I visited Faraon today for the first time. I am Lebanese so I know if the food is authentic. I can say that the food tastes like my Mom had made it. The food was delicious, the flavors very authentic, the service and the ambiance were exceptional. Faraon has excellent affordable lunch options as well as their regular menu full of delicious meat options, pitas and some great side order/appetizer type dishes. Came in on a weekday with a couple of co workers for lunch and found the restaurant not too busy although it would quickly fill up. The waitress was really friendly but probably could've used some help as it later got busier. The dining room has great decor, comfortable seating and a relaxed vibe. Everyone was presented with a small complimentary bowl of lentil soup after we ordered as well as a basket of pita for the table. I went with the 'Lamb Shish' lunch special which came with two sides; Arabic Rice and Baba Ghanoush being my selections. Ohhhhhh what an experience! We had such a great time here at this restaurant for several reasons! First the location is not too bad .. we're not from the area.. we're from California. So - because of the weather it was pouuuuring rainy that day we took the Uber to the restaurant. We were greeted with " sit anywhere you like" and immediately we saw this cute ambiance seating area very typical middle eastern set up! Just LOVE it! And then we proceeded to order our drinks .. I ordered the rosemary mint lemonade what a refreshing drink! And the hubs ordered the typical yogurt beverage. He loved it! Then we proceeded to order our meal.. fabulous! Everything we ordered was just the way it should be! I asked the gentleman how do you make this drink? He knew we are deaf.. so he using gestures- " book- look- shhh" we laughed so hard! First time trying middle eastern food except for the occasional hummus and falafel and was pleasantly surprised. Tried the lunch special which I chose Persian rice, lamb and baba ghanoush. The rice was delicious, it has some noddles incorporated and almonds. The lamb was seasoned well and the baba ghanoush was great as well. They give a complementary lentil soup which Im not a huge fan of lentils but still enjoyed it. The winner for me was the Persian lemonade. Its a mix of rose water, lemonade and mint. All the flavor mixed perfectly together and none of them overpowered the other. Would never think of the combination but was great. Parking is a little tricky as its in a small shopping plaza. I was finally introduced To Mediterranean food a few years ago and have eagerly testing all the places in the area. I came upon this one and saw it was new so I decided to give it a try. But once you step inside of Faraon it's a different story everything was clean, organized and kept to the theme. I came for lunch so the place being new was pretty empty so we had no issues getting a table. Upon looking at the menu I was a little caught off guard when I saw tequeños listed as one of the appetizers. I assume it's to appeal to people who may want to eat something other the Mediterranean food. There were lunch specials and sandwiches which sounded like great options with meats like lamb in them. I craving more typical dishes and ended up getting a lunch platter that came with falafels and kibbeh. I was able to choose one side which was of course hummus which went great with the accompanying pita bread and chips. My favorite item had to be the kibbeh the seasoning was excellent and every bite was full of flavor. Our server was kind and very helpful with describing all the dishes. While the shopping center looks downtrodden and the general parking lot is less than favorable, these minor details are all forgotten upon walking into Faraon! The interior is super clean and the presentation of the both the restaurant's decor and food are quite impressive. The Kabab Shish Lamb was neatly grilled and was wearing a perfectly charred orange bell pepper hat. As a lunch special, my meal included two sides like the Arabic rice and the pita bread with za'atar. Even if you've never tasted it before, you can't miss the taste of za'atar spice. The dried herb sensation it leaves on your tongue is potent and brings the best out of the bread. I wish I had saved or ordered more pita for my Baba Ganoush! This eggplant hummus, as opposed to chickpea hummus, featured traditional Mediterranean flavors and a bean-like, smokey aftertaste. Between the grilled lamb, nut-filled rice, and eggplant spread, my tastebuds felt like they were traveling the world as I ate through the plate. read more

Wow! Came here on my break from work looking for some vegetarian food, as I've been trying to ween off meats. Not much to eat around here after 6pm. I was not just surprised at how fresh and authentic the Syrian style cuisine was, but also at how welcoming the staff was. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. This is family owned and operated. It feels like your at someone's home who knows how to impressively serve they're home cooked food. As usual when trying a new place, I go for the classic dish of the genre. Here it was a sampler dish named the Faraon Vegetarian, which included hummus, muhammara, falafel, babaganush, tabouli, pita slices to dip... awesome. For 18 bucks this filling dish is a vegetarian delight that gets you your Mediterranean food fix in spades. I kept bobbing my head with appeasement while eating. The muhammara had me practically licking the plate. To claim it was delicious would be an insult to the chef in my opinion. It was out of this world. I was offered a lemonade with mint when I sat down and it was prepared freshly at the bar while I was reading the menu. No boxed juice or shortcuts here, this was made to order. I also had the baklava which was very fresh and authentic as well. Not a prefrozen trucked-in desert or a daily delivery from the bakery down the block. You could taste the ingredients and not feel any overpowering sweetness or filling. The nut flavor of the baklava watered my mouth. I spoke to the owner a bit and she introduced me to her mom and the chef, all whom had been speaking to each other in a medley of English, Spanish and Some Arab dialect while I ate. They were very friendly and offered me an audience as I practically interrogated them about everything from their origins to how hydrogen and oxygen combine to make water. I made friends by the end of my wonderful dining experience. The owner's cousin did a great job with the Mediterranean decor. Lamps and three dimensional print on the walls take you to another place and time. The background music is accompanied by videos of the most current musicians in the region. It turns out they do happy hour, lunch specials and hookah! They also do hookah promotions!!! If you dine in on weekends you get a free first round of hookah for the table. While my friend was very satisfied with his falafel and lunch combination plate, I was not impressed with the chicken shawarma wrap. It had very little chicken and very little flavor. I felt like I was biting into lettuce and nothing else. I ordered a side of fries which were pretty greasy. Overall, it's hard to consider this place authentic. There are better Middle Eastern restaurants in Miami like The Daily Bread Marketplace or Maroosh, but this place just seems like a knockoff. I have no clue as to why it has such good reviews.
