show features Mickey Mouse (and Sorcerer Mickey), a variety of villains such as Hades, Maleficent and the Chernabog, as well as other characters such as just about everyone from Pochahontas, as well as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Princess Jasmin, and at the end of the show there's probably a dozen more. This is a fun experience with lots of bright lights and colors, lasers, fire, animated video projected on water and a bit of pyrotechnics throughout. read more

About 6000 people can sit here & you need to arrive 40-60 minutes early if you want a seat most nights. Have seen it a half-dozen times and it's always amazing. Lights, water, fireworks, fire, pretty much every single Disney character... it's got it all! The new little skit they have going to entertain people who are sitting there waiting works pretty good too! Just wish they could get people out at the end easier. Having to walk from the back of the park all the way out while everything else is closed seems inconvenient. read more

Where do I even start with Fantasmic! If you think the show is awesome at Disneyland, you must see this version in Hollywood Studios. Fanstamic is a bigger deal in Hollywood Studios, a way to explain it is that the seating is like a baseball stadium. It's huge, more people can actually watch it and the show is quite longer than the one in Anaheim, at least I think so. If you don't want to wait in line for hours before the show to get a good seat (middle), I suggest making reservations to one of the restaurants that allows you guaranteed seats without having to wait hours before the show. BF and I made reservations in Hollywood & Vine and all we had to do was show up to Fantasmic 30 minutes before the show. Even if you don't make reservations for guaranteed seats, there's so much space and the view are pretty good wherever you sit. read more

I've seen this show so many times. It never gets old. It is always something I make a point to get to. It is, in my opinion, the top show that Disney puts on in the Florida resort area. I would love to give you a description but anything I say wouldn't do it justice. It is beyond anything I could ever dream up. It is, simply, a feat of imagination. I can honestly say that there probably isn't a bad seat in the house. But be warned, this show uses water as part of its theatrics. You will be a little wet. Most will feel little more than a slight drizzle. So if you are a witch, or someone who has a problem with getting just a little wet, brig a raincoat. It is worth it, though. From the warm up folks at the pre-show to the show itself, even the biggest grump will probably find something enjoyable about this show. Just make sure you get there a half hour to an hour before the show and you will be all set. read more

I can't believe that people on here have given it 1 star. I can't possibly imagine what else it needed to do to make them happy. The effects and choreography were so cool. My entire family enjoyed this so much. I am a little displeased that I had to pass up Fast-passing Aerosmith's Roller Coaster in order to fast pass this show, but, the show didn't disappoint, so in the end, I am okay with that. The Steamboat Wiley finish was amazing too. The old black and white style mickey costume was great, and my daughter was going crazy over all the characters on the boat. read more
